Service is awful and extremely over priced. Paying $60+ per month for a 20mb download and 2mb upload line. Other carriers in the region offer a faster line at a far less price (Comcast in Spokane). I can't do ANY online gaming at all. My ping spikes from 60 to 400 every 90 seconds and I end up lagging out of the servers. I have disconnected EVERYTHING else in my house and still get this issue. Their equipment is old. They do not offer dual band technology (the lady in the store had no idea what Dual Band even was) and their modems are at least two years old. Their built in Wifi doesn't cover my entire house, which is only 1100sq feet and they charge an extra $5 a month just to use it... Seriously??? I had to go spend $150 on my own modem and router just so my house was covered. Customer service is a joke. Nobody actually working in the store seems to know anything about broadband internet or modems and phone support doesn't talk to the local affiliate, so I was promised a piece of equipment by phone support that doesn't actually exist in my area (The dual band modem previously mentioned). So I drove all the way to the store to exchange my modem only for the lady to look at me funny when I said "dual band" and to tell me that the modem I brought in is the only modem they have... See my frustration yet? Time Warner is the ONLY high speed internet provider in my area (Post Falls) and they hold their customers hostage with their sky-high prices and their low end equipment coupled with awful customer service. read more

Absolutely awful. Speeds are slow and the connections unstable. Their tech support offers nothing more than "unplug the modem and plug it back in" which of course, solves nothing because their infrastructure is the issue. I spoke with customer service and was told my only option to improve our service was to bundle with their cable TV package. Let me get this straight. I call you to tell you that I'm unhappy with the service and the price and your response is to sign me up for more of your lousy product? Get real! The problem is that in our area we are held hostage by two lousy service providers (TWC and Frontier), neither of which is motivated to improve their product because they know they have a captive audience. Sign this review as "BEGGING for Options!" Buyer beware...there is NOTHING good that TWC has to offer. If you want your bill increased every few months go with Spectrum!!! You do not have a contract with Spectrum but they say nothing about increasing your rates. In one year I have had 3 increases - their excuse --- broadband surcharge of $20/month, utility tax of $7.95, always taxes!! Try and call to complain $5.00 charge to your bill - whoever heard of such a thing??? My bill has gone from $62 to $88. I chose Spectrum because I did not want a two year contract - would have been better off with one. And I had a terrible time in Yelp finding a way to complain. If I could give these clowns a negative number, I would. When I initially signed up, they were all nice and butt kissing and I believed the whole story, bait, line and sinker!!! After one year, my "exclusive" deal was over and up went my rates almost 25%! I called "customer service" and I asked what the heck was going on. No apologies, nothing BUT they did remind me that in another year my rates were going up AGAIN another 20% plus!! I recently talked to them again about reducing my "package" plan and after changing to the lowest cable deal and getting rid of the phone service (which I never used), my cost would've dropped $10.00 and change!!! Say what??!!! When I asked the "customer" service person who was a total robotic idiot if she got calls from people cancelling service all she said was she was taking many calls for new service!! If I could give a lower rating, I would. Fot almost a year, I have dealt with the sound cutting out and picture tiling. This causes missed portions of the program. Spectrum has come out numerous times and has not resolved the issue. They say I am the only one having this issue so I guess that is that. This whole company is a scam and a joke! Within 6 mo this they raised my dads rates from the introductory price of 44.95 to 89.95. No matter how many I times I called to fix it they did not care. I finally spoke to someone that said the only way to lower his bill is to cancel the services and literally call the next day and he would get the introductory rate again. Then two days later they sent a deal in the mail for only 29.99 a month. I would NEVER recommend this company to ANYONE. So we're going on two months now of trying to get my mom's Internet service discontinued. We need a special code off of her bill but she's not getting a bill electronically because she doesn't have a valid email address and they won't set her up for paper billing so she can get a code but really they won't do that because they can't verify her identity over the phone in the meantime they keep billing her $193 a month for services not being used. I remember them sending a letter after they acquired my area that they were "upgrading my internet for free" & it's specifically mention that I didn't have to worry they were not rating the prices for the service. Moving ordered service while I was still in CA. They pulled a "bait & switch" on me. In CA companies don't get away with stuff like this but Idaho must be different? I knew my home was to long for internet to reach so I needed an extender booster. They offered to throw one in plus wave the installation fees. The tech got here & they don't have