The coffee was not bad but out of a paper cup because ordering "for here" doesn't mean you asked for a mug even though they take orders through a kiosk that doesn't have any further options. We stopped by Specialty's on Friday for breakfast. Too bad they don't have hash browns. We ordered some baked croissants from the kiosk but later found out they were not available. The counter person changed our order to croissant sandwiches instead. We had the smoked ham cheddar $5.95 and egg spinach mushroom croissant $5.25. Both were good. We also had a roast beef sandwich $16.45 and a tuna sandwich $12 to split. My friend said they were the same size as before but i remember them being bigger. I initially found this restaurant based on really positive reviews in proximity to my hotel. They have a diverse menu with great breakfast and lunch options. I personally got the Cobb salad, which was delicious and a large portion full of fresh ingredients. The two people I was having lunch with both got sandwiches which looked and smelled delicious as well. This café has a professional and comfortable ambience, which is perfect for a casual or professional lunch. You can self order at Kiosk and the food came our surprising quickly! I cannot be the only one who is ecstatic that Specialty's has opened up again in the Bay Area! What isn't good here?? This brand new location in Brisbane is clean, quiet and food is just as good as I remember it. There are self-order kiosks available. Online order is available too. Not too much staff interaction here but friendly and helpful. I came here and I knew what I wanted: a famous Specialty's cookie and the thai chicken salad. Hands down my favorite items. Whenever I order from Specialty's, I can never pass up their Oatmeal Wheatgerm Chocolate Chip cookie! I just love the texture. Can't complain about the Cappuccino scone either. Specialty's now has bowls and I've ordered the Southwest bowls a couple of times. May not look like a lot, but it's heavy and full of fresh greens and the toppings - chicken, tortilla strips, cheese, tomatoes, wild rice. Quite filling. read more

I was so glad that Specialty's reopened so I can get their cookies and sandwiches again--and especially that they have a location closer than Mountain View. First and foremost, they're deservingly well known for their cookies. The semisweet chocolate chip is my favorite, followed by snickerdoodle and milk chocolate chip. I didn't think the sea salt whiskey cookie wasn't that great though, so maybe it's not every cookie that's great. For lunch, my current favorite is the BBQ chicken sandwich -- super tasty, can actually eat the meat during pregnancy since they said it's cooked in an oven. I switch the bread to toasted focaccia and add arugula so it's a little healthier. I usually like the turkey cranberry one too. For breakfast- the spinach and mushroom breakfast sandwich (tasty, with scrambled egg) is way better than the spinach and mushroom croissant (kinda dry, hard boiled eggs). Prices can be a little high for the portion size (don't always stay full) and hours are very limited, but it's because it's in an office park. Just wish they still had these in the city. read more

Got their Classic Roast Beef Sandwich which came with medium rare cooked Top Round beef and was garnished with horseradish sauce and built on sandwich veggies, this is a hearty flavorful sandwich. The bread itself was Focaccia which was delicious and crumbly (the brittleness was almost cake-like), and the roast beef was juicy. This sandwich was completely wholesome and yummy. I would certainly get this again. And for the cookie I got one of absolute favorites from Specialty's and it's the "Black and White" cookie which is a signature dark chocolate cookie with white chocolate chunks. The cocoa in the cookie was deep and delicious and was balanced out with the sweet creamy white chocolate chunks. read more

The sammich for breakfast was at least double the size of McDonald's and close to the same price for this area. Stop by the Marina before or after you have a delicious meal here! Specialty's was my jam back in the day! I used to eat it a lot back in my college days in Los Angeles. I didn't even know they still had any in the Bay Area and I haven't had it in like 15 years so I was very excited when I saw on Yelp that there was a new location in Brisbane. The sandwiches were tasty. My wife got the bbq chicken and it was very flavorful and delicious. I got the turkey and substituted a lot of things (changed the bread, produce, and sauce). I was afraid they wouldn't get all the substitutions correct since I've been burned so many times by other establishments. However, they got all the subs correct so I was very happy! The cookies weren't as good as I remember. They were still good, but I remember them being amazing back in the day. They are pretty pricy for how small they are- not that "special." Parking is good since the restaurant is located in a biotech plaza with a nice parking lot. Worth checking out for a quick and reasonably priced lunch! read more

