I know it's hardly a hot take but wow...Spectrum is terrible. I was scheduled to have installation Saturday at noon. They called me asking to move it. So I moved it to 11am as they said they were free. Then when she tried to book 11a, it somehow didn't take and I said "fine, keep it at noon." And then...noon was taken and they're trying to book me on Sunday. Absurd customer service. All I wanted to do is have internet installed when they said. We have been using Spectrum as our internet service for several years and have been happy with them. We recently decided to get our house painted but first wanted to clear out some of the messy and abandoned cables (for former landline phone and cable TV connections) that are on the back of our house. Also, some of our drop lines from the utility poll to our house were hanging too low. We contacted Spectrum, and they sent out a technician (Joshua) that same morning. He replaced the drop line for the internet cable, removed the old landline and cable TV drop lines that have not been used for years, then cleaned up the mess of cables that had been attached to our back wall. The back of the house looks much better and he made it easy for the painter to remove the remaining landline utility boxes so the house can be properly painted. so I have been receiving phone calls and text messages saying I owe spectrum when I don't even have spectrum. I called and waited and they told me for a do not call list. It will take 30 days for them to stop calling and texting me when I never had an account with them for them to stop calling me for payment on account. Walking in it is very easy to see how to check in. Discovered I could have scheduled an appointment. Wish I had known that! After registering, I immediately got a text letting me know I was in line.  There's a screen on the wall that kept me posted on my place in line as well. This location seems focused on selling cell phones and tablets.  They fill the store. That said, there were no employees walking around answering phone questions of the casual shopper. Appearantly that's another reason why they have you sign in. The store is clean and fairly quiet, despite the number of people who may be waiting. There's seating all around the store that breaks groups up. This was a frustrating visit because I was there to just turn in equipment. Yes, I was giving Spectrum the finger. But I had to wait through this system--behind people with all kinds of cable and mobile issues. However, my turn was very easy. Jai received my equipment, gave me a receipt, and asked if I needed anything from my account while he was in it. That was nice. And it made me feel good to know the return was happening directly in my account. So, frustration for waiting was gone. Now I see the sales person at the grocery stores and even at Walmart. I have put up with Spectrum's unreliable service with regular outages and no credit for the loss of service for a couple years simply because they were cheaper than google and I don't need the extra speed. When my price went up with no notice, I called to see what they could do for me. I explained that I was willing to put up with the unreliability because it was $20/month less than google, but not for the new price which was almost the same. They guy was nice but said there was nothing he could do. So I added google service a few days later. I called to cancel my Spectrum service and all the sudden there were all kinds of deals. I told this guy over and over and over again that I was no longer calling for a deal - I just wanted to be disconnected. He ignored me for over half an hour despite many requests to just disconnect my service. Once he finally quit rudely ignoring everything I said, he then informed me that I was still required to pay the entire final month bill even though it arrived after start date for the month with no warning about the increase and there still being two or three weeks until the end of the service month. Spectrum is a dishonest and unreliable internet service provider. If you don't need reliable service, you might be able to put up with them until the sign-up deal ends, but you'll have to keep track of that since they will spring the jacked up rate on you without warning. But if you want decent service or any honesty at all, you'll have to look somewhere else. read more

They have no option to cancel online. The tier 1 reps are not authorized to cancel services. The hold time is over a hour. So far I'm 1 hour 30 minutes on hold and still no representative. Just add a button to cancel online. This is the biggest waste of time. No respect to customers on the way out the door. Great way for me to never want to come back in the future. read more

I was a customer of Spectrum in the Austin Area for 7+ years and I recently ended my internet service with them due to inconsistent up times and speeds far less than what I was paying for. When I called to cancel they went through everything to try to get me to stay. They talked about how great of a customer I was and due to that they can upgrade me for half of what I was paying. I declined since I already went with another company. I cancelled my service on Oct 6th. Today Oct 22nd I received a bill for the service that I cancelled and when i called they told me that the bill came out on Oct 4th and there was nothing they could do about the charge. The person i spoke to when cancelling never mentioned that i would be charged again for the service, and when I asked about the loyalty and the 7+ years that i had with them once again they said there was nothing that they can do. REFUSED TO CANCEL SERVICES OR REFUND OVERCHARGES. After requesting our services be cancelled in June of 2023 (and proving that we did request the cancellation), Spectrum did not shut down our services, did not confirm if we wanted them shut down, and then continued to bill us for a full **year** without any further notice or care that the modems had all been disconnected. For more context, my wife and I had a newborn baby (born in late April) and were moving to a new home. Spectrum called the future house and asked if they would shut down their services... the future house's owners didn't answer. We decided not to buy the other house, instead, moving somewhere else. So Spectrum had called someone else asking if those services should be shut down, never called back their client (us) who had asked for our services to be shut down, and then decided everything was groovy and they should just keep billing us, even after the modem was shut down. Completely, utterly illogical. So here's how this happened - Spectrum never called us back to confirm the services were being shut down, because **they do not create a case ticket that you are trying to shut down your services...** (this is what they told me on the phone today, whether that is true or not). I.e., you better drive the bus and make sure it happens, because they won't care and will happily keep billing you. We just identified this a year later when running a comprehensive audit of all expenses and trying to figure out what was happening with our budget. When we brought all of this to Spectrum, their response was very cold, stating that they can do nothing to help us, and that we can feel free to bring a lawsuit. Well, wish us luck! read more

The Wi-Fi drops 2-3 times a week most weeks. If you call for a reset during the day you get a robot and have to battle for a real person. Funny thing if you call after hours, they tell you the office is closed and not even the robot offers to help you. Highly unreliable. We called Spectrum on 3/20/24 to cancel our service. The rep said to hold on while she processed the request. 15 minutes later the call ended. We called back on 3/25/24 to ensure it was indeed cancelled. Nope, it wasn't. We asked to have it back-dated so we didn't have to pay for the last 5 days but were told they couldn't do it because the notes did not specify that we wanted to cancel the service. But get this ... they said the notes DID SHOW THAT WE CALLED AND WERE VERIFIED, AND THAT THE REASON WE CALLED WAS TO CANCEL, BUT THE NOTE DID NOT SPECIFY "WHAT" WE WANTED TO CANCEL! This is some bullshit at its finest folks! It's not our fault their rep didn't enter the info properly. And it's not our fault the rep decided to put us on hold for 15 minutes, then end the call. This Internet service is slow when it does work, and very often it doesn't work at all. Outages are frequent, unexplained, and unapologetic. They refuse to take responsibility and blame every outage as our of their control.
