We booked a three bedroom room (they only have one available). It had a king bed in one room, bunk beds in another, and then a living room with a pull out couch that works as the third bedroom. The space connecting everything is the kitchen. This room is perfect for a bigger family or anyone wanting extra space. This is a remodeled motel and is off a busy road. If you are sensitive to noise that could be a concern, but it wasn't bad when we stayed. I appreciated the quality of the room for the price paid. The bathrooms were nice as well. They need black out curtains as the lights from the parking lot can be annoying for light sleepers. I ended up hanging a blanket (not easy to do) to block out the light. All staff were friendly. They also have a food truck to order breakfast. I would order ahead of time! It was tasty. Check in and out were easy!

There are a few positives: the price point is great, it's dog‑friendly, and being able to park right outside the door is genuinely convenient. Unfortunately, the stay fell short where it matters most. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable, the pillows were old and completely flat, and the walls were thin enough that we heard everything around us. We also always check around the mattress and headboard when we travel, and there was a noticeable amount of debris between the mattress and box spring, which didn't give us confidence in the cleanliness. On top of that, whatever detergent was used on the bedding caused me severe allergic reaction, which made it impossible to continue our stay. The property looks like it's been redecorated, but the essentials of cleanliness, comfort, and overall sleep quality just aren't there. We ended up leaving after the first night despite paying for two. Overall a disappointing experience.

This is a great hotel for the price. I most offer a disclaimer and say this would be a 5-star…read morerating, but it just doesn't feel right since hotels already have a rating system and this was not on 5-star standards, but was a 4-star for a 3-star price! I have stayed here once for business and already booked three separate weeks in December. As a point of reference, I will be comparing this hotel to a few different Hampton Inns I have stayed at. They are both in the same price range, both owned by a major hotel chain and both offer free breakfast. The lobby is by far the nicest out of any hotel I have stayed in for it's price range. There is a huge flatscreen located to the side of the front desk near the elevators that continually shows news and weather updates. This is great for a quick glance on the way out to see how the weather is going to be. This is by far the best free breakfast I have had. They have multiple options available, and they are not just cereal. They have the ability to make waffles, something that seems standard now in a free hotel breakfast. I was shocked to see they also offered those microwaveable breakfast sandwiches. They had 5 different varieties to choose from, so if you choose one of every day of the week. They also had an assortment of fruits and yogurt. My favorite by far was the prepackaged fruit. They had Del-Monte grapefruit with no sugar added, which means minimal sugar. I am a huge grapefruit fan so I approved! Next, hallways leading to the rooms are nice as well. They do not have the same boring carpet that every hotel has. I specifically remember the black and florescent green carpet. When you remember carpet, the hotel must have been impressive. The room itself was pretty standard I feel. They had nice 32in LG flatscreens in every room. One thing many hotels surprisingly don't offer is high definition channels for all of those nice TV's they have. The Fairfield Inn is the exception. I was shocked, yet again! (See the common theme?) This hotel won me over when I went to check the bathroom and notice the shower was the size of a normal bathtub. Again, shocked! The shower had a large glass door too, which really gave it a futuristic look. The only drawback was the "U" shaped handle on the outside was broke on the top. (another reason to justify a non 5-star rating) The bathroom countertops were completely granite. Another shock was the Pantene Pro-V shampoo and conditioner. Name brand toiletries in this type of hotel was completely unexpected. Clearly one of the best features of this hotel was the location in relation to the Notre Dame campus. I am not a fan, but it was pretty cool to see the stadium across the street out of my window. Also, right next to the hotel is Eddy Street commons with a few bar and dining options. Overall, this hotel was great. If you are going to be there for an extended period of time, get the long-stay studio. The fridge and microwave are worth it!

Great location just across the street from University of Notre Dame (you can see the football stadium from the motel and walk over there). There is also a mixed-use, retail/residential development next door (some stores open...others still in the process of opening), which is handy if you want to grab some quick take-out burgers, pizza, or tacos. This development also has a nice Notre Dame bookstore with a small coffee shop...so you can walk over and pick up a T-shirt or ice tea. We booked one of the small suites, which had a nice little sitting area with a sofa bed, chair, and flat-screen television. There was a second flat-screen TV in the sleeping area. Other nice amenities included free wireless Internet ($5 per day for higher speed wireless, although the free wireless worked just fine for us), free parking, and a decent breakfast with the room. The common areas were attractive, spacious, and had wireless access as well. The room decor was sleek and modern--a good bit nicer than your standard chain motel decor. The pool was a bit small, but I appreciated the fact that I didn't have to schlep through the lobby in my swimsuit to get to it. This motel is right on a main road, but it was surprisingly quiet in the room. Traffic noise was not an issue...and we really heard very little of the heavy rain and thunderstorms they had in the area during our stay.

