I took my CCW training and qual with Bay Area Tactical and have to say, they are fantastic group of guys. The courses were great in that they struck what in my opinion was a good balance of basic and more advanced instruction that allowed both beginners and more seasoned individuals to gain something from the course. The instructors were very friendly and gave good and solid advice. I did receive a critique on my shooting form a few times, but it was given in a constructive way, and it continues to be helpful to this day. I did end up passing my qual on the first try! I will most likely take my next CCW trainings with this group in the future when I will have to renew my permit. Highly recommend!

They do cash trade-ins day-of-sale unlike most gun shops in the area that only do consignment. They take the time to properly appraise what you bring in, make sure it's legal for sale in California and make sure all the required paperwork is filled out properly. Their prices are generally fair market value from what I've seen considering it's a cash-day-of trade-in. You'll be waiting for maybe an hour at most here to get paid for selling your stuff instead of the weeks that you would with a consignment sale or what passes for a private-party transaction in CA. Could you potentially get more selling privately or putting your stuff on consignment and waiting for it to move instead? Maybe, but their way of doing things avoids a lot of the multiple trips and waiting time that comes with doing either of those other two options instead in California. I would definitely recommend coming here if you have guns you need to sell urgently or if you would just rather not deal with selling on consignment or arranging a private-party sale yourself.

You can set up an appointment online or use the kiosk when you get there. If you're picking up or purchasing a firearm, I'd definitely set aside about an hour to an hour and a half because it can take some time. The gun counter line closes at 8 PM on weekdays, so keep that in mind. The employees I dealt with were friendly, professional, and helpful throughout the process. Overall, a really good experience.

With rows and rows of tackle, I am able to find most lake specific lures, weights, bait, hooks, etc. Sometimes I have to go to the store at the lake itself and get even more specific items, but BPS usually has what I need. Whenever I enter the store, the personnel always ask if I need help or direct me to the area where more specific help can be found. Moreover, the store is dog friendly and has dog treats at the ready. Occasionally, BPS will host a Monday club night whereby if you are a BPS club member, you can stand in line to get a light meal and enter a raffle to win items, but I recommend you go early and stand in line or else there will be no more food left.

They are a really small place that only does DROS services and they don't sell actual firearms. Loc is a great guy who runs the place. He is an instructor as well as an RO., and he really knows his stuff. Most of all, he literally is friendly. I can tell you from my experience that a lot of FFL folks tend to be gun snobs who act like they know everything and actually look down on customers like we are peasants who know nothing about guns. It's unfortunate that this hobby has a lot of know it all jerks.. They are really friendly and best of all because they are a very knowledgeable. They are more than happy to answer your questions no matter how dumb you may think your question is.. they really do make the firearms hobby more enjoyable . it is especially important when you live in California where there are so many gun laws that changed almost monthly that it's good to have a knowledgeable person to help you deal with it all.. I haven't done any firearms transfers yet, but I've done several ammunition transfers and it was a breeze. Finally had the chance to come here and I'm so happy I did…read more Once you drive over the hill entering the parking lot, you see a massive parking lot. On the right side is a huge trap shooting area and at the back of the parking lot is where you check in for the pistol and rifle range. You sign in, read review the rules and pay the fee ($25 per person). From there you'll be assigned a bay depending on what you're shooting. Once you enter the range, you go to your bay and set up. Note that you must have eye protection and ear protection on at all times when you're inside the shooting area. If you shoot rifle, they have stands depending if you're lefty or righty. You can shoot seated or laying down, supported or unsupported. I don't think they allow you to shoot rifle standing up for safety purposes. For pistol, they have steel targets or free paper targets anywhere between 25 to 100 yards. The steel targets at 25 yards is a little far for first time shooters. The steel target is about the size of an average size backpack. So at 25 yards it might seem hard to hit for first time shooters. So I recommend getting a big paper target so you have a better chance to hit the target. The far targets are 100 yards. More meant for rifle, but if you're good with a pistol it's a fun challenge. You can shoot the steel gong, or set up paper targets. The range attendants are very strict about the rules but this is common and expected because safety so important when dealing with firearms. I advise first timer shooters to read and know the rules before entering the facility. There are bathrooms to the back left of the parking lot next to the huge cool shotgun shell structure. What a fun first time here. I'm definitely coming back. Maybe even pursue a membership one of these days.

CCW instructor & competitive shooter here…read more I've been going to Sunnyvale rod and gun club for quite some time now. Some days busy than others so I understand that there can be a wait sometimes. Each event was warranted understandably so. However, today was ridiculous. I arrived with two friends to get them to shoot their guns and offer some guidance. We arrived at 6:45pm got in line and got placed in the waitlist queue. We waited for about an hour and 15 min - we were told that it would be 40mins - then my name gets called I signed in, my friend signed in, then my other friend started having issues with the tablet. It stated it "failed to sign in" About 5min have passed. The range master comes to the tablet he spends 10 mins trying to figure things out, and just took his sweet time. After a total of 20 mins passed the range master just walked away not really giving us an answer. I asked "is there a manual way to sign in?" "In an event the tablet goes down, y'all don't have physical documentation you can use in a situation like this?" The person at the register just looked at me and said "No". You gotta be kidding me. That literally makes no sense. So an hour passed + the staff wasting 20 min, they told us to "call it a night" Simply because their tablet to sign in. Wasn't working. I want to come back. Whenever need to do some testing, zeroing, chrono, this was the place to go. There's always good vibes here, but this definitely put a bad taste in my mouth.
