After building a brand new pool 2.5 years back, I noticed on Day 2, a build-up of white calcium on the black tile. The pool looked gorgeous, and I trusted my pool builder completely. That was a really bad decision. Several checks later by several pool professionals including pool service folks, i learnt that the pool builder got me cheap black tiles that were not pool grade, not even outdoor grade. The pool builder has run off and has not even shown me the tile bills for the warranty. The pool builder was a cheat and skimmed me off on the black tiles and shoddy job. Anyway, long story short, this white calcium hardened, and no chemical in the market, advertised, in any home store, DIY could help. My pool guy cleaned weekly, but the white buildup never disappeared. In my search on Google, out of absolute luck, I chanced upon Specialty Aquatic Tile Cleaning and gave them a call. Joe answered and was very professional from the get-go. He asked for pictures, once received, and estimated the work cost. Joe gave me time, was prompt to arrive on time, surveyed the situation, and confirmed they were not pool grade, but he could do his best to remove all the hardened calcium. It was one of the best decisions. Joe was professional, on time, and kept me informed all the time during the work. He did a fantastic job, keeping the pool and the property extremely clean. I hate to inform everyone who uses / or is considering using Joe Valenciano at Specialty Aquatic Tile Cleaning that he refuses service to clients based on discriminatory business practices. I had a date scheduled for pool tile cleaning and developed a very positive relationship with Joe over the phone and via text, however upon his arrival, he was either offended by my flag pole displaying the American Flag, red, white & blue bannisters left over from the 4th of July and/or a TRUMP flag displayed on the interior of my home and immediately casted judgement and refused to perform work at my home... Certainly any business has the right to refuse service to anyone but I believe his business practices are extremely discriminatory and anyone who does business with him should caution themselves because I do not know what other discriminations he may have. Very shady and dishonest. Offered a great quote to clean the tiles on our pool, but then increased the price half-way through the job. After agreeing to pay the extra amount, Joe finished the job and said the solution used to break down the calcification would eventually breakdown and what little is left would get absorbed by the filter and that the water would return to normal within a few days. After a few days, the water remained cloudy, dirty and sticky. I then realized our pool filter was complete covered in sludge, making inoperable. Essentially, he left the mess for our pool guy to clean, which of course made him very unhappy and it cost me more money. Word of advice, be sure your quote includes EVERYTHING that the job requires. Other quotes were a bit higher, but now I understand why. Lesson learned. read more
