Growing up in Connecticut I was spoiled to constantly be around good Greek and Italian pizza joints. I was excited to see the 4 Star reviews of Sparta and decided to give it a try after a football game at Pop Keeney. Listen I'm not here to give bad reviews so I'm going to just tell you this place wasn't my jam. The pizza was too dough-y about 1/2-2/3 of an inch thick and by the look of the orange cheese they also put a cheddar cheese over the mozzarella. Sorry cheddar has its place, it's just not on my pizza. I ordered a meatball sub, yes it says there's mushrooms on it. Those mushrooms aren't sautéed they tasted by the crispness they were baked/broiled on. And they were put on about a 1:1 ratio with the tiny slices of meatballs. Again not my jam. My kinda pizza has fresh sliced mozzarella, a fresh sauce that doesn't taste like it's inundated with a ton of herbs, and I want meatballs in my sub. This was a one and done for me. read more

First, the employees were all great and friendly. Our party had Spaghettini, a personal pizza, and the "low-carb" chicken casserole. Pizza and noodles were both good and as expected. The casserole was a nightmare. A pizza place is not generally high on my list of restaurants to find low-carb options, but my son is a pizza fiend and I had checked the menu before coming to make sure I could find something to eat. The menu describes the casserole as Chicken, Mushrooms, Red Onions, Feta Cheese, Chopped Tomatoes, and Marinara, smothered with Danish cheese - sounds great! What was delivered to my table had all of the listed components; roughly 1/4 cup of sliced chicken breast, reasonable portions of mushrooms, onions, and feta, and easily 1-1/2 cups of marinara with a healthy dose of Danish cheese. It was basically a bowl of marinara with a small sprinkling of chicken. After eating the cheese off of the top, I picked through to find the chicken pieces and left the dish (a lasagna boat) easily 80% full of marinara. If you love marinara and don't mind spending $13 for a bowl of it, this is the dish for you. read more

Had dinner for my wife's birthday, along with one of our daughters. The food was fantastic, great service with friendly, attentive servers. Yea! The wife and I ate here for the first time. Friendly greeter at the door and our server, Raina, was a delight. We ordered off the senior menu and the serving came in what I'll describe as a large cereal bowl. It was the perfect size. The garlic bread that came with it was enormous and tasty. The two of us got all that plus two scoops each of Spumoni for $30 (pre tip). We don't get to eat in Bothell very often, but we will be back. Great first impression. read more

We really enjoy this pizza spot. It has a family restaurant feel, plenty of seating, and great food. We love the pizza, and I think the crust is great. I am not a big fan of Pizza, but Sparta's Pizza has truly changed my mind. Their pizza is very unique, and they cook it to the perfection. Every time I went there I have order custom pizza with my favorite toppings. It has always been fantastic. The staff are also very polite and friendly. My husband and I have been dining at this restaurant for years and we are never disappointed. This is the best italian food west of the Mississippi! All of the food here is excellent, but we generally get a medium sized pizza, my half is the Greek and my husband's is sausage, green pepper and onions served with a crisp salad with blue cheese dressing. The Danish mozzarella on the pizza is generous, the toppings are fresh and the crust is absolutely delicious. The staff is warm and friendly and the atmosphere feels the same. You may have to pay a bit more than your run of the mill pizza chains, but it is more than worth it! read more

I don't give out 5 stars often, but this place deserves it 100%... I just had a pizza with pepperoni, Italian sausage, and Italian salami, I'll tell anyone that they have to try this pizza in the exact same way. Forget all the chain pizza that most of us are used to, this place blows them all away with the first slice that hits your mouth. Will never understand how this place isn't packed when I go. Great staff! Friendly and when they realized my phone order was to the wrong store they did sll the footwork of cancelling my original order and getting a new pie in the oven. It's a Chicagoish style pie, but the best I have had. Not doughy and top cheese that keeps toppings from sliding off. They may make me rethink my distrust of "Chicago style" pizza. +1 for having olives with flavor (kalamata) for people who actually like olives. read more

Since i am 50+ i am being very cautious about being outside during these times. I was looking around and saw that i never try this place out. Taking my mother out for groceries in Bothell this weekend. I was lamenting to her that I have been craving pizza, but I don't have any good pizza places local to me. I have heard good things about Sparta's, from friends and coworkers, so we decided to get lunch there. All I can say is wow, by far the best pizza I have had since I can remember. We ordered a large, with the intent to each eat a few slices, and take leftovers home. We ended up eating the entire pizza, and nearly got into a fistfight over the last slice. Definitely my new favorite pizza place, and I don't think I will have to do much convincing with my mum the next time I take her out for groceries in Bothell. read more