boosters. The DVR only works for the TV it's hooked up to & their tech is really old... They don't do "installs" here. Their install equals hooking the cord from an existing outlet to your TV. I wasn't able to get install in the rooms I needed it. In fact there were not enough outlets for my TVs. The man actually only hooked up 1 TV to a box. I was on the phone with them while he was here trying to figure out if I was getting anything I was offered when I signed up. They told me they don't offer extenders, that they didn't understand what the install issue was etc... I told them to pull the recorded call, have a supervisor listen to it & figure out How to get me what they promised me & call me back. Nothing but the 1 TV was hooked up! I have no phone service. He didn't even leave cords for boxes to hook up to TVs or walls. He plugged a TV in with its own cord & told me it was downloading & would set itself up in 2 hours. It never did. No call back. I called back & they just tell me sorry they don't offer this or that & to call tech services & they will tell me what cords to buy & how to hook stuff up!!! Serious! I told them again pull the call & get someone to call me back. Get the bill. The person told me when she offered the extender that she would also waive the $45 install fee. The install they didn't even do... they charged me the $45 install. The lady said they waived other stuff & cant waive anymore. I told her - NOTHING was installed! She said that's the charge for the man just driving out! There is suppose to be a 30 day Money back guarantee!!! So today I'm going to find new service & cancel this cuz I'm not paying after all this! Nothing works but 1 TV... out of a phone & Internet for my computer I can't hook up & TV service... Didn't really have a choice when I got connected. I was told there were no promotions at the time I got my internet. So I was paying $44.99 / month and then recently they sent me a notice that my internet speed increased without any additional cost to me. But my next bill was $64.99!!! When I asked I was told my promotional pricing was over, but I never had any. Technician Tyrone (Tech #6226) was absolutely awesome. He spent over an hour in my home to resolve our issues and was professional, skilled, polite, friendly. He resolved the weak wifi signal problem in the bedrooms. In his troubleshooting, he replaced the router equipment and that boosted the signal to the entire house. Spectrum can not solve an ongoing issue with their MyAccount for us. We have a modem for phone from them and due to their routers never working bought our own router/modem. One of their service techs that came to our house with 25 years of experience recommended this as he said all the routers in the Spectrum store are not good quality. So we did that and now for 10 months our MyAccount states we do not have internet and to add it even though we do have internet and are being billed for it. The issue is that we can't download their free virus protection if our MyAccount says we don't have internet. I have talked to or chatted online with no less than 15 different service techs who all assured me it would be fixed. Went into the office and they looked into it and actually got our modem/router to be recognized, but figured out in about a month that our voice phone modem then didn't work. Not a big issue as we have cell phones but give out that home number to businesses and others who we don't want to know our cell numbers. So they looked into why our phone modem wasn't working and told me the code wasn't in for it. Put in the code and then our MyAccount once again states we have not internet. Beyond frustrating. Really hire some software people who know what they are doing!!!!! Really it can't take 10 months to fix this and we only know it is taking that long as that was when we added our own modem/router. read more

There is no phone number to talk to a live person available so you must sit and wait and hope the problem is resolve in time for your favorite program. Internet is sometimes just as spasmodic. People on the phone are very nice, and as helpful as can be. When I went to pick up my equipment the woman helping me was nice enough. There was a tech guy standing in the building for my entire visit of 20 mins. The woman informed me that yes I could have my equipment but a tech wouldn't be able to make it to my home until Monday (this is Saturday). I asked why the guy standing there wouldn't one be able to make it to my home today, he looked up from his phone to inform me he was too busy! Too busy in my mind is you wouldn't be standing in the building messing with your phone. Too busy, I wouldn't have even seen you! I call Monday to see if someone can give me a guess on when the tech may be in my neighborhood. The woman on the phone sounds shocked and says I don't see ANYTHING scheduled for you! The next available time is Thursday! The woman in the store never scheduled a time for me!! So now here I sit waiting for some tech to flip a switch... it amazes me in 2017, when the power company can cut your power from a computer but some tech has to physically flip a switch at my home for the internet. I have had poor reception for the last couple of years. I had a Spectrum serviceman out at that time and cleaned some things up with my cable which made it a little better but not a lot. I called again for a serviceman a couple of weeks ago and they sent out a serviceman by the name of Kelly. This guy was the real deal ! He found and corrected problems that had existed for a long time. He