3 strikes & you're out in my book! 1st order: Shipped late. Quickly discovered that they do NOT make anybody available to resolve issues by phone -- you have to leave a number and wait/pray for a return call. At the time I had the specific e-mail of an associate I'd dealt with earlier, and he jumped in & helped immediately. It appears they've plugged that loophole now. 2nd order: Shipped open box product where new product was advertised/charged. Same old story: nobody available to speak with you. Either leave a # or e-mail. They ended up issuing a $50 refund, but this should not have happened. 3rd order: In a panic I ordered a $150 TOSLINK cable, but found out later the issue was elsewhere. Again: nobody available to assist with the return. In response to e-mail, they did approve the return, but charged a $15 "return label fee." Grrr. I ordered, on a whim, an open box vinyl stylus because Audio Advice had it in stock and for the lowest price around the net. I had never ordered anything from them before, so I was extremely wary about the experience (and the item wasn't cheap!). The stylus came in pretty quick, I open it and see that there is no needle on the cartridge! My heart started beating fast, thinking I was going to lose out on this deal, since I wasn't too sure of how good their service is. I started the return process on their website and submitted photos. I decided to also call their 1800 number and had to leave a message. I was starting to sweat profusely over this transaction but the next day I get a call from Audio Advice and the person helping me (Darren? I forgot his name, sorry) was super helpful and understanding, he reviewed my case and decided to make it right by sending me a new replacement stylus at no extra cost. A few days later, the needle came in, new and working flawlessly. He completely turned around my experience and my future with audio advice is bright, and will happily order again from them. I would have given them 5 stars, but there were a few things that happened with my experience. When you call for online sales, you get someone from their answering service that will take your number and someone will call you back. We'll this took a couple of days before I received a callback. The salesman was nice and answered my questions and even placed order for me while I was on phone. Received my product ( open box) and it had been sent with the incorrect cord so I couldn't use it. It took a few calls but i called the store this time and the salesman helped me get through to internet sales. I also started a chat and long story short, they overnighted me the correct cord. In the end I ended up returning the product because it just didn't work for me. The return was no hassle and I received my money back within a few days. Even though it was tough to get a hold of Internet sales, they made up for that with everything else. Would buy from here again. read more

I was very disappointed in online Customer Service after purchasing my receiver on line about one week ago. I called with a question and left my number with a receptionist but later found out every call goes through an answering service. After waiting for over two hours I called the Factory in Canada. Thank God for the tech's Jamie and John! They really spent time explain and walking me through things. After a total of three hours I finally received a call from Audio Advice. I told him how disappointed I was with their customer service. He said I should call an 800 number next time I needed help. The next day I had questions about the Arc Genesis. I called both stores and the 800 number I was given and went through an answering service all 3 times and left my info all three times. Never received a call from anyone from Audio Advice, ever! Again I called the factory and again I was walked through the process of setting up Arc Genesis. My Advice? Call Crutchfield!! read more

My 2 day air shipment due to arrive Jan 6 arrived on Jan 11. Arrival tracking info from FedEx was false (only trust the scan info). The package sat in Memphis for 3 days. See the online articles by Quara and Reddit on why FedEx is so bad. Initial impressions of the Onkyo TX-RZ50 are very good. I had it on back order since November. Updated - After posting this review the owner, Leon got involved and found a demo set for a fair price and overnighted the stands. I updated my 1 star to a 4 star. I hope that in the future Leon's employees take an ownership mentality and provide service similarly to him. Thank you Leon ----------- Messaged their messaging system to ask if a set of JBL speaker stands were in stock before I ordered off their website. Their website showed "in stock", but knowing the manufacturer has a backorder on the stands I decided to check first. Jeff responds to my message that they're in stock but "moving fast", which tbh felt a little sleazy high pressure, but I dismissed it at the time. I immediately ordered the stands, and messaged Jeff back who assured me they'd ship out the same day with tracking. End of day is nearing so I message using their chat system and am assured "the stands are going out today" but never receive tracking. I have a gut feeling that something isn't right, but sleep on it. Saturday I message and am told by Nick, oh looks like there was a mistake, so we've ordered them from JBL. So, no, they weren't in stock, they took my money, nobody reached out via phone to let me know. Come Tuesday when my promised purchase was set to arrive, I'd clearly have nothing, and would have had to I'm sure follow up with them then. I asked them to send me a showroom set they said they had in stock. Nick told me "they have wear from being moved around so much" and didn't give me the option of purchasing those at full price or offering a potential discount for the worn pair. At the end of the day it feels like they knew they never had the item in stock, sold me something thinking they'd get it quick from the manufacturer, delay me a few days with non communication, just to make the sale. read more

