My family has been bringing our dogs to Pet Paradise Premier in Plano for nearly 10 years. Over that time they've cared for three of our dogs: Lily, our brindle sweetheart; Nova, my brilliant Catahoula rescue; and now Blondie, our playful pit-husky mix. Blondie currently attends daycare two or three days a week and boards there when we travel. Overall we've had many good experiences. The dogs get exercise, socialization, and the staff clearly knows them well. But the real reason we remain loyal clients is Wendy Hudgins. Over the years there have been a couple situations where things didn't go exactly as expected. Those moments are when you find out what a business is really made of. Wendy has repeatedly stepped in with professionalism, calm leadership, and genuine care. She takes ownership, communicates openly, and clearly cares about the animals and the families who trust them to Pet Paradise. There were times she even proactively called to let us know about something happening so we were never left wondering. That kind of accountability and transparency matters. To be very honest: if Wendy wasn't part of the team, we probably would have moved on. She is an incredible asset to Pet Paradise and exactly the kind of person you hope is looking after your dog. There seemed to be awareness and a far better groomer was in place by early this year. But the front desk personnel... seemed always a new person and that became a real challenge. Experienced a few surprises when it came to final price vs original quote. Our observation is the new hires were not trained well prior to being on the floor and working with customers. Inaccurate price quotes, several booking mistakes, etc. After navigating a challenging phone call with yet another new person to simply book an appointment, I received a voice message from the owner stating they would no longer take us as customers. She cited behavior from that morning (I called around 4pm) and she stated she hadn't viewed the camera footage...?!? Again I had simply called and neither me nor my spouse had stepped foot in there in the prior 30 days. The owner invited a call back which I took her up on within 15 minutes of her phone call. She didn't answer, I left a message and she never bothered to return my call. Please see photo of the owner's voicemail transcript. My take: employees are likely treated similarly hence the constant churn and turnover. Beware!

He also felt very clean when I got him back after a week. I unfortunately didn't realize how clean he was until after I left, so I'm unsure whether they bathe him or not. But very pleased.

The facility is great; whoever built it knew what they were doing. They even have a place for dogs…read morethat are a little aggressive or don't like to be touched. The dog runs have a door that can be raised for the dogs to go out in a field to run and do their business then the dog comes back to in dog run so the staff doesn't even have to touch him perfect place for my dog. When I first went in I said do y'all keep aggressive dogs and I said yes we do. I was very excited to find a place for Kujo. I went back to see where they kept them, and they showed me the door that goes out to the field for them to run. I was so happy. I explained to the staff not to pet Kujo because he doesn't like other people, he's just likes me and my wife, but they decided they need to be able to handle him and pet him. The one boy that works there, I guess he's a man got a little scratch on his arm when he was screwing with Kujo so when I called back about three or four months later, he said they can't keep him because they can't handle him. They have a great place. They just need to train their staff. Even though they have the perfect pace for working dogs that you cant pet they're not trained at all to handle those types of dogs. The boy in the picture below is the boy that caused all the problem, and he lied to me about being there when I picked my dog up. Not one word about his little scratch. They have one male that works there his name is Cole. He is in the picture below feeding Kujo a treat by hand. I had a deal with Cole and other staff to tip them $200 if they send me pictures of Kujo in the field getting his running. We are still trying to find a good place for our baby since his trainer retired. From the Pappy's manager Dee, I appreciate your reply and insight regarding your experience at our facility. I will keep it in mind. We completely understand Kujo's personal space preferences and our team accommodated for that during his previous stays. However, this is not a feasible option going forward as our staff does have to be able to handle any pets in our care. I have reminded our team of our policies for accepting pets to avoid any future uncertainty on the matter. I have also reviewed the footage and can confirm. The employee present was adhering to Kujo's boundaries when Kujo approached the employee first and bit his arm. The bite did break skin but did not require medical attention which I believe is also part of why you were not informed during Kujo's stay in February. I have discussed the correct procedures for customer communication with our guest service reps because sharing pertinent information like this should never be missed. Thank you again. Second time using Happy Paws for my Golden Retriever. Both times, I provided a picture that clearly…read moreshowed the desired cut. To start off, they were - at minimum - one hour late to the appointment each time. The first time, the hair cut wasn't quite what we wanted and we let them know, but the owner more or less let us know we were wrong. The second time we used them, I showed a clear picture and requested 'not too short.' Our dog came back nearly shaved on the body and had numerous linear cuts on her belly from the trimmer. I let the owner know, and they again said I requested shorter than the picture and said the cuts were 'ant bites.' I have attached a picture of the, clearly linear, 'ant bites.' I don't expect or require perfection, but when mistakes are clearly being made I do expect the owner to be less than purely dismissive of the problems. I will not be using Happy Paws and Wagging Tails again. Week+ later I am having to take my dog to the vet today because the cuts the groomers caused, including within her ears, are still not healed and her ears are bleeding now.
