Absolutely the worst customer service I have experienced. Sam at the front desk was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. The hotel advertises itself as dog-friendly on their website, yet he refused to allow my dog even after I clearly explained and showed documentation that it is a service dog. To make matters worse, he said he could not cancel my reservation for two rooms, leaving my family and me with no solution. I had to find another hotel at the last minute with my family and my 3-month-old baby, which was extremely stressful. Sam took no responsibility for the situation and simply handed me the business card of someone named Hank Patel, supposedly the General Manager, who does not even answer calls. Very disappointing and unacceptable service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone read more

Horrible customer service. They do not take credit authorization. They would not allow me to cancel the hotel due to them not taking my payment. However, I did cancel the room 30 minutes after booking the room and they still charged me full price of the room due to not showing up. So they wouldn't take my payment for the room but used my for if payment used to book the room to pay for the "no show" they said they would not do anything to help me because policy. I have used numerous Hilton properties and have never had a problem doing a credit authorization. He told me it was because they have a lot of fraud. Either way... Hilton member since 2005 which is all being cancelled because of how this location and Hilton corporate office handled the situation. read more

Overall, I had a lot of hope for this hotel. Staying primary at Hilton hotels I haven't had an experience like this in sometime. While the people at the front desk were all very helpful that doesn't overshadow the cleanliness of the room itself. Upon entering our first room we were privy to a rather large water bug/coach roach running the place. Quickly the front desk moved us to another room, but the damage had been done. Further inspection of the second room gave us the green light on staying the night but we didn't use all of the room features as we were inspecting them under a fine-tooth comb at that point. I haven't had a problem at a Spark previously so I'm hoping this is just a one off experience. read more

This hotel is not your typical HILTON experience, it seems to be a motel 8 or something similar rebranded, the bathroom had a old disgusting mat in it that should have been thrown out, the toilet had half of the paint missing and chips, the bed was flat and worn out, I no longer wanted to stay here, requested a refund and the hotel did not want to refund me, there was nothing that could have been changed, I did not want another room after seeing this was the standard, I ended up booking elsewhere read more

Don't stay here unless you want to put your hand into a clogged toilet. The plumbing backed up and the front desk clerk was surprised when I asked about maintenance they handed me a flimsy plunger and when that failed to work, expected me to reach into the clogged toilet to fix the issues. They refused to send anyone to the room to look at it and claimed they had no access to any sort of urgent or emergency maintenance personnel after 10pm. This is disputing and shameful. read more

I'm am shocked by the previous reviews. If you are looking for something fancy this isn't it. But, if you are looking for a place to sleep at a reasonable price, this is your place. I have stayed here multiple days a week for the past 3 weeks for work and have had zero issues. The room is comfortable, the bed is decent, the air conditioner works, and I don't hear the "road noise" everyone is referring to. Also, staying by myself as a woman, I was not worried about staying here. I will be very happy to return here and give them my business again. read more

