I called and left a message Monday morning and received a call back from the owner, John Phillips. I pass by his lot every day coming and going and noticed that he always seemed to have lots of nice looking stock on hand. I was in the market for a late model Infiniti and noticed that he had several on hand. When John called me back, I delivered my typical "This ain't my first rodeo speech," so as to let him know that I was not going to be a push over. John was very humble and friendly, it was immediately apparent to me that working with him was going to be fun and easy. After speaking on the phone a few times, curiosity finally got the better of me and I stopped by after work. John is a man's man who loves to talk about fishing and his kids, and we got along famously. He presented me with several options, and earned my trust by revealing several aspects of the deal that are normally kept from customers. It was an educational experience, even for someone like me whose bought several cars and has friends who have their dealers license. The car had some minor imperfections, but John made some calls and got me taken care of. As it turns out, this is not his first rodeo either and he is incredibly well connected, and apparently incredibly influential with his business contacts as he was able to get me some nice freebies and discounts. Having purchased 10 cars since moving to Austin, most of them at Austin Infiniti, I had a good basis for comparison for rating a car buying experience. John and Texas Auto Ranch are far and away the best I've ever encountered, and because of integrity, his personality, and his willingness to go above and beyond, he's earned a customer for life. Here are some pointers: 1. Call him first to find out if he has what you want, or visit his website. 2. He may be able to find what you want if he doesn't already have it. 3. Be nice and you'll be amazed at the level of service you receive. 4. Give John a shot at your financing even if you already have your own lined up. He could have saved me some money, as it turns out. 5. Compare his prices to anyone in town; you'll be amazed. 6. Tell him that you contacted him because of his YELP page, so he'll believe me when I tell him it will actually increase his sales.

They…read moreare not your typical, fancy car dealership, with the sales team vultures stalking and swirling around you. The owner, John Phillips, is an honest man, just trying to make a living. I found the car online and had to drive from Galveston to Hutto to go get it. John held the car for me for 2-3 days until I could get out there; even though, he had other offers on it. When we got there, he handed me the keys, and allowed us to test drive the car by ourselves, trusting us to come back. Neither him, nor his friend and co-worker, Mike, bothered us while we were looking at the car, checking for damage, making sure all the buttons, lights, etc. worked; and that the car was in good condition. They were actually helpful and answered all of our questions with no pressure. They were no hassle, straight-up, and to the point. Not to mention, they gave us a great deal on the price!!! They made the car buying process quick and painless, in fact, it was a very pleasant experience. He even offered to take care of us, if any issues happened after we purchased the car. Additionally, they recommended a cute cafe for us to eat at afterwards, which was delicious and another pleasant experience. Needless to say, it was well worth the long drive to Hutto, and we will definitely be purchasing our next car from them. It is rare to find genuine, honest, good people like John and Mike. I brought my Lexus in for her required mileage maintenance for the first time at this location. I…read moreimmediately liked my service advisor and was checked in easily. I decided to wait for my vehicle and was disappointed that I was not given an estimate of when the car would be ready. I've had other makes of cars, and those dealers always provided that. When my vehicle was ready, my advisor came to me and let me know that nothing was found, and provided the extra information I had requested at check in. I received a text that allowed me to sign my invoice, but I was also sent to the counter, where an invoice was presented, so I had that option too. Lexus has a coffee shop for customers, and here's where this review loses stars. The employee working was cold and unfriendly. She wouldn't smile. She wouldn't engage with anyone. When no customer was at the counter, she stood around, looking unhappy. When I got in line for a second time to get a refill she made me feel like I was bothering her. This is not the Lexus service I expected. On top of that, while I was in line that second time, an employee came in through the back of the café area and asked about getting food, asking about the last muffin in the case. She said he could have it and take it. So, he did. There were four of us in line. What if one of the customers in line wanted it? Overall, this is not Lexus level service.

