When you go in, you join a queue and wait. I was getting equipment as an authorized user of a friend's account and it was raining out so I wasn't in a major hurry. Fortunately I was added as an authorized user and my friend was able to get things taken care of before I was called up to get the items. I use Spectrum for my home Internet service and haven't had issues. My experiences dealing with this location and setting up some of the equipment for my friend's property were consistent with my expectations. read more

Worst. Service. Ever!!!! I had been Using chat to discuss a number of issues that I was having with my Internet and streaming TV snd landline. The online chat was very helpful. They noticed that my modem and router were outdated and offered to ship me a new one I accepted. So then I went outside for a walk, and decided to just go to the store, which isn't very far from my apartment and pick up a new one, I asked the chat person to change my status from ship to pick up so I didn't have to wait for shipped ones to arrive. Chat people change the status from ship to pick up in local store. Since I hadn't planned on going to the store when I went outside, I didn't have my old ones with me and I figured since they would ship me a new modem and router without me returning my current ones that I would be able to pick up a new modem in route Without the old ones. Boy was wrong They said I needed to bring in the old ones before they could do anything. So while I was there I wanted to cancel my gold package because we basically stream everything these days and I don't really need Cable any longer. They said they couldn't do anything for 24 hours because they were morons. Sothen I told them that I wanted to cancel the landline that I actually didn't want in the first place, but was part of the package that I accepted the last time I was in the store. Even then I said I don't want this landline but she said I have to have it if you want this package deal so I accepted it. Morons in the store at the counter couldn't do anything to my account for 24 hours. So walked away from the counter and went and sat on a stool and called the telephone support line for Spectrum. I got a very helpful support person named Rubin (Reuben maybe) and he was able to make some changes to my account in his computer computer so that they could give me the modem and router since I was there . They wouldn't do it. They refused to do it because they were rude and awful didn't care about customers since they have a monopoly and we don't have any choice. So then I noticed that their name tags just had two letters and not their names. I'm sure this was because they didn't want to be reported by name. I asked for a manager to override some of the settings on my account. Of course, there was nobody there. I never do that. I never ask for the employees manager, but this guy was just being an ass. I now see why they're rating is so low. While I was standing there and the online customer support guy, Rubin was talking to the moron behind the counter I saw the laminated suggested pitch sales stuff. They seem to make it obtuse and complicated so that you don't know how and what you're getting. then the package deals expire and the rate goes way up even though you haven't done anything different. They're just awful. If there was a zero or negative rating, I would give it to them 30 minutes after I wrote the review I received this email saying I should come in to the store to pick up my equipment. While renovating our house, we wanted a good phone service - Verizon wasn't servicing the copper land lines any more, and that copper land line was the ONLY thing that worked during Hurricane Sandy. So we called up Spectrum, and asked; "Do you service Copper Land Lines? we want to keep our land line." "YES! OF COURSE WE DO" long boring story short, they came, installed everything (confusing the contractors greatly, because they didn't touch the copper land line) and then a few months later, guess what? We discovered they didn't set up the copper land line at all, and gave us a home phone that is all internet. They lied. So now during a rain storm or outage, guess what goes down? Our "land line". Which, when it goes down, turns on our house alarm. I thought I was alone in this, but just visited a friend in Connecticut who had the EXACT SAME STORY. They will lie to you. Don't use them. There are 30 names on this wait list and only TWO (yes, 2) employees working the counter. This is definitely one of the main reasons I stopped being a Spectrum customer and switched over to Fios-- their absolutely terrible customer service. How is it possible that in a store where there are 30 people waiting for service there are only 2 employees working the counter? I want to point out, there are 6 stations to take on customers.. I wonder where the other 4 employees were in such a busy time. Since 2019 Spectrum has falsified the speed that can be obtained and charge you for a speed (Ultra) that they can't possibly give due to distance from the D mark as well as provisioning. They will lie to you about getting back to you as well as damage your equipment and