If I could give this place zero stars, I would. DO NOT trust your pet to Windhaven Veterinary Hospital. I brought my dog there with a prescription for a series of Adequan shots that clearly said to inject them intramuscularly. They did not pay attention to instructions from Texas A&M Verteinary Hospital and took it upon themselves to inject it subconsciously. I didn't find this out until the third time we went there for her injection. When I questioned them about this, they were very dismissive and said that is not their protocol to inject intramuscularly and that their "expert" doctor's protocol was to inject it subcutaneously. JENNIFER, apparently the manager there, was VERY RUDE and DISMISSIVE to me and REFUSED to have the staff inject it intramuscularly for my dog even when I asked them specifically to do it that way. Since Adequan injections are a series of shots, I called the Adequan manufacturer to discuss the situation with them, and they told me Adequan MUST be injected intramuscularly in order to be effective. So obviously the doctors and staff at Windhaven Veterinary Hospital are incompetent!!!! I would never trust my dog or any pets to this place given that they were so confidently wrong in their medication administration and completely ignored the instructions on the prescription. Aside from the fact that they could have really hurt my dog by not following medication instructions (luckily that was not this case for this particular medication), they didn't even apologize to me or offer any sort of compensation for the medication that they wasted. Definitely beware and take your pets elsewhere!! read more

In the middle of storm devastation, a rainbow rose over Windhaven Vet Hospital. At the last minute, Dr Dubose was able to accommodate my sick cat who had not eaten or drank in over 5 days while I was on vacation. They were able to do their own labs to determine cause. Not only was there great care in the office but also a call after to make sure she was doing well. The positive end in having a very sick 'child' is finding a new, caring vet! I had been using Windhaven Veterinary Hospital for over fifteen years until I moved about an hour and a half away from Dallas. My last fur child had crossed the Rainbow Bridge, so I wasn't in the market for a new vet at that time. Of course, things changed and I rescued Hank when he was found at our community dumpster chowing down on some discarded pizza. So, I scoured the net and asked around for the best vets in the area to get him neutered, checked out and up to date on his shots, etc... The first one I visited was a total Moron, lets just leave it at that... The second one was about a 30 minute drive and did the job, but couldn't hold a candle to Windhaven. The old saying rings true,"When you have had a taste of excellence, you cannot go back to mediocrity". When Hank started acting strange, I knew something wasn't right. However, I also knew if he was going to get the best treatment it was going to be from Dr. Marble, so I loaded him up and drove to Dallas. They got him in the next morning and she treated Hank as if he was her own. She takes her time, listens and goes above and beyond when it come to her profession. The hospital is clean, the staff is friendly and they are up to date on the latest technology. If you are looking for a caring vet for any of your fur family members, I highly recommend Dr. Marble and Windhaven for all your critters needs! read more

Updated Review: Clean, sanitary facility and caring, friendly staff. This office originally took my dog for a same-day appointment when my vet could not accommodate. The office provides clear written instructions for handling any issue and gave a free samples of monthly medicines. The reason I lowered my rating two stars is because this office nickel-and-dimes customers to make money. On my first visit, I paid about $200 to get a grass needle removed from my dog's paw, and the cone to prevent him from licking was an additional $30. I had a free one I could've used at home and wasn't told about this charge until check out. On my most recent visit, the vet said he would express my dog's anal glands, which is always included by my groomer, yet the office charged $38 to do this. A full grooming including this is $42, so if I had been told about the charge, I would have declined and made a grooming appointment. In addition to that, the office charged me $25 for a piece of paper titled an "Interstate Health Certificate" which I was told was needed for air travel. I regularly travel with my dog and this has never been a required certificate for any airline I have used. read more