If you look at the other reviews, there are LOTS of gripes. After our one night stay, yes, several of them are true. My brother didn't like the beds. Actually, I found most everything with the room to be ok. My one complaint is a customer service issue. Almost all hotels have taken the initiative to do breakfast with prepackaged burritos, sausage biscuits, breakfast tacos, things like that. It's that extra effort during COVID. And I tell them we appreciate the extra effort. This hotel had coffee, juice, and honey buns. I went to the front desk. Sorry, honey buns is it. Thank you, but I'll pass on the 1000 calories of pure sugar. I did enjoy the coffee! The room was fine, but don't expect breakfast till COVID is over. I stayed here June 18 and 19th for the original booking of Van Gogh at $89/night. Van Gogh was rescheduled so I came back July 23 & 24th. They charged me $140/night. No one told me of the significant price change and would not help. I asked for a refund of the price difference and all they could do was give me a hard time , tell me to bad so sad!! They need to learn how to book families with kids on the first floor because their floors creek and if anyone is above you say goodbye to a good night of sleep. WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! An experience straight out of the Shining... As we were getting our stuff from the car a black cat scurried past us. We walked up to the front desk to check-in but no one was around so we waited until finally I called out, "excuse me?" to which still no answer. Finally after another minute we heard some shuffling in the back room and out came a not-so-pleased looking man wearing a grey Nike workout shirt and just stared at at us. After some weirdness during check-in like him mumbling about putting us "far away from everyone else", we got our cards and went up. While we walked down the hall to our room we heard a baby screaming from another room nearby. Then opening the door to our room was like opening the door to literal HELL. Heat smacked us in the face as we walked in to find what I could only describe as a murder scene cover up. The bed was disheveled, all pictures were cricked on the walls, black long hairs in the bathroom, and the heavy air of negative, ghost-like-entities loomed. We were so scared to be in there that we couldn't even look in a mirror so we grabbed our bags and high-tailed it down the stairs (not taking chances with the elevator) out of the hotel. If the staff here weren't so polite, I would probably give this hotel a 0-star rating. The first night went fine, we slept well, decent shower and bathroom amenities. The staff didn't hesitate to get us extra shampoo/conditioner/soap when asked. The indoor pool pictured online was not indoor, but an outdoor pool. No hot tub, but the pool was oddly warm (although I believe that was due to the heat of the day we swam). The pool had very nice tree coverage around the gate, preventing you from being exposed to the parking lot, and giving a shaded region over the table and chairs. There were not towels set outside like some other hotels, but we were able to ask for some. Although there were perks, the pool was very gross. It was as if they hadn't cleaned it in over a year, and the kind of growth which was at the floor of the pool and on the walls would only be able to be there if they had a bad filtration system. There was a workout center on the base floor near the back exit which lead to the pool, though I did not use it so i cannot give a review. The trouble came the next morning. First we went to breakfast. The food was.. bad to say the least. It was dry, the only good things were the waffles, and I'm pretty sure that's because the batter is the same as the other hotels in the chain (which we later transferred to). The sausage... Bad... The omlets had... Fake cheese in them .. bad overall. We went back to our room, 4 people sharing by the way, so 2 of us had showered and I was chilling out under the covers because I was cold due to the A.C., I felt like my calves were getting bit by a bug, so I flipped up the covers, seeing little black spots. They ended up just being dirt but I felt I should check under the sheets for bed bugs just in case. I was correct, there was in fact a bed bug right where I was laying, but under the sheets. It was dead, presumably from me crushing it when I jumped up. On the 2nd bed, we tore off the sheets to check quickly as well. We found numerous live, what looked like, fleas. There must've been a dog or something previously. We tried getting a different room, but just didn't want to risk it. I'm sure not all of the rooms at this hotel were not like this, but I'd be careful if this is the only thing available. Whenever I visit Austin, this is typically not the hotel I stay at. I stay at a different one down the road about 10 minutes away, it is the same company as this one. However, due to a potential hurricane hitting Houston, people began flocking to Austin and the hotel was booked when I got here so we resorted to the sister location. I will not be coming here again, but I do recommend the hotel I transferred to which I will do a review on later. Always check for bugs. Please. read more

Yikes!!! Stay away- this location is definitely family owned which doesn't make for a great hotel. The location is right off the hwy with construction going on which makes getting in and out difficult. After a long day of work I made my way to this hotel and as I was pulling up I noticed there was only one other car parked "red flag"? As I went to check in I noticed there wasn't much to this place. I got placed on the first floor next to the only other person there. As I walked into the my room I noticed a moldy/ musty smell. I then decided to look around the room and noticed the place was in bad shape. My room had a double door to the room next to me which I was not a fan of and the only thing locking my door was probably the chair in front of it. I had no service in the hotel. I stayed for two hours and decided I could not do this! So I decided to drive back home 2 hours and drive back and forth for three days because It was that bad! Don't waste your money and this place hasn't updated any photos!! And your free breakfast is free for a reason no one ate it!! read more

