I have been a long time customer of visionworks on barracks and think they also have great customer service but my eye dr really went above and beyond and I think I'll be coming back for my glasses in the future. I called in and was told, yes, you were over billed, I'll take care of it. I'll call you in a couple of weeks. No phone call. I waited a few weeks and in November called the office. Spoke to a different person. She assured me she would take care of it and would call me back at the end of the week. No call back. I waited a few days and called. I was told, sorry, I'll check and get back to you at the end of the week. No call back. I waited again and then called in. Now it's December. I was told it's our busiest time, I can't help you now. Call back in January. I called. I was told I would get a call back by Friday. No call back. I waited and called the following week. I called again and was told I have more than a hundred billing problems I have to take care of. (100 billing problems in a small area seems like a lot and doesn't say much for their billing system) She told me she'd send another ticket in, accounting told her they were looking into it. I was not happy about this. I'm not sure what needed looking into beyond I overpaid and was due a refund. Ok, she said, I'll see if I can get it expedited. (I don't think waiting for a refund from October to January counts as expediting.) She told me she or someone from accounting would call me back that day or the next day. No one did. I feel as though people just push the problem into the future either hoping I'll get tired of asking about it or someone else will take care of it. I don't think My Eye Doctor wants customers. Looking at other reviews all the problems seem to stem from the office staff. This is too bad as the doctors are generally good. I have been a patient here since before the practice was bought out. Things have steadily gone down hill since then. I have had some concerns in the past, but I ignored them. This, however, is a bridge too far. The most unresponsive "customer service" I have ever seen. The primary concern here seems to be selling glasses. If that's all you want to do, they're helpful. Every other concern, question gets ignored. Not acceptable. I guess from now on it will be Not My Eye Doctor.

When I went in over lunch break I found a half a dozen frames that I liked and narrowed them down to 2 frames. Mr. Shifflet, the owner, gave me his opinion and asked his daughter to come look too. I took selfies to show my husband that night and he immediately told me I should take the glasses home and show him in person. I have never had this good service anywhere else. Parking is plentiful, the store has a lot of frames and sunglasses to choose from and the service is outstanding. I will be a repeat customer.

From looking at my online status, it appears that my glasses were ordered a week after my eye exam. MyEyeDr re-ordered my tinted lenses, which also kept being delayed. As of today, I have still not received them. I also received no updates from MyEyeDr. I had to either call or go into the store for updates. In the meantime, I ordered another pair of glasses and lenses online, and received numerous updates from the online store. The glasses from the online store arrived in 10 days and were much less expensive and of equal or better quality. I would not buy glasses from MyEyeDr again, but I would see their optometrist.

The only con is I live in Charlottesville, and find getting out there for a contaxts lens exam (40 min roundtrip on just the driving) with a follow up to check the contacts (again, another 4p just on the drive) is too much for a busy mom and business owner. And, i got my eyes dilated, and after 2 years of being a patient they HAD to sign a new waiver that said exaxtly what the old thjng said - payment due, right to privacy - but with dilated eyes you couldnt read anything. After repeating this 3 times to the receptionist she read it it to me (which took 10 min). It could have waited. That was Michelle - she needs a course in the customer experience. The 5 star is for everyone else. I had to schedule up a 10 min follow up appointment for the contact lens check up, and its 2 weeks our or 3 weeks. Thats just frustrating. My eyes are healthy. Just give me my dang contacts. ****update****When i expressed my discontent with the wait time as a long time client, they squeezed me in before a plane trip, which is cool. I had already visited other MyEyeDr offices to shop and compare, as I was looking to get a backup pair of prescription sunglasses. I found most of the other offices far more customer-friendly than this one. With the exception of Avory, who was most impressive in her courtesy, professionalism and superb customer service skills, I found the front staff lacking in their approach to customer service. Unfortunately, I did not have an opportunity to work with Avory. However, I continually observed her performance with other customers while I was working with Rashonda. Avory genuinely seemed happy to be working there and always verbally welcomed guests as they entered the office. Other staff appeared to have a perfunctory "just going through the motions" attitude about their work. I am rating this office three stars, rather than only two stars, because everyone seemed to be technically competent in their trade. Thus, if you care only about technical proficiency, then this office is fine. But if you're like me and you want not only technical competence from your eye doctor experience, but a friendly, engaging interaction where you feel welcomed and glad you came, then I don't think the Pantops (Jefferson Parkwy) office is your best option. If you are lucky to work with Avory, then you should walk away feeling very pleased with your experience. Otherwise, with the other front staff, I recommend looking elsewhere. What really made this place deserve 5 stars is what happened almost a year after. I was in Mexico City for some time and realized I could take advantage of the cheap prescription sunglasses there. With only a few days left, I called the office back in the states to get my prescription. Eventually the phone was picked up and I was told that they are not in the location I had my exam at and asked if I can wait until the next day. Since I couldn't, they had someone stop by the office to take a picture of my prescription to send it to me. This isn't something every office would do for you and for that I am forever grateful. Something I didn't notice most of the time but there were certain visual situations where I thought my eyes must be going really bad..... and when I came in they did recheck, confirmed the typo, and remade my glasses. But it was weird. And I felt like they regarded me with suspicion and side-eye the whole time and only begrudgingly admitted their mistake. And they talked down to me like it was my fault and told me it really would only make a minor difference, and my vision would get worse anyway!!! It still chaps my ass months later. I really wanted to love this practice. But I'm probably not going back.
