Dishonest company will NOT use them again. My water heater broke down after 12 years of use. The tech came out and agreed that it needed to be replaced. They sent a service estimate stating that I need some modifications as well???? WTH??? what modifications??? I went ahead and requested 2nd opinion, and sure enough it was all made up by the tech or company to make extra money. Don't trust them they just want to collect AHS service fee and not do the work. I do have to say that Tony is a nice guy, responsive and punctual. The reviews seemed good for this company and they may be good if you hire them directly but do not choose this company if you have AHS American home shield, unless your plumbing issue is super simple. First of all, home warranties I am realizing are very useless unless the issue is super simple. I had called AHS asking for a company that had the least complaints and this one I was told is rated triple A. I would say that they are very responsive and quick to schedule, but unmotivated to fix your plumbing issue if it is something that takes more than 15 minutes. My sink was clogged and Tony ran a snake and worked diligently for 15 minutes or so but then told me "bad news, the warranty only covers up to 20 ft and I ran my whole snake down there, you will have to contact your HOA." I then call my HOA plumber CR plumbing and they arrive a few hours later and unclog it with a 30ft snake. You couldn't get another snake 10 ft longer??? So I was annoyed and looked at my AHS contract that says I am covered up to 100ft. This is ridiculous for me to spend my service charge for this company to come and be so unmotivated to fix the issue they couldn't go 10 more feet. I do not recommend a company that only does the minimum because I ended up having to pay double for something that could have been done right the first time with just a tiny bit more effort. Who brings a 20ft snake??? You gotta have at least 35 to be a professional read more

Dishonest Company. AHS sent out Spartan Plumbing as my old (over 13 years) water heater isn't heating water any longer to the point of being hot and actually dangerous as it would only go to 120 degrees (read up on Legionnaire's disease). I also perform regular maintenance on my water heater with annual flushes. Tech didn't check the burners, or even the water temp. Tech agreed that it needed to be replaced and was at the end of its service life due to normal wear and tear. The technician is NOT the one who submitted the report to AHS but the owner, who basically lied and told AHS that the unit was functioning fine and just needed maintenance. Getting a 2nd opinion now. Don't trust these guys. It seems like they just want to collect the service fee from AHS and not perform the work (or have some incentive to deny AHS claims.) read more

Had a plumber come out from Spartan plumbing as they were assigned by my home warranty company. At first was excited finally seeing a tech with good reviews assigned by the warranty company. I have had bad luck with warranty assigned techs in the past. In this case, the tech tried for about 30 minutes to snake the shower drain, but was unable to unclog it. I have no doubt that he did try his best. Unfortunately, his best was not good enough and his suggestion was to knock out the shower to find where the clog was in the drain. He thought maybe the pipe was installed wrong (but this was just a guess). Since I didn't have the appetite to redo my entire bathroom, I paid for a different plumber to come out and try to clear the drain. The other plumber came out and was able to clear the clog in 15 minutes with their snake. It was unfortunate that I had to pay for a second plumber to fix the problem, but I'm glad I did. It was definitely cheaper than knocking out my entire shower!! I tried contacting Spartan to help get my $125 service fee back from the warranty because they misdiagnosed the problem and didn't have the proper skill to unclog the drain. However, because he "tried his best" he thought that was good enough and I should have to still pay the fee. Unfortunately the problem was that this plumber was not able to unclog a drain, which was exactly what I was paying for.I'm glad that the second plumber I called was able to fix it. Again, I tried resolving directly with them, but they told me I needed to dispute with the warranty company. I feel bad for leaving a poor review, but I also don't like to pay twice for a repair job. 2 stars because they did "try their best." I had called independent contractors to come in and check on the issue because I was scared the problem would get worse over the weekend. AHS sent us another company that didn't finish the job and had to order special parts for leaking toilet. 4 days later they closed service call. AHS was then assigned are showed up quickly and Tony was very. Ice and professional saying the part needed was common and could have been bought at Lowes. 39 mins later toilet was fixed. A few weeks ago, American Home Shield appointed Relaxed Heating & Air, to check on my sewer back-up. We have had many problems since moving here almost 6 years ago. Two associates, came out and quickly figured out what was going on. The main clean-out (that was apparently missing, which I found out a few years ago and had to add a new one) was hiding under some bushes and was about 10 inches underground, capped with an old piece of pipe! We had several plumbing companies come out to check a pressure issue we were experiencing in our new home, before we got ahold of Spartan through our home warranty company. The other technicians listened to my brief description and said we would probably need a pump installed and they might have to lay new pipe etc etc... It felt like I was getting hustled, so I kept shopping. My boys at Spartan came out, listened to me describe the problems, asked a few questions... and came up with a fix in 15 minutes! I've used these guys before and never had an issue with them. They are very nice. However, this last go around has been tremendously disappointing. I booked them through AHI for a bathtub leak. Alen thought it was just because the tub needed caulking which he said I could do myself. Then the washing machine started not draining and stinky water came out of the sinks. He agreed to come a couple of days later but never showed up saying he thought it was for the following week. Why would I wait almost two weeks to fix this issue? He sent another guy also very nice who couldn't fix the issue with what they had in the van. They said they'd be back with a bigger snake and I'm still waiting. Alen from Spartan Plumbing called me within a few hours of being assigned to my plumbing issue and was able to get me an appointment the very next day (not to mention on a Saturday!!) Not only did Alen communicate quickly but he was also able to come earlier then the initial time frame that he originally had available which was AWESOME!! Spartan was assigned to come out through my warranty plan to find the cause of sewer gas smell in the bathroom. Told them it would come and go and mostly smelled at night but it was sometimes so bad we had to seal off the room with the ceiling fan on and window open to clear it out. They came mid-day and of course at that time the bathroom didn't smell at all, but my description of the problem should've been enough for them to figure it out. They did not. Since it didn't smell at that time, I said I was sure it was the toilet. They went under the crawl and said there were no leaks in my pipes. Said maybe there was a crack in my vent pipe in which case they'd have to break into the wall to find it and my home warranty didn't cover that. So we did nothing, the smell came back with a vengeance and we called another plumbing company one month later. Once again, it didn't smell when he was here but it didn't matter this time. In fact, he never even went into the bathroom. After hearing my description he went straight into the crawl and found the cause of this problem in about 30 seconds. A broken wax seal under the toilet, which is a very common problem. I asked him why it smelled more at night. He said because at night the air is colder and usually not as breezy so the air under the house just sits there and that allows the smell to build and it just pervades the room above. I'm no plumber and did my own research after the smell came back and "broken wax seal under toilet" was what I thought it was. I hate to say it, but it makes me wonder if home warranty companies have an unspoken agreement urging their contractors not to look for problems that aren't obvious so that they don't have to pay for the repair. Sadly that wouldn't surprise me. I actually hired the plumber this time without using my home warranty plan because I didn't want to waste my time again. I needed a solution and then get it fixed. I'll be cancelling my warranty plan after this too. Two stars because they were nice guys who practiced safe covid protocols while inside our home. I hate to give bad reviews, but I also hate wasting money and time on problems that should be easy to identify and fix. read more