was disappointed that the last serviceman did not see and correct my issues. He was very particular with his work. I had their turbo Internet service which was suppose to be 20 mbs. The service was getting slow and then decided to upgrade to their premium service which is supposed to be 50 mbs. Of course I paid extra for the increased speed. The service tech came out on time. He hooked up everything and left. I tested the Internet speed and barely got 8 mbs. The speed was supposed to 50 mbs. I called tech service and they told me the modem the service tech installed was the wrong one. I'm actually getting slower service than I did before the upgrade. Tech service said they would send the tech back out to change out the modem to the correct one, before 7 pm. As anticipated, he never returned. Time Warner is certainly living up to their reputation of poor service. I am seriously considering cancelling the service after only one day. Usually I'm a patient person, but after 3 SNAFU's on a service call, I'm just fed up! The tech's (who seem like nice folks) arrived on time but from there it went downhill fast. . . .We needed a new box to replace one that was 15 years old, no surprise. They asked if the box we had was a DVR, we said yes. I record constantly and it's definitely a DVR. Also, we always get (and pay huge fees for) HBO and ShowTime. The techs also said our wiring was ancient so they did some upgrades; great! The new box they installed didn't work after many tries, so they got another box and put that in. I noticed that this box was not a DVR; they claimed to not know that the first one was a DVR, they are now trying to install it (third time's a charm)? They told us that all the boxes given to "legacy" customers, meaning customers that have been with them a long time are given old boxes! The new boxes are given to new customers!!! So the people that have been paying astronomical fees for years are given old, out of date equipment! Please, people stand with me for old customers/new equipment WITHOUT CHARGING MORE FEES! Time Warner is terrible. I have not had a great experience. First, the agent messes up my order for just internet. So, when I go in to pick up my modem, I am there for 45 minutes. They had to cancel that order and give me a new account. Get home and the internet does not work. Called the help line and she couldn't help. I don't need her to tell me to unplug my modem and plug it back in. The customer service rep tells me she will call me today with a better estimated time for someone to come out....Still waiting. I have never had spectrum before but I wanted to tried it out. I moved in to new place with my fiancé an decided to watch tv...i haven't had any issues for like half a year until now. I'm starting to figure it out why our tv keeps pausing or taking so long to download. So I tried to fix the internet like unplugging it for awhile an reload, same goes with our tv. We bought fire stick tv as well an we also restart to see if it's the fire stick not the internet n STILL struggling with it. I'm literally on the phone with their customer support right now. My modem(s) *I Have service in two suites, and the equipment/lines/or service is very unreliable. They say it's because it's shared and 100's of people access it at the same time. I pay $199 per month x2 and can't get them to help me. Modems reset on their own 2 or 3 times every day. Their own customer service confirms the most uptime my modem has had without a reset is 3 days. They still won't refund my month because they say "when it's working your getting the speed you're paying for". Hundreds of dollars per month. I waited 17 days for a call back from local business rep. They sent me to the 1-800 number. Due to the fact the local branch doesn't update the notes section of my account they 800 folks can't help me with any refund/credits. Sent me to escalations who sent me to a program called Reach for the really tough cases... still waiting on a response. Started the process on Nov 7. Spent at least 10 hours so far on the phone over the last month. Check out any other option first. My building only has Spectrum. They recommend checking your speed every day to prove you aren't getting the speed your paying for. It's the only way for them to give you a refund is if your "speed" is off. read more

Trusted these people to come into my new house and setup my internet, was with the guy the whole time except for the few minutes I went to the bathroom to change my daughter, when I came out of the bathroom and the guy was outside. I noticed a few days later my Bob Nelson #51 painting was missing! I called the 1800 number to ask for his name and they wouldnt give it to me! What a criminal. The panting wasnt even worth that much but it was to me since it was my dead grandpas. He gave it to me on his death bed in the hospital. Too bad Spectrum cares more about getting new customers than doing anything for their long term customers. Time Warner was a million times better! At least they tried to offer promotions to long term customers. $172 was the best Spectrum can do for their "bundle" deal for a phone line, internet and basic cable TV with 1 DVR. What a joke? And the cable was glitchy, sometimes the whole show would just freeze and we would just have to delete it. And they don't even have Fox right now! Between our smart TVs, our Amazon Fire stick (on sale for $20), Amazon Tv (already included in my prime membership), Netflix (we already have), maybe Hulu ($12/month-no commercials) and 2 HD antennas ($20 each), our