Vivint sent a door-to-door sales rep to my rental even though I have a clear no-soliciting sign per…read moremy lease and rent through a property management company. He used high-pressure, misleading sales tactics to get in the door, told me I could move the system to my next place and that it "wouldn't cause any damage," and pushed me into a long contract on the spot. I'm now stuck with drilled holes in wood and drywall that I have to repair at my cost so I don't get charged when I move out. My property manager and the owner have confirmed they never gave Vivint permission to install here and don't even know who this rep is, despite Vivint's own contract stating that owner permission is required before installation. Vivint already has written proof from their own rep that he said there would be no damage, and there is damage, yet I keep getting brushed off with "we're waiting on the rep" instead of a real solution. I was reassured that Vivint does not tolerate the deceitful tactics I described, but their refusal to fix what happened tells me otherwise. They also keep claiming they can't get a response from the sales rep, but when I texted and called him myself fed up with their tactics he replied to me immediately, which makes it very clear this is about Vivint avoiding responsibility, not lack of contact. This feels less like a security company and more like a trap: aggressive, high-pressure sales to lock people into long, expensive contracts, followed by a nightmare cancellation experience when you realize what you actually signed up for. Given the FTC has already gone after Vivint for abusive sales and credit practices, it's obvious my experience is part of a larger pattern, not a one-time mistake, and you should think twice before doing business with a company that relies on deceptive tactics just to make a sale. The worst part is how clear it is that none of this seems to matter to Vivint; someone from Vivint is welcome to prove me wrong, but so far all I've seen is a company counting on most people giving up and paying anyway.

Epic was called and came out twice only to tell me that it was working properly. We are faced with using space heaters, fans and a portable AC to find any relief from the cold and heat in the winter and summer, respectively. I just find it disappointing that more locally owned businesses don't stand behind their work or their product. Are we a society that focuses on greed and not quality? My message to those consumers who might be considering EPIC, would be to keep on looking, you'll thank me later.

There's absolutely no reason to charge that much for such a simple fix, and charging is $70 more than the minimum fee, for the easiest job possible, is unreasonable and unfair. If you're on a budget at all, I would definitely recommend using another electric service.

Part of my annual winterizing list is plugging in my satellite dish heater transformer. This year, it did not come on. I couldn't risk Netflix season being interrupted by snowy weather! I called my provider who said they didn't do heaters. I looked up the cracked transformer unit on line to find it is no longer made. I'm not sure how I found Take One Systems but that was my lucky day. Finally, someone was willing to help me. I sent him pictures. He spent time searching for an equivalent new unit on Amazon and sent me a link so I could order the right one (there were so many to choose from and I guarantee, left to my own devices, I would have ordered the wrong one). Then he explained how to hook up the new transformer to existing wiring myself as it was a simple job in reality but intimidating to this 63 year old widow. He offered to send someone out if I couldn't do it myself but he had faith in me and his over-the-phone instructions were spot on. Between several phone calls, texts and his own time, he spent cumulatively well over an hour on my problem, knowing he would never see a penny for his efforts. On a personal note, he gave me confidence that I can tackle so much more on my own than I ever thought possible. The work included: Upgrade electrical panel from 100 to 200A, relocate the panel from the maid floor to basement, and move the exterior meter on the home to better accommodate the new electrical mast. Rewire the whole house Wire basement with new construction/open framing Install custom light fixtures and add outlets Prep wiring and electrical for upstairs addition Northstar was amazing every step of the way, following through on all commitments, keeping us informed, and doing quality work. Most impressively to me, the completed the full house re-wire without needing to cut a SINGLE hole in my lathe and plaster walls to complete the job. Although cuts may have made the job easier, they took the time and care to find a path that avoided need for repairs to the walls. Truly, they managed to rewire some locations I did not think would be humanly possible without cutting in for access. This team is a well-oiled machine and we made the right choice with Northstar.

The water heater had a leaky valve, so they had to fix that first. Then the first toilet needed new gasket and seal in the tank. Then the 2nd one turned into a major project. It was clogged with calcium that they couldn't fully removed so we decide to go for a new toilet. When they took the old one out the seals in the floor were all rusted out. And the pipe in the floor was a mess so they had to replace that too. And once the toilets were done, they installed bidet attachments for us. They finished up around 2pm. I was so grateful that they were able to get everything done for us in 1 day. Highly recommend!
