I used to be a raving fan and have spend thousands of dollars with them over the last years. That all changed when Mark called me today regarding a return and accused me of lying to him. I purchased 6 injectors for my FJ62 and they delivered in a timely manner. Once my team and I ( I am in automotive) installed the injectors three cylinders wouldn't fire. I called mark and he graciously offered to overnight me three more. These ones worked so I sent others back. Mark called me once he received the injectors came back to him, his tech applied electricity to them and said that they "worked". Keep in mind he didn't take half the day to install them into a truck to see if they worked and their company didn't even do the rebuild themselves! He and his team told me they believed that my techs fixed something else and lied to me about what was actually done. I have never been so insulted! Why would my team or I try to cheat specter out of free shipping? I have better things to do than that! When I told mark I had confidence in my techs and they were as good as his he told me "I'd bet 20 paychecks on that"! Even though they aren't a Toyota dealer they do represent the Toyota brand and should stand for exemplary customer service. Maybe he was having a bad day but this is uncalled for. 9/19. I was called by Paul at specter and thought they were going to apologize and no hard feelings. To my surprise they basically called me to have me admit I was wrong and that I should be responsible for the free shipping they voluntarily gave me that I didn't ask for. Unbelievable! Buyer beware!

I've been coming to Spectre Off Road for over 25 years for various parts and such. I have nothing but good things to say about this place and the "museum" they have is pretty bad ass

I was informed the seat covers are "not prone to tearing" and I must have pulled too hard. A repair would be at my expense.

I purchased upholstery for my FJ40 and have already had to contact them twice for issues. 1) The wires they sent were the wrong size. First they informed me that they have sold over 50 of them and nobody else has complained. When I persisted, he went and opened the kit and came back and said "oh yeah I see what you mean." He had to send me two new wires and I had to cut 4 of the ones they sent me to get them to the right size. 2) upon installation the upholstery ripped. I sent them a photo and they informed me that their product "is not prone to tearing." In reading the reviews I see that I am not the only one with this experience. I was told to return it for a quote on repairing it. I was also told that if it appeared that I pulled too hard during installation than I would be responsible for the repair. Their products are "pit bull" tested yet you have to be gentile with them when installing? I pulled it only as much as I had to in order to get it to cover the frame. The attitude on the phone leaves something to be desired. Clearly this company has no interest in customer service. Unfortunately the resources for old landcruisers are limited so they can provide crappy products and crappier customer service and stay alive.

This place is awesome if you're a Land Cruiser fan. It's like a museum, a show room and a store.

We had just got our Santa Fe washed at Speedwash on Roscoe near Tompanga and realized we wanted new wipers. Yes, I suppose buying windscreen wipers AFTER the heavy rains of Winter may be futile, but I believe in Spring showers so....fingers crossed! Rather than hitting the chain auto part shops in this area, I decided to try CQ Auto Parts. I love a local spot and this one is a gem. Pretty quiet this morning, but Simon was there to greet us and inquire as to what brought us in this day. Since I couldn't remember the wiper sizes - Note to self: Note this! - he looked it up. As I found out last year, when you double check the size, one(the smaller passenger side wiper) is listed as 13" on some sites and 14" on others. We went with the 13", made our purchase, chatted a bit more with Simon about "signs o' the times", etc, then made our way out. I double checked the size we put on last year, remembering we went back and forth a couple of times with the smaller wiper, before we drove away. Simon noticed this from inside the shop and came out to lend assistance, thinking we were installing them. I showed him the wiper and mentioned how frustrating it was that the smaller wiper seems to be the challenge, but he agreed, the smaller wiper currently on the vehicle looked like a 15". So he went inside, grabbed a 15", returned, compared then exchanged the 13" wiper I had purchased. He asked if we would like him to put them on, but we declined and thanked him before departing the curb. I would definitely come back to CQ Auto Parts for my next parts purchase and I hope they're still here when I need them. Cheers! "CC"

The employee Simon selected what he said was the proper battery for my vehicle, and proceeded to install it on-site. He then made me pay for the battery before turning on my car "to let it charge", and so after paying and returning to my vehicle and starting the car, the electronics went haywire and some smoke seemed to appear under the hood. Simon was completely unhelpful at this point and recommended I call a tow truck, which I did. I brought the car to my reputable mechanic, Pro Automotive Repair Center, in Glendale, and was informed that the wrong type of battery was installed, and that it also was an old battery. I have proving documentation from the mechanic shop regarding this. The outcome for the incorrect install was my Lexus alternator being fried, with the total bill coming at approximately $950 (not including tow truck fees and subsequent rental car fees). Upon attempting to contact the shop to explain the situation and attempt to resolve this issue, Simon became rude on the phone and hung up on me, and refused to give me the owner's contact information. I had no choice but to request a police presence to monitor the situation while I visited in person to once again attempt resolution. Only with the police present did Simon agree to refund me the price of the battery, but he still refused to give me any contact information of the owner, and suggested I take it to court. This is what I have started to do, pursuing legal action, unless a fair resolution can be found to pay for the damages to my Lexus due to Simon's negligence by selling and installing the wrong part in my car.

On my first visit, the mechanic could not find a leak and simply flushed and replaced the coolant. The very next day, the coolant level dropped again. I returned, and hoses were ordered. After I picked up the car, coolant leaked onto my driveway, requiring another visit. I was then told both the upper and lower radiator hoses needed to be replaced. After the repairs were completed, I picked up my car again. The very next day, while making an Instacart delivery, the car suddenly began shaking, the check engine light came on, and the temperature gauge went into the HOT zone. I pulled over immediately and found the coolant reservoir completely empty. Pep Boys arranged a tow, but I waited more than three hours because of a scheduling mistake. When my car finally arrived at the shop, I personally discovered that the upper radiator hose had become disconnected. This should have been caught before the vehicle was returned to me. Although the coolant was refilled, I no longer have confidence in the repair and now feel I have to check the coolant level every day. To make matters worse, about 2,000 miles later, I was told the radiator had cracked and needed replacement. After comparing prices, I found the same repair could have been done elsewhere for about half the cost, so I chose not to proceed with Pep Boys and had the work done at another shop instead. Overall, this experience involved multiple return visits, wasted time, towing delays, inconvenience, lost work, and unnecessary stress. I expected professional repairs and quality control but did not receive either. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Pep Boys for coolant system repairs. I suggest finding an experienced independent repair shop instead.
