BUYER BEWARE Be careful of saying okay. Paul who worked on my car said he would give me a quote on a battery for my upcoming appointment. When he called me to tell me my car was ready he had already replaced the battery. I said I was disappointed that I was never given a quote and his response was he thought by my saying "okay" to getting a quote meant I was agreeing to replacing the battery. I really feel like I was taken advantage of. He gave me quotes for everything else on my car except the battery. I don't think I'll be coming back ever. read more

They usually don't crash my car into other objects or vehicles. Usually do decent work too. But this time they did on par work, but hit my car putting 7 blue lines plus a crack plus a few chips in my rear bumper. Pretty upset. They claim I damaged it, but it was taken to the shop pretty, and came home damaged. They brilliantly parked the car backwards at the shop. Also highly reluctant to use the coupon blatantly advertised on their website for 20% off for covid-19. read more

I thought I had finally found an auto service shop who would treat me honestly and fairly. However, I was told on Nov. 8 that I needed a brake job, and that I should do so within 1500 miles. 562 miles later. On Nov. 18 Specialized told me that I needed the rotors replace. It cost me nearly $600! AVOID this shop or you'll receive bad advice and poor service. I am still searching, after nearly 20 years in Santa Cruz, to find an auto service shop who will treat me honestly and fairly. Specialized is NOT that shop. read more

Good service except had to Waite a little longer than i would like for my free car wash.

I ran my wheel chair van over a speed bump too fast; because it is so low slung I damaged something in the undercarriage. Made a terrible sound. Called Michael at Specialized and even though they were fully booked for a week, he agreed to arrange a look at my vehicle the next morning. Got a call back later that day letting me know that the exhaust pipe had been bent and was rubbing against the undercarriage - but OK to drive. Specialized doesn't do muffler work but referred me to a local muffler shop to take care of the problem. Specialized waived the inspection fee. This is not the first time Specialized has helped me out on short notice and I am extremely grateful for the fast service. Have had all of our foreign cars serviced there for years and always received great service. read more

Specialized has everything you want in a car repair and care facility. The head man (Larry at the Santa Cruz location), is the kind of guy you would trust your own kids with - he is as honest as they come! He has saved me hundreds of dollars by talking me out of unnecessary repairs. On rare occasions a repair needed to be touched up or altered. I've never been charged for when they had to attend to a repair a second time. They take full responsibility for their work. I've heard from a couple single mothers without a lot of funds that Larry "forgot" to charge them. I think it's quite telling too that they have incredible longevity with their staff. Since the day I drove my only new car off the lot 15 years ago, I've experienced an aggressively noisy set of front windshield wipers. At the couple of import auto shops I've been to over the years, the issue went undiagnosed, despite repeated head scratching over the situation. I even toyed with the idea of calling into NPR's Click and Clack Brother's radio hour for help. Well, Larry at Specialized Auto might be the third Click and Clack Brother. He turned on the windshield wipers, furrowed his brow, leaned in for close inspection, and bam! He solved the issue!