Arguably the worst Hilton experience I've ever had. They have 0 idea on what they're talking about and have never heard of customer service. Very bad image for Hilton as a whole. I went down to the Hilton garden inn (a different world than spark's disaster) and got a tax exemption form and I gave it to them. They say that can't process it, which is a flat out lie. The general manager says "we can't give those forms out"...then why did the garden inn make me a copy AND a copy to give to you so you can give them out. Outside of the horrible customer service the room is bland and looks something like a motel 8. Makes me second guess being a diamond member as Hilton is just letting anybody open a hotel with their name on it will cost them eventually. I will now advocate against the spark as that one night was the worst ordeal I've ever been apart of....oh not to mention I booked 2 nights cause I was told by my military leadership and we got held up. I asked for a credit cause I was still in the field and wasn't able to make the first night and they basically said "F U"....bottom line with all the choices, don't spend your money there. This motel has decent rooms for a decent price, but they come with some major annoyances. We reserved a room for multiple nights for four people with a king sized bed and a fold out couch, but arrived to find no sheets or blankets on the fold out. Did the think we were Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice? We called the front desk to ask for sheets, pillows, etc then left for dinner. We came back more than three hours later and the guy at the desk said he'd sent the sheets up, but when we got to the room, they weren't there, necessitating a trudge back to the desk to pick them up in person. Not a word of apology from Mr. Inattention To Details. Annoyance number two is the cheesy wall unit that supplies heat and cooling in each room. This thing was clearly designed to appeal to tight-fisted motel operators, and not for the comfort or convenience of the customer. A customer, you see, might well want the unit to run continuously through the night, to circulate some air in the room and so that the white noise of its operation would drown out the sounds from the highway outside or the sounds of doors opening and closing and people walking and talking in the hall or on the floor above you, both of which can be heard very clearly through the motel's cheap, thin walls and ceiling. But such a customer would be foiled, because although there is a fan control, it doesn't work unless the unit is either heating or cooling, and even if you set the fan for "high," it resets itself to "auto" as soon as the temperature you program is reached. The result is a unit that does not consistently circulate air nor help mask annoying noises, but does create its own noisy, sleep-robbing distractions by cycling on and off throughout the night. I'm sure this saves the motel owner pennies a day in operation. It's going to cost many dollars a week for years into the future because we travel to Austin fairly often, but we are NOT staying here again. El Rauncho Grande. read more

Worst experience at a hotel I have ever had. I checked in and stayed here for a week for my company. The pre-paid card didn't get charged correctly so I had to use my personal card. Then it took out a security hold (which is normal) and then proceeded to charge a daily amount every single day in addition to the hold. This exceeded my balance and so the last day was declined. When I checked out I told them the hold would need to be released for the last day to go through. After trying to explain this and being on the phone for 45 mins...I gave up and pulled out another card. I then asked the manager if she would return the previous charges and just make one big charge on my second card to make things easier when I submit my expenses since I'm traveling and was flatly told no. I wouldn't stay here, would advise my company to choose another hotel to use, and would highly suggest that the manager Anita learn that the guest comes first and that the easing the life of a traveling guest should come before her ease. read more

