I stopped in last week while shopping with my kids nearby to pick up my monthly bouquet. I usually pick up at their Sparks location, but we were in Reno so we stopped here. Three ladies working were super friendly and welcomed me upon arrival. It smelled amazing and seeing everyone busy at work changing out their holiday theme while I was here was magical. This is a review for an order for my wedding. My theme was specially Black Baccara rose based. It was very important to me, I even had my perfume based on it. I started on a search for someone who could source some for me to integrate into my bouquet. I started with Sparks florist. The lady who answered was very kind and she put me on hold and spoke to a gentleman who she said asked me if I preferred "Hearts". I said while they are very pretty, if they couldn't do Black Baccara I would have to decline. She said they could get the Black Baccara. I paid for the order over two months in advance. They called and said my order was ready. I picked them up and started to leave and realized - they were Hearts, not Black Baccara. When I asked the lady at the register she said I must be mistaken, they could not have ever sourced Black Baccara. I explained the situation, and another lady listening from the back stated I was telling the truth, she had been the one to take the order. There was nothing to be done, Black Baccara could not be gotten but they would speak with the sourcing guy. I doubted myself but I went ahead since my wedding was in two days and the roses they had provided were in truth absolutely stunning and fresh as can be. The thing is, if you promise a bride something special, and charge her for that, it's not very kind to pretend you didn't, and not give her a chance to get the flowers of her dreams somewhere else. I checked my receipt and sure enough though the woman at the counter said it was in the system as Hearts, it wasn't. I was charged for Black Baccara. If I need to upload a screenshot of the proof, I can. My wedding was private and planned out for a year, with only us and two others. It saddens me that I talked on the phone and made the order while the lady oohed and aahed over the Black Baccara and how it would be part of our theme... and never be told they switched them, and to also pretend they could never have sourced them. it's not very honest. long story short - the flowers provided were stunning and much loved, but the service leaves much to be desired. I wish you would have told me you could not hold up to what you charged me for so I could have made my dream come true. it still did because I married my soulmate but brides, beware, make sure they are actually delivering what they promise. My Daughter gave me a card for Mother's Day good for monthly flowers for a year she bought as a fundraiser for a local elementary school. What a great gift! Either Sparks or Smithridge florist participates in this program. I went to get my first bouquet expecting a small one but it was a full sized bouquet of beautiful fresh blooms you would pay $10 or more for. They provide a great service with efficient delivery. I'm told this is a family owned business and all indications are such as they really take time to make your experience a positive one. We had a rather large celebration for our neighbor's daughter and her girlfriend and needed several arrangements. Mind you, we provided plenty of warning, which I'm sure helped. The Sparks florists folks did the rest. While costs were not an issue, they were quite reasonable (considering our order). We received a photo of the finished products, prior to deliver. Once we were satisfied, they met our deadlines and delivered at a perfect time. We built the party around the flowers and didn't needlessly worry if they would arrive on time or not. What a relief. I used Sparks Florist for my wedding and would highly recommend them to anyone getting married in the Reno-Tahoe area! I was not active on Yelp back then, so am just now posting my review. Our primary color was royal purple which can be a hard color to match flowers to. I worked with Terri Henderson at Sparks Florist and she was so great at letting us know the flower options available and what she thought would look best together. She came up with a very organized proposal document outlining all of our flower needs, which people in the wedding party would need what flowers, the cost breakdown, and details about delivery and setup. Wedding flowers are expensive in general, but I felt like the prices offered here were not too bad. Our original wedding date was 4/4/2020 which as we all know now was just a few weeks in to the start of the COVID pandemic. Terri was incredibly flexible in working with us during this chaotic time! We still did a small ceremony on that day, so she helped us postpone our original flower plans to a later date and just did the bridal bouquet and groom boutonniere for the small ceremony. Many of our flowers were supposed to be shipped from distant places and could not make it to Reno because of transportation shutting down during the early stages of the pandemic. Terri still found a way to get flowers from different sources to make sure we had what we needed for our special day! We picked up the flowers ourselves that time since it was only two items. We stuck with Sparks Florist when we eventually had our postponed bigger wedding the following year in 2021! Terri and I communicated throughout the year in between and updated the proposal as needed. She delivered all of our flowers up to Tahoe for us as requested; some to the house I got ready at, some to the church. She even placed the boutonnieres on the groom and groomsmen's suit jackets so they would not have to worry about figuring that out. Our church would not allow the flower girl to throw flower petals, but she could hand out individual stemmed flowers; Terri provided some of these stemmed flowers and a basket for our flower girl to carry them in. It was lovely to finally have everything come together as planned, the flowers came out beautifully! It was a fun surprise seeing how they turned out the second time around when the world was not shut down and they had access to more flower options, but I really did love both bouquets from 2020 and 2021. I brought back the vases used for some of our flowers after the wedding so they could be recycled, then Sparks Florist gave me a small bouquet of flowers as a thank you! You will be working closely with a florist for your wedding and want someone who has expertise, is a good communicator, and reliable. You cannot go wrong by choosing Terri and the rest of the Sparks Florist staff for your wedding flower needs! read more
