We enjoyed this place last night. The building is impressive. It's expansive and tastefully decorated. That said, the food was so-so. My food was delivered lukewarm. Not cold enough to send back but I could tell it had been sitting somewhere for a while before it arrived at our table. Considering we were two of a handful of diners at the time, it should have arrived piping hot. Our bartender also had a pretty heavy pour, which I usually appreciate. However, they were so heavy handed that my first drink was undrinkable and I had to send it back. My biggest gripe with this place is their ridiculous prices. $45 to bowl for an hour and they still charge to rent shoes? Insult meet injury! Don't get me wrong, we had fun in that hour and their lanes are super nice. Our service was also top notch. However, as impressive as they were, Spare Birdie won't be in a regular rotation for us. read more

Interesting place, but the service is terrible. Went on a weekday night and it was not very busy. That didn't stop the place from booking our small party of 4 right next to a large party of over 12 people crammed into 1 lane. Even though there was plenty of lanes open, we had people encroaching into our space. After asking the host to move us, they did. We then got asked what we wanted to drink ONCE the whole night. The drinks were terrible and watered down This place is great on paper, they probably get a lot of people in the door from how cool it looks, but the terrible service will leave a terrible memory in your brain always reminding you to never go back. read more

I've been anxiously awaiting my first visit. We won't be going back. Pros: there is plenty of friendly staff, unusual these days. The seating is very comfortable and lots of places to choose from. Cons: My husband and I were very disappointed in the HIGH prices for food, drinks and games. The food was bland. We ordered six grilled oysters which were the size of half dollar, shell included. The crab cake was flavorless to the point we had to use our queso (which wasn't too bad) to season it. The chips for the queso were stale. We didn't even play any games after learning how expensive an hour was going to be. I think this place could have been more fun, but I'm spending my next $200 night somewhere else. read more

Great facilities with four star pricing. The food waa decent but delivered at the three star level from a quality standpoint.. Soft opening & confusion in the service reflected that. No worries - they'll figure it out. Food was ok but not great. Short rib quite tender but lacking the depth & richness of flavor you normally get in that cut. Rosemary overpowered all other flavors in the chicken sandwich. Worth a visit - and we'll likely come back in a few months. read more

Tonight was my very time at Spare Birdie. My wife and I sat at the bar while our names were on the wait list to play bowling. The bar is absolutely beautiful. This place was fun but do not bring your children. We brought the family because after looking at their Instagram page and website we did not see anything that said adults only. In fact the opposite where there were pictures of children playing games and in the about section it says bring your family. We had fun in the virtual bay and the kids loved playing the zombie dodgeball game. Then we went to the bowling side, there was music and music videos playing very largely over the lanes, like most bowling alleys. This was clearly an adult playlist, I have no problem with language in songs playing overhead it's to loud to even really notice what they are saying. However a music video for a song called what what in the butt came on and was extremely inappropriate for kids. We brought this to the attention of staff and they got management. We did not even get an apology just an explanation of how this place was for adults only and it clearly states that on the website. Which it does not. I have attached photos of the website, Instagram posts the business put on their own profile and the music video that was shown very largely on the screen in front of my 3 year old. My husband and I decided to stop by for a little date Friday evening. We started off with food at the main dining area. It was very upscale and service was quick but we were also there on a Friday at noon. We got an appetizer, two drinks and two entrees. It came out to a total of $88 dollars. The food was very good but my favorite were the fries. You do have to check out at each separately area before going somewhere else. Afterwards we did an hour of bowling which was $45 for the hour. There is a different menu for the play areas which honestly I would have preferred to eat. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Overall a really neat place but kind of pricey. However we will definitely be coming back especially since it's so close to our home. read more

Expensive, but dare I say some of the best food I've had in Austin. Oysters, tomato soup and grilled cheese, brussels sprouts and bread pudding were all amazing. I had one really good cocktail but when I ordered a second one it came in a smaller glass and was way stronger. The balance was off and the experience wasn't the same without the martini glass. We went there on a Friday afternoon with family to enjoy bowling and virtual games. The place was not busy but they shut down the virtual bay for a small party and the bowling area was mostly reserved even though it was dead. What is the point of being open to the public if you are going to let people reserve? It should be first come, first serve basis. You might as well just be open for private parties. read more

