Great place for a fun family date night. Even though it's in our backyard, it's easy to forget it's here. We met up recently with a group of friends to enjoy dinner followed by bowling and video games. We were pleasantly surprised by the food -- it's a notch above what you typically expect from "bowling alley cuisine." I loved my Frito pie-style chili, and the margarita wasn't bad, either. Bowling was fun (I like that you can customize your score screen with player photos) and the arcade isn't as loud and sensory-overkill as some other places. Okay I tried this place out since my last visit. We took our oldest here for his birthday. We had a great time with our family and friends. The kids enjoyed themselves in two games of laser tag. When we went to sign up for a couple of bowling lanes we got the VIP room. Our service in the VIP was great due to our waiter Tom S. That gentleman went above and beyond to keep us happy and with adult drinks along with our kids and their kid drinks. He helped serve the kids when the pizza was arrived as we were bowling. I didn't noticed it at the time but my wife told me about it and said to mention his name on here for that reason. That truly touched my inner happiness because you don't see people like that anymore these days. Tom S. you're great and kind person for that. Tom knew the menu in and out. He had an answer to all our questions regarding the menu. As for alcoholic beverages he kept us filled and kindly took care of us all the way until we left. The facility was very clean overall. Still kind of confusing walking in but the staff knew where to direct you when you ask them "where do I go?" LoL. The video games area has improved since it first opened. A lot more diversity for your kids and the kid in you to have fun. My daughter won a big stuffed animal that also got stuck on the machine crane. My oldest son and his friend talked about how the staff helped her get the big stuffed animal off the crane. I have to say overall I was impressed with place and will continue to come have fun here. This is my first time actually eating at spare time. I went with my boyfriend and our friends, we had a couple of beers along with mozzarella sticks, Southwest eggrolls and my boyfriend had a shrimp Po boy of course. The environment was so fun in the adult bowling area, they have less lanes and it is 21 and older so it makes it a lot more enjoyable to have a few drinks with your friends and just bowl. All the appetizers were great, the Southwest eggrolls were spicy but the corn, beans and chicken went well with the spicy southwest sauce and ranch. Our friend had the mozzarella sticks which were crispy on the outside but gooey cheese on the inside it tasted great with the marinara sauce. My boyfriend loved his shrimp Po boy, he wishes there were more shrimp on it but other than that the experience was great and we will definitely be back to bowl soon read more

We went on a Wednesday to take advantage of the all you can play game and laser tag for $12 each. That part was a lot of fun. It was nice to be able to do all the games and not worry about the balance on the card. Some games were out of order but I felt with that deal we still got our money's worth. Now the deal doesn't start till 5 and we got out of a dentist appointment and made it in by 430 so we decided to eat first. We got seated and waited about 15 minutes until I went and asked the girls at the snack bar where the server was. They told me to go ask the front so I went to the front and they were very nice and said they would find out and apologized while another girl offered to get our drinks. We still waited another 15 minutes until the server came to get our order and secure a credit card. We order the appetizer sampler but man did it seem to take her forever to get it to us. Not only was the service just slow but the server maybe said a few words to us the whole time and never checked on us or nothing. I've been another time with a friend and service was way better and it was busy so maybe because it was slow she felt she could just match the vibe but either way I would've appreciated a better dining experience. Wow, what a pretty looking bowling alley. Only, that's about it. There are plenty of arcade games for kids to enjoy, as well as laser tag. Plenty of entertainment all around, but the wait time for a bowling lane just blows! It was cool entering this playland at first, until we sat at the bar simply to grab a drink while we wait. But I'll get back to that in a minute. Here's a bit about the place: ~ Plenty of parking. ~ Kinda like DnB with the "tickets and prize" monetary system playing skee-ball, basketball, video games, etc. ~ Night bowling and drinking for the adults at The Pin House. Alcohol/food service. ~ Good for kid parties. The dining area seems clean as the hostess and waiters were wiping them all down. ~~ Each table even has an outlet by the lamp to charge your phone if needed. ~ Now let's talk about Shakers Bar... We sat down at the bar. Waited. Bartender walks by. Not even a smile. Not even an acknowledgement. Fine, whatever. All the bar stools were taken, but it wasn't really busy. Another customer stood next to us waiting to order a drink as well, only he couldn't take it and left. Nearly 7 minutes later and he walked away pissed. We sat around for a good 10 minutes, and still nothing. The bartender(s) were just cleaning as if there weren't any customers. AT LEAST SAY SOMETHING... Friday evening me and a group of friends were racially profiled they mentioned