100% recommend! Drove through Conneaut from Erie back to CLE. Happened to see this while researching the area for a good dive bar between Erie and CLE. The pic of the leg lamp grabbed my attention! Then, it just so happened I saw the Burger Review Guy on TikTok stopped here too. We had terrific service, the food was amazing and I loved the atmosphere! The Pub burger with smoked Gouda and bacon was so delicious paired with the sriracha mayo!!! The wings were good too - just wish they had a bite but nonetheless, tasty! The bartender gave us a little back story on the name and the squirrels throughout the restaurant. We'll be back for the holiday season to see it decorated! Come for the eclectic atmosphere but definitely stay for the food! We enjoyed a delicious bowl of homemade Guinness chili loaded with beans and meat. Topped with cheese and green onions with a nice kick to it. We also shared a bbq chicken pizza which was delicious. Service was excellent and the staff very friendly. We were looking for a place to eat on our first night in the area. Google maps said it was open until 9 but when we got there at 7:25 we realized that was wrong and they actually closed at 8 on Thursdays. But the staff assured us that we had plenty of time. The beer list is LONG- lots of good choices. We had the cheese curds and burgers. Everything was really good. The burgers are fresh beef and huge- we couldn't finish them. If you're truly looking for that neighborhood bar/restaurant that offers generous hearty portions, amazing customer service, great prices, and only a 2-block walk to beautiful Lake Erie, then "Sparky's Place" will have you covered. This is one of Conneaut's most popular little hidden gems and I decided to stop by here for lunch. Located directly at the corner of Broad St. and Erie St., this place has been a fan favorite for locals and out-of-towners for many years. Since Conneaut is a relatively small place, parking is relatively easy to find. I was staying in an Airbnb and decided to make the quick 5-minute walk here during the afternoon of Friday 9/15/2023 at around 1:05pm. Upon entering, I absolutely loved the 'dive bar' vibe this place had to it. There was a full bar with barstools surrounding it, multiple wooden tables & chairs, signs that read some of the local attractions, and a huge outdoor patio area; perfect for the more comfortable days and warm summer nights. Keep in mind that they are closed Monday & Tuesday but do open Wednesday through Sunday at 11:30am. After being seated, my server/hostess Kelsey took my drink and food order. Speaking of drinks, this place has a very extensive selection of beer (lagers, porters, IPA, sours, etc.) all at very reasonable prices. Many of which are in between the $4-7 range for a pint. Since I wanted local, I ordered the "Butter Pecan porter" from Double Wing Brewing Co. out of Madison, OH for only a mere $4! My second beer was even cheaper than that as I went with an "Oni Girl Japanese style rice lager" from Masthead Brewing Co. out of Cleveland, OH. This was just $3! I have to say that their drink selection is arguably some of the best I've seen in a very long time. And I've been to my share of breweries, pubs, and bars throughout America. However, their food menu is equally as impressive with a huge assortment of appetizers/small plates. This includes chips/dip, fried pickles, soft pretzels, garlic strips, Buffalo wings (available in a dozen flavors), bacon fries, and even Poutine, a Canadian classic. They also carry a nice variety of salads, soups, sandwiches, wraps, flatbreads, and burgers. Since I wanted one of their exclusive family-recipe dishes, I decided to go with their "Hamloaf Sliders" (priced at just $6 for the pair). This was thick cuts of hamloaf complete with sweet mustard sauce on a grilled Hawaiian roll and topped with a pickle. Although this place was a fairly packed house for a Friday afternoon, my sliders came out in just 10 minutes. And I've got to say, the portions were very generous as this was absolutely delicious. The hamloaf was tender and seasoned to perfection. Definitely a nice alternative to your typical beef sliders. And my server, Kelsey was very accommodating making sure everything was up to par. Both beers were refreshingly delicious while the entire ambiance of this place hit all the high notes for me. All in all, "Sparky's Place" is as good as it gets for me. If I lived closer, I would want to come here on a weekly basis and try everything on the menu. There was a jukebox playing cool tunes, TV's playing sports, and the entire atmosphere was very lively and upbeat. From what I heard, their business gives back to the community and is also very supportive of local law enforcement. With that said and done, I am giving this place a perfect five-star Yelp rating. read more

I failed to grab some photos but I absolutely loved this place. Very unassuming from the outside but amazing on the inside. The decor is very eclectic and there are endless things to look at on the walls. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The food was absolutely incredible and there a a ton of gluten free options. I got a grilled chicken sandwich with house made candied bacon, provolone and a creamy siracha along with fresh cut curly fries which our group devoured. They were so good. The service was great as well. The staff were very attentive and chatted with us quite a bit. Highly recommend checking it out. read more

Wow!! Where to start! This place is a 15/10! For date night we came here and were greeted by live music which was amazing. Our server, Morgan was amazing! She was attentive, so sweet & kind and fast. Appetizers were out shortly after with our drinks. (Not pictured a giant pretzel with amazing mustard). Extremely pleased with the whole vibe of the place! The pulled pork sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. A little spicy tang to the sauce and balanced by the pickles! Our BLT chicken flatbread was so crispy and delicious. I'm not one for tomatoes usually but this has changed my mind surprisingly. He loved the special of the night- a chicken salad wrap with banana peppers. One of the absolute best bars you are going to find in Conneaut Ohio. I'm not talking like a local dive bar, I'm talking about enjoying some nice whiskey, some nice wines, and a very extensive bottled beer selection. The food is all delicious, I have yet to have a single meal that has not been good. I will strongly encourage getting a burger if you like cheese burgers. They're delicious. They are also very supportive of law enforcement and have a wonderful patch wall that I was happy to donate to. The owners are very pleasant people and always willing to help and answer questions. The bartenders are always great conversationalists. My only complaint about the establishment is the size, it is very cozy. They do not have seating like you'd find in a large Texas road house type restaurant. They do have a very nice heated patio though! Though the chairs are pretty uncomfortable especially for a bigger person but I suppose that's personal preference. read more