I took my frenchie to the vet today for some allergy and skin issues, it was my first visit. I had a terrific experience here Dr Cummins and the nice vet tech (Brandon I think) Both of them were very kind and treated my dog with upmost priority. We did some diagnostics and everything is going to be fine with the help of some antibiotics and TLC. I really enjoyed my visit here today and come to think of it, my dog wasn't as much of a pain in the behind as he can be when he goes out to the vets office. The people working seem nice, but are clearly incompetent. My dog went in for surgery on her leg, and came home with aggressive congestive heart failure. They either overdosed her on sedatives or gave her the wrong type. They said her heart was fine 1-2 weeks before this happened and had an extremely negative reaction to the sedative at home so occam's razor. They later assumed my dog had brain cancer and overprescribed seizure medication that turned out she didn't need and turned her into a ragdoll. And due to their several other mistakes overstated how aggressive the heart failure was. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but everytime my dog came home after a stay here she was extremely dehydrated and lethargic, often taking days to recover, and they've been wrong on almost ever diagnosis. I'm glad my dog is still alive, but I've spent $1500+ on medication she didn't need. And now they won't fill my dog's medications without another check-up and current vaccinations. When they previously recommended against her getting vaccinated due to her age and condition! I'm not bringing my dog back here again, I'm not sure she'd survive another visit from these people. read more

Horrible unprofessional service. Windhaven VH doctor crippled beautiful growing young husky what we rescued from CA. She for no reason (except make money and not experience) put hard cast on leg of growing husky for few weeks, what crippled poor husky leg and almost kill her. Doctor lied to us, that it was different problem, it will strait up... It vent to $10,000 to fix it, but not 100% success. So poor husky is crippled for ever with new medical problems in future. I have see it every day that poor husky got crippled by horrible doctor. I didn't hear any "sorry I mess it up" from doctor. Please find better doctor if you love your best friend. To say I am disappointed in Windhaven Veterinary Hospital would be an understatement. My Yorkie was a patient of theirs for 3 1/2 years. She has pancreatitis and we have spent a small fortune at Windhaven to keep her healthy. We have always been patient, respectful and appreciative of the Veterinarians' care, however the support staff has left a lot to be desired from day one. About a month ago my pup was experiencing some different signs - signs I was not sure were pancreatitis. So on Saturday morning I was the first person a the clinic and was prepared to wait as long as necessary in the hopes of being seen. I have been in the waiting room of the clinic MANY times and witnessed "emergency patients" being worked in as necessary. Based on our 3 1/2 year relationship, I didn't see any reason why we wouldn't be seen and did not believe we were breaking any "rules" by showing up without an appointment in a somewhat urgent state. I asked the support staff if my pup could be seen, the woman in charge was quite rude but said she would ask the Veterinarian on call. She came back momentarily and announced to me (and 3 other patients in the room) quite loudly and rudely that "Dr. Martin cannot see you - if you're concerned you need to take your dog to an emergency veterinarian." No referral, no compassion, no respect - nothing. Just attitude. All would have been just fine had she kindly and compassionately told me that Dr. Martin was swamped and provided me with a referral to an emergency clinic. Instead, she was rude, hateful and didn't assist in any other way. She just stood there with her hand on her hip and a horrible disposition. I asked Dr. Martin to call me, informed her that her employee was very rude and she acted like she didn't even hear my complaint. $2,000 later my pup came home with a referral to a specialist and a GREAT Veterinarian in Frisco. The front office staff is absolutely amazing and is so night and day different from Windhaven - I wish we'd been going there for the past 3 1/2 years and not wasted our time (and a lot of money) at Windhaven. read more

