Months ago my son accidentally bent my favorite glasses completely out of shape. After my optometrist appointment, a very kind optician at Visionworks spent a very, very long time trying to repair my glasses. And she succeeded! I thought they were beyond repair, but they're actually more comfortable now than they were before. I really appreciate her help. When it comes time to buy a new pair of glasses (which, at this rate, will be soon) I plan to opt for Visionworks. But guys, start carrying Tom Ford glasses! They're great. read more

Super rude! I did obviously not know exactly what their guidelines were or how strict they were but there was 1 customer in the store and two staff and in the left corner I peaked (actually peaked I am not insane or a Covid denier) under my mask to see the glasses on my nose! and the lady seriously yelled from across the store. I did not respond i just thanked her for the time put the tray down and left. (I am not white I know better not to respond or start a discussion :) ) Anyway! Not so important. When I enter the lady who let me inside was already pretty rude, that should have been my first clue. She asked and I quote "what du you want? Do you actually want to buy glasses" I responded with yes and showed her my new prescription. (It was my mistake that I entered after this question) anyway .. Since the Doctor next door is super nice and good at her job you can just get your prescription there and go to another store. Even while getting an eye exam the doctor asked me (if I was comfortable) to lower my mask since the fog with your glasses gets out of control. I am going to "Spectacle shop" (also covered by UVA insurances, you can check the list online). These are their guidelines which makes it easier to get new glasses: 1. as long as you are 6 feet apart you can pull mask down to take a look. 2. if they have capacity you can have a family/friend member with you to help pick one. read more

Absolutely extraordinary service. My ophthalmologist actually made a mistake when checking my vision. My glasses were made to the prescription exactly, but it became clear within months that they really were not helping me with my distance Vision and I could not read the instruments without nausea. Visionworks urged me to go back to my doctor to have my eyes rechecked, and, sure enough, the prescription was significantly off. Even though the mistake was no fault of theirs, vision Works cheerfully remade the glasses at absolutely no cost to me. Blown away. It Doesn't get any better than this, folks. read more

Run, don't walk to Visionworks! I have vision insurance that Visionworks doesn't even take but they were about to give me a much better price than Primary Eyecare or My Eye Doc. But it wasn't just that. The optician and sales folks at VW understood that I was indecisive and gave me lots or time to think my purchase through. They didn't try to hurry me, persuade me to overspend, or upsell extra features. I called Vision Works and got Macaulay (sp) as a representative. She was awesome. I had a sudden scratch on my lenses from a drop. Macaulay looked up my insurance, got all the information and called me back. She deserves a reg. All on the phone and reordered the pair I have fast and accurate. This place absolutely is the worst and just completely unfriendly period. I walked in my prescription. I was originally looking to get some contacts and possibly some lenses when I was told because of insurance laws or what not they could not assist me. My thought was "Hmmmm then how does online retail stay in business when you are required to give your script. They didn't even try to sell me on getting an exam or anything. All I got was you should go to your original Eye doctor. Avoid this place at all cost. and the end the just avoid this place. Very poor customer experience. I went with my brother and a friend to look around for glasses as he was getting a new prescription. We were waiting at the door to check in as they need to follow the COVID-19 protocol. which I completely understand and I appreciate. So we were waiting patiently. One of the associates was helping another customer while the other three were either on the computer or in the back cleaning the used glasses. We waited for about 10 minutes. We literally moved 1 step to see the collection of glasses that was next to the door, didn't touch anything just look while waiting for the associate. One of them yelled across the room "You can't do that!!!". Completely rude. Eventually one of the associates came and checked our temperature and asked us if we have a prescription. My brother said no we are just here to look at frames. The associate told us "We don't allow people to come in without a prescription, but we will allow you this time". Then she turned around and asked our friend and myself "Are you guys going to see anything, because only whoever is going to try is allowed in". Well were really there to give our opinion to my brother but I guess now we had to try some glasses on. I found few nice frames and I gave them to my brother to try. The same lady yelled again across the room "You can't do that you need to stay 6ft apart". It is very ironic that she yelled at us to stay 6ft apart when we came in together and waited at the door for 10 minutes with few inches distance from each other. Overall we felt very unwelcome. I would never recommend this place to anyone who wants to purchase glasses. There are other places with way better customer service that know how to treat a customer! read more