If you've ever worked in downtown SF pre Covid, you'd know Specialty's was a staple for lunch catering and their cookies! And a quick place to pick up salad, sandwiches as well as the fresh cookies. There was only one left in Mountain View after they closed all the ones in SF and the Bay Area. I'm sure the real reason is so that my Specialty's rewards would no longer be valid cause I racked up so many freebies they didn't want to anymore money. All jokes (I did lose out on cashing in points, so maybe some bitterness, lol) aside, I was able to find this new location in the Brisbane Marina area off Sierra Point Parkway. It's located on the ground floor of a newer building with plenty of parking in a business park. I only recently stumbled upon them again because my electricity was out for a few days during the rain storm as a tree knocked down one of the poles on my block and PG&E was bombarded with outages and I needed to find a quiet spot to work. I was glad to go for a couple of days and use their very fast internet and drink some coffee, (even though it's Peet's) and get through a couple of projects. I was a huge fan of the Chai Snickerdoodle cookies as it has this nice mix of chai, sugar and cinnamon that blends together and is very delicious. Also love the chocolate chip and weirdly enough the Oatmeal Wheatgerm. Those are my faves. It is however a $4 cookie, so it's more of a treat than a go to. It's good to be nostalgic about them as they were around for so long, but I did order a salad and the price point isn't exactly great. Inflation is ridiculous in the Bay and paying for a salad, coffee and cookie shouldn't cost $30. But I needed the internet and that was the main point as I called it a tax, but yikes. Will go back once in a while for a cookie and will use the place if I'm in need of connecting online. I will however try to get them for some business catering in my office if the prices are better. I'll have to look into it, cause if it's not my money, than why not cater from them every once in the while. Think folks would like that. read more

Specialty's is back in the area! Previously in the Gateway complex area of SSF they have returned with Peet's. I ordered catering for a meeting, and the sandwich boxes with cookie and chips were well-received. Vegan/vegetarian options as well. Would order again, as you can track your order by text. I visited in-person also and you can order at the counter to the left or from ordering pads. You pick up your sandwich from the ordering side and coffee at the cafe counter. There was wifi and a few outlets along the side. There was parking in the large adjacent lot, turn right into it at the stop sign. Clean bathroom. Are you kidding me? I've been coming to Specialty's since college. They use to have one in downtown San Francisco. I always dropped by for the cookies. Service here is great too. I'm so glad they opened one up here, driving down the peninsula was too far and too challenging. The ambiance for place is quite modern, with several self service kiosks at the front for easy ordering and paying. I'm usually here several times a week now that we're required to be back in the office. I'll have to try their delivery service at some point. Driving here is a bit wonky. The roads aren't smooth, but that's not their responsibility. read more

I'm glad they reopened this place after the pandemic under the lockdown. I know there's one spot in Mountain View but I'm glad that they opened this other location in South San Francisco. I haven't been there in a while but when I went yesterday I got the croissants bacon egg Sandwich kind of thing and it was absolutely delicious. Ordered their catering for lunch and their Beet Salad was Grade A+ (comes with mint, grapefruit wedges, pistachios and was exceptionally delicious, only thing is I'd make the beets a little bigger) Their caprese sandwich is delicious with marinara and pesto inside & of course their cookies were all taken by 1pm. Big change compared to the ice cold sandwiches, exotic salads, and low sugar brownies from mendocino farm's catering. Will be using Specialty's from now on Thank you! read more

Eh. It wasn't anything to write home about, had a sandwich that was ok that they actually mixed up with someone else's and we, as customers, had to straighten it out. Mind you that you order from a kiosk and you pick it up from the counter after they call your name, one would think that it wouldn't be that difficult. You have to order your Pete's coffee from the specialty sandwich side, which they don't tell you that. Already ordered my sandwich and my chips wanted to get an iced tea was going to go over to Pete's to get it, only to find out that I had to order it from the same place that I ordered my sandwich and my chips, I was so annoyed at this point that I said screw it. Needless to say I won't go back. Perhaps the pastries are good, I don't know, not worth my energy, nor my time to try them. Good luck. read more

The location is great, service is quick, decent place to sit and work if you need to. I ordered the Korean bowl, the ingredients were good and fresh, the chicken was alright, but to my surprise, they filled up the base of the bowl with cabbage! The top layers are basically decoration, there was not sufficient amount of rice or chicken or beans, it visually looks great with all the toppings but they just toppings! The food here is beyond good. I'm glad I was only visiting, or I'd have gained a few pounds, even with all of my activity! All of the ingredients taste so fresh and delicious (I had the turkey, cranberry sandwich, three days in a row) and don't even get me started on the cookies! I honestly don't think there's a bad thing there. Try it all! And of course, you can't go wrong with Peets coffee. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the staff. They could be a bit more welcoming, friendly, and attentive. My husband and I were so happy to see the return of our long-time favorite Specialty's! I stopped by the Brisbane location and had a carrot ginger muffin, which was great. My husband had the chocolate chip cookie and said it was the same as they used to be...delicious! The service was friendly and helpful and the store was immaculate. I am hoping they'll decide to bring back the pumpkin-walnut muffin and *especially* the oatmeal-banana muffin, which was our ALL-time favorite thing. I don't know how long this place has been in business but everything looked brand new. The dining area is spacious and sterile. Ordering is contact free, place your order at a kiosk and take vibrator to be notified when your order is ready. The food is mostly hipster sandwiches, chips and drinks. We tried the turkey and cranberry and they were delicious. This place is located amongst a number of hotels. So skip the hotel restaurant and treat yourself to some delicious sandwiches. read more
