Drove out to the mountains from Chicago with an aftermarket hitch that we discovered was improperly installed and started coming loose during our drive. I gave Specialized a call to see if they could fix it and they were booked up for 4 weeks but told me to stop by when I had the chance and they could see what they could do. I made it over one evening just to see if they could take a look and they were able to squeeze me in the next morning. They took the step that the other shop hadn't and drilled my frame a bit to make sure the hitch could be fully attached. Held together perfectly for our long drive back to Chicago. Despite being booked (along with other auto repair shops in Frisco) the staff was very helpful in: allowing me to limp my truck hauling a toy hauler, diagnosing my problem (a shattered u-joint), and fix it in the last two hours before closing. Found out while getting my tires serviced at another shop that I needed new Control Arms and Ball Joints, took to specialized due to the lift on my 4runner. They were booked out until late august, took a quick look to verify the correct parts and noticed that my ball joints had failed made room for me that day and fixed the worst of it!!! read more

I had been a LONG time customer and had referred many people. I am no longer a customer. In Dec 2019 I took my Western snowplow in because the plow was dropping and not staying up. They were unable to figure out why, charged $140. In the process I believe they broke the power seat switch on my truck as it would not go forward. One of the mechanic's reversed the polarity which took 2 minutes so the seat would go forward & I was at least able to leave. Had a new switch put in for $212 then returned to Specialized trucks to have the polarity corrected. Initially was told no problem just swing by anytime as it only takes a minute however when I got there was told the 2 minutes would cost me $70. Total = $422 and nothing was fixed. They sure know how to CHARGE but they have no clue about customer service to long time customers. read more

I have used this shop twice (drive shaft repair and block heater repair) and within 6 months both of the repairs failed. When I called back to tell them about the problem with the drive shaft, they told me it would be 3 weeks to a month before they could get me in for service. I had to have the vehicle towed to Denver and had all new parts installed from a Denver shop. Specialized had installed the wrong size parts which is why it failed. When I relayed this to Specialized, they were unapologetic. For the block heater, same scheduling issue (3-4 weeks) and once they did get me in, they denied it was their error and blamed it on a cord --which was to be replaced during the initial repair. At this point I told them I would fix the issue myself--but not before they charged me for diagnosing their own error. It's a shame that they provide such poor service. read more

Moved to Idaho Springs June 2014. Been having problems with previously installed HID lights on my used Tundra for a couple of years now. Finally found these guys in Frisco from a referral of a friend who has had work done here before. They were the only ones to give me a straight answer after calling numerous other places. I had them do a couple of other things that I had quoted in Denver. The quote they gave me for the additional work was the same at the other 4x4 shop. Upfront, honest, knowledgable and the communication was great. Labor cost is posted at the desk, same cost in Denver. The work they did on my vehicle was fine. No issues with the work itself. (I had a hitch installed.) However, I called twice to verify the quote I received before making the appointment. Once the work was completed, the cost was $200 more than the quote. When I explained this, they removed the freight cost from the total ($46) but I still had a bill that was about $150 higher than the price I was originally given. There weren't any vehicle complications to cause this difference. My frustration is that, while they did remove a portion of the cost, I'd consider the customer service mediocre due to their lack of effort to come closer to the quoted price. read more

I understand that prices may be more expensive in the mountains.....that due to transportation cost and the limited availability of certain things....there is going to be a slight premium. I was in Breckenridge for the day when the engine light came on in my car. I pulled into the Napa Auto across from Wal-Mart and asked if they had an engine computer. The guy said they didn't but to ask Specialized Auto behind them. Upon walking into the Specialized Auto store -- I asked the guy at the front if they had an engine computer -- the computers they plug in to tell you what the engine light is for. He said he did but had to ask his manager. The manager came out and I explained what I was dealing with -- he informed me there was a $75 charge. I ask him politely "This is the same engine computer that Napa and other auto stores provide free of charge at other locations..." He simply shrugged his shoulders and said "yep....."! Again....I could maybe see a $5 or $10 dollar charge -- but $75 bucks. I wonder what an oil change would cost? It ended up being a fuel filter....$35 dollar charge at a store in Denver. read more

Great experience! Needed a bushing on my new jeep to be replaced because it would not shift into 4 wheel drive. It's an expensive fix based on Chrysler handling of their parts. They found a more cost effective way to fix it, and said two to three hours of labor that I agreed to. They did it in 1 &1/2 instead. The honesty and knowledge and will to get me out of the door at a price I was happy with was exceptional. Manager Jesse is great (loves 4x4's) as is store owner Scott. Will get all work and upgrades done here when in summit county! You should too. read more

Had a screw in tire. Went to two tire stores in Frisco and neither could fit us in until the next day (first snow day of the season). Dropped in Specialized in hopes they might be able to help us out but didn't except they would due to other stores schedules. Was greeted with smiles and they said they could fit us in but might be a couple of hours. No problem since we were losing air pressure pretty fast. Left the Jeep and went to get a bite to eat. Got a call within an hour letting us know it was fixed. Reasonable cost and great service. read more

Used this shop to install a turbo-back stainless steel exhaust system on my Powerstroke 7.3L. Originally, they wouldn't do it because I insisted on providing my own part, then changed their mind a day later. Labor rate was high at 137 an hour, and the job was incomplete. They charged me for a half hour of nothing, because they were unable to remove the downpipe...Something that any competent mechanic should be able to do, especially if they tell the customer they can take on the job. This job includes making firewall clearance for the new downpipe..After fiddling with the original downpipe, unsuccessfully, for a half hour, they decided to give up and just install the exhaust with the original downpipe. That was NOT what I asked them to do. Not too mention that the exhaust is now touching the firewall, making it unbearably loud in the cab of the truck. I payed $370 for a half-ass job that will need fixing in the immediate future.. I will see about having them fix it for free, but Im sure that will be a struggle and a half. the guy at the front desk also had no clue what a powerstroke was...I find that rather odd, coming from a guy working at a custom truck and suv fab shop... read more