As for me, I've not had any problems and I usually have a list of things I would like addressed upon arrival as far as maintenance goes. One thing I noticed that's new is that when you check in it's likely you'll get a call from the sales department asking if you wish to have your car appraised to sell to them (I did). To be honest, I wouldn't buy a new Lexus today with all those small four-cylinder turbo engines and the new spyware cameras that watch you driving. I love my 2010 ES 350 and I wish they still made them like this. I'd definitely buy another one. My visit consisted of a 30 point inspection, drain and fill transmission service and serpentine belt inspection. I did ask to see a sample of the tranny fluid to see how dark it was since the car comes with no dipstick, but they forgot my request. They did run into a problem with the drain plug being stripped from the previous tranny shop so they had to get one from the Toyota location which added an extra hour and a half to my wait. Altogether the inspection and trans service set me back $532. It would've been nice if the inspection included a diagnostic scan to check for any codes. Overall, everything went well, and Harold my advisor was very attentive. You'll pay a little more here than the average shop, but at least you get the right parts and fluids. I'll be back when I need something else fixed.

This let me to dig deeper which is where I found many issues ranging from undisclosed frame damage to serious electrical system damage and an exhaust system that was hanging on by a thread. I contacted Imran with a full report straight from the dealer. He reiterated that he had a "120 point inspection" done and none of the issues were found. He said he would have his guy do the work, but I declined that offer considering his guy missed these glaring issues and is highly unlikely to be qualified. I recommend that anyone buying here insist on an independent inspection. Overall my net cost on the truck is not bad, but it is not what I signed up for.

Buying a car can sometimes get complicated, especially when management and all the behind-the-scenes negotiations get involved, but Zaid stepped in multiple times to keep things moving and ultimately saved the deal more than once. Covert offered a great price, worked with me over the phone, and delivered on the value they promised. That said, some of the traditional dealership tactics and back-and-forth with management felt a bit outdated and made the process more frustrating than it needed to be. If you're shopping at Covert, ask for Zaid. He made what could have been a stressful experience much smoother, and his customer service is the reason I'm leaving happy. Great prices, great salesperson, but there's definitely room for management to modernize the buying process.

At no point was I pressured nor harassed and all my questions were always answered with honesty which goes a long way. Nobody wants to come to a dealership to argue with sales reps when they are spending their hard earned money. Customers want to be treated with dignity and respect, and not like chumps who are bidding at an auction for the approval of the dealership. For this reason, I specifically recommend Covert dealership on 183 when looking to buy a new Cadillac in Austin, Texas. I strongly suggest avoiding Covert Bee Cave because they lack transparency and have ridiculous add ons. That dealership will tell you what you want to hear while lying to your face at the same time. So if you want the same great service that I received ask for Derek McNabb or David Bislar these are the only two gentleman I will ever do business with simply because I was told by other sales people at Covert 183 I would never get a deal on any Escalade ever while out in the parking lot just browsing without even talking with their manager. Some sales people think being withholding with discounts stern on price and tuff on customers is a good sales tactic for some reason then get looked over because nobody wants to deal with that kind of person if they decide to return to buy. Don't give up or give in keep looking ask to talk to someone else till you find someone willing to see the blessing of having a potential sale. I like a sales rep who is upfront isn't afraid of going the extra mile and helping me get a great deal despite what they make on commission. That's the type of person who will go far because they aren't lying and making up excuses the first 5 min of negotiations and aren't afraid of asking question . I've always been told the worst you can hear is no and it's true and you can always move on. Never be attached to a vehicle so much that you give into something uncomfortable be flexible it will go a long way. Anyways I'm glad and blessed to have gotten the help I did. During one of my daily searches on Auto Trader a new listing popped up for Mark Weinstein Motors. It was a "unicorn" vehicle - rare in existence - an older model, incredibly low mileage, in fantastic shape (barely driven) and the listed price was in the KBB green price range (either good or great price for the vehicle's value). I reached out to Mark, who was quick to answer any and all my questions. I was in Houston and I couldn't make the trip to Austin to see the vehicle until the weekend, but he graciously agreed to hold the vehicle for me without any downpayment once I had set an appointment for a third party inspection. Despite receiving other inquiries about the vehicle, he held it for me for almost a week and even stayed a little late on Friday for my husband's and my arrival into town. The test drive and purchase process were smooth and straightforward. Mark explained everything thoroughly and even went the extra step of fixing the temporary paper license plate on top of an old metal plate to make it more secure. It's another example of Mark's great customer service. Like his great communication from start to finish - phone calls and text messages were always answered promptly.