Just moved here from CA. On Sunday, found this place on Google looking for vets in the area and reading reviews ... I liked what customers had to say about them and it was 5 minutes around the corner from where I lived ... I liked their website even more and added their number to my Blackberry. I figured I'd make an appt for a check-up when I could. I ended up at their office that Friday the 17th. They were wonderful with Harlow! I was trying out a new daycare ... around the corner from home. Picked her up during my lunch and she was bleeding from hitting her tail against something. Brat was so excited to see me she was sending a spray of blood everywhere. Luckily, I had her medical records in the car with me ... I called and spoke with Kevin. such a friendly, mellow guy - on my lunch hour - had to get back to work. His tone was exactly what I needed for my upset, dramatic self. Said drop her off - the vet will be in at 2pm was a quarter til 1pm ... They'd check her out for the tail wound and any other concerns I had, they'd call me and they were open til 7pm - off of work at 5pm. We arrived, he checked us in ... no filling out forms ... just had a conversation ... entered in the system ... copies of records, ready to take her. I told him she hadn't eaten, I bring her home for lunch ... they would feed her gentle stomach Science Diet ... no charge, her regular food is Origens ... did not have any diarrhea issues ... one less headache. I got two calls at work about Harlow's status ... was so busy, the 2nd call went to voicemail from Dr. Marble. She sounded lovely. When I picked up Harlow after 5pm, was not a here's your bill, your dog - you're good to go. I was escorted to the back ... was surprised it smelled amazing there. The facilities in the front were clean and odorless. The backend facilities were clean and odorless, fresh smelling as well ... unusual for me at a vet ... especially with cats prancing around behind the desk. Dr. Marble? LOVED HER! And she really is lovely! She explained how to care for Harlow's tail and her UTI for the next 2 weeks. When to administer pain meds and antibiotics ... what to expect from the cut, and how to circumvent my dog's behavior to lick at her tail. Showed me how to wrap her tail, what to expect as it heals, what to avoid ... What will happen if I don't adhere to her directions and if I wrap to tight. Harlow's behavior while she was them and being treated. Harlow was happily dozing in the lap of the vet tech ... by the time we left. 259 OTD. The pain med and antibiotic were like $100 bucks and the appt $56. They also gave me a discount the 3 urine analysis' they had to run ... was $67.50 but discounted to $51.50. It's the cheapest vet bill I've had for open wound care and a urinary tract infection. The next day we recieved an e-mail ... they have a pet portal I can log on and keep track of her health records, meds, vaccinations, etc. Amazing! Not going anywhere else. I lucked on good people, honest work, great service and convenience. My search has ended. Appreciate it more so as it was the 1st try. read more

Can't say enough good things about Dr. Martin, Dr. Marbles, and the staff at Windhaven! My dog has been going to the team at Windhaven since I got her as a puppy and I'm so glad I found them! They were incredibly kind and helpful when my dog was injured, going out of their way to answer my billion questions and taking time to update me regularly while my dog was in their care. They're very accommodating and I've never had an issue making an appointment. Appointments are quick, but the staff always takes times to do a thorough exam and address any questions or concerns I have. I highly recommend the team at Windhaven for your pet's care! read more

My cat was exhibiting symptoms of a potential UTI and wanting to do all I could to ensure she was not in pain, I immediately began researching nearby vets. Since moving back from Austin I had not yet sought out a vet to consistently bring my pets to. I guess part of me was putting this decision off as in the not-to-distant past, I had to cope with losing a very dear pet due to unforeseen and not-caught-until-it-was-too-late health complications. This association of trauma/pain with vet visits (much like my cat probably feels) brought on an aversion to making an appointment for anything other than routine checkups. Windhaven Vet had a couple of high ratings/reviews and were close enough for me to make their latest appointment. The front office staff were just as patient, informative and helpful in person as they were on the phone, and the office manager struck up a friendly conversation with me for the very brief time I waited to go back to an examination room. Surprisingly, their office was quite clean with no outstanding offensive odors, unlike some other veterinary practices. As my poor cat was out of her element, she was incredibly frightened and non-cooperative. I was not looking forward to her introduction to a stranger. After only a couple of minutes, Dr. Marble and a vet tech came in the examination room and calmly helped me get my cat into a stable position for them to take a look at her. During the whole process, Dr. Marble spoke with me in calm tones about what the potentials issues were and suggested treatments depending on what the issue was. She was incredibly knowledgeable and cognizant of my cat's behavior. She also asked me questions that might help her better understand my cat's habits and health. She listened, which is huge feat for some doctors. Her demeanor immediately put me at ease and my cat adapted much more positively to the stressful situation then I had expected. Also, the entire time that Dr. Marble and I were talking, the vet tech was very comforting to my cat and treated her with kindness. Dr. Marble spent time answering other questions and concerns I shared with her and wrote her recommendations down for me so I would not forget them. She also checked my cat's teeth and other areas that she felt were important to her health and gave instructions on how to care for them. After a shot of antibiotics, my cat is doing much better. In case this occurs again, (as UTIs can be frequent in cats) I am more aware of what signs to look for, what the variations could be, and what can be done to help her. I really appreciate how caring and knowledgeable their entire office is. I instantly knew that I had found a "family" vet that I felt confident in taking my pets to and would trust them to be in good hands. I may dread the costs associated but I do not dread a vet appointment at this vet. read more

