My friends and I had such a wonderful afternoon doing tea time at Special Effects! Each tea set was unique and so special, we loved admiring everyone's different designs. We got 2 of the treat towers for our group of 8 and loved every one of the treats. The savory sandwiches, scones, and various cookies were delicious, and we got to try different flavors of hot and iced teas! We also loved the rosemary infused water. First off the owner is very kind and arranged for our party of 9 to sit at a beautiful set table outside in the garden. The tea spread is delectable. My personal favorites are the cucumber sandwiches and the scones. They are outstanding. I enjoyed the rose tea and I'm not crazy about rose flavored anything but It was light and not too perfumey. The iced teas are also refreshing. We were able to take some lovely photos and really have a lovely tea experience. My kids had a special day! This review is only for the tea portion of the business. My best friend and I randomly discovered this place based on the cart they had outside advertising their teas and treats. This place really has a fantastic charm to it and it's definitely a hidden gem of Greenport! We walked in and were seated right away. I ordered the banana bread and a cherry blossom green tea. My best friend ordered a variety of macarons and some tea as well. When I tell you that it was the best banana bread I had ever tasted in my life, I am NOT exaggerating! It was so fresh and so delicious!! The chocolate chips definitely added that extra touch of goodness! The decor is also something to write home about. It's so cute yet fancy and quaint at the same time. The entire place is just lovely! The service was excellent as well! The woman who served us was so personable, patient and above all helpful. This review is for the Speal*Tea* side of the salon. I brought my mom here on our day trip and I am so glad we chose this spot for their tea service. This whole establishment is super cute, I didn't know about their other services until I got there but I will definitely come back here to check them out in the future. The host/waitress was incredibly warm, welcoming and friendly! This place was beautiful, and I loved the attention to details that went into the whole place- from the decor to the tea sets, cups, utensils etc... My mom and I loved the entire tea service- from the tes, to the sandwiches and the delicious desserts. It's a bit of a small spot so I suggest making a reservation to be safe. I think this would be a great spot in the summer as well, they had a very cute outdoor area set up as well. Amazing little gem. I had the best pistachio macaron I've ever had. Pistachio is my favorite macaron so this place made a pretty good first impression on me. The tea was remarkable as well. My bestie had the banana bread which was the best I've ever had so rich and moist. It was honestly the cutest little tea place ever. It brought out or inner child in us with the tea cups. Recently came here on my visit to the north fork, I made a reservation prior & arrived earlier than my resy time & they had no problem seating us earlier. Super small & cozy tea area with about 4-5 tables. I wasn't aware that it was also a salon & spa as it looks like a house/bed&breakfast from the outside. Our waitress was super nice & accommodating especially since I had my babies with me & she was super nice & attentive to my 3 year old daughter. Being that I am a fan of Rose flavored anything I came for the rose latte which was amazing but unfortunately they ran out of rose extract & I wasn't able to order more or try anything else that was rose flavored. Super disappointing. My daughter had the lavender lemonade which good not too sweet & refreshing. We ended up getting 1 of each of the afternoon teas (simple & classic) as you have to order 1 per person. (Standard afternoon tea rule). The cucumber sandwiches were good as I never eat them but these were tasty. My daughter even enjoyed them. I ended tea with a Chatty Cathy which was soooo good & ordered some macarons for my daughter which were additional. Definitely recommend! 10/10. read more

Went there for afternoon tea for my birthday w/ my son & husband. Friendly staff seated us right away (I had made a reservation just in case). The tea room is decorated in a very soft feminine, English way. I adored the little bird side plates and little glass bird on the window where we sat! We had the simple tea menu with scones, cookies and finger sandwiches. The sandwiches and raspberry jam cookies were our favorites! I had the lavender tea & my husband had another type (forgot) and they were delicious, didn't want our teapots to end! It was hot that day though, so our 12 yr old opted for the lavender lemonade and really enjoyed it! Our server was very kind, and had a good eye for detail. I personally wish the scones were smaller, in England they aren't that big. They should also give more cream and butter to serve with them. Also, wish instead of 2 cookie choices, maybe a chocolate or truffle, just to break up all the pastry, shortbread-like, starch tastes going on. I really enjoyed the first time I went because the simple tea was excellent and the service good. The second time I had seen an advertisement for a special cake, and wanted it for my birthday. I make the arrangements to visit and have that cake served for my birthday. When I arrived, they didn't have it, telling me it is only on another day of the week. Why she did not tell me that when I specifically mentioned I wanted the cake and the tea afternoon on a certain day- it is my birthday, after all, how could I get it wrong? is beyond me. I had to come back the next day after having the afternoon tea to pick up the cake. There was never an apology even. I highly recommend the tea. A relative and I came to the tea shop on a fall Sunday. The shop was somewhat busy. There was only one server. They were amazing. Explained what to expect from the different menu options. Very patient. Accommodated my food allergies with alternative menu items where possible without being asked. the older woman (mother), is incredibly rude, went there w/ my daughter , we walk in - she looks at us , turns around, walks away and never came back. that's the 2nd time this woman has been rude to me and my family. we stopped in for a fresh ice T on a hot walk around town, we went out of our way to drop in. I went there for the tea service not the spa services so my review focuses on the former. It is a lovely place. The outdoor seating is really nice and peaceful and shaded. Things start off with a lightly flavored water. The menu is simple, either tiered trays or add ons. The food and teas are fresh and delicious and everything I had was good. Here are the negatives. Expect to be gouged. Seriously gouged. A $32 tier option is really just a small sampler. A bite of each described item. The add ons require you to order at least one tiered tray. The hummus add on was 12 dollars- delicious and fresh but a lot of hummus and maybe three stalks of celery and 3 stalks of cut up red pepper. Not enough vegetables. Also don't expect substitutions, those all cost extra- approximately $5 for each tier substitution. Now let's talk tea. The first pot or iced tea you order is included, but every extra refill costs an extra $5 dollars. So in the end we spent $112 dollars (pre tip) on food for two adults and one ten year old. My five year old had two slivers of zucchini bread for 3 dollars. Yes this was lunch, no- the tea didn't have alcohol. Service was good but it was for my daughter's graduation from elementary school. The server acknowledge this but nothing special was brought. All prices were disclosed so no surprises but that almost made it worse since I knew I was getting gouged and it was happening in real time.
