I took my six month old GSD to the Koehler obedience class. He did a very good job of explaining and demonstrating the techniques, and was good at helping us work through the problems we had. To be honest, I was expecting a more hardcore Koehler method, but he was a lot gentler than the book calls for, which I wasn't as fond of. However, all-together I think it was a good class, and I have seen a considerable improvement in my dog, and we're off to a good start. read more

Simply put, Sparta is amazing. The staff is so wonderful and cares about your pup. We used them for both doggie day care and boarding and were so pleased with the service they provided. For the amount of attention they give to your dog, the different spaces they have, and the amount of time they are open each day, they were 100% worth every penny. We have since moved to Atlanta and Lenny misses his friends at Sparta terribly. It's been tough to find a replacement daycare that competes to what we had at Sparta. They set the bar high! read more

I take my small rat terrier here and he loves it! He is always wiped out at the end of the day when I pick him up. You can tell they really care about the animals they watch over. I left my 2 dogs in boarding for 3 days. They were both healthy dogs when I dropped them off. When I went to pick them up my smallest dog was given back to me and I was told she was anxious and being finicky. I was informed she had been having diarrhea. Before I even left Sparta she had diarrhea all over their floor. I took my 2 dogs home and the smallest got even worse ( to the point I thought she was not going to make it). I took her to the emergency vet. 2 days later my second dog came down with the same symptoms. When I called Sparta they referred me to their policies and said they try to keep things sanitary but their policies ultimately say they are not responsible and it was just a chance you take when bringing a dog to their facility. I am outraged at their lack of concern or caring when I trusted my fur babies to their care. My dogs are indoor dogs and have never been sick like this ever! They have both been to other boarding facilities and never came home sick. If I could of given less stars I would have!!! I'm outraged at their attitude and the way they handled the whole situation. read more

It's safe to say this is the best place ever for dog day care and boarding. I've always been against using groupons and corporate chains for services like Petco or Petsmart or likewise. This family owned place is the right place to go to give your dog the extra love when you're away at work or on a vacation. I discovered this place one evening on my way to a Hindu temple in the same complex. I walked in to see what it was like and was completely blown away by their reception. After a short tour of the place, a description of their services and the facilities, I then decided that I was ready to get a dog. I adopted a dog from a local shelter and regularly drop him here for daycare or boarding on weekends. My dog loves going here! I also use their grooming services which employs some of the finest craftsmen and pet lovers. On a Saturday, I took my dog to the vet who discovered no ticks at all and wrote off that my dog is fit as a fiddle. On the following Monday, I took my dog here for grooming where they discovered about a hundred ticks. I was at work and was unable to answer them in time but they did the right thing by removing his ticks and shortening his fur. I did however give my consent to this and requested to do the right thing. I'm more grateful for this than other pet parents that get mad. This place truly cares for the wellbeing of your pet. read more

This place is wonderful not only for boarding but I just started training with their Dog Trainer Heath who is also their manager. He is patient, caring and has really changed my dog's behavior in two short weeks. I have a Shepherd/Husky mix 8 yr old female with dog aggression (while on a leash) and sometimes even aggression with people who approach us while I"m walking her. Heath is doing a great job of training her and teaching me how to walk her and work with her so that she does not have this behavior. I love all of the staff and the place is clean and very welcoming to dogs. Thank you Heath for being such a blessing to me and Zada! You are the best Trainer I've ever worked with! read more

This place has had some turnover and it is not as good as it once was. They have some strict rules such as requiring dogs to have collars removed which caused some anxiety for my dog. I also learned that some of the workers had been tapping on her glass door when we boarded her as a means to trigger aggression. They then said they would only board her if we paid for very expensive obedience classes. My dog was not aggressive until they made her like that. I know this because I was shown a video of this which I also learned was being published on a private Facebook page without my permission. I now have a dog who is very fearful of this place so we have had to find another boarding facility. read more

We have boarded our small dog at Sparta 5 times this year and had her groomed there too. Until this week we loved the place but now I have a concern. The staff seem caring enough. Their website says dogs get day care when boarding. Nowhere does it say or do they tell you there isn't day care on Saturday or Sunday. I checked the cameras several times this weekend and saw no dogs out or people around, and the play rooms were dark. The owner Julianna tells me that they are closed on Sunday and there is no day care but they come by and feed them and let the boarding dogs out for potty and that I just missed seeing them on the cameras. In speaking with julianna she promised to correct this information so that its more clear what the routine is on sundays and holidays. I also paid $50 for a full groom of my dog. I left very very details written instructions of how I wanted my dog groomed. As you can see from the picture it seems the only thing they did was bathe her and trim her muzzle a little. Julianna called me this morning and apologized for this experience and offered a refund of the grooming price. She noted that the groomer didn't read my notes thoroughly to provide the requested service. I read another review with this same issue, perhaps their groomers need to slow down and read the form the facility asks owners to complete. Unfortunately the groomers had already left for the day so they couldn't fix it right then. I'm willing to give them another chance since the staff seems pretty good otherwise and my dog never seems stressed when I pick her up. They just need to be more detail oriented. read more

