Why 4 stars? Because my 2nd trip here was much better than the 1st. --- --- --- 2 years earlier, I ordered some the Wisconsin Cheese Head burger and was so sad that I did not really enjoy it much. It had all of the potential in the world, but was a big let down. Fast forward 730 days or so, and the Wisconsin Cheese Head wasn't even on the menu anymore. Was it because of my review? I'd like to think so. (It was not.) But my eyes immediately went to the Cowboy burger, which was a BBQ burger - something that will pretty much get me every time. It was a significant upgrade and worthy of an updated review +1 star. The fries were just ok, but the burger was excellent. Unfortunately some other people at the table were not as happy with their orders (loaded nachos, other burgers), but mine was really enjoyable and it's my review, after all. We did not indulge, but the milkshakes that some other tables around us ordered were so hilariously large. Like, nearly the size of some of the kids who ordered them. As a lactose intolerant person, I probably would have actually died had I attempted to finish one, so I enjoyed the view from afar. read more

We had visited this restaurant a few years ago when we stayed at Kalahari & we didn't like it. During this stay, I thought maybe it had improved but I was wrong. The service at the hosts desk was the beginning of a very bad experience. They were not friendly or welcoming at all!! I specifically asked for a table but she didn't care to make that note. They simply took my name & number & said you'll get a text when it's ready. About 35 minutes later, we got the text and it was unclear who was going to show us to our table, we were finally escorted to a booth, we asked for a table & he just walked back to the front without saying anything soooo we just followed and found ourselves just walking in circles. Finally, we sat down and then it took about 10 minutes before we called on a waiter passing by and he happened to be our waiter. It was almost closing time on a Tuesday so we just ordered our drinks & food. My daughter asked for the pecker fries with NO meat. Well, when we got the food it had fried chicken on it, which was also very hard & gross. Our "sweet tea" was more like water with a hint of tea. We hardly saw the waiter, we were tired, thirsty, hungry & ready to go so we didn't complain. The Caesar salad was okay, my mom liked the chili & my son also ordered a chocolate milkshake & thought it would be a simple shake but instead, it was this huge thing... so he wasn't happy. We didn't get silverware so we had to ask for some from the lady who brought the food. We never got any refills or asked if we needed anything. It was just a horrible experience. Do yourself a favor & just skip this place. It's NOT worth it. We paid $81 for a shake, fries with hard fried chicken, a cup of chili & a Caesar salad with shrimp. This is located next to the Tom Fullery Adventure Center. This restaurant has bar seating, dining room seating and a bowling alley. We sat in the dining room. We came for the desserts since we saw the pictures and hug shake in front of the restaurant. The shakes are HUGE! The Oreo Shake was delicious and definitely needs to be shared. They also offer a mint, peanut butter, banana pudding, birthday cake and donut shake. This is a great place to eat with the family anytime of the day. read more

Inside the Kalahari Resort, next to the Tom Foolery arcade & a short walk from the waterpark entrance makes this place super convenient. It has a large bar and a bowling alley but our group opted for the tables. There was 7 of us & we were greeted quickly, drinks & water arrived fast also. The waiter was very patient with our questions & complex orders. She was very nice. The food was average for a resort. Typical offerings of burgers that were good but not great. The portions were huge though! The drinks were good, a lil watered down. The milkshakes were AMAZING! So rich, delicious, and HUGE! 2.5 of us couldn't finish it after the big meal. Service is super slow! There was hardly anyone in the restaurant and it took almost an hour just to get our food. So be prepared to spend two hours here to eat. I would come back, but I would be prepared to order as soon as I sat down. The waiter tends to disappear for long periods of time. I usually tip 20 to 30% but this time I only do 10%. In the four straight years we have been dining here, my family has never been glutened. Some of them have celiac's disease. I am soo thankful the waiter, Rehan, the chef and manager take this disease seriously. I am also amazed that the chef and manager personally delivered our meals to the table. They showed care and concern. Other vacations have been dampened bc of cross contamination and then getting violently sick bc of it. The food is also very flavorful ie their portobello burger with a surprising double patty and my fave, the salad with candied jalapeños, see photo. It's so huge I always pack leftovers. Hand lunch with my cousins. Got an app and some wings. The wings were fine but didn't realize that it didn't include fries and it was separate. I really enjoyed the giant pretzel and the classic burger. The hubs and the kids enjoyed their burgers too. And they have the good ranch, if you know what I mean. I went here on a date night with my husband for happy hour and I tried a boozy milkshake as well as some other cocktails and the nachos. I will say that we went here a few years ago and it was really bad. The service sucked and the food wasn't that great but they seemed to have revamped a lot and the service was really great, the food is still very pricey but you're in a resort so that it's to be expected. It's a nice vibe and it was a fun day night. I also took my daughter a few weeks later for a mommy daughter date and we got the regular milkshakes as well and they were delightful. read more