I took my dog here when he hurt his leg. They were very quick to fit me in and everyone was very professional with clean facilities. My only complaint was I felt like they wanted me to do all these procedures that I thought were unnecessary. They were not pushy about it, but you can't help but feel guilty for not doing exactly what they recommend. I will be using them again. read more

I was very satisfied with my first (and definitely not last!) experience with Dr. Marble and the staff at Windhaven Veterinary Hospital. I noticed a large tumor on my dog's (Riley) shoulder that was causing him severe pain. After some research on vets in the area, I contacted Windhaven first thing the following morning and they penciled me in for an emergency appointment immediately. Riley ended up needing to be left at Windhaven for a minor procedure. Dr. Marble was incredibly informative about Riley's condition and she and the staff took amazing care of him! Riley has issues with separation anxiety and always has trouble at the groomers or during past vet visits. When I came to get Riley, he was very at ease and I could tell he really enjoyed the staff. One of the receptionists even decorated a T-shirt for him to wear (to cover his surgical wound), which the whole office signed. I cannot recommend these guys enough! I've been visiting this veterinary hospital for about a year now and they're amazing! I originally took Evie to another vet in Carrollton to be spayed and I was very unhappy there. So I found the Windhaven Veterinary Hospital where Evie sees Dr. Marble. Dr. Marble is so nice, and explains everything thoroughly, will call me to update me on Evie's status, and I can call her if I have any questions. Everyone in the office is nice, kind, and caring. They always greet us (Evie and I) by name - and I've never had to wait longer than 2 minutes to be called into a room even when I arrive 10 minutes early. Evie hurt her back and we had to get treatment and a diagnosis - I visited them on Saturday, and Evie was diagnosed and on proper medicine within two days. Thanks so much! read more

This place is amazing ! Very clean, affordable, and very professional! They got me in last minute and managed to perform a last minute drain and lance on my dog who had a severe case of cellulitis. It's really really difficult to find and experience a satisfying and heart warming customer service, but with this place we received it. I have been through at least 4 different vets in the past 2 weeks who were nothing but a waste of money and time. I recommend this place to anyone who is reading this review. I promise you won't regret the visit. Krista was rude and unwilling to help. I just adopted an adult dog who is having separation anxiety and is hurting himself to where he is bleeding. One of my friends suggested Anxitane and said I should get him to a vet. I called this office bc it's close to my home and asked about the over the counter med - Anxitane. Krista's tone was immediately negative and told me she couldn't help me since I'm not a client. I asked again if they carried the med and she finally said yes, but repeated that she could not help me since I am not a client. I then said I was confused - are they not accepting new clients? Again in a rude tone, Krista said yes, but I'd have to come in next week. I told her I was not opposed to coming in, but I want to take my dog to a place that cares about our situation and she didn't seem to. Krista then hung up on me. It's a Saturday and I'm desperate to help my dog. All I wanted was help. I purposefully included Krista's name bc I read a previous review about poor customer service. That review did not include a name. I want to say the lady who answered my call was very nice and seemed to care. read more