that an employee said we were coming in and out taking shots outside, when we asked for camera footage they said there was not any available for us to see, I then called a manger named Doug and also spoke to the general manager Stefan he said that he spoke to his staff and told us that we were being disrespectful and I would not be able to get my refund back, none of us were being disrespectful, only thing we said was to show us the footage that they refused to do. The general manager told us we are not allowed to go back. I've been to this place a few times over the years and always thought it was pretty decent. My most recent trip there may be my last. The place has really gone downhill in a hurry. We spent most of our time in the arcade and it just wasn't how I remembered if from a few years ago. I counted 12 arcade games that were out of order! And some of the other games that were technically working were really in rough shape as well.  Broken displays, cracked plastic, LEDs not lighting up, etc. Also wanted to add that they had some games that you would assume to be paying out tickets (because they do at other arcades) but did not at Spare Time. That was a real surprise and just shows how "tight" they are on paying out tickets in general. And once you find a game that does pay out tickets, the ticket output is really low compared to other local businesses. Then we checked out the prize area (to redeem our tickets), and we just didn't have enough tickets to get anything good. If that wasn't enough of a rip-off for you, consider that they had a $1 crane game where you could try to win a plush. But the crane was huge (like for an 8- or 10-inch toy) and the plush toys were tiny, like 3 inches. That crane will NEVER grab and hold one of those tiny plushies. So this game is taking dollar after dollar and never rewarding anyone with a toy plush. It was a very frustrating experience and it's obvious that management doesn't care enough about their arcade floor to allow the customers to actually have fun & feel like they got their money's worth. Went to spare time yesterday and we bought unlimited passes for laser tag, bowling & arcade games. The kids played arcade games for hours, we ordered food (good, but lukewarm) & then we went to bowl. They were waiting patiently all evening & at 9pm there were multiple lanes (4-5) open, but we were told it was a 2.5 hour wait. No one told us we had to reserve a lane when we got there, especially when they were empty! The place was clearing out and instead of giving us a lane, the lanes stayed empty. Really poor customer service. Kids don't want to return. A lot of the games weren't working and then not being able to bowl soured them. We paid over $100 for the passes, $75 in food/drinks & we honestly could have paid a la carte for games and saved $60-75 dollars. Cool place. The convenience of this place to my house is awesome, door to door about 3 miles. I like that in one spot i can feed the kiddo, play games/bowl, watch sports, and enjoy an adult beverage...I mean how cool is that. We have eaten here on several occasions and the food has been tasty. We've gotten the burgers, pizza, cheese fries, and wings. My young one liked their lemon pepper wings, and believe me she is picky about here wings. Wifey likes their pizza. To my surprise it was actually pretty good pizza. I like their Cowboy burger with fries. The games are cool and fun to play. I'd like to see a bigger selection of games but then again my kid would probably spend more money faster on the games. The selection of games is not a vast as say a Dave & Busters or Main Event. I've seen some reviews comparing Spare time to these other places and they have a valid point Spare time is not as big or has as good a selection. Well, I guess my experience with Southern/Texas hospitality couldn't have gone on and on... Just moved to the area and have been looking for things to keep my teen boys busy this summer. Got excited to see that this place had a "kids bowl in the summer" promotion. So after working all day, we did the 30min ish drive to this place. When we got there at 5pm, the place looked newer, clean, not crowded and a lot of options so we were really looking forward to spending some time there tonight. We got our free game and the three of us were having a great time...we started ordering food thinking that we would be able to get our food and if we were done with this game (we take only about 20 minutes to bowl a game) I could extend just one more and then we'd go explore the rest of the place. Like I thought, we were ending our game early and we didn't get our food so I walked over to pay and extend for one more game. They said that there were a lot of folks waiting (there were four lanes wide open) so we had to end right then and there. When I asked about our food that we haven't gotten, they said to grab our drinks and go wait in the LOBBY...keep in mind that the restaurant was WIDE open...I think that there was only one table that was occupied. I started talking to a manager (I didn't get his name) and he said he'd be right back to speak with me but we could go pick any seat. So we did and our server from the bowling section came over and asked kind of irritated oh you are here now? I have to move your ticket over (again annoyed)....where else were supposed to go...really, just sit in the lobby with our drinks? So we decided to just leave and go to Dave and Busters (where I'm writing this from) to be able to recover some of the night. I went to the front desk