Emerald dress caught my eye in the window so I had to look inside. I was first greet by two small barking dogs as I walked in. I knelled down and pet them and a woman greeted me next. Looking for a somewhat formal gown for an upcoming wedding and she guided to their small section. It isn't a large section but they have a nice variety of discounted couture dresses. The repeat customers that come here are friendly and hilarious. Sizes run from xs/2 to 24+ for women and every size possible for men. If something doesn't fit - within a few days they can complete in house alterations. To wrap it up they have higher end accessories to set off your special looks. Took my girlfriend here to buy a dress for her friends wedding. They had her size, and even though it wasn't a perfect fit, the owners refit it to her exact measurements. The old man in the chair was hilarious and I don't see where people get the "rudeness" I've read about on here from. Even if he was, it's not about how i'm treated, but making my girlfriend look beautiful at such a good price that concerns me! Never tried the dress on myself, but she says it was a perfect fit after alterations and she loves it! read more

Warning!!! This is not a good place to do business. I went there looking for mother of the groom dresses and their inventory is so outdated and out of touch it's not funny. Man that was working there was so rude! He kept showing me dresses that were so awful under the guise that they were expensive. Also, they were making up prices as we went along. There were 2 prices on the tags then I was told there is additional discounts. I asked how do I know the price, they said I had to ask them! false and misleading. Hmmm Really! He wouldn't even let me try on any dresses because the bride wasn't with me and I wasn't going to buy anything that day. DO NOT SHOP HERE! My wife needed a dress for our daughter's wedding. We had heard word about this store where the guy that runs it used to be a wheeler and dealer in Palm Beach. When we showed up, we were pleasantly surprised that these high end dresses were now in West Palm Beach and sharply discounted. What shocked us was that these clothes were new and current fashion. The old guy lived up to his reputation of wheeling and dealing us, but he made sure we were getting exactly what we wanted for our only daughter's wedding. The patronizing audacity that the store owner has makes me rather pay double elsewhere. I have never been treated with more disrespect in my life. When I said I wanted to have my fiancé's opinion he degraded and condescended the fact that I even cared about my future husband's opinion. Disgusting. No professionalism, no service, no manners. Let me start by saying, Special Occasions is Amazing!! My son's wedding was November 8 th, 2014, I knew this for a year in advance, but I kept thinking I had plenty of time, I'll lose a few pounds and I guess I just wasn't sure what I wanted to wear, after all, I'm the Mother of the Groom, google that and it's all about the Mother of the Bride. Planned a day to dress shop with my best friend and critic, we had a whole day planned to go from shop to shop from West Palm to Boca. My friend recommended Special Occasions as she had heard much positive feedback on their quality and prices from friends. We found the shop and at first glance, we were skeptical. Then they asked what I was looking for, occasion, location, color, they pulled out 5 beautiful gowns. When I put on the second one, even though it needed a good bit of alterations, they knew it, my friend teared up and I cried! They had chosen it, and yes, the man that another review said was rude, was at first, brusque, but, he is honest and has an eye for fashion, and just the nicest person ever and truly cares that a lady walks out with a dress that people will not just say, I love that dress, but they will say, you are beautiful in that dress!! There were two prices on the dress, he made me a great deal that included alterations with a wedding 3 weeks away. The alteration specialist was present, did the measurements, pinning on the spot. When I went 2 weeks later to pick up the dress, it fit like I had it custom made for me, they then found the most spectacular necklace and earrings to match and I found my Rehearsal dinner dress! It needed a small alteration and they had it done perfectly In less than a week! I also received such a great deal, the service and helpfulness was just impeccable. Give Special Occasions a chance, most customers only post reviews if they are unhappy, happy customers just forget to do so. I will be returning to Special Occasions many more times! Owner is discourteous, some sales people too aggressive. If you are diligent and search long and hard you may find an acceptable garment . Now the haggling begins -- owner will quote a price but the sales check ends up with an inflated rate and don't fall for owners request for a check to be made out to cash with the real price given to you on a gift card. I would give this a negative 10. I have never been so insulted in my life. I had a terrible experience here. After trying to return a purchase I was told They have a no return policy but I could exchange. Nothing on my receipt said no returns and I looked around and did not see any signs. I absolutely agree with the first reviewer. My husband and I were vacationing in West Palm this spring when I discovered the shop. I was looking for a dress for a nephew's wedding this summer. I found one I liked but in addition to hemming, it needed to be altered in the shoulders and had beads missing in the back. Donna, (the owner's mother, per the web) assured me it would all be taken care of by their tailors (for additional fees, of course) and shipped to me in time for my event. Because I could not return for another fitting, she even suggested that she would pay my local tailor's charges should the dress need additional altering after I received it. She asked me to list my e-mail address on the bill of sale so the shop could notify me when it was shipped and provide the tracking number. Less than a week from the wedding, I had not received any notice from the shop. I called and the salesperson who answered gave me the tracking information, but said she did not know why they asked for my e-mail because they do not even have computers in the shop! The dress arrived in time. It was hemmed, but was not altered in the shoulders, nor were the beads replaced as promised. I immediately called Donna who asked me to let her know the amount of my local tailor's bill. I was lucky to find someone locally who could alter it overnight so I could fly to the wedding! I faxed my bill to the shop and called to confirm they received it. I was told "Donna is with a customer, but she promises she will take care of it." That was 6 weeks ago. The worst store ever. The owners are rude and very racists. My friend bought a dress from the back in June. The promised her they could alter the dress and after 9 months the dress still was completed. They told her to come back or do whatever she. They also told her not to bring her entourage. The folks in this shop seem to be very nice people; very personable and interested in the occasion you are shopping for. Then you buy a dress, an expensive one. You have second thoughts because it was so expensive but you cannot return it because all sales are final. So they offer an opportunity to look through their catalogs and choose another dress that they can order for you. Very nice. Very helpful. Then you don't hear from them for a few weeks; you call back and they tell you they are going to meet with the designer the following week and will bring dresses back in your size. Never mentioning again, the option to look through their catalog. Then you don't hear from them for a few weeks; you call back. Oh yes, they have a dress in your size for you. Even texted me a picture of it. Very helpful. So you go back to the store. One dress. Not the correct size. But if you like it they can order one in your size. But that will cost you more.. Now you are two weeks from your son's wedding. They order your size; you go back in a week, try it on and it will do. Take it home and find out there is not one label in the dress. No size. No designer. No cleaning instructions. No idea of what material the dress is made of. I'm not an expert, but I believe they altered the dress and added material to make it my size.