Nope. Nope. Nope. We arrived here after 8 hours of driving and wanted to crash for the night. As someone who works on the road, internet access is vital and this hotel claims to support "business guests." Well, not only did we pay TWICE as much as we have paid in other hotels we've stayed in at in the area, but the internet did NOT work. We got there at around 10PM and even though the place looks nice from the outside and even though they have a sign at the front that says that they will do anything for your stay to be perfect, they REALLY DON'T CARE! Why do I say this? Because it took two calls to the front desk and 1.5 hours of waiting for the internet to somewhat work. The next day we got up and, guess what? Yup, the internet did not work again. I told this to the front desk lady and besides interrupting me every two words I said, she said what she would have done had she been there last night (which, she wasn't) as if that would fix the issue. She NEVER asked how she could make it better and I still paid full price for a crappy 12-hour stay where the "free internet" did not work. I've stayed at much worse hotels than this one in Austin, and guess what worked blazing fast in them? That's right! THE INTERNET. Never EVER staying here ever again. Skip it. Not worth it. The F1 race was in town and this was the only available hotel I could find for the night. The front desk swiped my card several times, claiming it wasn't working. I just received my receipt in my corporate expense dash and they charged me TWICE for one night. There is my room number and number of nights on the receipt... clearly I didn't have 2 rooms or any other explanation for this. In addition, there was a rowdy group of folks with open beer cans everywhere and music playing in the lobby at almost 10 pm. I was very surprised that the front desk attendant said nothing and just let them hold this impromptu get together. 2 teenage girls were smoking a joint right outside the following morning - not that I care they want to do that, but again you'd think management would do something so it's not on their property. In terms of the room itself: the number was half missing from our entry and the lighting was that of a doctor's office and not a cozy hotel room. It left much to be desired. read more

If there was a way to post negative stars I would rate this place negative -10 million. Let's start off with how RUDE the employees were as soon as I came into this place. No "welcome!" no "how are you doing?" But instead I get greeted with "oh you're the no show.." When prior to this I told the woman who I have booked my reservation with that my family was coming later that evening (around 1-2 am) due the storms we had in Houston. We didn't show up till around 5 am. Then he said " I wish you would have called, YOU messed everything up" ... First of all, you do NOT say that to a paying customer, first rules the CUSTOMER is always right. And isn't it his job to check in with the customer to see if they were still showing up before you assume and place them on a no show list? Hmmm. Sounds like someone blaming the customer oppose to trying to come up with a solution. That that's okay, whatever. My family is tired and needing to rest before my sons tournament. Room cleanliness: Once we get to the room, the air was not working, in room 226, it was going off and on throughout the night, not to mention everything was very dusty and not even mediocre. Very stuffy and I felt like I was in a sauna... I had to put the air down to 60 degree for it to even feel like it was 75 degrees. Worst sleep of my life. But it gets EVEN BETTER!! Once I am at my sons tournament, I get a call from an employee (at least attempting to do her job unlike the night shift elderly grumpy man who originally greeted me.) Asking me if I'm still coming to check in? I was so confused, we already checked in last night?? I call immediately call back and she says it was a miscommunication... What? Get your systems straight people. So I immediately assume they have no idea how to do their job, and what do you know, I was right. After checking my bank account they charged me for almost 1000$!!!! I was so appalled, and had they continued to keep transferring me over to dead end solutions, the front desk lady had no training and had no idea how to solve any issues. The general manager was rude and this is probably why this place is ran the way it is. If you want to experience the worst customer service, get charged almost 1k for a motel and sweat like a pig in your dusty room this is your place! I wouldn't recommend this place to a person I hated. Luckily my bank helped me recover my funds. But that took me over 2 hours away from time with my family. Do not stay here. Fortunately my wife sleeps like a log so the only one that will be sleep deprived is me. Also beds are hard and pillows way to soft. And only covers for the bed is a down comforter which is hot as hell. It's 100 degrees everyday you would think they might put a different cover on so the AC dose not have to be turned down to 66 degrees. As far as the rest is fine, breakfast is ok for a hotel and the room looks clean and the shower works. From the tattered rug at the entrance doors, to the musty smelling room, this hotel disappointed. The facility looked tired, including our room, which, in addition to the odor, needed a fresh coat of paint. We were on the first floor, and the foot traffic above us could be heard via the creaky floor. Our room was not really "clean", as there was a "pill" from the previous party in the towel tray below the sink. The towel tray was also dirty. TRAVELING BASEBALL TEAMS BEWARE! This hotel is NOT willing to accommodate our ever-changing schedules and the manager/owner is THE RUDEST woman in customer service I have EVER encountered! The hotel is desolate. I requested a late check out. I was told that noon was the latest. I asked if it was because they were full (because I've never been denied late check-out if the hotel isn't full). She said yes, the hotel is full. So I said I'd need to check out anyway because if we win, I need a room for the night. The she told me they weren't full. She never offered any solution to accommodate my family. I went to check out and suggested that she offer to hold bags in this situation. She literally told me I should've asked for that service. Clearly, she had ZERO intentions of being courteous or apologetic for her rudeness. In addition to very poor customer service, the first room they put us in was literally 88*. It was so hot, it took my breath away. The AC was on in the room we were moved to but didn't cool the room to comfort. Lastly, the microwave and toaster were both broken, rendering breakfast useless for us. I will never stay there again. read more

