I generally would like get a dinner & a movie after treatment like this. Or at least a reach around with a promise to call. One tiny, rubbery piece of chicken with the chicken Parmesan & maybe a cup of spaghetti for $20. It also included a literal cup of soup. Murky chicken broth that's supposed to pass for soup, I guess since it's liquid it counts. Looks & tastes more like dishwater. I'm pretty sure everything is going to come back to haunt me. Craving pizza? Silly question. Sparta's is the place to go to soothe the craving! It's definitely a more family-like environment and perfect for kids sports team parties or birthday parties! Love the staff at Sparta's. Everyone was super helpful and made sure I was taken care of. Ordered a Sparta salad, which was a little dull/cheaply made. Could use some spicing up. This place is fantastic. The sandwiches are great and the Alfredo is spectacular. More than Anything is the delicious danish cheese that they pile on the pizza. We love this place. Sparta's costs too much, it does. But I guess that's only to be expected, it's still very good food, and you get it in short order, and it's hot, and the shop is clean, and they have a fireplace. In a city with nothing much in it but a bunch of bars, and those that have food having no more than a tiny plate for way too much, if you do have a wad to eat out on, choose Sparta's. At least you get a lot of food for the high price, and also at least it actually tastes good. read more

6/27/19 The décor is dated but clean (minus the huge smudge on the window from some little hand). The staff is really, super friendly. The pizza is AMAZING! Ooey-gooey, super-duper cheesy goodness. I just got a small pepperoni and it was the perfect size so I didn't need to take leftovers with us. They have a children's menu and our boy got a sausage pizza. He ate the entire thing! There is usually a pile of crusts left behind but he cleaned his plate. The menu had tons of pizza choices and a lot of pasta selections. I'd love to try the chicken parm on our next trip. One of the best finds in a long time. My fiancé and I had dinner at Spartas after we set up her vintage and antique shop in Bothell. We saw it pop up on the app and decided to give it a try. We ordered the Greek Pizza, vegetables were great, the sauce was a greenish pesto mixture. Spartas is a small family friendly pizza and pasta restaurant with two locations, Lynnwood and Bothell. Both are excellent, though we favor Bothell. Pizza is built of high quality ingredients applied generously. Bring an appetite, still take some pizza home. The pasta dishes are my favorites, I've tried most and really liked them all. Simple salads and thick garlic bread that accompany the pasta meals are also very good, the blue cheese dressing is deliciously garlicky. Ok, I'm probably going to get hate emails for this one, but it has to be done. This was the worst meal I've had in a really long time, and trust me, I really wanted to like this local establishment. I didn't care that the interior was really bad, and the one star had nothing to do with the child having a full-blown screaming tantrum for at least 10 minutes of our dinner there. We had to stand around and wait, while servers and kitchen staff hurried by us, without any acknowledgement. It seemed like most of the restaurant was staffed by high school students. That was ok, because we finally got seated and our orders were taken right away, and for the most part the staff as a whole was attentive and friendly. I was excited to find the salads were included with our meal. They weren't inedible, but all the salad consists of is a big pile of watery, chopped iceberg lettuce, with shredded danish cheese, black olives, and choice of dressing. I still munched at it, and was actually surprised that the cheese didn't have more flavor. It was really mild, similar to mozzarella. I decided to try the eggplant parm. It sat on a bed of spaghetti with sauce, with two thick rounds of breaded eggplant, and melted danish cheese. It was the most bland tasting dish I think I have ever had. The sauce had no flavor, the noodles were overcooked and tasteless. The eggplant was so chewy and tough, it was hard to cut. The cheese was nicely browned, but really didn't add much flavor. I wish I could describe the sauce better. It looked normal, but it had literally no taste. It wasn't watery, but tasted watered down. My fiance had the tortellini. I tried them and they were ok. They were basic pre-frozen tortellini topped with meat sauce. I guess they had more flavor than mine, but not much. We both felt the portion size was rather small. Both entrees came with a greasy slice of toasted bread. I wouldn't call it garlic bread, because there was no seasoning or cheese on it, but it had a slight garlic essence. I also got a cheap glass of Lambrusco. I love me some cheap Italian wine with basic Italian food. It was only $4 and the best thing that entered my mouth. Our waitress gave us the wrong bill, but I didn't really care about that. I was just bummed the food was so bland. I'm not sure how this place has stayed open this long, but seems to have a lot of backing from the local Bothell community, which I think is great. The pizzas must be really good from here, because I can't imagine people really come here for the pasta. I probably won't ever bother to come back to try the pizza, even though I could walk to this place from my house. Bummer. read more

