Now I remember exactly why I left Spectrum years ago. Their customer service SUCKS. The person that got me to sign up for the service promised a free month before I'd be billed. But I tried setting the service up several times and it didn't work at the various places I tried. By the time we found a port in the house that worked and got it set up, it was time for the first bill. But I'd never used the service. In a chat, I asked for a credit for that first month since I hadn't gotten to use the service. I was told I would receive a credit. The chat agent NEVER said, "I can only give you a $10 credit." He made it seem I'd be credited for the whole month. When I went into a chat to ask about the missing $40 credit today, I politely stated that it seemed very deceptive not to mention that $10 limit at the time, knowing I was asking for a full month's credit. The chat agent DISCONNECTED the chat. I just canceled my service with Ting today, and I regret it already. Ting might be more expensive, but they have excellent customer service. They are clear and they are not deceptive. They do exactly what they promise to do. Sadly, I can't say the same about Spectrum. read more

Incredibly overpriced internet with subpar service. I started with my internet at around ~$59.99/month back in November of 2016 and it now has jumped to $104.99/month. I had to have a technician come by to check my equipment since I've been having slow speed issues. My window to wait was from 3-4pm. I got a call around 4pm that my technician would be late with an updated ETA of 4:30pm. The link to the live map stopped working at 4:45pm. My technician didn't arrive until 5:15pm. It took the technician an hour to solve the problem. read more

If a Spectrum rep named DeMario Cooper ever shows up at your house selling Internet and wireless service tell him to GO AWAY because we will lie to you and try to rob you. His scam goes like this: He will verbally tell you that if you owe $ to another wireless company for a cell phone, Spectrum will pay off the remaining balance and you get to keep your existing phone if you switch 3 lines. Once he thinks he has convinced you of this, without a written price quote, he contacts his buddy who is parked around the corner from your house, and he texts him to come immediately to start installing an Internet line in your house without your approval. I told the man who was attempting to do the Internet install to go away and meanwhile, Cooper was telling my wife inside the house that 1 cell phone did not qualify for the for the full $1,100 balance owed to AT&T for the cell phone so I would only get less than 50% of that amount. He refused to provide a written quote and after reading 128 reviews with nearly all stating that you never receive any reimbursement from Spectrum on the cell phone balance after you have paid it off. Cooper also said that the wireless and Internet cost would remain unchanged for 5 years, and that was also a lie after I called the Spectrum Headquarters to confirm. I had to go in to the Holly Springs store to check on the capability of a cell phone. Based on the wait I had last time, I made an appointment and go there about 5 minutes before. I waited 10 minutes after the appointment time and finally my name came up instructing to go to a "specialist" station. Both people working behind the counter were helping other people, so I stood there waiting for the next available counter. Meanwhile, "specialists" were disappearing into the back and I waited. Finally one of the customers in front of me left and the "specialist" played with her screen for about 5 minutes. Then she called the name of one of the walk-in customers. I asked if my reservation meant nothing and she said I had to check in. I told her I did check in and pointed to my name on the screen that said I was the current reservation. She replied she could only take the next name on her screen. So having waited about 30 minutes past my appointment, I left. I have had the misfortune of visiting that Spectrum office 3 times in the last year and a half and every time I leave with a bad taste in my mouth. Lousy service that is sosoooo overpriced. They were charging me 295 dollars for the silver plan and HBO and SHowtime in Cary. I also had internet included. I always asked about any specials and they always said they had none. When I called to get rid of cable, they kept me on the phone for 45 minutes, trying to offer me the following deals: 260, 240, 210 and finally $170 for the package they had been charging me 295 for all along. I literally had to threaten the guy to cancel my internet and stop jacking me around. I now have Hulu Live TV/Paramount Plus w/Showtime and HBO, all for 100 dollars per month total. My SPectrum constantly froze up, had to be rebooted and now I have no issues. Good riddance Spectrum; you're a dinosaur that is way over priced. read more