Great Pizza.......TERRIBLE service, time and time again. I think I need to share that each and every time I have been in to dine or have picked up my order at the Bothell Sparta's, I have been treated rudely. Staff don't acknowledge my presence, I've been passed by and disregarded, I am spoken to without any sincerity or appreciation for my business and actually am left feeling like I've been a nuisance. Just recently I was the only one to say "thank you" for our pizza verses being thanked for our business and was treated as though they were irritated with me during payment. What is up with their pizza?! It has this crispy top that I have never had before. They say that they are the "best pizza in the universe", but I eat A LOT of pizza everywhere I travel. I love pizza and have to give it up to this place as being in my Top 10 best places for pizza. I was so impressed that I went twice in one day. It's the danish cheese that makes this place special. The creamy texture and somewhat sharp finish really give a unique taste to their pies. This cheese is always perfectly brown on top. The crust is on the thicker side, but not too much so and crisp which is what I like. I recommend their greek style za with a pesto sauce complete with artichoke hearts. They have a decent standard pizza shop salad but again it is elevated when topped with that amazing danish cheese! I think I could live off that cheese most definately! It's kinda like bacon and makes everything taste better! I haven't bridged out to any of their pasta options as of yet but am sure they have to be delicious considering a major part of any pasta is the cheese and I've already stated how good theirs is! Really though, as another reviewer wrote, this is a Bothell classic and considering most of my family lives there, we frequent this place. This place reminds me a lot of the Midwest: warm and home-y vibes + tasty, tasty comfort food. My friend recommended their pizza, so I checked it out late one Sunday. Parking and getting a table was a cinch. The décor is warm and inviting with cute pizza drawings along the walls from families who have passed through. The menu has a lot of pasta dishes for non-pizza goers and I'd bet that they're nice and hearty based on the descriptions. Pasta smothered in sauce and cheese on a winter WA day, please! As for the pizza, it was the bomb. Oh so cheese-y and gooey. The crust and cheese are golden from the oven. I like that toppings were under the thick layer of cheese, again reminding me of the Midwest. Both the crust and cheese are perfectly thick! And the flavor is great. No frills pizza here. I have eaten here probably 20 times, and it is my all-time favorite Pizza. With Pizza being my favorite food, that must mean this is my favorite place of all time. The pepperoni and the spicy pepperonit are both fantastic. I have had Pizza at probably 40+ places and nowhere competes with this place. I recently began dieting, and lost 40-50lbs. I've been coming here for years and love this place. The pasta is well-prepared, and loaded with goodies like meat, and cheese. It comes with soup or salad, and a big chunk of crispy, greasy-good garlic bread. I'm not a big fan of salads, but Sparta's makes a great one; crisp, fresh, with lots of dressing, olives, and their incredible danish cheese. The pizza compares favorably to most places in the area. It's one of my favorites, due to the generous layer of aforementioned cheese, plus the fact that they do a decent job with the crust---something even most 'premium' places usually neglect. Toppings aren't exactly skimpy, but not super generous either. Oh yeah. Lots of different topping options, including some non-traditional. Sandwiches are hit and miss. The 'create your own' sub sandwich is the best value on the menu, hands-down. It's toasted and comes with cheese plus one topping (add-ons for a minimal extra charge). Best of all, you can get a generous side-salad for a mere extra dollar. Cost is $10 or less, unless you go WAY overboard with the toppings. My one complaint is the uninspiring sub bread. A friend tried the gyro and was unimpressed. The cost is generally what you would expect for a typical family-style Italian joint. Yet the portions are good, as is the service (good on drink refills and such). read more

Went last night with the hubby, son DIL and grandkids. I had the "meatball" sandwich hubby had the spaghetti and meatballs My sandwich was pretty much meatless, I think they must use a meat paste or something and spread a little layer on the bread, no meat taste whatsoever and when I opened the sandwich I did not see any meat, just some brown color. Hubby said the meatballs on the spaghetti were tasteless, looked like they were more filler than meat. There pizza is good, stick to that maybe if you want a decent meal. My fiance and I were in the mood for pasta so we decided to check this place out and skip on the Spaghetti Factory... we pulled up to the restaurant and noticed it kind of looked like a diner. We were confused but very excited to try it! When we walked in we saw all the delicious pizza and plates on everyone's table. The hostess was a bit rude but we went with it since it seemed they were short staffed. Our waitress was a middle aged woman who was also the manager. She was semi-friendly. Anywho, I decided to go with the low carb chicken casserole ($11.25) and my fiance ordered the baked canneloni ($14.40). What I received... was a casserole dish... inside was marinara mixed with SMALL cubes of chicken, even smaller cubes of cheese with bits (pieces) of onions and bell peppers. It was literally all marinara with cheese baked on top. I hated each time I spooned for more marinara. I could not believe I was paying about $12 for a bowl of marinara. My fiance received a plate that almost looked exactly like mine except underneath the cheese, there was spinach and cheese stuffed canneloni (kind of similar to ravioli). The canneloni was pretty damn good, but it was bathed in marinara sauce that was stronger than mine and did not contain vegetables. This plate was almost $15 and totally not worth the amount. During our visit, I ordered a drink. My waitress (the manager) never once asked us for refills. Instead, we often found her sitting in booths/tables with other customers across from us, chatting. Meanwhile, the busboy was going around refilling drinks and acting more of a waiter than the manager. We saw the busboy busting his ass while chatty Kathy laughed instead of waiting her tables. The only time she came to tend us is when we asked for the check. I'm not sure why she ignored us the entire time, but this was not acceptable. I left the busboy a generous tip but have a feeling the manager kept it for herself. I will not be returning to this place. read more

Coming from the east coast, its been hard to find a great pizza place around the Kirkland area but after tasting this pizza I can easily say I have a new "go-to" location. The average large pizza will run you about 25$ if you want any toppings on it and even though its pricey, once in a while I think its deff worth it. Any combination of toppings that we have tried has been amazing, especially with the thick layer of cheese they put on top. Personal Recommendation; The garlic chicken, red onion, feta cheese and pineapple pizza. (I believe its #34 on the pizza menu) . Sounds weird but tastes like a slice of heaven. Can't wait to order again from them soon. read more