We came in on a Sunday night and there was like a total of 15 people there (oddly dead). First thing I noticed was the obnoxiously loud music. The music was SO LOUD. Like volume 100. Our server was a bit odd - we didn't feel like she really knew what was going on the whole entire time. It wasn't busy at all, so I don't really get why the service was off. Service = meh. We also couldn't really hear her because our ears were being blasted off. Our food was alright. It was kinda too pricey for what we had. I mean I got a grilled chicken sandwich, but it wasn't anything special. After we ate, we played darts for 30 minutes. It was only five bucks which was nice! No complaints about the darts. I would add some signs or something that guides people that haven't been there before in the right direction so they don't feel so awkward when they walk in. Way overpriced drinks and food was disgusting. This place tries to appeal to high end clientele but the food quality compared to Golden Corral at best. To top it off, probably some of the worst service I've had post covid. The service was horrendously slow and the 2-3 servers in our area consistently complained that it doesn't matter how much they get tipped because half their tip is taken away and paid out to non tipped workers. They basically didn't care to work harder than necessary and if their loosing money like that , I can't blame them . This tells me the management is too cheap to pay their staff a decent wage if they rely on their servers to pay any portion of their money earned . The games were expensive and for a family of 4 to spend nearly $400 for dinner , drinks & entertainment in under 2 hours was ridiculous (and that was be trying to be cheap about it ). I don't see this place lasting long if they don't change their business model. Pay your employees better so they want to actually come to work and maybe adjust your pricing so an average family can actually have fun and now have buyer's remorse after visiting ! read more

This place is super cool. Very well appointed and has a classy feel. There was a band the night we went. They have Adirondack chairs set out on turf grass in front of the stage. You can chill out or play Corn Hole while listening listen to live music under the stars. On the inside, you can have a nice meal, hang out at the bar, shoot pool, play darts, go bowling, and more. You can rent your own virtual games area where you can play golf, baseball, football, soccer, shooting games, and more. That part was really cool. I played so much I was sore the next day. The only negetive is that it is pricey, but I am sure it cost them millions to build this place. read more

Love this place so much! However our last waiter was probably the worst waiter I have ever had. He made our Father's Day lunch miserable. I had to ask multiple times just for water. No silverware, no napkins, half our food came out and 1hour later 2 of our meals were not out yet. We ended up canceling the meals. He brought them out when we were paying. What a show. I think he forgot to order the meals. We will come again but I hope this server is not the norm. read more

Read a few negative reviews about the food here but gave it a shot anyway. I don't know what those reviews were talking about. Maybe they stopped at Taco Bell for food first? I mean, it's a little more upscale than Chuck E. Cheese, so maybe that's why people dogged on the food? Personally, the food is great and the service has been amazing! One of the pool tables leans a little because my girlfriend was able to beat me in pool a couple of times. Atmosphere/ambiance was on point. Bowling was fun and priced fair. Drinks felt a bit watered down. The food needs work. What a cool spot this place is and has so much upside. But the food needs some major work. We got the crab cakes and I honestly have no clue what the hell we ate but it was really bad. And then I got the banana fosters because of the picture on Yelp, and we ended up with a gluten free square of zero flavor, super doughy and a complete let down. We complained about both items but still paid for them. I really hope they can adjust their food because having a one stop spot in the neighborhood is great. Keep it simple and deliver on taste. $365 for basically some hors d'oeuvres, a glass of wine, a few beers and two really bad chicken sandwiches. Very limited menu, (what sports bar doesn't have wings?). Selection of wine and beer was very limited and they were out of two of the beers on the menu. The place itself, (bar, bowling and sports bays) is a good concept, unfortunately the rest was disappointing. Plenty of screens to watch sports, so it might be a good place for that, but stick to just drinks. Overpriced for the quality of everything else. read more