We took our Chiweenie to Windhaven a few months ago for a wellness exam, and to express a few medical concerns we had. Our appointment was with Dr. Martin, and we absolutely love her. Our pup is very shy and timid around strangers and she made him feel so comfortable. You can tell that she loves what she does. Us being first time puppy parents, she answered all of our questions, and started our fur baby on medication as well as a Paws Plan (VERY affordable). Fast forward a few months and we adopted another dog (German Shepherd/Collie mix) and it was time to get him checked out and put on a Paws Plan, and time for another wellness exam for our Chiweenie. Again, we asked for Dr. Martin and she was just as nice and informative as last time! Our Shepherd took to her immediately and Dr. Martin was again gentle and patient with our Chiweenie. We think so highly of Windhaven. Not to mention the staff is so sweet and attentive to our pups and us! We're so happy that we have a go-to vet for our babies! read more

I was a new client and was taking my 3 yr old Boston Terrier for the first time. My appointment was at 10:30 and I was running behind 12 mins because I got lost. I have never been given so much attitude in my life. If this is how they are going to treat a new customer for getting lost they probably beat the dogs. Terrible place. If I ran my practice like that I would be ashamed of my staff. I highly suggest anyone looking for a new vet goes elsewhere. I have been taking my dogs here for over two years and I love how well they are taken care of when we visit. Both of my dogs have had minor surgeries here and I was very satisfied with the outcome. Dr. Martin is very nice, thorough, and takes the time to explain everything in a way I can understand. They are also very transparent when it comes to cost of procedures. Dr. Kimberly Martin is an experienced and caring vet. She truly loves animals. She has a calming influence on pets and owners! She remembers your pet and any past issues associated with him. She doesn't push you into aggressive and costly surgeries or procedures if there are other options you can try. My four year old maltipoo, Dakota, has arthritis/MCL issues in her knee. Dr. Martin has advised us to use salmon oil, Dasuquin joint supplement every other day, and limit sprinting and jumping. This has been working - we are seeing improvement and limping has stopped. She also referred us to a good surgeon and a rehab specialist if we needed to explore more aggressive options in the future. Great friendly staff and very clean office. Very reasonable boarding rates that include food. Nice to have your own vet available for consult if your dog has any problems while boarding! read more

Mimi was a patient of Dr Marble for the last 6 yrs.Poor Mimi suffers from everything!; allergies (bad ones), arthritis, etc. Dr Marble was always so sweet to my dog and always explained all our options in a very simple and understandable way. last week Mimi became ill with heart congestive disorder and sadly ,we put her to sleep this morning. I have been taking my Chi to Dr. Marble for 5 years with excellent care. My parents recently came to visit from out of state. Their 6 lb. Chi decided to jump off my 2nd floor balcony, on a Saturday right before closing time. Dr. Marble & staff stopped everything as soon as we ran in the door. By the grace of God, the dog suffered no broken bones and is doing well. Dr. Marble and staff checked in 4 times after and Dr. Marble herself 3 times to check on Elvis. We truly are thankful for the caring, professional service we have received! My dog, Jack has also visited Dr. Martin as well and it has been very positive. The vet here is ok, but they price gouge like crazy, from the office visit $65 to the drug markup upwards of $400%, I'm over it. Glad others don't mind paying these insane prices, I come from a large city that doesn't charge nearly as much, and doesn't constantly try and sell me other services my dog doesn't need. I have had dogs for many years and have been to a number of veterinary hospitals. I would not take my dogs anywhere else but Windhaven Veterinary Hospital now. Although I usually see Dr. Jennifer Marble, who is wonderful, the entire staff is caring and professional. I had two geriatric dogs with numerous health issues and I don't think they could have gotten any better care. Dr. Marble always looks for solutions to problems, but always with the dog's best interests at heart. We have been patients at Windhaven since 2002. We have 2 dogs. This is a very clean hospital with GREAT staff. My older dog had a stroke last week and when I called to let them know something was horribly wrong, they told me to come in right away. Sure enough, after several tests, Dr. Martin confirmed that Champ did have a stroke. Well, I lost it, and Dr. Martin and all the assistants were so compassionate and helpful. I felt like Champ was getting state of the art care and Lo and Behold, Champ has recovered incredibly. Not 100%, but close. The follow up calls and follow up appointments have been so reassuring. We were in great hands. We've also seen Dr. Marble and she too is a gem. These ladies are SO smart and caring!