My glasses broke, and I'm not a fan of contact lenses, so I had to get glasses quick! They were able to get the prescription from my old glasses, saving me money from getting an eye exam. The gentleman helping me was incredibly patient, as I am one of those customers who needs to try on literally 20 glasses before making a choice. Very polite, excellent service. Also, my glasses got done pretty quick, and at a very reasonable price. I say four stars only because although they have many frames, they don't always quite have *exactly* what I'm looking for. If I could give this place a negative star I would give them a negative five star. When you find a pair of glasses you love you stick with them and as long as they aren't damaged you can usually take them anywhere and get new lenses put in. Not at Vision Works. They don't accept certain brands of glasses at all, that's the first negative mark they get. Next, when I gave them a pair of Tiffany's frames to put my new lenses in they then said that it would be 21 days before they would be ready because unless you purchase frames there on the day you purchase the lenses they have to send them out to an off site lense lab. And now it appears that they have no clue what happened to my glasses. When I log in on the website it just says "Pending" and when I called the customer service line, they said that it was just as confusing on their end. She was very polite and nice and apologized for the inconvenience so the representative was actually nice but their system is not a good one. So not only am I suffering from migraines from not having sunglasses or my new prescription but it seems that they have lost my Tiffany frames! Worst eyeglass center ever. I got a new pair of prescription sunglasses from Warby Parker and the frame was way too large for my face. I walked in expecting to have to make an appointment and to pay a fee, but I was greeted and walked through their CoVId safet precautions and asked to sanitize my hands. I sat down and within 10 minutes I had sunglasses that fit! They also did not charge me for this service. read more

I woke up after a late night with my world still a blurry spinning mess. Upon stumbling out of bed my first step was accompanied by the nasty sinking feeling of destroying something very needed and expensive my spectacles; as if my self respect was not enough the night before. After a yellow Gator Aid and some delicious much needed candy coated Advil I made the short trip to Vision Works. I was greeted by friendly understanding faces. A lovely , talented and especially kind women named Nallike ; not sure that is actually her name apologizes friends, fixed me up right and proper and made me feel incredibly welcome. I inquired about the fee and she happily let me know there would be no charge. Do not recommend. My wife and I came by around 5pm on 6/29 so I could get a pair of glasses. We were the only Black patrons in the store. The saleswoman followed us around the entire time. I thought it was surely a coincidence, and walked across the different corners of the sales floor to see if she would follow us. Of course she did! She even asked my pregnant wife to get up out of an unused chair so no apparent reason. With all this time spent following me around the store, the saleswoman didn't even offer to help me find anything. Shame on you and on your establishment. The staff members at Visionworks have all been terrific over the years. Very helpful and go out of their way to fix damaged frames at no charge. Most recently, I went in to order a new pair of glasses. While placing the order, Byron noticed an error in my prescription based on my history. Rather than place the order, they called my ophthalmologist the following day to make sure the change was correct. Good thing they did, because a correction was made and a new prescription was faxed over. Byron wasn't in when I returned to complete the order, so Kelly helped me. She, too was very helpful and professional. If Byron hadn't been so diligent (and I must say his fashion sense was spot on, too), this would have been a mess. But he headed it off at the pass! read more

I'm one of those people who can't see their hand in front of their face without their contacts or glasses. So this one time I only had contacts but I got a bad infection in my eye and needed glasses. they got me in quick and were really friendly. This place was super quick and I got my glasses in like 2 days, you can get them in shorter time but i have really bad eyes so mine always take longer. they gave me some free sample contacts and when i mentioned i didnt like them, they gave me another brand to try. The prices were decent and I remember the frames not being too cheap looking. good place and good prices! read more

I went to the eye doctors that they have here, paying a hefty price to get fitted for contacts and all but when I was all finished and getting ready to leave I've failed to realize that they DID NOT give me my prescription! And even now just trying to get ahold of them to get my contact prescription is difficult. I even had to contact customer service to get my prescription. They broke my frames, and didn't even apologize. It took an extra effort from my side to get refund. They wanted to replace my frame with what they have in their stock, but didn't have the same one - still insisting on the swap. The engineer didn't do a good job for the lens crafting, I had to ask for redo, then he broke them. No apology and just bad customer service. read more

I like the customer service. Everyone's always nice. They adjust and clean your glasses for free (if you bought them there). The prices are high, but any place that's not Walmart has high prices. But they have good sales, and I really racked up on a sale I where I got three pairs. read more

The eye doctor gave me the wrong measure. He was pushing me to buy bifocal (more expense glasses). I paid there around 40$ for nothing. I went to UVa hospital for a second opinion. Not the company they used to be. Never been treated as badly as I was treated at the Barracks Rd Charlottesville Va store in any retail experience. A pair of $400 glasses broke in less than 3 months and they wanted me to pay to have them replaced. Poor quality and the manager was horrible.
