I LOVED sooo much about how I was treated in my most vulnerable moment (labor) that I HAD to write a review!!! I had my third baby girl at SVMH. My two other daughters were born elsewhere. My husband and I arrived at the hospital around 3 in the morning, and I didn't know it at the time, but I was 8cm dilated (I had already lost my mucus plug). I was in excruciating pain and could barely walk in, but I tried to maintain an appearance of calm. A BEAUTIFUL nurse named Jessica (I wish I knew her last name) saw to me first. She was like my saving grace and an answer to prayer that God would provide me with an excellent and caring team. While she was examining me before I was led to a delivery room, she could tell I was hurting. She gave me hip squeezes and showed my husband how to do them. I cannot tell you the relief those squeezes brought me in those moments. She showed compassion in her words, facial expressions, and actions throughout my labor and delivery (and get this, she stayed AFTER her shift to coach me through pushes, which aided IMMENSELY in making my labor the fastest I've ever had!!! She was not the only nurse who showed me great care. There was also Rayanne, Cheryl, Blanca, Jackie, and another Jackie, whom I later found out is Jacqueline Espinoza. They were sooo sweet and professional the whole time I was in labor. I had difficulty and needed two epidurals. These superhero nurses gave me massage oils, made sure I had everything I needed, encouraged me, and coached me through the pain. They made sure my husband and my dear friend (who is like a mother to me) had everything they needed. And 3 of these nurses stayed AFTER their shift until my baby was born. They held up my legs, and Jessica gave mental images to help me visualize as I pushed by sharing her own story of imagining herself pushing out the pain as she exhaled when she was delivering her baby. Also, I have to say that the way Jessica placed the birthing peanut between my legs, as before I began crowning, really seemed to help my baby girl come quickly through my pelvis. Jessica shook my husband's hand and congratulated us. I was in labor with my other daughters for 15+ hours. With my third girl, I was in labor for 4 hours!!! I have SOOOO much gratitude for the way these nurses helped coach me. For the ways they moved me around to help position me in the right place for birth. For the ways they called sprang into action when I moaned that my baby was coming. For the warm blankets they offered when I was cold. For the way they called for the anesthesiologist a second time when I said I was still in a lot of pain. Kudos to these nurses and to Dr. Katherine Ruth for being so calm as I was delivering. I can't thank you all enough for a wonderful experience and for putting my mind at ease during one of the most painful and vulnerable moments in my life. 5-star nurses!!!!

This hospital used to be the place everyone went to. These days, I hate coming here. To be honest,…read moreit's not really the hospital itself--it's certain employees. Most of the staff are fine, but one person with a bad attitude and no sense of how to talk to people can make an already stressful situation much worse. Our father was brought into the ER by ambulance. My family (four of us) was sitting in the trailer area off to the side, waiting for updates. An employee named Norma told us to move from the center seats to the wall seats because "people were going to come and it was going to get busy." We did as she asked. My husband and I left briefly to get my mom something to eat from Starbucks. While we were gone, my younger sister mentioned to my son that she was hungry. Norma told her, "Yeah, you should go eat." First, why is she inserting herself into other people's conversations? Second, who tells someone in that situation to go eat without knowing what they may have just seen or been through? My son had watched my dad fall and start to convulse. When I returned, my husband and son had left, and my older sister had arrived, so there were three of us waiting again while our mom stayed with our dad. I was sitting quietly on my phone, and my sisters were talking softly to each other. Norma approached us and said, "It's going to get busy in here and I need you guys to go." My sister asked, "Go where?" Norma replied, "You can go to the waiting room, you can go outside and wait, or you can go get something to eat." I asked her if she thought it was safe for three women to be walking around outside in the dark. And once again with the food comment--who in their right mind tells family members to leave and go eat without knowing why they're there in the first place? She then said we could sit in the waiting room "in the front." We had assumed the area we were already in was the waiting room. The real issue was her tone. Even as my sisters and I started walking out, she kept talking. I turned and told her, "You don't have to be so damn rude." I then asked her coworker for her name. The coworker said, "Norma." I heard Norma ask her coworker what I had said, so I turned back and said, "I asked for your name, Norma." She continued talking as we left--this was the point where she should have simply stopped. We walked around the corner and found a bench. As I sat down to process the interaction, I looked down and saw an IV cannula lying on the ground. There are things you just don't do. You don't invite trouble at work. That's why officers, EMTs, and firefighters never like hearing someone say "it's a quiet night"--you don't call a hard night into existence.