Spectrum has really gone downhill and service is awful in the past year. If you're considering Spectrum, run! Not only has my bill increased 95% over 4 years. But the outages have tripled. Every week there's an outage sometimes up to 3! When working from home, this is unacceptable. Moreover they tell you that the outage must last over 4 hours before they'll give you a credit...this is approximately a half day's work. My husband and I are moving out of state and needed to return our equipment and disconnect service. (He waited in the car with the 3 kids so I was a *little* nervous about the potential wait... to say the least.) Service is currently down, for at least the next two hours. Third time in two weeks. While I understand issues Come up, at some point it just becomes unreliable. The first time it went down they sent us a message saying we would see a partial refund on our bill. When we went to claim it, we were told we're ineligible because it wasn't down more than 3 hours. In reality, it was down just under 3, then they told us it was back on when it wasn't, and reported it out again. Slick how they can do that. The CS agent when we called even said he could see that it was down for almost 6 hours. Use a different service if you can. We're switching next week. read more

Bottom line: Increasing my internet speed with Spectrum was not as extremely painful as I had thought, although being forced to call instead of doing it online was a bit disappointing and there were multiple phone transfers involved. The store location interaction was great at this location in Cary, the best part of the experience actually. The Deets: So I got the idea to try to upgrade my internet speed I was using through TWC/Spectrum and went through the process in doing so. I went online and usually you can find a way to facilitate these type of things when logged into your account etc. However, I was directed to call into their toll free number for this type of change, a bit frustrating for me but not impossible. The call process went a little better than expected, but at the last of the transfer chain (I had to speak with two or three reps to accomplish it all, so a bit complex) I was told I would have to trade in my modem with them for another to get the speeds needed...something not expected by prior conversations. I chose to go to a Spectrum store location myself to do this action instead of trying to set up a visit time. I'm glad I did, as this part was the best part of the whole process. I went to this Spectrum location in Cary, and found little to no wait (one person in front of me actually) and the transaction was quick and easy as they were open until 8pm and I went there in the 630-7pm time frame. As for the store I'd go with 4.5 stars just itself but the online and phone parts do make it a bit more complicated in all. The whole Spectrum experience was actually 3 star A-OK and less painful that I was expecting, with the store location interaction being the best part and so easy. read more

One star because I'm happy to have a location in Holly Springs. They are severely under staffed . 3 attempts to return a box. First, line around 15 people outside waiting, but on a Sat. Second, Sunday night, long line inside. My husband was told by someone in line that he'd be better off taking it to UPS store with label. Took labeled box to UPS would not process bc label is from fed- ex only. I stand here in line, 4:20 behind 2 people, not acknowledged by the 2 sales people. 4:43 now and still waiting in line just to return a motum!! This company rivals AT&T in the lack of quality customer service. I'll spare you the story of how I spent months fixing my parents' AT&T bill after AT&T helpfully "improved" some of the billed services. I thought I would never find a company with less helpful and occasionally ruder telephone customer service reps than AT&T. But I was wrong. Time Warner or TWC or Spectrum or whatever they're calling themselves nowadays ate hours of my time for a billing problem that they created. I lost count of the number of promises made and broken, the number of times that they said the problem was solved, the number of times that they said, "I know you have a receipt for turned-in equipment, but we have to find it in our warehouse first before we can credit your account." Read that last sentence again and ask yourself if it makes sense. Their representatives denied things that other reps said (despite me having a screenshot of the online chat, for one example) and said things like, "Oh, they shouldn't have said that." Well, they did say that, so now what? "No, our missing equipment is still your problem, and by the way, we've now sent the bill to a collection agency." Do these people think I don't document my calls, take screenshots, or keep receipts? My next stop after writing this review is to the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint. My advice: Cable is more reliable than satellite, but be sure you keep your receipts and double-check your bills. read more

