First time coming here after a fried recommended this place. I called in for a last minute appointment on a Saturday, and they were able to accommodate me. I don't normally get pedicures, but this one was definitely top class! I got the signature pedicure and it came with hot stone and wax. Faye was very attentive and so sweet. She made sure to explain what she was doing and even though I was the last appointment before closing, she wasn't rushing. Instead, I think she spent more time and effort than a pedicure would've normally taken. I came after a hike where my feet were so sore. The specialty pedicure with Vicki was amazing! My feet were in pretty rough shape after a hiking trip, and Vicki very thoroughly scrubbed and buffed off the dead skin to leave my feet nice and soft. I had a great experience having a pedicure with Vicki. So listen, folks, it can be a little uncomfortable as a guy to get a pedicure sometimes, which is why I often put it off even though I need to do it regularly because for various physical reasons I can't trim my own toenails too well. So I always delay because it's awkward to go to random nail salons as a guy and I haven't really found one that works for me. UNTIL NOW! SpaRenity is great -- it basically feels like you're in your own private cubby because you actually are, with only two chairs per cubby (instead of the usual whole long line of chairs in the open room of a typically loud nail place). And the other chair was empty when I had my appointment, so I really did have my own private experience. Which is great if you're feeling self-conscious, and also it's just more relaxing that way. SpaRenity has calm music playing -- not too loud, not too soft -- and the ambience overall is also really nice. Good lighting, peaceful colors, and a smell that's pleasant without being overpowering. In general, they've got a perfect feel that matches their name, SpaRenity, a place where you can feel comfortable and not overpowered or rushed -- just taken care of. That's a rare thing in this world, and I'm grateful for the hour of peace in this oasis that also -- lucky me! -- just happens to be right around the corner from where I live. Vicki was kind and nice, she said she's been doing this kind of work for 22 years... and it shows. Honestly, she did a great job turning my somewhat unpleasant toes into a nice place to live again, complete with foot and leg massage and all the rest. Also, she allowed me to just relax in the massage chair without talking too much, which was appreciated. Looks like I've found my spot, where a guy can go get his feet taken care of in comfort -- I'll be back! Sadly, I had a disappointing experience with gel manicure here. One nail chipped immediately the following day. Then 3 days into the mani I noticed the polish on one of the nails was starting to lift off from one side. I finally called the salon at day 5 and asked if they would fix the nail If I came in. I was surprised to get push back on the phone. I was told that there is no guarantee for gel nails to stay on more than 1-2 days and that they don't have to fix it. However they agreed that they would fix the nail if I come in. By the following day, two other nails were also lifting from the sides so I decided not to bother showing up because it was clear the entire manicure was doomed. Usually, my gel manis last me a minimum of 2 weeks and never ever lift. I was extremely surprised and disappointed to have this gel mani last LESS than one week. The only positive to this whole thing was that it was extremely easy to peel off all the nail polish on one single piece from each nail bed.... Don't waste your money on gel here. read more

Waxing caused irritation of skin due to burns. Pedi's completed were basic but very expensive. Pricing advertised was not honored but inflated at Tim of Payne t saying new pricing due to COVID. This is the best salon in Santa Clara University area for manicures and pedicures! I've been coming here with my friends for at least 12 years (including their prior salon Charming Nails). They are very clean and organized, and super friendly (the ones who do not seem to be, are just less comfortable speaking English) but all of them are very hard working and really focus on you as the customer. They have a ton of nail polish colors for gel nails / dip nails, they're great at gel pedicures too. I am super surprised to see the bad reviews as I do not believe they are representative of reality. Their prices are still very reasonable for the same service (it's a large clean salon where you're not sitting on top of one another, and can be spread out). Nancy is my go to here, but you can't go wrong with anyone else! Appointments recommended during popular hours / days but they can usually accommodate same day if you call in advance. Bring cash for tips but can use credit card to pay for services. read more