I checked this place out on a recommendation from a friend and decided to look into training options for my new rescue. I initially met with Heath to discuss my goals and decided on the day training option. The first day was a success. She was able to walk on the leash with other dogs, walkers, bicyclists and squirrels nearby. No pulling. At the end of the session, th leash could be dropped, and she just stood there with us. I repeated the exercise tonight as 'homework' with the same result. I'm thrilled with day 1 and am looking forward to our next lessons. read more

My dog has been boarded here several times and I trusted them. They have a nice facility and the people are nice. This last time though, I went to pick him up after being on a plane coming home and they said "didn't you get my message? Your dog is at the vet, he was bitten." I was in shock. Basically, without going into too many details, they let a very large dog (compared to my 9 lb dog) in with the small dogs. My dog was playing with a toy and the large dog wanted it so he bit my dog on the back of the neck and had hold of him in his mouth. A human was there to yell so the big dog dropped my dog. My dog was bleeding and had bite marks on one side of his shoulder to the other (that's how big the mouth was). They had him sit overnight and brought him in the next morning. After I left, they charged my card on file for the full stay. I was upset about that because they had downplayed it and this clearly shouldn't have happened. I get dog fights happen but I trusted them not to put a big dog in with the small dogs for this reason. If a human wasn't standing there who knows what would have happened. I'm an understanding person but it was clearly a bad judgment call because even my vet was confused why they'd put that dog in with the small dogs. When I picked up my dog from the vet, they had shaved him and couldn't stitch him since he was bitten and there is bacteria. He was lucky the big dog didn't get an artery. Puss and ooze came out for a few days. Sparta since tried to call me several times but I don't really know what to say. I'm just heartbroken. read more

I cannot express how much I love this place. I have an extremely high energy dog (Australian Shepherd) and can work almost 12 hours on certain days of the week, so I decided to start taking her to doggy day care once a week. This place is AMAZING! They treat my dog as if she was one of their own and they always greet her by name when we walk in. She gets so excited to see staff members every time we go, and I love that she gets to spend most of the day outside playing with other pups. Plus, I can watch her on the webcam throughout the day and I always see the awesome staff interacting with her and the other dogs. By the time I pick her up, she is completely worn out and I can tell she played the day away. So so glad I found this place! read more

I Took my dog here today for the first time for daycare and it is the best daycare I've been to. Other daycares I have tried will put he dogs into a crate for more than 70% of the day. Here they let the dogs play the entire day. The outside area is HUGE and the inside is very clean and doesn't smell bad like other dog daycares. I can't recommend Sparta enough. My dog Waylon has been going there for day care and for boarding for almost 10 months and he loves it! When I pick him up, he is always asleep in the car before we even leave the parking lot, and when we arrive the next morning he sprints out of the car to the front door. The cameras allow you to watch your dog having a blast, and watch the staff petting them and loving them, as if they were there own. Sparta is his second home. read more

Very disappointing at the false advertising. After looking through brochures and the website I thought this place was perfect for my Murphy. The play yard is big but most of it is concrete. I noticed that the photo in the brochure had to of been photo shopped. When I got to watch the dogs play they were so rough out there and were barely supervised. I know my poor Murphy would not have a good time since he is nervous and older. The staff member who was answering my questions and concerns did not have a good answers to make me feel comfortable. The rooms are so tiny and not enough room for my baby overnight. Will not be using Sparta in the future. read more

ALERT! Please think twice before you go to Sparta Pet Palazzo on Parker Road in Plano, Texas to have your pet groomed. We have a Cairn Terrier and took him there there to be groomed (this was actually the second time we took him there for grooming). On the first visit, we left explicit instructions for him to have a scissor cut only (no shearing with clippers!), since Cairn Terriers have fur that consists of a thick undercoat with a wiry outer coat. Our grooming instructions were documented in our pet's profile. When we left our pet yesterday to be groomed, we talked to the person who had first groomed him and who had done an excellent job. We asked her to do the same cut as before. When we returned to pick up our dog, the groomer had sheared off the outer coat and much of the undercoat. We were very upset. Once a Cairn Terrier is sheared, the coat does not grow back the same way. This was a mistake that could not be reversed. The groomer admitted that she did not review our dog's profile before she groomed him. The owner did refund our money and was apologetic, but unfortunately this is a huge mistake that cannot be corrected. We will not be returning to this facility again for grooming. Please consider your risk before taking your pet to this business for grooming, and if you do, be very explicit in your instructions each time! read more

Elvin is as good as a groomer gets. He always does an amazing job grooming my fur babies.We show our Bichon Frises and so it is critical that we use a groomer that pays attention to detail and Elvin is the most talented dog stylist that I have EVER come across!!! Bichons tend to matt up on occasion and one moment you are thinking oh my goodness how can this fur be fixed? He is a miracle worker lol! In over a decade I have not found any other groomer that is good as he is; not to mention how gentle he is with all five of our Bichons. Overall great service and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic groomer who has a passion for what he does!!!! read more

Sparta's staff was so kind to my dog while boarding her there for 6 nights. She has severe separation anxiety and tore up/down quite a few items. $800 worth. We took care of our financial part of the damage as that was the right thing to do, and no fault of theirs. She is an angel dog that turns into a devil dog when we leave. I would definitely take my dog back there as they proved to be first class and patient in handling this situation. They truly love their animals that are entrusted to them. read more
