My husband booked this cleaning service for me, as I am physically disabled with a long history of asthma -- cleanliness is not optional for my health. We completed 3 appointments before I made the decision to cancel all future bookings. To be clear: **this review is about the company, not the staff.** The service was for a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom 2nd floor apartment. **What went well:** Our first cleaner, Nora, was exceptional -- meticulous, detail-oriented, and genuinely took pride in her work. She dusted thoroughly throughout the home, including the blinds, without being asked. We requested her for every subsequent appointment and added services like oven cleaning, refrigerator cleaning, and blinds each visit. **Where things went wrong:** During our second appointment, the combination of refrigerator cleaning and full-home blind cleaning was simply too much for one session. Nora worked until after 8 PM and still left 4 rooms of blinds incomplete. No fault of hers -- I flagged to the company that booking two labor-intensive add-ons simultaneously sets cleaners up to fail. By our third appointment, Nora was no longer with the company. Our new cleaner, Flor Magaly (personable and prompt), informed me she does not dust -- she uses rags instead. It was also noticeable that she was frequently on her phone chatting throughout the appointment, which I believe contributed to her lack of attention to detail. The blinds were left visibly dusty and untouched. **For someone with asthma, visible dust left behind is not a minor oversight -- it is a health concern.** When I contacted the company for clarification, I made it clear that dusting is a basic component of standard cleaning services at most companies -- and we were paying for **premium**. It should not be something a customer has to specifically request. What I encountered instead was a representative who came across as scripted and impersonal, clearly more focused on completing her talking points than actually listening to my concerns. When I raised specific questions, they went unaddressed. She repeatedly referenced my husband's excellent review as though that nullified everything I was saying. I had to specifically ask her to pull up our **full service history** -- because she was only focused on the last appointment -- before any real context was even considered. I also made clear that while my husband books the appointments, **I am the one present during the service.** I am not one to complain about a worker who is clearly trying -- but I have every right to expect the service we paid for. What followed made everything worse: I called **4 times**, was left in silence mid-conversation **3 separate times** -- told each time it was a "disconnection." However, if that were truly the case, not once did anyone attempt to call me back. I deliberately waited each time, allotting time for a return call that never came. It was always **me** who had to keep reaching back out. I **never reached a manager** despite requesting one repeatedly. My time, my concerns, and my situation were treated as irrelevant. The staff themselves were wonderful. The company owes its customers a consistent standard and basic respect when concerns are raised. For anyone with health sensitivities considering this service -- please ask detailed questions upfront, because the answers you need will not be volunteered. read more

I ordered a professional deep cleaning service of my rental apartment from Sparkly Maids Chicago. I'm could not be there personally for the cleaning. I was not immediately concerned because the company appeared to be legitimate and well-reviewed. After the service was "complete" (May 28, 2026) the company refused to provide any documentation of the end results such as photos or videos. A family member went a couple of days later to inspect the apartment and found it filthy. Because a new tenant was moving in the next morning, my family member had to immediately completely clean the entire unit (4+ hours of work), and incurring additional costs for cleaning supplies as well. The company refused to resolve the problem via a refund even though I provided 20+ images and of documentation and communicated with them for a week. Well, filled out the information for me to schedule a cleaning at my condo (standard cleaning, not anything ready for a hoarders show), & when the girl called me, I mentioned that I'd like someone to come over first so I can show them my place & also show them the expensive watch collection & collectibles I have to they can be aware of them, as well as where I'd like special attention given too. I came out to Chicago to help my daughter who was ill. Her sister had arranged for a "Deep Cleaning" for two subsequent cleanings and follow up maintenance cleaning services The initial cleaning service was promptly scheduled and the cleaner arrived on time to "deep clean" the 2 Bedroom 1 bath 880 square foot apartment for $320. My expectations were not met for a "deep clean" and I was disappointed. When the lack of attention to detail was shared with the company via feedback with photos, it was dismissed with the reply that "a stool or help moving things to do stuff that's not reachable was needed." A step ladder was present in the kitchen and the top of the microwave was within reach without