For this to be a large and busy resort, the restaurant was really cleaned and the food arrived in impressive amount of time. All entrees were good with the exception of the butterfly shrimp being a little too battered for our liking. The service was good, and the manager addressed the fried shrimp dislike and made a great suggestion for a substitute with the firecracker shrimp. read more

During our Thanksgiving week stay at Kalahari Resort, we decided to try B-Luxe Grill & Bar for lunch. Honestly? I wish we hadn't. Let me start by saying I understand resort dining isn't cheap, so I wasn't surprised by the prices. What I didn't expect was everything else. The service was painfully slow and borderline unfriendly. Our server was... well, stoic is a good word for it. Not rude, but definitely not warm or welcoming. Drinks took forever to arrive, and while the server did apologize a couple of times, it didn't really help when we could clearly see the restaurant was mostly empty. I ordered a burger, well-done, and it arrived medium. Normally, I'd send it back, but after waiting so long for the food, I just didn't have the energy to complain. The burger itself? A disaster. The patty was lukewarm, the bun was cold and stale (though the logo branding on the bun was cute, I'll give them that), and the flavor was... nonexistent. The only thing I actually liked were the fries. For the price and resort location, I expected much more. Honestly, the food inside the waterpark is better--and that's saying something. The Bean went for one of our favorite pastimes; Bowling!!! Stopped in at B-Lux, the eatery inside of Kalahari, to hit some pins and dine on some appetizers. This trip would be five stars if not for the fact that the reception desk And the bowling desk was left unattended for over ten minutes. I mean we literally waited almost fifteen minutes. However once received, we got our lane swiftly, the young man was very pleasant and we were off to our lane. The Bean is as very gifted bowler that she even attracted some young fans who applauded every time she got a strike or spare (I'm not mad lol). The evening found us being served by a kindred spirit in comic book fandom, Aaron. Super expedient server and very courteous. Drinks came out lightning fast, food even faster. I had the dragon berry mojito while the been tackled her dining staple, Dr Pepper. We had the brisket tacos and firecracker shrimp. The tacos were topped with something akin to coleslaw, but it worked!! They were amazing. The shrimp were tossed in a glaze and garnished with salad. At least that's what it looked like but they were sweet and spicy. They had to be good because the Bean kept eating them despite her aversion to spicy food. I lost both games but it was a good time had by all. It's a small bowling alley. Only about ten lanes. Very clean and organized. They don't do leagues, so this would make a great choice for a fun date night or just an evening with friends. read more

My family and I went to this restaurant after going to the Kalahari water park, feeling hungry. We waited about 40 minutes for our food to come out when the restaurant was only half full. For two burgers with fries, a kid's meal, with no beverages, our tab came out to around $70 before tip. This place is so cool. I thought for sure it would have overpriced low quality food considering where it is/ what it is but man I was left speechless. First of all, their bowling is so freaking cool. Glow in the dark meets black light party vibes and the pricing for bowling was extremely fair, especially for the fun environment. The restaurant area itself was very clean, almost spotless. Our server Sam was excellent and very attentive. He recognized we were there for a good time and recommended tons of great options for us. The food, holy cow. The food was DELICIOUS. The wait to get this small order was 58 minutes, totally unacceptable. The hostess Ana went back to the kitchen three times asking about the order and was told each time, "it's almost ready." She was very polite and helpful. I asked to speak to the manager, James. He didn't seemed surprised nor concerned that this order took so long. He did not make the situation better at all. After the long wait, our grill food was cold and half of it was thrown away. In the real world (outside of this resort) this place would never make it because people wouldn't come back. My bf and I read reviews as we waited on our food and were almost hesitant on ordering the milkshakes given the reviews. Then I realized, people (myself included) tend to complain about any slight inconvenience but this is a kid experience and so much less about us adults. Our burgers were tasty, Mac and cheese is a size-able potion, and our service both times was spot on. Manager also walked around asking people how things were. Now for the milkshakes, get the milkshake. For $15 you get your IG worthy pic, a happy child and a not overly creamy and weighing down milkshake. Stopped by for a quick drink and since I didn't have anything to eat yet I decide to order sweet onion rings and request to make it half and half with fries and they did it for me. The mojito was so hood, perfectly flavored. The sauce for the rings and fries were sooooo good I have to request for more.
