I can not say enough Great things about Gary and the team at Sparks. I was traveling through from out of town for Christmas and my engine light came on. Jiffy lube told me that it was a problem that I had to see a mechanic for and to be ready for a bill of over 1k. My Aunt recommended Gary and Sparks because she had gotten great service there. They were were very responsive with text updates. Not only did they provide a written estimate, but the had the repairs done in 24 hours and at a very reasonable price (under 1k). They went above and beyond, making sure that I understood everything that had done and what they thought I should look at in the near future. My car has never run so smooth and quiet. I'm writing this review because this place is honestly as good as it gets when it comes to independent auto service. I brought in a Ford Ranger, looking for some advice on an airbag light. They pulled the code and helped me understand what it meant and, because it only took them a minute, they waived off any fee. A few days later I called for some further advice on an issue with my Toyota 4runner and they were able to talk me through the options, pros, cons and costs before I even brought it in! The crew here is as helpful, honest, and straightforward as it gets. I failed emissions last week & took my car into Sparks see what the problem was. I worked with Chris and he was very helpful explaining what the problems could be and the course of action needed. He let me know they would look at my car the next day and call me with the information and quote on price to repair. I got a call the next day as promised but unfortunately the repairs were going to cost more than the car was worth so I didn't get the work done. I'm very happy with my experience at Sparks. They are incredibly knowledgeable and provide exceptional customer service. The Service Manager, Chris took the time to go through each of the diagnosed issues on an Audi that we wanted thoroughly inspected. As a single older woman who knows next to nothing about cars and owns a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer, I rely on Sparks for everything from oil and headlight changes to repairing leaks and muffler repair. They are personable, honest, and kind. When I had to pick up my grandson at a certain time, they came and got me. They dropped off my car to get tires installed and picked it up. Some repairs, like a leaking sun roof and driver seat seatbelt repair have been free. If they give a quote and it ends up costing them less, you pay the lesser quote. If it costs them more which happened with the leak, I paid only the quote. I won't go anywhere else. read more

I brought my 2012 Mazda 3 in to get my oil changed before moving to Arizona. Chris was very personable and honest. Not "pushy" as a lot of mechanics are. 1st off let me admit that this review is very late, for which I apologize. But that said I had (key word had) been going to this specific business since before they moved out a little further from the central OC area. Good people you stay with., right? But in the last couple of years the owners sold and the new ownership, while I will admit I believe want to do the right thing and are very polite, just don't seem to be get it done. I have a 2012 Ford F-150 with over 230,000 miles on it and I will likely drive it until one of us dies completely. Took it in to Sparks for what I "thought" were bad rear wheel bearings and was told that the rear end was shot and I needed to replace it. Cost was 3k for a used one, 4-5 for a rebuilt and 6+ for a new one. Decided to get a 2nd opinion that after their inspection said that I needed to replace the bearings, which I did and 6 months later everything is going fine. Come to your own conclusion but Sparks did no inspection of any kind, just drove it and decided the rear end was no good. read more

It was clear that they were doing everything they could to save me money where possible, and I liked that they prepared me for the worst case scenario bill-wise but came in under in the end. Not at all happy with the fact that they had my only vehicle for a month. Yes, not completely their fault that the part was a hard one to find. They received a part that turned out to be the wrong one and claimed it was not their fault. They then refused to order another part until they got reimbursed for the incorrect one. Ultimately I had to find it myself. Absolutely no sense of urgency to get anything done. Another vehicle is sitting there waiting for the same part. I fully expect the owner to die of old age before he gets his vehicle back. Won't be getting any return business from me and no recommendations as well. read more