The service here was great; Mike has been working at Sparta's for 11 years and his attitude and knowledge made me want to come back. He had fun with the kids and gave me good advice about which soup and entree to choose. The seven year old got the kids' cheese pizza and apple juice; the 12 year old got the tri-color cheese tortellini with alfredo sauce, and I got the chicken parm (my standard try-out-an-Italian-restaurant meal). We both got their homemade vegetable tortellini soup. The soup was excellent. Served super-hot, it was tasty and obviously homemade. Yum! The vegetables in the chicken broth were tender but fresh and the tortellini were both plentiful and al dente. The pizza looked good; it was incredibly cheesy and that's not going to disappoint any kids. The tri-color tortellini got mixed reviews. The pasta was good, apparently, but the alfredo sauce had chunks of fresh (but cooked) garlic in it which she didn't like. The meal was served with a giant piece of cheese toast. The chicken parm was a giant slab of tender meat cooked with nice homemade red sauce and lots of melted cheese. It was more garlicky than normal, so be prepared. It came with a huge side of spaghetti and marinara, which was, you guessed it, a bit on the garlicky side, but hey, major points for actually homemade. I like it that way but your kids might not! It also came with a slab of garlic/cheese toast, pretty much wasted on me with so much food on the table. All the food was brought to us blazing hot, which I really appreciate. I get tired of lukewarm food! There were limes for the Diet Coke (and no attitude about it at all) :-) and the prices were reasonable. I'll have to try their meat lasagna next time before I decide that this place is a real contender to Frankie's. I did notice a pale and iceburg-y salad on another table; not my speed, but I'm not big on salads anyway. The pizza that some adults ordered looked excellent, though their standard crust seems to be a bit thicker than what I like. I forgot to check the restrooms, but the rest of the restaurant was pleasant and clean, so I'm guessing that they will be at least reasonable. read more

This is one of the WORST experiences I've had in a restaurant. My boyfriend and I came in to just grab a glass of wine and catch up. We drove by Sparta's and I told him to turn around cause that place would be perfect. Well.... When we entered the owner/manager (not sure who she was, but an older lady with glasses and short hair) walked right past out without a hello or welcome. I found this odd since she made eye contact with us. She came back and sat us. She didn't say much, and was VERY cold. This made my boyfriend and i really uncomfortable. We decided to have a glass of wine and not eat because we had a large lunch already. Apparently this wasn't acceptable to her. She was so friendly to all the other guests but us. She made it very clear we were not welcome to just have a glass of wine, she would walk by and glare at us and never asked if we wanted anything. We decided to order some bread since this woman made us so uncomfortable. Our waitress was really nice and left to put the order in. About 5 mins later the owner came by and THREW the plate at us, it slid to us across the table. I said thank you and she swung around and left. Not even a smile or you're welcome. The bread was just a slice with garlic butter, no cheese or anything. $1.50. I have never EVER had this type of treatment. I was speechless. If they don't want people grabbing a glass of wine, then they should have it written on their wine list that we must order food. The experience was so bad that my boyfriend and I could barely talk about anything else. I will NEVER come back here. Maybe its because my boyfriend and I are in our 20s? We recently had lunch for fourteen at Sparta. It was a weekday, and we were curious about the universe's best pizza. Our entire group agreed, the pizza was excellent. I had the gluten-free crust and it was maybe #2 of the GF pizzas I've had. Even the non celiac members of our party loved it. Called and reordered pizza and went to pay and the manager insisted on replacing it when I drove in to pick up a new one for the fam!! I've lived in the area for almost 40 years, and my family continues to claim Sparta's Pizza as the best pizza in the world! The cheese is a perfect blend of crispy on the top and creamy underneath. The crust is a medium thickness with a crispy and soft combination-texture. They are consistent with the recipe. Our go-to is Hawaiian pizza with their handmade feta and ranch dressing as dipping sauces. This is the best pizza on the West Coast! It reminds me of the deep dish pizza that I had in Chicago! The crust is perfect, crunchy, just a hint of sweetness. I think this place has a valid claim to the best pizza, because it was so good, I ordered the next night too! I'll put these guys in the category of better than average Seattle area pizza. As I've said previously, Seattle has turned into a pretty solid Pizza town so the competition is getting more stiff but these guys make a decent crust and have good toppings. I personally feel like they put an overwhelming amount of cheese on their pies but that is entirely subjective. My one gripe is that I've eaten here many times and my pizza is often a little burned. I actually prefer it to be cooked a little longer to make sure the crust is crispy but chewy but this place comes back blackened more often than they should. Other than that, the salads and other options are good as well and they have two locations which is convenient. You should check them out and see what you think, particularly if you have an insane love of cheese. I am a pretty big cheese lover but this is a little too much at once read more

What an amazing place!!! We were wondering where to eat and we ended up at Sparta's in Bothell. The food was incredible but the service was superb!! Andrake was simply amazing. He is one of the best waiters that we have ever had and we had been to some very nice restaurants. Want some really good Italian food? Want to be treated like a million dollars?