say they didn't even though recorded doing the damage as well as being caught in the Act. I have over 20K in damages as well as loss of business do to their construction team and customer service, Billing, and technical support. They will continue to collect monies from you but will never pay for their damages of losses and threaten you with Disconnect and reduction of speed dangling the carport in fron of your face like a horse training. My first call after activating my Spectrum Mobile Service was to their Customer Service Dept. to issue a complaint about the rude and unprofessional behavior of the Service Representative who activated my service. Alberto, an agent at the 125th St Spectrum store in Harlem was so rude that I actually volunteered to return to the store on another date. He said, " No, I got this." If so; then why the rude behavior. Alberto didn't have a name tag that was visible and when his co-worker asked him where the missing nametag was he said, " What name tag? I have the one on my neck. I ain't get another one." Alberto actually excused himself to go help a colleague and another client. After 27 minutes of waiting for him to return to me I asked, "Excuse me how much longer is this going to take?" Alberto's response, "My bad forgot you were there, sorry." The difference between me and the customers abandoned me for? They were Latinas and I am not. This wasn't about a language barrier because everyone spoke English. So why was it decided that their customer service needs trumped mine? The store was nearly empty. There were only 3 customers in the entire store at the time. Alberto had time to laugh and joke with those clients and his co-worker while I waited for 27 minutes. I pointed out that it was clear that they were more of a priority than I was. I waited to be served just like they did so why was I made to wait while they had two service people waiting on them. I said the only difference between myself and those clients is that I am not a Latina. Alberto replied, "No that's not it." I invited him to explain what it was since I clearly misunderstood and he was silent. My first call on my newly activated phone was to CUSTOMER SERVICE! A nice lady named Savannah took my customer service complaint and assured me that I'd be hearing from the manager. I waited 24 hours and returned to the store. The Manager wasn't there. Sable the Floor Manager was polite and apologized and said her manager would be reaching out to me. That was 9 days ago. I still haven't heard from the manager or anyone else. My 2nd call on my Spectrum mobile service dropped 3 times. My calls have been dropping several times since then. If you're on there Verizon network; why are your calls dropping in Manhattan, NY. I recently switched over from verizon. Price reasons. I only had internet/wifi installed. Although the technician was a very nice man, he was not aware of his surroundings AT ALL. A brand new $115 perfume was broken and went all over my dresser and carpet. Wires outside my apartment were left exposed causing neighbor complaints to my super when children were caught playing with them. And in my closet where all the wiring was done, protective wore covers were ripped out of my wall without even a word to me by the technician. After filing a claim they have been nothing but unresponsive and lackluster in regards to claim. If I don't call and follow up they do nothing. I was in the store for over an hour and a half trying to add wireless service and they couldn't figure out how to do it, due to a technical error. I stood around while one of the customer service reps was on hold trying to speak to tech support. I was initially patient but left very frustrated because there were no answers. I was told to expect a call back later in the evening, but did not receive one. I was also told that I could come back and speak to the store manager the next evening without having to wait in line. I returned the next day and was told that Christina, the manager, had already left. I was also told that it would be impossible for me to get a SIM card in the store for cell service, that it would have to be mailed to my address, and that this issue was unique to my account. No one understood why this was the case. I finally succeeded I requesting the SIM card, and Christina spoke to me by phone and apologized. Kosta, who had initially helped me set up my cable account, was patient and helpful. Update: Christina contacted me back and gave a credit to my account for the hassle. I understand that sometimes computer systems don't function 100% and tech support may not have the answers or may be overwhelmed. The measure of good customer service is taking responsibility for the impact this has on customers and taking appropriate action. On that front, Spectrum gets five stars. This was initially a one star review, but Christina and Kosta's efforts to make up for a frustrating experience turned it around. New update: Wow, things just keep being more of a hassle. SIM cards mailed, but FedEx won't deliver, not being held in store, cards finally arrive without indication of which goes with which number, phone support is abysmal.