Both cabins we've stayed in offer wall units and one also had a ceiling fan. I think adding ceiling fans to all units would be very beneficial, as well as considering installing central AC. They do offer outdoor seating areas and grills. As well as beach chairs. We definitely love the private beach access and the close proximity to the Whistle Shop and other local shops. Unfortunately due to the climbing age of some of the family and the lack of AC, we will be looking elsewhere next year.

We were a little hesitant because of past reviews on this site (specifically the unit having a smell) but after reviewing the site and talking to the Firefly, we learned the unit was recently purchased by new owners and completely renovated, so we decided to go for it. We we SO happy we did, our summer getaway could not have been better. The unit was pristine, you can tell the couch and bed were new and they were actually comfortable (which is a big deal for me, I am typically really critical of rental unit furniture and I hate having to use it when I am away from home). But I felt really good about using these and I slept very well. The bathroom was lovely, it also felt very clean and newly finished. The kitchen was a little tight but it was ideal for making food to avoid having to go out. I think my absolute favorite part of this cottage was the screened-in porch. Waking up early and getting to listen to the woods and the waves in a protected cove surrounded by tall ferns was magical. I even was lucky enough to see a few fawns! Oh, and there was no smell. I will be coming back!

The bathroom itself wasn't as clean as I expected. There was a ton of soap scum/ hard water buildup on the shower pan. A positive is that the hotel uses Dove body wash and shampoo which is high quality and smells nice. There's some options for breakfast but the toaster was broken. The staff was friendly. There's many other hotels in Elkhart so I don't think I'll be back to this one.

The breakfast was pretty good and they had bacon which we never get at any hotel we stay in (we stay in many hotels across many states every year for dog events). You can also make your own waffles. They have free coffee, juice, etc. as well. We loved everything about this hotel except I felt the beds were hard and the DOG FEE is astronomical. For only 1 night the dog fee was $80 ($75+$5 tax) and I had to sign a form stating dogs were NOT allowed on any furniture OR on the beds. I don't allow the dogs on the couches and chairs anyway but the beds? What exactly is the $80 fee for then? A few dog hairs on the floor is all there was when we left. We had to bring the dog crates up for them to sleep in all night. We will not be returning if we have dogs with us. If you're going to charge $80 for a 1 night dog fee, at least you can allow them to sleep on top of the bed. Otherwise, the rooms are super cute decorated with the Notre Dame theme and it's right across the street from the University.

Too much water escapes and gets on the floor. The blinds and microwave need cleaning - desperately. Hopefully, that will get done. Sleeping at night was great because it was very quiet. You get extra privacy with the separate entrance and building, as opposed to other B&Bs where you're in a central house. Bill's and the other cabin are totally free standing, the other units are all one long building with separate outdoor entrances. The main lobby/ house area is a few steps away and where breakfast is served as well as where you can grab soda or bottled water at any hour. There's also a lot of local brochures and an awesome DVD collection. We stayed over the rainiest weekend of all time. The cabin was cozy and we certainly enjoyed that amazing DVD collection- something for everyone. There is wifi which seemed a tad slow, but given the location and weather I was not surprised by that. The cabin stayed toasty even though we didn't turn up the thermostat or light the wood stove. The hot tub was quite nice for an evening when it finally stopped raining for an hour. Bill's Cabin is totally adorable in its rustic décor, and we absolutely loved the cat theme too! We were also told the cabins are pet friendly. Breakfast in the morning is great- pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit (HUGE honey crisp apples!!), juice, coffee. Great company with other guests and the owner, AJ. When we arrived the first night (around 8pm due to crazy weather), AJ was waiting and ready to give us a little tour. He even directed us to some local restaurants that would still be serving dinner. Location is a short drive to all the tourist locations and just a couple blocks from the lake. While I'm usually very frugal, I felt White Rabbit Inn was well worth the expense and we plan to come back for our first anniversary.