use of this. The top of the fridge would have needed the step ladder for the wipe down- but as indicated was available. The floor next to the fridge did not need a ladder. My daughter and I were present the entire time and doing the not included cleaning- (inside the fridge & freezer, inside the dishwasher, exterior of the kitchen cabinets, laundry, changing the bed linens) and we were never asked to do anything to help facilitate cleaning. Some of the windowsills were wiped down some were not. A wipe down of the baseboards was surprisingly not included in the "deep clean". (What differentiates a deep from a regular initial clean is at this point mysterious to me). The cleaner did do a good job with the bathroom and the stove top. After review of our complaints and the photos the company made offer for the "deep clean next week to be reduced by $10. Instead we will use another company and I will post a review.' read more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE COMPANY, BROKE ALL OF MY GLASSWARE AND STOLE MY ITEMS, THEN STARTED REJECTING MY CALLS. I paid for a deep cleaning of my home and for the maid to also clean my baseboards. Nothing was clean. In fact I stayed at my house until three am cleaning it, I had tenants coming in the morning to move in. When I hired this service they asked if I needed my cabinets cleaned out and I said no. I still had my glassware there and it was the last of the things I was bringing back to my new home. For whatever reason this maid took my GLASSWARE and threw it in boxes and plastic bags and broke everything. All of my martini glasses, pitchers, vases, and wine glasses were broken at the bottom of a box that had my household items on top. Honestly who puts glass in a box with a toaster on top?! Then I found my laundry basket with my pots and pans in it along with my food and THEIR garbage from "cleaning" the house. It was covered in MY cleaning supplies yet they're supposed to being their own? It was covered in lint, dog hair, their disgusting rags, and other random garbage. On the ground they left garbage as well since my laundry basket wasn't a garbage can and couldn't hold it all. When I called that night no one answered, it was late so I wasn't expecting them to answer regardless. When I called the next day they told me someone would call back in 1-2 hours. No one did. When I called no one answered but when my friends called they not only would answer their calls but also call them back if they didn't make it to the phone in time to pick up. Ridiculous. Finally Michelle answered my 927374 phone call and told me they were looking into it. At 4pm I received a text stating they'd be calling me back this evening. I never received a call. Then at 10pm I received an email asking to rate my services. I sent an angry email back and finally heard back this morning. The manager or whoever has been emailing me stated that the maid took a video before she left the house and showed my missing plant on the counter so it must still be there. The video also didn't show the boxes of bags of my broken things but did show the laundry basket. They still will not answer my calls or get back to me about my house not being cleaned, my items being broken, and the maid stealing my plant? Horrible experience all around. Terrible customer service. No one deserves to go through this company. I literally paid a maid to steal my things and break my glassware and now they're rejecting my calls. What a joke. Scheduling an appointment is very efficient and can be done via text or phone call. Payment is made directly to the maid via Venmo or Zelle. Our maid Madeline Perez is courteous, friendly and has done a thorough job both times, leaving our home tidy and clean. WHERE TO EVEN BEGIN. HERE'S WHERE: DO *NOT* DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. While they were eager to accept my request for a "DEEP CLEANING," and were proactive in scheduling and reaching out to confirm the cleaning date, time and location, that is where anything positive ended. I requested a "DEEP CLEANING for a MOVE-IN" of a two-bedroom, one bathroom apartment. The team of two arrived on time and were friendly, but didn't chat much (no issue there). I was present during the time of the cleaning as I work from home.  Upon their arrival, I explained the unit needed top-to-bottom cleaning, including the doors, door frames, floor boards, window sills, kitchen, bathrooms -- everything. I was told that cleaning the windows was "extra." Despite being asked (on SparklyMaid's website) to have a three-step ladder available, vacuum and toilet brush, one of the workers was climbing all over the counter to reach above the cabinets. That's where cleaning stopped on the "top" part of the apartment. Below, I've outlined room-by-room what the team did *not* do. And, attached are pictures of evidence of their shoddy "cleaning" practices, including pictures of stuff *I* cleaned up, including two different broom sessions.  That cleaning was scheduled for February 7, 2022 at 8 a.m. The team arrived around 8:10 and left around 10:30. By the time I stopped working and started looking at the "work" they did... I was absolutely appalled at what I discovered. I messaged the SparklyMaid number (224-214-0145) and "Angel" with whom I had been messaging. I sent a message at 5:20 p.m. February 7 requesting someone call me the following day to discuss the service.  