So to start, we were excited to have this type of venue. My husband talked about it for weeks! When we walked in they gave us eating options and we said we would like to bowl. Not once was it mentioned it would be $45 for one game! Our lane was stopped 3 times! We had to go to the 3 people attending for help. Resatarted the game several times. It still was not fixed! Then we got the bill for $45! My husband later walked over there to tell them how it was not right to charge this when it was never told to us originally and our lane had major malfunctions. There was no comp, no let's make this right. Nothing! We proceeded to the bar. Oysters were soaked in water. Soaked. Nasty and no flavor. You guys need to refund our entire night. It was a let down. My second time trying this place. It's a nice venue and the food is good yet pricey which I don't mind. The service dining at the table was great. The service bowling was terrible. We get a lane and the person passing out the shoes didn't seem to know what was going on. We get our shoes and setup bowling. Took forever to get a server. Server comes and takes a drink order and we begin bowling. Our lane time expired so we went to the young man passing out shoes asking how to extend. He said he doesn't think they are extending lanes tonight which I thought was an odd response. So I go to the host stand and wait to ask someone about extending the lanes. Host was talking to someone just hanging out and finally acknowledged us. He said our server can extend the bowling. So we walked around trying to find our server and she was hanging at the bar talking to people. Got her to extend and ordered another cocktail. As we were about to start the 10th frame the game shuts off and a young girl says she is sorry that she shut it off. We were the only ones bowling at that moment so seemed odd that that was a "mistake". So we say that's fine and turn in our shoes. Then the hunt for our server starts again so we can close out. It took us 15 min or so to find her. So many aspects of this place are great but after spending over $300 the service just isn't worth it. read more

Our first visit to the Cedar Park venue was on a Saturday night. It was fun for our large (11 person) family, since we reserved two bays for the sports games. Good food, and the server was very nice. One of the family members paid the check, and commented "not bad for $25 per hour". One month later we went back, again on a Saturday night, reserved one bay, and at the end of two hours received the check and they had charged us for "2 @ $40 each" plus $25 for a reservation, plus food and drink costs. When we questioned a) why 2 bays? b) why $40 times 2, c) why $25 for the reservation fee, and d) why a $20% Large Party charge for the entire bill, we were met kindly by a Manager who pointed out that their charges are clearly on the website. In checking their website, the bay charges are listed under "Gaming" in the top information bar and the Friday-Saturday reservation fee of $25 is listed separately under "Reserve" in another part of the top information bar. Furthermore, the $40 charges are mentioned at the top of the Gaming list as "per hour". FINALLY I began to understand that we had been charged $40 for each of two hours, plus the reservation fee of $25 (so, $105 for 2 hours for one bay, reserved via phone). (Customers cannot reserve a bay via Open Table, so we are forced to call the restaurant for bay, putting green, and bowling reservations.) We were confused and asked to talk to the General Manager. When we asked why the 20% Service Charge was for everything, rather than just for food and beverage service, he admitted that did not make sense and gave us a discount, on a separate receipt from the original receipt. So far, only the original amount of the bill is appearing on my credit card account, without the one showing the discount (I realize it is pending and could change). Not only was a bill approaching $400 an extraordinary amount for 2 hours of fun and eating shareables and appetizers (not dinners) exorbitant and unexpected, but it could have been prevented by making the website easier to read, and to know exactly the prices of the "fun" part of the night. The receptionist on the phone did mention the "$25 fee for a bay reservation" (which is confusing), BUT - she said nothing such as "in addition to the bay fee". Furthermore, when calling to make a reservation, a properly-trained receptionist should say something like - "please check our website for the bay fees and check out our menu at the same time". A customer should not have to look in one place to find fees not clearly described as "per hour" and another place to find that a separate reservation fee is charged in addition to the bay/lane/putting green hourly fees! And while it probably does mention that a $20% large party fee will be charged for everything including reservation and bay fees, few people have time to try to find it anywhere on the website. One more thing - if Friday and Saturday is their busiest time, which is the reason for charging $25 for a reservation, does that mean that walk-ins on non-busy Friday and Saturday have to pay for a reservation? This entire business, in my opinion, exists not to entertain customers, but to simply rake in the bucks. Sorry - I doubt we will return to this place. It's simply not worth the money. read more

My sister made reservations for Monday at 5 for my whole family and hers for my birthday. She recently moved to the area. We have 7 small children between the 2 of us ranging from 7 to 1. I was astonished right away as we were bowling to see theater sized screens behind the bowling game with a music video of Maroon Five displaying 2 people appearing to act like they were having sex. I immediately went to the manager to tell him my concerns in my children staring at this theater sized screen right in front of them. He told me this wasn't a family friendly establishment. In the entire 1.5 hrs we were there saw 5 other families all with small children that appeared my childrens age and younger. A non family friendly establishment with a soccer and baseball virtual game and bowling?! I also witnessed another stripper music video that i had to tell my son and niece to close their eyes. If you have children and you don't want them seeing such large graphic videos, do not come to this place. read more