The experience i had at this particular hotel was one of the worst i have ever had staying at a hotel. The staff accused me of smoking after watching me and my guest walk in and outside the front door for two days,day and night to smoke outside. Next then said my guest was trespassing because i said that i would only be staying by myself at time of check-in (given i did not know if my guest would be staying at time of check in because my guest didn't even live within a mile from the hotel), but because everything from my receipt to check in applications had one room identified as 1-2 adults, i thought nothing of having to go out of the way to notify management that the guest they had already made a key for would be staying after all.by the way there were no complaints making me two keys (One for each guest) at time of check in.. on top of everything treated me with disrespect when attempting to confront issues at time of check-out, or should i say at time for declined for extending my stay an extra night. read more

My husband and I chose this hotel over Marriott chains because it was closest to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center where my husband was having surgery. Big mistake. We should have spent the extra $50 a night and driven a few more miles to stick with Marriott chains. When we checked in, the man behind the reception desk was helpful, but the hotel lobby had a terrible stench. When I asked if it was freshly painted, he told me that they were exterminating for pests in the hotel and assured my that my room would not smell. The hotel was not very full, so he asked about our room preference. I asked for a room away from the lobby/elevators/gym. He placed us in room #108 - the FIRST ROOM next to the lobby. Really? Why even ask where we prefer?? When we got into the room, the A/C was off and it was STUFFY and stunk terribly. The walls had holes in it, the paint was chipped off everywhere (the bathroom - let's not even get started with how terrible the condition was)... Not what I would expect for a hotel (it's not like this was a motel!). It was dinner time, so my husband and I picked up the guest guidebook provided by the hotel to look for local restaurants. As soon as I moved the book off the desk, a cockroach came running out from the binder. Disgusting! The next morning, we left the hotel just before 5am to head to the hospital. The morning receptionist was ASLEEP on a sofa in the lobby. How unprofessional. Since we were missing breakfast and I am 4 months pregnant, I asked if I could take a yogurt from the complimentary breakfast (it was already set up in a fridge in the breakfast area). The woman (whom we had woken up from her nap) was reluctant, passive and didn't say a word. I returned to the hotel that evening around 8pm (my husband stayed in the hospital). My room had been made over, but it was very sloppy. The bedding wasn't tucked in under the mattress in a few spots (just a half-effort job). That night when I went to sleep, the air conditioning unit made an awful screeching noise every 15 minutes (although it ran consistently all night, it kept kicking into some higher gear) and woke me up every time. Worst night of sleep when I was already severely tired. When I went to the desk to check out at 5am this morning, the same woman who was sleeping on the couch the morning before was OUT COLD on a stack of clean towels behind the counter. I gently said, "good morning" to get her attention - Nothing. I raised my voice a little louder, "hello?" - Nothing. I slapped the counter of the desk a few times - NOTHING. I thought she was dead. Finally, I raised my voice very loudly and she woke up. By that time, I was so incredibly annoyed, I laid my keys on the desk and told her I was checked out, walking out without a response from her. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. It's not worth saving a few bucks or miles. DO NOT STAY HERE. It's disgusting, poorly serviced and terrible quality. I sincerely hope someone from corporate sees this review and reaches out to apologize for the awful experience they call "comfort". read more