Tuesday, February 8, I had not heard from the company so I called them around 11:30. I left a voicemail requesting a call back regarding the services. Angel called me at 1:15 and I returned her call at 1:20. In the conversation, we discussed my total dissatisfaction with the cleaning and she requested I send her pictures. I sent her five photos of the evidence. She agreed that the services were not satisfactory. She also offered to send the same team back at a later date to do the deep cleaning. I told her I did not want the same team to return when they clearly didn't know what they were doing in the first round. Angel said she would "deliberate" this and get back to me. At 4:00 on Wednesday, February 9, I sent a follow-up message with another picture of more cleaning *I* did on the apartment and asked for a follow-up no later than end-of-day Thursday, February 10. Guess what? It is the evening of February 10 and I haven't heard anything. They're completely ignoring my messages and phone calls. I've now escalated this to my bank and my attorney. IF I CAN UNDERSCORE ANYTHING: look at the pictures that I took after the "cleaning" happened. DO. NOT. HIRE. THIS. COMPANY. Or work with anyone affiliated with them. KITCHEN Shiny, but far from clean. Window sills were not wiped down. Doors were not wiped down. There were streaks on the refrigerator. Dust/debris were left on the top shelf. Flooring under radiator was not swept or wiped down. PRIMARY BEDROOM Window sills were not wiped down. Doors were not wiped down. Fan blades were not cleaned. Closet had build-up on the shelves that was not properly cleaned. Flooring under radiator was not swept or wiped down. DINING ROOM Window sills were not wiped down. Floor was not swept or Swiffered. Fan blades were not cleaned. Door frames were not wiped down. The top of the built-in credenza was not wiped down. Flooring under radiator was not swept or wiped down. BATHROOM Floor was not cleaned. Door was not wiped down. Flooring under radiator was not swept or wiped down. HALLWAY Door frames were not wiped down. UTILITY ROOM Dust/debris was not wiped up. Door frames were not wiped down. Doors were not wiped down. Washer/dryer were not wiped down. FOYER Door frames and door were not wiped down.  SECOND BEDROOM Fan blades were not wiped down.  Flooring under radiator was not swept or wiped down. Door and door frames were not cleaned. LIVING ROOM Flooring under radiator was not swept or wiped down. Window sills were not cleaned or wiped. Built-in shelving and fireplace were not swept, wiped or cleaned. Door frame was not wiped down. Fan blades were not wiped down.  I have swept up the entire apartment twice. I have, so far, swiffered the primary bedroom twice and mopped it once. I have gone to every single window and door frame and wiped them down and polished the wood. I have wiped down two of the four fans in the home. I still have seven other areas of the apartment to clean myself after paying $460 for this service. This was *NOT* a deep cleaning by any stretch of the imagination. ####UPDATE#### Angel contacted me Friday, February 11 at 12:15. The company offered $30 discount codes off the next two cleanings. I originally was not going to post a review however maybe I could help the next person that books based on reviews like myself. A lesson learned for me is BEWARE and be weary of strangers entering your home. They were very responsive at first, especially because I only changed my appointment once and they called a few times after to ask me to either keep my original appointment or change to a less convenient day. Ultimately the last person I spoke with gave me a heavy sigh and said they would make it work if that day was all that worked for me. When I first changed my appointment there were no issues until I guess they realized they may have overbooked or done something wrong. I was willing to compromise but the alternate dates that worked for me did not seem to correlate with their needs and they seemed to give up and keep the rescheduled date. At the time of my service I was 9 months pregnant and nesting, however I needed this service done as my husband was injured at work and I could no longer do much myself. I booked for a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom apt. And only 2 bedrooms were done. However the lady Mercy seemed nice and I was still willing to tip. She was in my home from 12pm-5pm, my contractions started slow but steady at 3pm that afternoon and I went to the hospital that evening also. She asked me towards the time of her departure if I wanted the bedroom I was in done and of course I said yes as I felt this was what I was paying for, so why would that even be a question? I eventually left her unattended as I started to focus on breathing through contractions and eventually jumped in the shower once my husband came home. Out of respect we would never expect to have to hover over someone, a hired professional, there to do a job. That would be rude. She spent about 45 minutes in our primary bedroom unattended. Here is the terrible part; I noticed early on that she covered up one of our cameras, I came right behind her after noticing and readjusted it back to give visibility. It is a very obvious ring camera, so covering it would not