Spectrum just increased my elderly mother's monthly bill by 47%. She is on a fixed income. This is a huge hit for her monthly expenses. I called and asked them if there was any consideration for the elderly and their was response was "no, she has the cheapest package" and they said "sorry". So 1) taking advantage of the elderly when all they really have is TV entertainment and 2) not even a consideration for a long term customer. If this were my company I would be ashamed. This is easily the worst run retail location I have ever seen in the entire state of North Carolina. When your equipment fails you get to go get tortured at this office. The people are nice but the experience here is very poor for several reasons: - There is no air conditioning vent in the front room. Really? - Lines get gigantic. To keep people off of the sidewalk they just added 4 rows of chairs. - The wait is very long. Instead of hiring more employees they added a ticket machine, so you can grab a ticket and wait. - If you go around lunch the wait is easily over an hour and a half, so if your TV remove breaks, plan on just calling in sick to work for the day. That or just spare yourself and buy one on eBay. If I were Time Warner I would fix these problems, fire whoever is in charge of this office, and apologize for letting this glaring problem exist for years. read more

My daughter has them her bill started out as 150 and is now over 200 and when she calls them to see if they can put her on another promotion. All she gets there isn't one for your area and she has been with them going on three yrs . This company gets worse and worse. It's wonderful that they have a no contract policy but they seem to have no desire to keep customers. I called to disconnect my service because I wanted to try fiber which they don't offer. They told me that when they unbundled my plan, cable alone would be $109. When I said I wanted to cancel as that was too expensive for cable, they told me that my service would end at the end of my billing cycle. They no longer prorate so I am moving at the end of the month and my cycle is over on the 25th of the month. They would require that I pay an entire month for essentially four more days of service. In 2019, Charter/Spectrum changed its policies to prevent subscribers from receiving back the unused pro-rated portion of their current billing cycle. They did not inform me of this when I called to terminate service, so I did not receive pro-rated money back or the benefit of paid-for Internet service. Had I been informed, I could have used the service for two more weeks since it was pre-billed to them. They have changed their policies to force people to pay for an entire month of service, yet do not inform people of their right to use the service they paid for until the end of the billing cycle. Their customer service is awful to begin with, they force you to spend extended periods on hold to cancel your service (i.e. no online cancel available), and then they stop your service before the day it is paid through. If you have a choice, use ANYBODY else. read more

Contacted Spectrum on July 31, 2022 requesting termination of service. Spoke with a representative who was happy to initiate that request. She then proceeded to try to get me to stay quite a few times. I told her I would like to disconnect service. I then asked that the bill be pro-rated for the 5 days I received service but to refund the remaining days of the billing cycle. The agent told me that she received permission from leadership to pro-rate my bill for the remainder of the month. I should have been charged $10 based on the agreement. I was charged $74.99. I called Spectrum tonight and they claimed the best they could do was refund me for a week worth of service outages and would use the call as a training opportunity for the agent who lied to me. I informed them a reasonable person wouldn't believe that pro-rating a bill was unreasonable. So here I am advising all of you to go get your internet from literally any other ISP in the Durham Area. read more

I walked in needing a new modem for my office and was quickly escorted to their sign in monitor which they entered my information from my bill (20 seconds) then escorted to the counter (5 seconds) where the gentleman reached for a new modem handed it to me had me sign a paper that I received the modem (maybe 1 minute) and I was off! The store had a modern open environment similar to a Verizon store with plenty of staff for a 11:30 AM. Fingers crossed that the modem is the fix , if not I could be back screaming!!! read more

I cannot believe someone would do this and then actually distribute all the limbs all over the place randomly. I waited in line for a solid hour to drop off my cable modem. The actual time I spent up at the counter returning my equipment was no more than two minutes. When I left the line was all the way to the door (snaking the place twice). They only had two employees working the entire time. Just poor. I have a long list of complaints and have tried going up the ladder of command but yeah, no one gives a crap, no matter how high up the ladder you get. Time Warner is rude on the phone. They don't care that their representatives lie to your face. We were told what our bill would be - for phone, internet and cable, $89. Yet, when I got the bill, it was $145. I called them and honestly they were like, "Well, it wasn't me you talked to, don't know who "Bobby" is, can't help you, pay the $145 or we'll cut it off." I have to have those services because I work from home, so I basically feel they are SHOVING IT IN ME FROM BEHIND. Half the time my premium channels would not work, some days I don't have a phone line, etc etc etc. No other service is available in our area so I don't have a choice. And they screw me monthly. I got rid of all my premium channels, have only basic service, dropped one of the boxes - did all of this thinking my bill would go down - This month it was $190.
