Wanted some late night food in Petaluma and this place was perfect. Was hard to choose what we wanted because everything sounded soooo good. Ended up choosing the fried chicken with goat cheese mashed potatoes and bacon jam. Wow SO DELICIOUS!! Our server Danny was very helpful and answered all of our questions. My husband and I were looking for something new and after reading some good reviews we went! It was really nice! Not too busy, friendly waiter and awesome food. The lobster mac was really as awesome as described. We had some other items as well and it was all very good! When we came back a 2nd time it was much busier (great for them!) but the feel was much different. Food was still good but I didn't like being cramped and having a conversation without the people next to me hearing every word and chiming in when they felt like it. We went to go back a 3rd time and the place was packed and I didn't feel like being cramped in the corner again amongst everyone's loud conversations so we left and went elsewhere. I really want to like the place and loved the food, but I wish their location was better and had more elbow room. I guess if I want lobster mac it will be take out! read more

We really enjoyed our dinner at Speakeasy tonight. The service was good. Our meal was not rushed to allow us time to really taste the food. We ordered spinach salad with goat cheese and dried cherries, empanadas, sweet and spicy pork belly, escargot with crimini mushrooms, croque madam and Nutella bread pudding. All the plates were good. My favorite starter plate was the pork belly. My husband liked the empanadas and croque madam. He also enjoyed his Zinfindel wine. It was relaxing to sit outside on the patio. The guitar trio provided great background music for our meal. We'll definitely return to Speakeasy in the near future for another meal. read more

A nice location for people watching and a relaxed vibe are apparent walking in. The menu is creative but uneven in its preparation (two of the three veggie tacos were great, the third was drowned in barbecue sauce, or the salad was great but the pannini sort of thrown together). While service was fine, I felt a bit like we were just being tolerated by our waitress. Good ingredients and a solid menu carry the day here, but definitely room to improve. read more

The food itself is good. We shared a variety of dishes, and each one was great. The spare ribs and polenta dish, in particular, was exceptional. My reservations about Speakeasy come from the service and ambiance. The service was nonchalant. Once we were seated, the waitress came by to casually ask us what we'd like. Outside of dropping off our order, we didn't really see her again, which made it difficult to order more drinks and water. Everything was soooo good! I had the salmon and it was the best I have had...perfectly paired with Brussels sprouts. The edamame hummus and cheese plates were so delicious as well. Shrimp creole was good. Service was a bit slow, but I'm from SoCal and I think we tend to do things more quickly than the seemingly relaxed people in Petaluma. Where do I even start?!?! We were a huge party and I have to say, it's a pretty small place. Service was great! The lobster Mac & Cheese was to DIE for! The chicken, minus the pork and bacon sauce was fabulous ! The veggie burger and veggie tacos were also a huge hit! Wine was OK, not great. They don't have a really big wine selection. The Speakeasy creates a romantic setting in the heart of downtown Petaluma. Drink and dine at midnight.....I love to eat late on a Friday or Saturday. I recommend the taco trio. It's delicious. read more

yeah the portions are a bit small, but I didn't leave hungry. But you will probably need to do a appetizer/starter, entree and dessert to do it, which I did and enjoyed them all. We had a early dinner so there was hardly anyone there, but we understand it is a great late night spot, and can get quite busy. There is a patio area but we ate inside as it was a bit chilly and windy. Everything we had was very tasty and our server was great. She was very nice and very attentive and recommended the Della Fattoria around the corner for our breakfast which we did and really liked as well. Just had brunch and mimosas. It took me 20 minutes to decide what to eat because everything looked SOOOO GOOD. Our server was Porter, and he was AWESOME. Wow, so disappointed by our experience--other than the service, which was fine. We've eaten at the Speakeasy in Novato (in Ignacio) a number of times, and the food there is reliably awesome. When we stopped into the Petaluma location tonight after a movie, we expected a great late-evening bite. My husband's burger was dry and uninspired, and his French fries were undercooked in the middle. My pork belly tacos were kinda depressing: dry, jerky-like nuggets of pork belly with an overly sweet sauce, and big chunks of dry, plain cabbage. At the Novato Speakeasy, the pork belly tacos are memorably good--they're juicy and tender and loaded with flavor. It's like the tacos in the Petaluma location are from another planet. I really don't understand all the glowing reviews of the Petaluma location, unless we just happened in on a *really* off night. The food is just not very good. read more

Amazing. We were a large group (16people) that was running late. Our server Gus was very accommodating and kind about it, our order was taken correctly and he was very attentive despite them being pretty busy.
