I have been trying to locate a box to mail my mini treadmill back to the company and because it's a specific size 37.1x 22 .4 x 6.7 I needed a box to match my needs for this 51 lbs mini treadmill and UPS, Home Depot did not have boxes this side. I called here and was assisted by a male who worked last night over the phone. He asked me to send picture and measures of my treadmill to their email address and he assisted me and encouraged me. Whoever worked last night 12/6/24 before closing was a great man! Today, I went to the store and worked with Hernando! Hernando helped me find a box that was 37 inches long 24inches wide and 4 inches in height. It was not a perfect fit but somehow my treadmill fit perfectly. Yes, I had to stuff it a bit but I was happy I got it inside, taped it up and now it's ready for UPS to pick up. Sometimes your box may not be perfect fit but if you have more inches on one side it will leave wiggle room for the shorter side. Let that be factual and words of wisdom as a metaphor! Marvin Ramirez the store manager could not have done a better job or been kinder or more professional. He sent me photos of similar job so I would know what it would entail before I came into the store. When my painting arrived, you could tell he had really put his heart into making sure it got to me in perfect condition. The shipping company he chose was very good. My wife and I had a deadline to have the movers come out on such and such a day. We had to be finished packing 3 rooms of our stuff which included some pricey pottery from Honduras, Central America and our investment in lithographs. Each needed to be packed correctly, and mainly, we had to box 16 years of our belongings in the 3 rooms that we've accumulated. Many of the items we had to box needed to be "doubled-boxed", being extra fragile. We were going to Des Moines, Iowa. Now it is a fact that Box City has everything. We live where Box City is, in Los Angeles which is where we are and the city that we are about to leave to go to Iowa! After months of packing, I still have 30 boxes more to buy. To help me do this, I have had the conscientious help of Antonio who knows his stuff. He helped me pick a ton of boxes which had to be the correct size while at the same time, serve every other customer who walked in during what turned out to be Box City's busiest time of day. But that was not the end of it. I came back again for more boxes and Antonio's relative Fernando worked with my wife and me for 2 hours straight to buy more boxes that needed to be just the right size to fit more of our lithographs and fragile possessions. If you are going to FedEx ground ship then I totally recommend Box City! I only recently came here for the first time because the guys at FedEx gave me some crazy big box for my small art pieces due to the fact that they did not have smaller boxes in stock. The FedEx employee said they would only charge me for the small box ($18), but due to the dimension and weight of the box the total came out to $151. My face went ghost white, I told him, there's no way I am going to pay that, that's ludicrous. The FedEx employee, a hard working kind gentleman, recommended Box City to me. He wrapped my gift, didn't charge me, told me where to go, so I went. I wasn't sure what to expect at Box City, I never hear anyone talk about it, let alone see it driving by. So I bought my goods in and the guy measured it, found a box listed in the books and it came out to $6.88, but since it had to be customized I ended up paying $7.95 after tax, FedEx was trying to charge me $18 for a box that wasn't the right size and tried to charge me $151... So he boxed it up, I payed him and headed on out to FedEx Ship Center on Hayvenhurst and Schoenborn St. The guy weighed and measured my product, the cost ended up being $37.86 for ground shipping to Chicago, Il. Total ended up being under $50. Box City is FedEx certified, meaning they meet the criteria for FedEx. Moral of the story, goto Box City to get your goods boxed up and then goto FedEx. For express shipping FedEx provides free boxes so no need to goto box city. read more

I had went for the first time a couple weeks ago to pick up packages from UPS that ended up not being able to deliver at my resident. UPS left a note to pick up at this location. I went into the store and two guys were only working. So ask one of them "can you guys help me if my package is here apparently this is the address UPS put for pick up" So the older guy tried to help and said give me "Tracking number" i said i think is on the notice. He said " No, it's not" i said ok let me see if they tried to email. I found my tracking number gave to him at the same time he is talking loud to his co worker about "we don't get paid to be looking for packages, i don't know why she put the service like that" well i got pretty upset. I didn't know how this service works when UPS drops off packages undelivered to nearby residents. So then the younger guy was like "here I'm able to help find packages". I said why is he all mad about? I just came in asking for help and locating my packages. Either way he look and packages not found. The older man was just plain rude in front of me and if he don't like working there or helping out Customer from UPS delivered packages then he should stop that service if don't get paid for it. It cost me nearly $14 in materials to pack a 17" laptop computer as they didn't have a perfect fitting box. I had to buy one a few inches bigger and lots of bubble wrap and packing peanuts to fill in the extra space.