to ask for our bill so I could pay for the drinks, they pointed me to another manager/a female and I explained the entire situation and said we are just going to go and she said, "ok then...go ahead and go" Seriously...!? Finally that initial manager came back over and he offered a gift card for the headache. Great place to bowl. Fun for kids, they have the built-in rails and you can even set them to pop up for certain players so you can play WITH your kids. They have a decent food menu and a full bar. We were told all the lines were reserved and we had to wait for one hour and a half to be able to play. I asked the receptionist if I could then reserve a line for the day after on the afternoon and I was told that they don't hold reservations so I was scratching my head to the fact that I couldn't play because the lines were reserved but I couldn't reserved one for tomorrow. Since it was my daughters birthday I decided to wait because she really wanted to play and so I bought her (and 2 of her friends) a card for them to play the arcades while we waited. It was very very pricey. We waited for one hour and NOT A SINGLE PERSON came to the lines and played. I don't understand what happened but I never was able to order any food. My kids and I were completely ignored by service staff. We took advantage of the Summer Fun Pass, and I paid for one extra kid who didn't qualify. Told my kids we'd order food and I used the call button several times but no one ever showed. Meanwhile, tables all around us used the same button and they received service and got their food. Imagine being over an hour with 5 kids alone having them beg for the dinner I said we'd eat with bowling! I have toddlers so couldn't just run to the counter easier to demand service. But why would I want to feel like I'm forcing them to take my money anyway. My only guess is with Summer Fun Pass you can't get that kind of service at your lane, but then you think they'd at least have the courtesy to come tell me that. I feel discriminated against. What a shame, because I could actually have seen myself doing dinner + bowling here with the family on a weekly basis. 1st Time wasn't so bad. 2nd time however, I am extremely disappointed and embarrassed. Took my family here to bowl looking for a good time. Paid, got our shoes , grabbed our balls... literally 5 mins in and the seat isn't even warm. A staff member told us that the lane is already taken and asked us to wait 20-30 mins. The staff member said she got radio in by her manager ( after we settled in our lane) saying that our lane is reserved. We were literally ripped out of our lane! This is embarrassing. I asked for a refund and she called the manager over. He then said if we could wait 15-30mins, which I refused ... Look, the manager clearly wasn't doing his job right. If there was a bowling event happening , all the staff members should have been acknowledged. Not 5 mins after giving the lane to somebody else. The manager asked if we could wait , I refused bc the people after us , they got their lane and we had to wait 15-30mins when this clearly was not our fault. Then he said we could start , but then we would be transferred , once the league game starts. And we would have to wait for an opening lane ... Ummm no thanks. That's a lot of trouble. After they refunded and returned my card , he noticed my "spare time" game card ... and then he had the audacity to say , "I was going to give you some points for the arcade to kill some time." That's not something a manager should say to a customer who refused their offer walking away. That was just more upsetting. Not returning. read more

Choose this place for a work gathering on Taco Tuesday. This place was located close to a majority of my coworkers so it made it more convenient than myself but It was a decent drive through the backroads as I was not going to drive I35 northbound at 5pm. Drinks were ok, Tacos were ok-had breaded shrimp taco and a chicken (the chicken was a bit spicy which the girls complained about). The Bowling was a good price-shoes were not the best as they are velcro closure and wide. They had a good variety of balls. Facility also has a games area which I can see being a good family place to be. We enjoyed ourselves. This was our first experience at SpareTime. We went in Good Friday and didn't know really what to expect. I thought it was just bowling but it's way more. We got a great deal and we're able to play the games, Bowl and do laser tag all unlimited. The one thing that would have been better about that was if they would award tickets when you play; like Chuckecheese does on Wednesday. Besides that it was awesome. We bowled first and the lanes are great. Enough space to spread out and the comfy seating. I love that if one only one person wants bumpers they come up when tag the person is up. My personal bowling shoes broke while I was bowling and one of the workers tried very hard to fix then for me. I thought that was above and beyond! Unfortunately it didn't work so I had to use their shoes. They do need to work on the soles of their shoes!! The waitress we had was Lorena and she was a-ma-zing!! She kept up with our form of crazy with a smile and tracked us down when we left the ally to play games and the back to bowling. She was spot on even when the jerk across from us was giving her a hard time. Kudos to Loreana!! The laser tag was so fun! I had never been before so this was a great first experience. Came with a group of 11 ppl on a Friday afternoon, we decided to grab a bite