There were spots at the bar so we sat and waited for the Bartender to acknowledge us after about 6 minutes Tay our bartender looked up with a scowl and asked what we wanted. I ordered a draft I had never heard of and my wife was stuck with a light bottle beer. When she asked Tay for a glass she was discussed we had spoken to her again and handed us a glass that we don't think has been washed since it was made. Very mediocre overall. Love the concept, brightness, and cleanliness of the place. And location is great; really close to home. Noticed lots of reviews talk about bad service...ours was just fine. The food was very hit and miss. The hits were the pork belly lettuce wraps, and the Wagyu burger sliders. Misses were the hummus/pita (bland), guacamole (bland), and pretzel tots (also bland). Also a problem was the glitches of the virtual bay computer. Tried to play multiple games, but it locked up several times while there. At the end, while playing golf, we just stopped because it wasn't sensing the ball. The employee that was there for support seemed to confirm that it was an ongoing problem. We came here with some friends to try it out on a random weeknight just to check it out since it's just down the street. Food was tasty (although a little overpriced for what you get), and the drinks were good. We stayed around to pay some pool (which you do have to pay for, which our server bemoaned because the pool tables weren't really up to his standards, but it's cheap to play). It was a little confusing because you end up needing to close out at your table in order to go play games, which is a little bit odd. You can also eat at the pool tables, which is also strange that they don't just offer that up front. Either way, would come back, it's a fun thing to do on a weeknight. I am surprised to see the overall rating for Spare Birdie! We finally went there today for lunch and everything we all ordered was fantastic! I had the short rib quesadilla and will have to order it again! All the ingredients just blended together and had a little kick! The hubs ordered the special BBQ sliders and devoured them. We also shared some Truffle Parmesan fries. The consistency of the fries was a mix between a French Fry and Frito dipper. The aioli was really good but not sure I would order the fries again. Our friends ordered different shareables and loved them all. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere. We were there for an early lunch and by the time we left, the golf bays were all full and the bowling lanes were being filled. So go early if you want a more peaceful setting. read more

Spare Birdie It's new and a great new place to hang out with lots of fun options. Went during their soft opening Saturday night just to check things out. My husband and I grabbed a drink at the bar with a very nice bartender. I selected Uncle Greg's Party ($13) and my husband ordered the first on the cocktail list it sounded like Bananafosters. I don't like bananas but it was delicious along with my drink. Both were very well made cocktails and worth every buck. They even stamp the cubed ice cubes with the logo which we thought was a nice touch. As busy as it was for a soft opening, we received our drinks in less than 10 min and proceeded to walk around and check out what they have to offer. They have 8 lanes of bowling with two huge screens playing the music video to the music that is playing. A little disappointed as how low the volume was though. You could barely hear the music if you stand by the pool tables which is right next to the lanes. Maybe a little louder so we can enjoy the music. As I mentioned they have pool tables, 3 to be exact and at the back end of where the tables are you can find three dart boards. Bowling is $45/60 min, pool $10/30 min and darts $5/30 min. It's a bit more expensive then somewhere like Fast Eddies but you don't get craft cocktails and I didn't have any food but everything I saw pass me by from the kitchen looked really, really good. Other fun things they have are virtual bays, putting green and bocce ball. Something for everyone. I know it was their soft opening and I liked what I experienced so, I'll be back. But we were told that there was a wait. We asked why we were still waiting for the bay and the hostess said well the bay has to be cleaned. Still nothing. We were really excited to try this place out, so we came tonight for my birthday, and boy do I regret it. We will not return. The good: the place is beautiful, and it's very clean. Food was good and did come quickly. Drinks were good but certainly overpriced. The bad: the experience here was awful. Loads of employees around on a slow Wednesday night and not one capable of providing the premium service that should come with the price tag on everything here. The subpar service began from the moment we walked in. It's really not clear how things worked, and I'd expect a place like this to come with a warm welcome and some detail on where to go and how to navigate the experience. Our servers both at the table and at bowling had a propensity for practicing their disappearing acts. After finishing our meal, we wandered for a few minutes to scope out which activity we'd like to do. We settled on bowling. Walked over to the bowling alley and weren't really sure what to do from there, so we headed back to the host stand. Someone was called on a radio before they instead opted for one of the hosts to take us to our lane. We were sat with no information and thought maybe someone would come to our table to help us out. Nope again. My boyfriend got up to get us bowling shoes from the girl leaning on the counter, and again we waited at our table. A server came by and went to check on everyone who had already been there, including going out of her way to interrupt another couple having an argument while we sat obviously having just arrived with no drinks and swapping our shoes. My boyfriend tried to get the attention of the two at the shoe counter, and one of them couldn't be bothered to look up from his tablet to help in any way (that's how he stayed the whole time we were there). Finally, the server that ignored us initially came and took a drink order, and once we had drinks, that was the last we saw of her. As we wrapped up, FOUR employees in this well over staffed place spent their time cleaning up around us, not one gave any acknowledgement. We waited. We hit the service button. We returned our shoes. We racked our balls. Still no server to close us out but plenty of staff around to see and ignore us. We went to the bathroom. And when my boyfriend headed to wait for me at the front, suddenly there she was, back from smoking outside and has the nerve to tell my boyfriend "I've been looking for you guys." Sure. In the bathroom for minutes, ignored at our table for nearly an hour, but she was looking for us. Over $150 for a shitty experience, but hey... at least it was pretty. And the employees seemed to enjoy themselves as they danced and cleaned around us and a group of four of em played pool when we left a half hour before close. LIES and HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We have been to this location back in April shortly after opening. Thought it was decent inside, played pool, ordered food and drinks and felt a bit rushed. Decided to ask friends to meet us out for another visit. These friends have a newborn and we had to plan 2 months in advance so they could find a sitter during a short window of time for them to get away to meet us. Called a month ago and explained this requirement. Was told there are no reservations on the weekend (which is a disappointment and customer inconvenience in itself) but to call on the day of and explain the requirement to see if we could be put on a waitlist. On the day of, drove by but the doors were locked. So I called and was told I could come in and put my name on the waitlist and they would keep us on there until we got there so we would be next up. Since they were not open, I had to go back home but my husband was in the area and went by an hour after I called. He was told "no." How can the policy change in an hour after calling? NONSENSE. I called and asked for the MOD. I believe it was Roland who answered. Explained the situation. He did not understand and I kept repeating the horrible experience and lies I was told. He asked if I could hold so he could go find out what happened. I said "unless you are going to fix this and accommodate us for the inconvenience, then there's no reason for me to be put on hold." He told me we could come in and put our name on the list and that we could be taken care of. I said "what does that mean?" His response was "just like any other customer who comes in." I said well, "why would we do that because you are the MOD and not managing the situation to fix it for unhappy repeat customers?" He just kept saying over and over again that there are no reservations on the weekends. In looking at the Yelp reviews, it looks like the service tends to be a chronic issue that has not been fixed. I've worked many years and know what it means to be a manager and provide a good experience for guests. If someone is bringing an issue to you as an unhappy customer, then as the manager, fix it. read more