Stopped here for a bite whilst taking a Sunday drive. Solid 4 for us - the atmosphere and service was wonderful! Burger with a pink interior was good but as I got through it, I realized maybe it should have spent more time on the cooler side of the grill to heat up before hitting the hot, hot side of the grill. So in that regard, It was just ok for me. Hubby got a grilled cheese with 2 different type of cheese. Why he got a grilled cheese, IDK but he seemed to eat all of it. read more

We were there for over 2 hours, our food took an eternity and then we couldn't get the check because our server seemed to forget we existed. On top of that, the food was simply not worth it. After waiting way over an hour for food the owner was belligerent because we were unhappy. He was short staffed, what did we want him to do?? Cooks called off...can't hire people... AND THEN He kicked us out for not being understanding. Here are a few suggestions: 1)Rope off some of your restaurant and don't seat people if you don't have the staff to serve them in a reasonable time 2) Let people know how long it will be to be served and let them decide whether to stay. 3) when things go really wrong, offer a discount or a certificate to come back for a free something.... Atmosphere outside was great ... fans for a warm night, blankets for comfort, lighting for ambiance - a really cool place for a summer night. Service was so-so. Waitress forgot a few things w our order and drink service was slow. We ordered the fried pickles and mozzarella wedges for an app. Pickles good - breading different - a bit sweet, but would order again. Mozzarella wedges average ... not served w any dipping sauce. Shared the special which was corned beef. Very good and tender. Wings were the best thing we ordered ... saucy and so tender. Overall a great place near the water. If we lived in the area - we could see ourselves as being regulars, but wouldn't go out of our way to visit next time. A great establishment tho! read more

We kept driving. An hour went by and came upon this place! Great food! Nice and professional people. We came on a night I believe they were not ready for as it was obvious as staff seemed totally confused about the amount of customers they were taking in. Actually I felt for them as customers ran out of food options as I overheard staff mentioning they were out of certain foods. I do not know what happened tonight but it was clear that we all had a great idea and showed up at once!!!! I do not fault Sparkys in any way and I believe people in general needed to get out for some sanity!!! The food was an 8 out of 10. I was not impressed with the deep fried pickles and they did not look like chips but spears. They were just too salty. Everything else was very tasty! We visited for the first time the evening of Thu., 7.5.18. The dining room/bar was full so we sat on the covered front patio which was nearly full. The menu is largely bar or, as they say today, gastro pub food. I had the half-inch cut fried bologna sandwich with fried egg, cheddar cheese & bacon. It was delicious! The curly fries were good but I wish they had regular shoestring fries. The patio was severely understaffed with only one server for about 14 tables. It took 40 minutes to receive my meal. However, the owner was present & working by serving drinks & bussing tables. Stumbled onto the place and decided to check it out. Nice friendly atmosphere and very nice staff. Server was very sweet if somewhat forgetful. Had steak sandwich. Decent but light on meat and heavy on bread. Burgers were good. Fries were well made but i'm not a fan of the teeny tiny fries. The bufallo wing dip was bad. Don't bother with it. Decent prices. Had a chance to eat there with my wife tonight and I'm glad we did. Read an article posted about them in GoErie and we wanted to give them a try. Very nice place, lived the decor, the space was nice and the patio was awesome, try that next time when it isn't so hot. Service and the people there were super pleasant and very attentive. Had the Poutine for an app and then each of us had burgers and all the food was really good!! All cooked to what we asked for, everything was fresh and delicious. I work at this restaurant as a bartender when they first opened and there were so many issues which she would expect when opening a new restaurant and bar. However, even though I swore I would never go back there because the owners are just so nasty to their employees I broke down and took my Sunday today. What a mistake! We went there for dinner. Nice bar area and new inside. We waited over 10 minutes to get waited on as we sat at a table. Ordered a drink and had to ask the girl over 10 minutes later wherevit was at, she forget. Ordered dinner (sandwichs only) and it was over 45 minutes later before food arrived. The place was not overly busy and the other tables waited forever for their meals also. They need to get everyone workingctogether as it does not take 45 minutes to ookv3 hamburgers and fries. If the can get their problems worked out and faster service this will be a good place to go for sandwichs and a beer. I hope they get it all together. Will go back in a couple of months to see if they have improved read more

When I got in to town, my mom wouldn't stop raving about this fish sandwich I needed to try up in Conneaut. After going to Sparky's once, now I know why she was so insistent on me trying this sandwich. This review is dedicated mostly to Sparky's Ultimate Fish Sandwich. I haven't tried anything else on their menu (besides drinks), and idk if I would waste my time trying anything else after having their fish sandwich. Hands down best fish sandwich ever! The fish is crusted in potato chips and fried to perfection! If you are a fish eater and can afford the fried factor, you must try out this fish sandwich! Sparky's also has alcoholic beverages at a pretty good rate! One night they were making special Watermelon Mules which was a sweet and special spin on the regular Moscow Mules I'm so used to drinking. They also had a special on Stella beers so we grabbed a bucket of Stella's on ice and it came with two Stella glasses as well for a pretty good deal!