to eat before getting into the activities. Our server kept forgetting our drinks and the service was extremely slow. We had to constantly ask for our original request which got annoying. I ordered the sampler platter appetizer and the egg rolls and fried mozzarella were yummy. While giving this establishment a 1 star may seem harsh to some, it feels generous on my end. I recently visited with some very good friends of mine, and it felt like we were living a series of unfortunate events. Our first concern should have been when we walked into the door, and asked the two girls at the front about seating at The Shaker's restaurant that the feature (and is literally right behind them) they seemed confused about us asking to be seated at the restaurant they supposedly are poised to be hostesses of. It turns out, everyone else we encountered was equally as clueless about why they were there. Upon walking in, there's a poster advertising a nice chicken and pasta meal on the poster for Shakers. But even using a magnifying glass, you won't find this on their menu. And none of the staff have any idea this poster exists, despite it being at the entrance to where you are seated (but again, they didn't seem to know there was a restaurant there). Calling it a restaurant turned out to be quite the stretch. I didn't catch the waitress's name, but I'm not sure she knew it, either. After taking all of our orders, she seemed to have already forgotten what she had already wrote down? For there to have been only two other sets of tables seated in the restaurant, our drinks took an exceptionally long time to be served to us, being told the bar was "backed up". Yet hardly a soul to be seen. Our food took even longer, with at one point us considering leaving but not wanting to inconvenience since the food was assumed to be in the making. We may have been bold in our assumptions on that. Our drinks eventually came, and much, much, later our food came. All during this extended period of time, we were continually begging for the simple necessities of silverware and napkins, which felt an unreasonable ask as it took a monumental effort to get this request fulfilled. The burger I had was actually pretty decent. Our table had ordered chips and queso. They served us 1,000,000 chips and a tiny bowl of what tasted like a mixture of mustard, paint thinner, and Elmer's glue. The onion rings were decent but greasy. My dear friend couldn't stomach her burger and had to send it back to the kitchen much faster than the manner in which it was served. The salads my other friends ordered I heard no real gripes about that I can recall. The last leg of our adventure, involved trying to pay our check. (I'm omitting the part where, despite an open land field of tables to sit people, they decided to fit a family of what felt like 17 at the booth directly behind us, in which the members of the family were constantly hovering over our table to interact with the rest of their crew because they weren't allotted a proper amount of space. And I felt my own personal space was heavily violated and made to feel extremely uncomfortable and anxious). We ask for our checks to be separated, in which the server had to ask each of us again what all we had ordered. I guess she wrote in invisible ink beforehand. After she wrote down and made specific notes on what we all had ordered, she tries to pull up our bills on the kiosk. Which is giving her a heck of a hard time. She eventually figures out that she has assigned our checks to a kiosk that's not even on our table, but figures out the whole debacle nonetheless. Or so we thought. We go to look at our bills, and all of our orders are scrambled and nothing is 100% correct on what we all ordered. Even though she specifically wrote it down again (a second time). We were exasperated at this point and just figured out the totals amongst ourselves of what would be closest to what we should have owed. We didn't have any extra time we wanted to devote to trying to get this travesty sorted out (again). We had intended to have a fun night of bowling, games, dinner, and drinks. What we received was an absolute nightmare of a poorly mismanaged circus guising themselves as a reputable food source. I'd recommend taking a nap in the middle of I-35 as a more enjoyable experience than what we received here. Great place to hang out sometimes with my kids, as they love the arcade games, laser tag, and I enjoy kicking their butts in bowling. The staff personel are great, friendly and a good professional group of folks. Definitely have to give a special thanks to Ellie and Blanka. Ellie was graciously understanding, as my two kids were overly excited to play laser tag, and couldn't decide which vest they wanted. And Blanka was super nice to my youngest kid, as it was his birthday. Definitely one of my favorite places to take my kids, and highly recommended for family fun. Five stars! read more

Spare Time is a fantastic way to spend some of your... do I dare say... spare time.. when you are looking to have some fun. The bowling alleys are clean and they have a lot of cool features to make bowling more enjoyable and entertaining then a normal spot. We also played in the arcade which was tons of fun. The package we bought included unlimited Lazer tag, and even though we discovered how terrible of a Lazer-Tagger I am, I still had a lot of fun in the arena. Overall, everyone who worked there was hospitable and really took the time to make sure we were taken care of and that we were enjoying ourselves.