I've waited a while to write this review because I do not do this lightly. I used Sparks Auto Service back in December for a pre-purchase inspection on a vehicle I was buying. I mainly dealt with Hans but then did end up trading one text message with the owner Spencer. The owner of the car I was looking to purchase brought the car to Sparks for the inspection. They completed the inspection and gave me a verbal report over the phone, followed up by a very thin written report. I was traveling across several states to get the car and needed to know if the car was worth traveling for. I received a positive report from Sparks on the car with some issues noted. I travelled to purchase the car and found so many more issues upon arrival that I negotiated the price of the car lower. In fact I was so disappointed with the PPI that Hans and I agreed I would pay Sparks only half of their charges and call it even. What I could not do on site was really get under the car and inspect it. I had to depend on the report from Sparks that everything was ok. Getting the car home I put the car up on jack stands and crawled underneath. What I found was suspension that was installed incorrectly and oddly enough adjusted differently on the left rear of the car. Investigating this further I found out that there is a major flaw in the bodywork and suspension on this side. The previous owner was hiding this issue and I was depending on the PPI from Sparks to identify the major issues. This will most likely cost me literally thousands of dollars to correct. The PPI from Sparks Auto Service was useless. I contacted Spencer (Owner) through a text message and informed him I was highly unsatisfied with the work they had done and would be writing a poor review. He texted me back and said to call him. I called him long distance the very next day. I wanted to give them a chance to address the issue before posting anything. I left a message with Spencer to call me back. That was now 3 weeks ago and I have never heard from him. Unfortunately for me I purchased a car from a dishonest owner and had an absolutely terrible PPI done at Sparks Auto Service that will cost me a lot of money. I chose Sparks because they had all 5-star reviews on Yelp. I now don't believe the ratings I see on line. I personally would steer clear of this shop. I can't be the only one that has a bad experience and never hears back from the owner. Find another shop! read more

I'm usually skeptical about mechanics, but this place was a breath of fresh air! Recommended by a friend, I took my Prius in for a "checkup" and general road worthiness. I spent more than an hour chatting with the guy about my car; everything was explained, copious amounts of information were presented to me, and a good discussion of what NEEDS to be done vs what COULD be done. I loved this company until 5 minutes ago. I've taken my cars there three times now with great results, and one billing error. It was immediately and politely taken care of, big whoop. At 6:33 pm I get an unknown number call, answered just to have it hanging up in my ear. At 7:14 another one, this time it was some solicitor wanting me to do some frickin survey about my experience with them. If I want phone solicitations I'll start entering drawings. I don't, because I fricking DONT WANT THAT CRAP CALLING MY CELL PHONE! I'm so disheartened that they would do this crap to a loyal customer, it makes me sick to have to look for somewhere else, but if they don't value their customers privacy? screw this. If they're giving your cell to this piece of crap outfit, who's the piece of crap survey place giving it to? I expect a slew of calls at all hours of the night because I did business with this place. They do great work, I can't stress that enough, but thanks for the screw job guys! I can't bring myself to give them one star, they're way better than that, but I'm so pissed I won't get to sleep tonight, thanks for nothing. Update, Wanted to get sushi for lunch today, had crow instead. I got a call this morning that puts me 100% at ease about this situation. The calls that I received were not from a random agency but rather from a firm that works directly for sparks. They assured me that there will be no further calls. I should've just went with the survey and expressed my appreciation for the fine work they've done for me. But alas, I overreacted. Knowing the class act that you encounter at this establishment I should've known better, but I was seriously figuring out how to change my digits. If you hate telemarketers as I do, tell sparks you'd like to be removed from the list. Or better yet just go along with their program like I should've. Took my 2010 Jetta in for an oil change. These guys are awesome. Fast, friendly and thorough. I called for a quote and they actually called me back right away. I waited a little over an hour and during that time took a fabulous walk along the Oregon City Promenade which looks out over the falls and the river and to the OC Elevator. Then a walk through historic downtown(5 blocks) to Singer Hill Cafe for a wonderful cup of coffee. Give this local business a try, well worth it. They work on all types of cars including European andJapanese. read more

I hit a deer in October of 2019 and Hilltop Collision Center brought my car to Sparks to have the repairs done to the engine. Sparks had my car for 5 months, for repairs that should have not taken that long to complete. After I got my car back from Hilltop Collision Center and drove it home, my car was filled with smoke from oil that was inside the timing belt housing. This happened more times then once! So now, the inside of my car was covered with a thick layer of smoke from the oil. The inside of the windshield was covered, along with all of my interior, with smoke from burnt oil. There was no detail job done, the window wasn't washed, and neither was any part of my interior. It stunk like burnt oil! Then when I turned on my A/C, it hadn't been recharged, so I had to bring it back to Sparks for them to recharge the system. Which took longer then the appointment was suppose to take. Then in April, on a pretty warm day when I was driving, I had 5 warning lights light up on my dash. So I looked up what all those lights meant and there was nothing to indicate what the problem was. So I call Subaru to ask if they could tell me what all the lights meant and there was no explanation for them coming on. I have a high performance car and now I'm concerned. So, then I bring it to a Subaru mechanic and am told that they used after factory parts. There's a problem with the alternator! I contact my insurance company and they email me a detailed list of the parts that were used and all the parts were after factory and not OEM parts! This is completely unacceptable!! I will never refer ANYONE TO SPARKS! Nor will I go back go have them right what they did wrong! I do not recommend anyone bring their car to this shop!! read more