These guys were assigned to us from AHS our home warranty company. Technician showed up to take a look at our water heater that was still under warranty, told me he needs to order parts and be back to repair it. Great! Except that is not what happened some dude named Allen I believe decided to write this up and send to AHS as "preexisting", so AHS denied coverage. I call Spartan and ask him why he put preexisting and his explanation was that he wasn't sure if the water heater had been flushed regularly and that these things "don't just stop working". That is exactly what they do actually! Honeywell Pilot assemblies are notorious for failing and that is exactly what happened to us. 1. Flushing water heater has no effect on pilot system (which failed) only helps maintain temp of hot water. 2. He has no way of actually knowing if the water heater was being flushed or not. 3. Our pilot assembly failed which is a common issue among these makes, all plumbers know this! 4. He never talked to the technician that came out, just decided to add his own wording for no apparent reason other than avoiding coming back to do the work. Seems like these guys are running a scam with or on AHS and their customers! I am sure if you book them directly and not through home warranty you may have different results but who knows!? Acrown plumbing was assigned to us for our 2nd opinion, they took care of the issue and repaired the water heater in no time at all! I would recommend Acrown to anyone in need of plumbing service and if you have AHS home warranty ask for Acrown to be assigned over Spartan! read more

Assigned from AHS and unless the visit comes with a $1000 add on Spartan Plumbing won't fix the problem saying it's uncovered, or will say that they are ordering parts and a letter arrives from AHS stating the item isn't covered. This company is dishonest and only wants to replace your water heater. I had to call AHS and ban this company from ever coming to my house again. These guys are fantastic!! Our water heater had an issue that left us without hot water for about a week. Calling Alan and the guys at Spartan Plumbing was great because they maintained fantastic communication with us from the appointment through completing the job We understand that these guys are busy and in demand, so we made our appointment, but also asked if we can be contacted if they have any cancellations prior to our appointment. Well, I guess we lucked out because they did have a cancellation which allowed them to arrive sooner for our initial appointment, as well as the return appointment. We needed a part changed out, so it needed to be ordered first and then installed later. Alan gave us options and helped us to expedite shipping of the part. He and his tech were both very polite and professional during their time at our home. I felt very respected and at ease, knowing these people were very good at their job. Plumbing work was fine but took way too long to come out. Water to entire house had to be turned off for many days before repair was made.

Alen came to the house through our home warranty and quickly was able to determine what was wrong with our disposer and dealt with the insurance company to get a replacement. When he returned with the new disposer, he also fixed the faucet that was loose on the sink. I would call Spartan Plumbing for any future needs, they are AMAZING!! read more
