If I could put a minus sign in front of the Stars I would. When I got my vehicle back from them it was running exactly the same or even worse than when I took it in. When I voiced my complaints to sparky he was rude made me feel like I was asking too much and they never fixed the problem. So I had to take it to another mechanic spend close to $400 more besides the three that I spent with him and come to find out they put parts on my car from a fish tank and totally messed it up, they do not stand by the work that they do and are rude when you want the problem fixed! Not reliable. The shop's at his house, and when you show up to get your car fixed, there's a good chance no answers the door, and he doesn't answer the phone. I think he screens his calls through his answering machine a lot, so you may get no answer the first time you call him too, but don't be surprised if you get no answer at the door as well, when you think you're dropping off the car. read more

I needed installation of a proprietary piece of auto navigation and multimedia hardware, and none of the shops I consulted would touch it due to perceived liability. I met with Skip and he was up to the challenge. He not only did a thorough job in a timely manner, but explained everything to me and charged a little over a third of the highest bid I had gotten (before I was waved off). This will be the easiest review I-have written. Skip at Sparky's was introduced to me by a somewhat father in law by common marriage law I am so great full for the introduction that Sparky's is the only mechanic I will ever consider taking my cars to he works fast maybe 250-300% faster than anyone at a mechanic shop. He is more gifted as well the way skips brain works is like watching snaking from Star Wars fix things. I love that skip never overcharges and always does extra things for free because he truly loves working on vehicles. He diagnosis in fixes your car same day when a typical shop might be up to a week before they even look at it. The auto shop guys cannot even make an educated guess after pulling things apart as skip looking under the hood going for a 5 minute drive and having your car ready in less than 1 hour. I saw some negative reviews by people that do not know skip and during that time period he was going through significant health related issues. I have sleep apnea and I get judged for moody when I want is some quality sleep. read more

I don't know why it has taken me so long to write this review. If there is one business in Oregon that deserves a true 5-star Yelp rating it is Sparky's. A couple of years ago my car spontaneously imploded when we pulled into the garage. It became possessed. We turned it off but the engine kept running. We took out the key, but the engine kept running. There was smoke pouring out of the hood and screeching noises filled the air but you guessed it, the engine kept running. In a panic I used my phone to google auto service shops in the area. It was night time on a Saturday and I didn't expect to have any luck but I somehow came across Sparky's and called. Skip calmly walked my husband through how to get the engine to shut off. Then he told us to have the car towed to his garage and that he'd start working on it right away. We did just that and within about an hour we met him in person. Not only did Skip start working on our car immediately after drop off, but he called us back in less than 2 hours and said that it was ready to go! We couldn't believe it. It was almost 9 p.m. When we went to go pick up the car we were even more shocked to learn that the price for the services was so incredibly reasonable that we felt like we were robbing him! He even gave us the receipt for the part he had picked up from NAPA. No mark up! Can't recommend Sparky's enough. read more

My only gripe is that he no longer does mobile repairs. I had an F350 that needed a new starter, but I would have had to tow it over there to get repaired. Other then that he has done a great job on multiple vehicles and I've saved a bundle in repair costs vs. going to the dealership. read more

Super nice guy, fit us in on a Sunday, He narrowed the problem with our car down to three different options, which he presented to us in order of cheapest to most expensive. This is - seriously - the first time in my life I've been given real options by a mechanic. The last few times we got tune-ups, we went to the Wilsonville Toyota dealership, who apparently just took our money without checking the spark plugs & wires (which were disgusting & falling apart.) We'd been going to the Wilsonville dealer for years to do tune ups - apparently, they've been taking our money for years & not doing anything. Finally, our Camry threw up the check engine light & stopped being able to, you know, accelerate. Uh oh. Lesson of the day: Wilsonville Toyota sucks, this place is great. PS. Awesome service! Awesome prices! Incredible speed! You cannot find a better guy to diagnose & repair your ride! I took my car in because the alternator was shot. At least that was my guess. He confirmed it gave me an estimate and said to expect a call from him within a couple hours. 45 minutes later he calls me up and says it's done. The problem was my ride wasn't gonna be back for another 2 hours. Well because of that and the fact he wanted my car out of his way. He came and picked me up. I live pretty close to him so it wasn't like across town or anything. And my car was in the way of him being able to work on 2 others in his driveway. But still. He went the extra mile for a guy he didn't even know. You gotta respect that! I wouldn't expect the ride service unless you drop a dead car in the middle of everything like I did. Amazing service! We (barely) rolled into our hotel parking lot with our alternator going out at 9pm THANKSGIVING night. I called Skip, expecting to leave a voicemail, but he answered and said send the car right over! I had AAA tow it over to Skip at midnight and he was there to receive it. Unbelievable! I called this company as a new customer, during the office hours stated on the internet, which stated 24 hour service, the owner answers the phone at 9;50 am on a Sunday, and was downright rude. He began lecturing me about how I should not have called at 9;45 am, even though he is too lazy to switch his hours on the internet for all of us new customers. So he proceeds to tell me to call monday after 10;00 am,, but, before he said to call the next day, he rudely asks me," what can i do for you?" the next day monday morning, I call him as instructed by the owner, after 10;00 am, noone even answers the phone, and I get no phone call back after leaving a nice message. I have no idea, how anyone can run a business this way, disrespecting customers, and never answering the phone, and not having the courtesy to even return a phone call for new business. at this point, I called a different shop, who was very professional on the phone, and immediately was able to get my car in on their schedule. it is so sad to see a person who has a business that cares so little for existing customers , as well as new customers, that would essentially be new business for this company. i personally would stay away from this business, certainly did not earn my business, just trying to give an honest review about my experience with this company and their owner!! read more

He is very very quick and professional! My car's radiator cracked and I needed it fixed immediately as I have school and three jobs. I called several places that were all unable to help (on a Tuesday!) but he was not only able to, I got the car in around noon and he was done with it by 4! Now it runs like a dream! I called Sparky this morning about my 2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS, it was no crank no start had already put some work into it and nothing. I towed it in and within 2 minutes he figured out the problem! My starter went out again after being replaced he only charged me 90 dollars an amazing price for a pain in the butt job. He also fixed my out brake light for no charge. Skip is knowledgeable and consultative; does quality work (including knowing his limits on jobs, and being prepared with referrals for stuff he is not comfortable doing); has a good attitude; and keeps his pricing beyond fair. Usually when I mention that my car is a Lexus, I automatically get the run around with inflated pricing justified by random jargon. But not with Skip. He explained my issue, let me pick the parts I wanted (at book), and completed a full brake job and front rotors in a 4 hour turn from me dropping it to picking it up. Skip is as nice a guy as they come! I found myself stranded in a Rite Aid parking lot last night and was fortunate enough to have Skip park next to me. He immediately began trying to diagnosis the problem and eventually ended up underneath my car, hitting my fuel pump with his bare hand and sure enough my car started!