Tv will be better and we won't have to pay any rip off taxes either. They pride themselves on giving you so many channels, but most are useless! I still have to pay Spectrum $85 for a phone line and internet though. I wish they had more competition! My family has had Time warner now for a year. In a years time we've had to call and go into the store numerous times due inaccurate bills we've received. I.e. not reflecting payments we've made. But the worst is in that years time we have had probably 2 actual paper bills sent to us. No matter who we spoke to or what they did we would never receive them. My wife and I enjoy having a paper trail because its easier for us to manage everything. But the only way we get the time warner bill now is online in an email.. But once again we never see it. Not sure anyone even reads these reviews or if they make a difference or not, but I still want to write one. The last person that left a review on 5/15/15 is correct, we're held hostage by these folks as they are the only cable company in town. Their customer service is a few notches below bad. The CS reps are less than knowledgeable and always want to give you the runaround. Your typical hold time/wait time for someone to speak with you is anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes per issue. You will get to speak with more than 4 people per contact you make, and from the four people, you will get 4 different answers. They will speak to you rudely and when you call them out on it, they will say, "...well you didn't let me finish..." I just got done spending about an hour and half with them, and got nothing out of it except utter frustration, and some tears out of anger. I was being given charity by their supervisor for 10 bucks... as he didn't think the issue warranted any credit but will give me 10 bucks for the "inconvenience" I went through. When I said I don't need this charity, he stated, that's not what he said. Sad sad experience and I do not wish it on anyone else. If you can go with dish, do it. TWC isn't worth the time and hassle you have to keep putting in. There will be constant issues that you will need to call them for, and then you will not get any help from them. read more

Definatley ancient! We had direct tv and were looking to get a better cable connection, so we tried time warner. First of all, the tv box was wayyyy old like ancient. It wasn't even on for a half hour and was heating up our tv stand smelling like it was burning up. Secondly, the viewing on the menu for the tv was ancient! it had the old text and you could only see two channels on the menu. It's not the 1990's anymore. You guys SUCK at customer service. I called on January 9th to have internet installed a tech came out the next day, but there were no lines to our house. He said we would hear from a surveyor within the week, nothing. At the end of January I called and was told they were just behind due to weather etc. Mid February, talked to the contractor that would come out and lay the line said we would hear from someone in the next 10-14 days. Early in March called again they said they might need to just lay a line and then come back and dig it in later. Well it is Mid April and you have done nothing, this is the worst experience in customer service I have ever had. Not acceptable and I am looking for another internet option. read more

We recently moved from an area where Cox Cable provided Internet and TV service. We had them for 27 years and including the initial installation we had three service calls. In five weeks we have had four calls due to outages. Today a one second power glitch wrecked the modem and the on line technician could not fix (she also gets a 1 star rating for competence and customer relations) it on 45 minutes and scheduled a tech visit to visit tomorrow. Fortunately from one of the previous calls I had the trusty paper clip and reset the modem on this end and was at least able to get this hardwired desk top working. Our wireless is totally useless with Spectrum- we're running 100 foot Cat 5 cables through the house to connect computers we use for essential services. The scary part is that several people in the neighborhood said Spectrum was better than Frontier! Now I understand why some of the houses we looked at to buy had satellite Internet. In the baseball parlance, we moved from a major league city to a single A farm team Internet service. Spectrum needs to improve greatly or fail. read more

As usual, my Internet service went down around 8:30 this evening, like it does every evening, just when I was trying to send an important email for work. What makes it worse is that this isn't the only time it goes down each day. It starts at around 5:30 am and goes to about 6:15 and then between about 7:15 and 8:45 and then between 5 pm and 7. I have no idea how many times it goes down during the rest of the day when no one is home. Plus, we can count on it going down any other time something good is about to happen on tv. The Internet is down so often, I'm beginning to think we'd be no worse off if we cancelled the service. At least we'd be saving the exorbitant fees. Spectrum is seriously the worst Internet ever. If we had an alternative, I'd quit this lousy company in an instant. Good thing I can walk, so I can get the AT&T network by going outside and standing in the street. We're held hostage to them, they've upped prices since they took over time warner, and I've also been told by their worse-than-the-worst customer service agents they don't offer "that service here"....