This test is not held at your conventional location. Tests are held at the American Legion Hall, partitioned with setup dividers for privacy. Everyone is waiting their turn in the same room as testing is done. When you arrive for your test you're greeted by someone who takes your info and then you complete your sign in via iPad. The person greeting you is very professional, polite and friendly. Depending on what testing you've requested depends on how many tests you have done. After each test you return to the sitting area and wait for your name to be called for your next test. The whole appt took less than an hour. Medical staff on hand was professional and friendly. These tests are not something you'd have done in your doctors office, it's really if you're looking for additional answers regarding your health. You receive your results in the next few days to the next few weeks via email. All results provide a link for your sign in. You can then bring these results to your doctors appt to discuss.

(Please be careful ladies because the person was still not caught and is still out there somewhere!) Anyways, I was so emotionally exhausted that I believe I just mentally crashed when given a bed and was finally safe. Natividad staff was nice and just let me sleep and rest while they gave me medication etc. I ended up staying there as a patient for 2 days. The staff was very kind in being sensitive when asking question or preforming uncomfortable tasks about the situation but when I was moved to a different part of the hospital, or basically no longer an Emergency Room Patient anymore, things definitely changed!!! I was taken to a part of the hospital where they basically strip you down and take pictures of you to send to the police to help them create a police report. I am glad that I had more say in the matter than the lady was actually putting off and I was able to say no to a few things that I felt very uncomfortable with, especially because the cops would be receiving these documents and who knows what they would actually do with this information. Anyways the lady taking these pictures and preforming tests was a very cold individual. She wasn't very comforting during this process at all. She did have an assistant with her that I was very grateful for...she said she was going to be there the next day when I was going to have to come back to complete the rest of the testing and come to find out she never showed. That actually really upset me because I was feeling very vulnerable and uneasy during this whole process. I also have major trust issues and don't open up to random people but for some reason I really liked her. Instead of her they had a different person come and advocate and try and support me and my needs I guess. It was a male and to be honest I was extremely upset and uncomfortable about this. It was awkward. I thought that I was going to get a referral to a DV shelter or somewhere safe to go for like a week or at least a night. ...seeing as I am a single female and am currently homeless on the streets by myself with nothing to protect myself. They also hadn't caught the guy that assaulted me yet and I really honestly was very scared. I tried calling shelters but everyone was full and just put me on a wait list! I was given a Visa card that had $250 on it, they said for me to get a hotel room for a night so that I would be safe?!!?!?!? I was very grateful but the card ended up getting stollen and I received literally no money or support at all!!! I immediately called them back and explained what had happened and how it was stollen but they said that they could not do anything more for me and that was that!!! I was very grateful at first because I was told I was going to get all this help and wouldn't have to worry...I would have a place that's safe to stay...That was not the case at all!!! I received x1 Visa card with $250 that got stollen and so basically I received no help at all! I really would have thought Natividad would have done a lot better than what was received! I really pray that no one has to go through what I went through at Natividad. I really hope that they get more resources to help females like myself, who doesn't have anyone. I know they have to have the money/resources to at least do better then what was provided to me when I was attacked...but I literally got NOTHING!!! All they did was give me Tylenol and an ice pack, and sat me in the lobby. No clean up on the wound or nothing, my husband and father had to literally tell the staff to get something to cover it and even then the staff was so slow and unwilling to help. Ended Up leaving after x rays because I had already been there 3 hours and no updates or help that was asked for. HIGHLY DONT recommend this hospital if you want proper care.

Literally took an entire hour to finally find someone to register me in the system for my test. Spoke to her multiple times and she apparently just wanted me wait endlessly to make an appointment on her check-in list instead of just taking my registration number so I could complete my urine test. Finally spoke to a nice gentleman there, finally received my registration number and processed me in the system. For some reason he kept in going on about how you need a registration, which I already had so I didn't understand that. Left multiple voicemails to the office manager De Santis about the peculiar experience I had with Susana. A manager really needs to speak to her on hold to optimize the check in process. I understand she's playing multiple roles but she can do better.