My girlfriend visits this Santa Clara location frequently. However, she is disappointed time and time again. Instead of being able to relax during her manis and pedis, she is subjected to the loud yelling and chitchatter of the nail technicians. They always speak in another language, which makes my girlfriend feel uncomfortable because she doesn't know if they're commenting on her feet or just talking amongst themselves. Either way, it's rude and not a relaxing atmosphere. Note to the owner: please train your staff on proper etiquette to make your customers feel welcomed and pampered. Sometimes the wait is long, but if you call ahead and make an appointment, they are usually pretty good about getting you in on time. Make sure you specify what service you want though - I was expecting a regular pedicure, but then it ended up being a Spa Pedicure, and I paid way more than I was expecting. The first time I came here, I had such an amazing experience. I was so excited to come back. But the second time around left me disappointed and I don't think I will ever come back. First experience: Nail technician was great. Service was great. Color was great. $25 for a gel manicure? Price was great. I was ready to come again. Round 2: I made an appointment for 6 PM and arrived 10 minutes early. The receptionist was cold and simply told me to "choose a color". Once I did, she seated me in the back where I waited 10 minutes before I finally was helped. And it was the receptionist that helped me. I could tell that she didn't want to do my nails but no one else was available. After working on my nails for a bit, she got someone else to take over. Thankfully the second technician was a lot nicer. My nails came out okay. I'd give them a solid 7/10. Not super outstanding but passing. The poor customer service means I will not be returning. The wait is long even if you have an appointment. Prices also went up I guess starting on the new year but nobody told me that. And there was no sign stating rise in price. I've been coming for 5 years off and on, they do a good job but what lead me to write this Is i spent $58 dollars on a regular pedicure and got 6 (not 10) acrylic nails taken off from a previous full set. To take off my 6 fake nails cost $32 without any color. Just a take off, file and soak in some water. I'm very disappointed, the manager wasn't there and the girls seemed confused on the pricing. Unfortunately the service is no longer satisfactory I have been a loyal and patient customer for many years however the shoddy treatment due to a schedule mistake and their unwillingness to rectify the situation was very unprofessional I tried to work with them and they fully knowing I was leaving on vacation would not accommodate me at all. There were 3 additional days prior to my trip yet they could not make the time. As a result I had to scramble to find other salons to book an appointment with fortunately I was able to find a new eyelash salon near my place of employment. I had to schedule my other Salon appointments during my trip to Maui. Now that I have returned from my trip I am searching for a new salon for mani pedis. For me, the most crucial part of a mani/pedi is getting my skin and cuticles cut. That being said, I came into SpaRenity today with high expectations. The place is clean and trendy. the manicure desks have built-in UV lights right underneath the tabletop. I was expecting to be in for a real treat until we were greeted by who im assuming is the owner. Immediately, she rubbed me the wrong way. For some reason, Vietnamese people never guess that Julia and I are Vietnamese. They should probably make sure we aren't before they start mouthing off about how we were walk-ins. Fast forward to my gel manicure... They charge $5 to remove gel polish. Also, they soak it in acetone which is KILLER for your skin (im looking at my fingers now... blech..). I patiently waited for her to cut my cuticles and it never happened. Then she mouths to her friend about how I can't relax my hands (in an offensive vietnamese tone). they also continue to complain about a customer who only tipped $4 (guess what, I tipped $0). When it came time to pay, I told the owner that my cuticles were not cut. First she said they only trim them. But wait a minute, Julia got her cuticles cut. She back pedals and says she did cut my cuticles because you can't put gel unless you do so. Um, I'm pretty sure I was watching her the whole time and she wasn't. How could I miss that part especially considering how anal I am about my cuticles and skin? Then she continued to tell me that they don't soak and cut the surrounding skin because the gel doesn't last as long. Well, miss, the last gel manicure I got at Perfect 10 off almaden (my favorite salon of all time) lasted 3 weeks without chipping. Lets just say I will not be back. So I wanted animal prints over white color toe nails (it was one of their design options). 1. The lady could not execute and my nails had a very mysterious design which was very far from the actual modeled design. 2. After several positive experiences at their Charming Nails location across the street, I was eager to get the pampering started prior to a weekend get away. My friend and I showed up on a slow Wednesday afternoon. Still it was a quite an ordeal to find a couple of technicians so our wait was fairly longer than usual with the owner pestering on whether we had arrived together. The duration of our manicures were both rushed and awkward. Both technicians chatted in native tongue on topics ranging from the low tip increments they received across to their customers' personal preferences. As they were preoccupied, the attention level towards our manis headed south resulting in uncut cuticles and a slight panic over old vs new color polish bottles to use based on orders from the owner. Neither were aware that my friend and I uncomfortably understood every word. We decided to leave some constructive feedback to the owner upon check out only to receive a hasty defense on her part. Not only did she back peddle on the proper steps in performing a manicure, we were also charged an additional fee gel removal which wasn't customary across the street.