I called Audio Advice on a Friday around lunchtime and left my number and was immediately called back and they had them in stock. I was told if I placed an order by 2pm they would ship the same day and I should receive it by Tuesday. I immediately went online and ordered it and they did ship that day. While their products may be excellent, there service for future work on your automation installation is awful. For years we've had a good relationship with the techs that they sent out to service our system. But for the last year or so, their response to service requests has been awful. First of all you're asked to leave a message for service and they say that they'll respond. Good luck! This service was so terrible that I tried calling our tech directly which helped for awhile, but eventually even that stopped working. I'm not even sure that the Gerry person whom you're asked to leave the message with even exists as she/he never called back in response, not even to confirm the time that the tech would come. Their prices are extreme for this service and, when they come but the problem still exists, they want to charge after hours or weekend prices for the problem they didn't solve in the first place. We first used them back around 2009 or so and the service then was excellent and we had an excellent relationship with Sam, our tech, until he was switched to installations. When we had them do a whole house/system update back in 2016 or so, we held back an amount until we were sure everything was working. Bill actually called me to tell me that he wouldn't receive his entire Christmas bonus if we didn't finish paying. We finished the payment, but his actions were well beyond what would normally be acceptable. There are now several other options for this type of system and I'd heartily recommend using someone other that Audio Advice. read more

I recently ordered a discounted open box Rega Planar 3 turntable from Audio Advice with 2nd day shipping. They shipped it the same day, but by after 5 days, I still had not received it. I became concerned because FedEx had its status as out for delivery for 3 days in a row while it's location remained in a small town less than an hour from my house that entire time. I let a customer service representative at Audio Advice know about this, and after the second day contacting them that I had still not received the package, his solution was to send me a BRAND NEW turntable that day so that I would not have to wait for the FedEX investigation. True to form Audio Advice came through during an AppleTV/Sonos "emergency". Emergency? Ok, maybe an overstatement, but we use these pretty extensively and the thought of not having use for an entire weekend during football season was uncomfortable :). Nancy quickly responded to my inquiry and dispatched Maston and Joe who quickly found a slightly misaligned IR on our AppleTV which was not allowing EVERY command to go through, only a few. Then they quickly assisted me in figuring out why the Sonos app on my iPhone would no longer connect...turns out my iPhone connected to our guest network during a recent reboot. These were minor fixes to these professionals that would have taken me many hours over the course of several days to finally figure out. Their experience is invaluable! read more

I arrived to pick up my order, but I realized that I did not have written confirmation that my order was ready. It was my mistake. That is where Tyler comes in. He works there. He completed my order for me by checking the inventory and provided me with everything that I ordered. I forgot to mention that I arrived a few minutes before they were to close. Tyler just kept right on working. He knew that I had driven 75 miles to get there. What he did for me was a big deal. I have never received such a high level of customer service. I just moved to the area and my wife and I were comparing a few companies for our home theater with a budget of $20 - 25K. We had already received quotes from Best Buy and Intelligent Electronics and were hoping to have a third. When we stopped in Chip (He was one of the most pompous sales person I've met or had the displeasure of dealing with) met us and fairly quick into the greeting stated how much better they were then their competitors (paraphrasing) and they were rated top in the country just a few years ago. He then went on to state that they'd more than likely be more expensive then any others and it was because he had the best technicians in the area. The way we were treated made us feel like he didn't really care about selling us anything because our price point wasn't closer to $100K. This was odd because they do have a room that is geared towards someone with a $10K budget. He stated he would send us a quote; however, after over a week later we've yet to receive a quote or any communication from him. They do have a great showroom, but very poor service... Things obviously worked out because we decided to give our business to Intelligent Electronics. Go there and ask for Ed... trust me, service was much better and I felt like he cared about helping us make a decision that was best for us. He provided a quote that same day and didn't rush us in our decision. read more

Really knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful team. I had a good experience all the way from initial contact/sales, through implementation and support. They're good and developing a sense for the client's expertise/fluency and meeting them where they are. I'm probably middle of the road. Not nearly as fluent as some; not completely ignorant. I felt like they did a good job of discerning that and matching their counsel to my ability to interpret it. They're almost certainly not the cheapest alternative; I'm relatively confident that you could find another provider to do your job cheaper. But they're probably among the best, if not the best, in the Raleigh-Durham, NC market. They were very flexible and happy to accommodate changes. They were proactive. The initial wiring team, for example, questioned whether we really wanted to attach speakers to some beautiful exposed beams in our new construction and came back to us with an option to embed them in the beams, which made for a better look. They're trying to drive sales and revenue, obviously, so they will make you aware of the full range of purchase options. But that didn't lapse into pushiness or into pushing product. I found it helpful to be made aware of the options. Bottom line for me, I'd retain them again, and I appreciate their counsel and service. read more

I called to inquire about upgrades to my Linn LP12 turntable. I was passed off to service for some reason and the service tech could not help as it was definitely a sales related request. I was told my request would be handed back to sales and I would receive a call back. I waited about 10 days and sent an email asking for an update, no response. Never heard back. I've purchased many items in the past and never received much follow-up so I shouldn't be surprised. Wow! This is a hidden treasure in Raleigh! My husband and I went here to check out new home audio and theater equipment. They have some of the nicest demo rooms to showcase the speakers and theaters. I love how it's organized into what could true home settings. Everything from a kitchen set up with a Keurig to several living room designs. My favorite living space was the kitchen with touch control lighting, granite countertops and Edison bulbs looking into a living room area with a touch screen controlled painting that changed into a TV! I loved the versatility of this to be able to have a TV and a painting when not needed. The theater rooms were excellent! They had 3 different settings. The Silver Theater, Grande and Royal. Working your way up with complexity each time. The B&W speakers and Classe electronics were truly amazing! The staff was also very helpful and Ivan was phenomenal showing is various sound options!