serve any purpose and I chose to give the benefit of the doubt, that was my mistake. She also gathered her stuff extremely quickly and left our apartment without giving any notice or saying anything. She literally took off, and I was going to tip her. I found it odd that we were right behind her but my husband said she was gone and when the company reached out to her VERY shortly after her leaving she told them she was already on the expressway and could not come back for her cash tip. It would take atleast 10 minutes to get to the eway, so I ended up stating I would zelle it later on. As other women may have experienced I was not wearing my wedding ring due to the inflammation in my body. I found it odd that we could not find it in its usual spot [literally only spot] that evening to wear to the hospital however we were more importantly bringing life into the world and decided since she'd thrown a pile of clothes on top of his dresser that they must've been knocked behind and we could grab them another day. Since that day my husband and I have rearranged and searched high and low for our wedding rings. I even reached out to what was once a very responsive company weeks later inquiring if maybe she saw them and just moved them somewhere that we weren't looking or wouldn't think to search. All of a sudden the company has no respect to even acknowledge my inquiry. I never presented an accusation, but it is clear to my husband and I after being blatantly ignored that there is foul play. Ultimately we are going to the police station to make an official report and show the camera footage we have. Sad to say this company is highly rated but the people they send you may possibly have no morals or respect for your property, especially if it is valuable. The company itself will not value or respect you after you've paid for your service, they will not help you even if you nicely inquire about the placement of your valuables. Just beware and be careful. Also I could not add this part to the Google review but suddenly my husband's company is experiencing false check incidents and we are hoping it's not due to any paperwork we had on the table that day. However my husband has been working there over ten years and they've never experienced this problem. There's so much information on a check stub so we are trying to be proactive and document and report this incident now as we feel it is related due to the timing and the fact there is no history of this at his workplace. read more

Beware -- this company is sketchy. I just issued a complaint against them with the BBB. I booked the cleaning online and one of the questions for property details is "finished basement", which we do have. After we paid for the service, I realized that for having a finished basement, we were charged $80 additional. When I called to question this fee, I was told by Angel that actually that fee that applies when a basement is outside of the home and finished (something I've never heard of). When I explained that this is not the case for us, our basement is part of our home, Angel told me that unfortunately "because the invoice was created already, there was no way they could refund me the money." This makes zero sense! When I protested this, and asked why, there was no answer beyond this. Angel finally said that they could give me a one time courtesy credit of $30 on my next cleaning. From my perspective, this is just wrong. In fact, it's stealing. I've called Sparkly Maid to follow up on this, and they don't answer my phone calls anymore (or my texts, or email). Interestingly when I called using my husband's phone number, they picked up right away and of course. Marie told me Angel was looking into my problem and would "definitely be calling me back." Finally someone reaches out to us and says that no one will be around until close to 6pm and were only willing to give us a $20 discount off of a nearly $600 for us to wait around in an empty house for 3 hours. This is my third time using their service. They communicate really fast via text and call to follow up too. At this point, I've had 3 different maids to come although it would be nice to have the same person. But it doesn't matter because all the maids seem to have standards. The deep clean is well worth the money with the right cleaner. My normal service person was very good but twice I had to reschedule due to a work trip and I did not get my regular person and those two were AWFUL. One did a mediocre job at best and the second one flooded my bathroom, used good towels out of my cabinet to clean up the water and then folded them up and PUT THEM BACK in the cabinet. They smelled like cleaner so she didn't even do a great job covering her tracks. It took her 4.5 hours to "clean" 1400 sq ft when the normal lady took 3 at most. There were blotches Of cleaner in the bathrooms that I had to go clean myself and streaks on all mirrors. I advised sparkly maid and after some back and forth, they only offered me 10% off the next service which won't even cover the towels she ruined. If you get a good cleaner, be sure to never change times and only use that one bc the rest of them are unprofessional and do not do a good job. I would not recommend this service due to the inconsistency and lack of responsibility for workers that do not live up to standard. read more