I had a bad experience at Firestone and needed a new business to service my car. I found Sparks very efficient and professional. I experienced no pressure to upsell to other services. Wes at the counter was very clear explaining issues with the car. What was nice is that the business is next door to Fred Meyer and Starbucks so the two hours wait for the car to be worked on passes very quickly. I think I found my new car service place. read more

Earlier this year, I brought my car in for an oil change. After arriving home I find out that my coolant level is extremely low. (Weird, as I thought most shops do a basic inspection and top off fluids during an basic service). A week later, I realize my car was leaking coolant, so I set up an appointment to get it fixed as well as replacing my brake pads, rotors, sensors, and a brake fluid flush as well. After a few days, I arrive to pick up my car while a technician is "testing out" the brakes to make sure everything is working. During the drive back home, I discover a nasty clanking sound from the brake rotors every time I press the brakes. I take it in the next day and am without the car for another day. Hopefully nothing was damaged, but who knows? Fast forward to today, I receive a dashboard notification that my brake pads are worn out to the absolute minimum level. It is a worrying feeling knowing your brakes might not be functioning properly. I decide to take it into Sparks ASAP. After 5(!) hours, I call to get an update on the car. It turns out that the technician "forgot" to reset the sensors. Absolutely unprofessional! If I hadn't mentioned my prior service, I would have definitely been charged once again for a pricey replacement. As a long time customer, I no longer trust this shop and am now contemplating whether my past repairs were done haphazardly as well. I will NOT be back. read more

My car was just detailed before it broke down and I took it there, they had it three days and it is the dirtiest car I've ever seen.. Grime and black dirt all over the outside of it and it was a greesy mess on the inside.. They charged me two hundred dollars to just tell me whats wrong and then wanted eighthundred more to fix it. If you are looking for honest mechanics that do excellent work, here is the place! I had my brakes put on by Meineke about a year ago. After the terrible squeaking became unbearable, I took my car to Meineke to have the brakes checked out. They told me that my brakes were at 40% and that I should get them replaced. I (trying to save money) said I would wait the 40%. However, it was hard for me to believe my brakes were that low after only a year. So I looked elsewhere. The reviews on Sparks where amazing. I brought the car in and they told me that my brakes were at about 80%. They told me that the front brakes were cracked, and that is mainly where the noise was coming from. We discussed the options, and as one reviewer said, they didn't try to suck me dry. They were honest with me and told me what needed to be done and what were minor things that could be done, but are necessary now. They take the time necessary to get the job done (this includes full inspection of vehicle, ordering quality parts, providing quality service, etc) so expect to drop the car off (especially if you are going to be trying to do this with your three year old daughter ;)). The service at Spark's is phenomenal. I have been taking my car there for a few years now and they always leave me impressed. I straddle two cities and it isn't always easy to let go of my car when I am there, so they have often gone to my apartment and driven my car to their shop to do maintenance. They managed all of the repairs and insurance issues when my car was hit and I wasn't able to be there to deal with that mess. Hans is especially lovely and consistently blows me away with his attention to detail and willingness to go way out of his way for me. Being fairly new to the area, it can be a chore to find a reputable, high quality, honest auto repair shop. I recently had to bring my car in for work and had a very positive experience. Chris was honest and detailed in his explanation of repairs needed (thank goodness all that was needed was to remove a mouse nest from the engine compartment!) They provided me with a run down of work that may need to be done down the road, with no pushy sales pitch of any kind. They seem to keep detailed notes in their customer database for future reference. All in all, an excellent experience. I highly recommend them. This shop is a RIP OFF. I would not recommend any car be serviced here. They will do work without authorization and charge you for it without telling you how much until they present you with a bill, and they will threaten to keep your car if you don't pay for the unauthorized work. No business in their right mind wou;ld operate like that. If you don't want repeat business, then it really doesn't matter, and ypou will be out of business in a very short time.
