On the day of the appointment I really appreciated how efficient everything is. The assistant was outstanding in getting me ready for the exam. The doctor was super kind and patient. I did not feel rushed at all and was able to address all my concerns. The exam was very thorough but also very comfortable. I was really happy with my visit! We all know about the global pandemic caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) that has impacted nearly everyone and disrupted our way of doing business. My family has been impacted in many ways. For example, the closure of our optometrists office. Before Covid, we had been doing business with Dr. Harry Charm at the Anaheim Hills Family Optometry for over 22 years. Sadly because of Covid, his office has been closed for weeks. Because of this, we had to find a new optometrist, after careful review and research, we ended up choosing Dr. Courtney K. Bovy at Spectacle Optometry. The location is spotless, (in the air) the atmosphere smells clean and purified. As we all know life has been especially hard on independent local businesses, so I decided to write a review based on 1st impression. As mentioned above, our optometrist has been Dr. Charm....obviously...after a 22 year relationship, it is hard to compare between doctors. We are new to the area and I was desperately in need to see an optometrist. After looking for an optometrist in my network I came across Spectacle Optometry. I called for a same day appointment and they were kind enough to accommodate me. I have been using glasses and contacts for over 25 years and I have to say that this is by far the best experience that I have had in my life. Hana was friendly and very knowledgeable she explained the purpose of each test and jotted down my concerns for the doctor. Dr.K is very thorough and knowledgeable she made everything simple to understand. She did a great job in explaining my options for glasses and contacts and was also very helpful in explaining how to truly get the best out of my insurance. She was kind, patient and took the time to hear me out and address all of my concerns. In addition she helped me pick a pair of frames and changed my contacts to something that would be more comfortable and easy on my eyes. I highly recommend Spectacle Optometry! The business itself is adorable inside and everyone that works there is so kind and friendly. Dr. Bovy was so thorough in her exam and explained everything we were doing in depth (it was my first eye exam). Once confirmed I needed glasses for reading, her and the front desk girl helped me try on multiple pairs and figured out what worked best for me. She said they'd take a week to come in and I got a text exactly a week later that they were ready! If glasses are needed, there's a wide variety to try on in their shop. I just went to Spectacle Optometry for the first time. First of all, the office is just beautiful. I also really liked that they have the technology to be able to take a photo of the eye and the optic nerve. This is the first optometrist I have been to that has that technology and it's important to be able to establish a benchmark. Now moving forward the doctor will be able to accurately assess how much my eyes have deteriorated. They also have lots of variety in styles and price ranges of their frames. I needed a last minute weekend medical eye exam for my daughter. When I called the office, the woman who answered the phone was very friendly and was able to fit me in. The location was easy to find and the inside was welcoming. The eye doctor was very thorough and answered all my questions in regard to my daughter's eye infection. HIGHLY recommend them. -Great service, treat you like a friend or family type service and I'm a new patient. -I needed to upgrade both my contacts and glasses because it had been awhile with Covid and they were helpful and knowledgeable on both. -Ive needed corrective lenses since Junior high so I have seen my fair share of optometrists. Dr.K for the win!!! I had heard about Dr.K through a manager at work, needed a new Optometrist and thought, "OK, I'll give it a shot." Location: Prime! Right next to food, the movies, a cycling studio! Tons of parking! Service: A+++! I walked in and was immediately greeted, and offered water. While my partner was getting their exam, I was invited to look at frames, and they even helped me with what I was looking for. Did I want something like I currently had? Shape of frame I wanted. Color I wanted. You name it and they were on it. Dr.K was wonderful throughout my examination. I felt supported in where my vision was, while still feeling comfortable enough to ask questions (not that I had any questions because of how thorough and clear Dr.Ks explanation was). I have actually gone twice, once to see Dr. K and once to see Dr. Bovy for getting a piece of metal out of my eye (yes, I didn't learn my lesson the first time!). Dr. K and Dr. Bovy were both able to get a small fleck of rusty metal (wire brush wheel) out of my eye with great care and precision. A prescription for antibiotics and I was out of there within 20 minutes both times. Explained every step of what they were doing to put my mind at ease. Thanks to you both! I was able to book a same day appointment for my daughter. The atmosphere was pleasant and they had a nice selection of glasses. We were able to leave and come back within 30 mins to pick up my daughters first pair of glasses! Also, if you are military they accept Tricare! I went in for my annual eye-exam today (2nd year I've been w/ this place) and I was very pleased with the seamless experience. It's a small place, but clean, sleek, and modern; the paperwork/payment was done on an iPad, the equipment looks brand new, the office decor looks like something out of a Frank Lloyd Wright building. Even the letter charts for the exam were digital! That last one tickled me. I was especially impressed with the safety precautions they were taking for COVID; the receptionist told me to set down the eyeglasses I was looking at purchasing to be wiped down later. As for the exam itself, Dr. Courtney Bovy conducted it. She was friendly and informative. I peppered her with questions and she answered each of them with patience. In addition to my own questions, she went over precautions I should be taking that I hadn't known before. And she was never pushy about additional tests or procedures, although she made sure I understood what they were for. Afterwards, she sat down with me to go over how to best utilize my insurance for the visit, which I appreciated. My first appointment at Spectacle went really well. The receptionist was helpful from the beginning and I really liked the smaller boutique feel. I loved that all of their equipment seemed new and modern. The best part is that they don't have that horrible machine that blows air on your eyeball! The optometrist just used a little handheld wand that was more like a whisper. That alone sold me on this place. Dr. K was kind and compassionate. She explained things well and helped me to maximize my insurance to get the most bang for my buck. I have a high prescription and am very picky about my optometrist.
