I am a part of a Building Association where this company came out gave us an estimate and we pay them exactly what they asked for regarding an irrigation system. They installed the system but didn't install backup valves and pressure reducers which made the system ineffective. So now we are nearly $8,000 in the hole and have a irrigation system that won't work because this company did not complete the work needed for the system to operate. And to top it off they are not calling our association back to try to make us whole. We don't know what to do at this point and if you can imagine paying nearly $8,000 for an irrigation system that you cannot use and the owner/operator will not make things right upset you everyday you walk outside and look at your lawn. read more

In other words we spent money towards a repair that he never completed nor extended the minimal courtesy to tell us he was not completing it. Days later I received a text message asking to reschedule that no one was home for the appointment. My cameras proved that no one showed up for our scheduled appointment. In May I contacted Spartan Irrigation and asked them to come out to my house to set up my sprinkler system for Spring. I was on the phone when their workman (Julian) left but he told me that everything was done except for the large section of my yard that was watered by a faucet under my porch because that faucet had a leak. After I paid him, he said he would return in a month to make sure everything was working. After I got off the phone, I checked to see what the problem was with the faucet and discovered that the leak stopped after I unscrewed the hose and refastened it after using a little liquid sealant which stopped the leak but then I discovered many of the sprinklers didn't work because of clogs and missing heads. I also discovered that he did not set up any of the timers anywhere. Apparently, after seeing the small leak he decided this prevented him from doing anything more so he could leave after telling me of the leak and getting paid. He never did return or even call me since which is probably good because I lost all faith in this company. If they can't fix a simple leaking faucet, I don't know how they can fine tune a home watering system. I also remember thinking at the time that the sealant probably wasn't necessary because it looked like he didn't align the threads when he tried to attach the hose to the faucet BTW I should have been put on notice when I had to call them on the day of the first visit because, after waiting two hours, I called only to be told by Julian his truck broke down and he forgot to call me. I see almost of this company's reviews are excellent. Hopefully the worker that they sent to my house last Spring no longer works there. ------------------ My response to owner's reply ..... Wow! Since I don't know how to begin, I'll make this short. Julian spoke excellent English and didn't even have an accent. Your claim that I said about being in AMERICA is strange in that my wife is a Chinese immigrant whose English is a second language. She has an accent, not Julian. Also, I never accused Julian of causing a leak because there was no leak. After I loosened the faucet connection and screwed it back on correctly the leak stopped. As for any argument before Jullian left, he left smiling while putting my payment into his pocket. I only discovered all the problems I mentioned after he left. Spartan's President, Victor, surveyed the property and gave us an estimate and timeline. Who knew that there were so many issues involved with installing an irrigation system; Multiple permits, a property survey, flagging for underground pipes and complex outdoor plumbing. Victor coordinated all activities and made sure everything was done correctly. The system is installed, controlled by a modern mobile app and works like a charm. It so happened that before Spartan left, We had a plumbing leak caused by a loose connection behind a wall from our upstairs bathroom causing water to drip through the ceiling. One of Spartan's crew diagnosed the problem, fixed the leak and patched the ceiling so that it looks better than before. Great people, top-flight, professional service. I could not recommend this business more. I was admittedly initially a little hesitant with Victor's low pricing compared to the rest of the market, but his work is second to none, and it's obvious he focuses on a repeat business model, driving ongoing income from his clients as opposed to charging a lot upfront. This business will work with you to help you figure out what you really need/what really needs to be done, as opposed to you ending up with something you don't really need (which is rare in this day and age). First, I live in Chicago, not California. - - I found Spartan Irrigation via Yelp and read the reviews (which, on average, were very good). I'm very pleased with the system though I didn't get to use it much since it's only been installed since Oct. 2024. Victor was very professional. His team got the job done well. Even my neighbors - who were looking at the process - mentioned how impressed they were with the service. Initially, I was not sure that I could pay the full fee, but Victor was willing to work with me and set up a short-term plan. I don't like owing small business owners and was happy that, in the end, I was able to pay in full without a payment plan. But just the fact that he was willing to work with me really impressed me. -- The team fixed whatever openings they needed to make. I continue to chuckle every time I think of the guy's remark after patching the drywall, "See? Nothing happened!" And that's true. My wall looked like nothing had been cut out. Victor came back to shut the system down for winter, and did so at a time best for me (especially important since I didn't have wiggle room due to my schedule). --- This is a long post, but I believe in offering a well-thought-out review so that others will have a good sense of the company they are thinking about doing business with.
