Wendy also advised on the steps involved with insurance, about how long each step would take and my out of pocket share of the cost. Wendy took care of things and very quickly I was at their San Jose offices to pick up my unit. Wendy handled the paperwork with aplomb and a great attitude! Then I spend a bit of time with Rachel, who was very intuitive about what things needed explaining and what parts I already knew. She listened carefully and quickly addressed my concerns. They like to schedule out new patients many months in advance, if you call in summer, you might have the opportunity to be seen in early fall. Also, prepare to be questioned heavily whether or not she is really your primary care physician. They want to see a picture of your insurance card, and if you send it they may still have issues with sccipa or what have you. I have an urgent health matter, where an unstable ankle continues to grind both of my achilles into the ground from overload, I am losing more and more of my mobility, and I need a referral to an orthopedic specialist urgently. They couldn't do it. Yesterday I got an appointment for next week, it was cancelled twice, and then I got heavily questioned whether or not I was really their patient. They expected proof of my insurance card, and told me they were going to give me a curtesy call back once they resolved issues on their end. It's just a bad experience to have this doctor as your pcp and then keep having to proof that you deserve to get an appointment in a timely manner that would make sense for your health. Their severe insurance issues sounded semi plausible to me, but then I was somehow able to schedule an appointment with a different provider right away, before I even switched to them as my pcp, my mind was blown! This goes to show this clinic is unnecessarily difficult to work with and extremely unwelcoming to new patients. I don't know about the doctor herself, I never got the chance to see her within a reasonable timeframe. If you have months to spare, you might have a better experience than I did, I can only speak for my own stressful, disappointing experience and the unhelpful front staff that tried to tell me I needed to wait many months to be seen for a referral for an urgent serious health matter. Horrible! Edit: I blame the doctor herself first and foremost, I believe she has great influence over how her appointments are being handled. Delaying necessary medical care is causing medical harm, often irreversible. If you have her as a pcp she may cause you direct medical harm by letting her staff (the guy who is the manager in particular) block you from accessing your specialist in time, because you cannot see her for a referral, and she is the only one able to make it unless you can switch your pcp! I told them I can't walk, I have a degenerative condition, it's urgent, they didn't care and refused to book me, since I am "not established" with them, but she was my assigned doctor by my insurance! The medical board should review them, I don't think they should be allowed to be anyone's new primary care physician.

Before sleep training, he was waking constantly after midnight and would only sleep if he was being held. My husband and I were completely exhausted and knew we needed help. The first night was a little tough (as expected), but to our amazement, he slept all the way through until 7 AM and continued to do so consistently throughout the two weeks we worked with her. Since then, he has been a great sleeper. Of course, there are occasional off nights if he's sick or not feeling well, but even then, he's usually able to put himself back to sleep quickly, which is such a huge change from before. Anne has also continued to support us beyond the initial training. Recently, she helped us navigate a sleep regression and the transition from three naps to two. She's incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely supportive. She is also one of the kindest, sweetest people to work with. As a first-time parent, my anxiety was through the roof, and I had what felt like a million questions. She never once made me feel judged or silly for asking anything, no matter how small and always responded with patience, reassurance, and thoughtful guidance. The lady that answered asked me what my sleep issues are to which I shared that I have had insomnia for 13 years and my main issue has always been staying asleep - I wake up every night ~4-5 hours in. Occasionally I have trouble falling asleep. To which she replied, well we can't help you. You need to go to a psychologist. We can help with the former (staying asleep) but not falling asleep. So, I said ok...well staying asleep IS my main issue so I would like to go their facility. Then she asked where I am...I am in Santa Cruz. To which she said "That's too far for you to come to our facility" and I said I realize where you are and I am willing to drive an hour for great service. This is my health after all and a huge problem I'd like to solve. Then she says ok, I'll send you contact information about the doctor (or some kind of information) and she's about to hang up but I stop her to saying "Wait! How are you sending me this information??" and she said she'll text it but I was using a google voice number, not my cell. I told her that, gave her my cell number and we ended the call. Well, guess what? Never got a goddam text. Unbelievable.

So I reached out to Doctor Washington's office and was thrilled to learn that he was now specializing in providing second opinions for difficult health issues. She asked me to send all my labs, tests, and procedures to his office so he could review them in advance. It was my last resort (I'd read a few sleep books already), and she was so nice and helpful! She explained the science behind sleep and went over our current sleep schedule and routine. Melissa gave me a plan, complete with exact times and gave me some options as far as soothing my daughter. I loved that she left this part up to me to decide. She also helped me with starting to wean her, which I thought would be impossible. Turns out, it was pretty easy after all. Within a week, my baby started sleeping 12 hours a night (knock on wood) and will go down for naps with very brief crying. Sure, there are days that she will not nap - but she's still in her crib playing quietly. That NEVER happened before. I hope that in the next week, we will get her naps on par with our nights. They billed her insurance for nearly $1000 and her for a copay. Since she had many medical bills, she had to split the copay over 2 months and they threatened to send her to collections. They have been calling and calling and at this point it is harassment.