Their drinks were good too. And you had to close your tab everytime you switched games/areas. For example we played darts. Tabbed out. Then played bowling. Tabbed out again. The pricing to play seemed expensive as well. $50 for 30 minutes of virtual games. $45 for bowling. And they charge to play darts which at other places it's usually free to play. Maybe it's just me but it seemed expensive for the length of time. I like the concept and feel they are trying to be an elevated bowling place with good food etc. which is appreciated. We were so excited for this place to open up. We stopped by as a last stop to date night since this is so close to where we live. Walked in and immediately had to "check-in" at the front desk. Did not have an option to look around and see what we wanted to try out. Seeing the prices were way higher than what we thought they would be, we did not feel comfortable choosing bowling or the simulation games without looking around. We opted for the bar to see if we can check out the ambience and take a peek at the activities so that we could decide what to do next. We sat at the bar for 10 mins with no greeting whatsoever. Bartenders passed us at least 8-9 times, even picked up the check from the customers before us & still no greeting. We gave it 5 more minutes and decided to leave. Keep in mind that we saw at least 10 drinks go out during this time. It's a small bar that's meant to serve the entire establishment. We definitely understand that it was a busy night and did not expect to be served as soon as we sat down, but the experience was not welcoming at all. Expecting a customer to know (2 steps in) what activity they will be enjoying, with no explanation or leniency in checking it out in our own AND then not even greeting seated customers at the bar left such a bad taste in our mouth. The interior was very nice and the layout was well planned. Didn't get to see the outdoor area due to it not being open yet but not a big deal. Staff was friendly and informative. The short rib was tender, however the veggie slices were too big. The dish did not seem cohesive as it looked like a slab of meat tossed on some gnocchi. Food was mediocre at best. Chicken and waffles sliders - the waffles were a bit undercooked, dip sauce was just odd. House salad, bitter and nasty, sent it back. Tomato bisque - fair. Crab cakes - fair. Caesar salad, good. Martinis mediocre and not served in proper martini glasses. Service was just terrible. Server was unpleasant, distracted and inefficient. When she dropped off waters and a soft drink, didn't even pause long enough for us to ask for straws. Waited for a long time to take our order. Gave our young adult son with autism a dirty look for simply saying hi. Never checked on us when we were eating and acted irritated when we told her my salad was terrible, but I didn't want to order anything else because we were totally done with the meal by that time. Disappointingly flat customer service. We are customers coming to try to spend money and have a great time celebrating our mom's birthday at your business. We tried to confirm our reservation by calling several times over a few days prior. No one picked up or returned our voicemails. When we did come in, it was two hours early. The young woman at the front desk offered no warmth or welcome. She shared that the days we had called to try to confirm our reservation were the busiest days so they couldn't get to the phone. As someone who manages a retail business, I am so unimpressed by that response. In a service economy, incompetent and flat communication is the equivalent of being unwelcoming. Even if it's not overtly rude, it makes the customer feel like they don't belong in your space. We completely understand that our reservation was at a different time and would be happy to come back later (although it's frustrating that we tried to confirm, but got no response). But our experience was soured not by the fact that we couldn't bowl at the time we had hoped, but by the flat response from the person at the desk who offered no empathy or engagement, not even a greeting when we approached them. While we understand they couldn't accommodate us early for bowling, the person working could have easily invited us to sit at one of the many open tables or sit at the bar while we waited for our bowling time a bit later. It's tough to want to come back to spend money when the service is so lackluster. read more

Living in the neighborhood we were really hoping this could be a our new local spot. We waited to be served at a table. Then moved to the golf simulator, which is VERY expensive. Then our time was up and we were told we could still sit at the bay. Our waiter said our golfing time was up and we had to move. He asked if we wanted any more drinks and we said we're okay for now and then brought us our checks even though we wanted more eventually.
