SPECTRUM THREATENS DISABLED PERSONS AND EXTORTS SENIOR CITIZENS! As the commercial goes, it's a brand new day. Well, it's a brand new company and it gets worse & worse each time! I have been w/ this cable co. service provider for over 25 yrs. throughout all the buyouts from Adelphia (no problems then) to Time Warner Cable (nothing but problems!) turned Spectrum (the worst one ever!!!) CUSTOMERS, BEWARE OF YOUR MONTHLY BILL! I have always paid my bill on time, often months in advance. Mine would often increase for no reason, as I never changed my cable & internet service at all. The BIG trouble started last Dec. when my monthly bill increased yet another approx. $20 mo. for no apparent reason so I called to inquire. The TWC rep said he would adjust it back to the normal monthly rate. However, this set the BALL OF DESTRUCTION rolling in motion! I'd like to think it was due to sheer stupidity rather than vicious retaliation, but TWC disconnected ALL 8 OF MY TV'S during the Christmas holiday season! (I am a senior citizen.) This led to NUMEROUS apptmts. for their TWC turned Spectrum field reps to come out to "fix the problem." Their definition of fixing the problem was to REFUSE TO RESTORE MY SERVICE UNLESS I AGREED TO PAY EVEN MORE MONEY (approx. $40 mo.) This meant turning in all my TWC boxes for Spectrum boxes. Of course, each apptmt. they would not have enough boxes or enough remotes, or the right type, or would re-schedule the dates/times due to delays on other apptmts. TOTAL MORONS! The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing down there and there is an obvious lack of training taking place for employees! I finally had to resort to filing complaints with the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION as I discovered this is the only way you can GET THEIR ATTENTION and GET THEM TO RESPOND TO YOU! After MONTHS (this has gone on for 4 months now and counting) I finally got someone to adjust my rate close to the original rate I was paying w/ TWC in Nov. I was also promised 2 mo. free service as per my BBB complaint resolution demand but later they DENIED agreeing to that (as I said, the right hand....) Their employees come & go like a revolving door and they love to pass the buck from one dept. to the next. TOTAL INSANITY. In a separate incident at another location, my disabled daughter happened to be leaving the property when a Spectrum field rep insisted she "let him in the property" claiming he needed access. Since we had no apptmt. scheduled, she refused to allow him access to the locked, gated property. HE THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE ON HER! I filed another BBB complaint asking for 1 mo. free service there (alot less than they'd pay as restitution in a lawsuit.) Once again, they refused, claiming it is "under investigation." Yeah, right. Spectrum sends massive telemarketing flyers out to catch new customers advertising service @ $29.99 mo. each service or $89.97 mo. when bundled (TV/internet/voice) and free DVR, but they PUNISH their "longtime loyal customers" with price gauges @ nearly double the price! WHY DO THEY DO THIS? BECAUSE THEY CAN! They have a monopoly on cable since they are the ONLY CABLE PROVIDER in the area. This is why they have lost nearly all of their customers who have gone to satellite providers. I AM AMAZED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HAS NOT BEEN FILED AGAINST THEM for disconnecting customers service in order to force them to switch to Spectrum at an increased rate, as this surely must be against the law!!! read more

This company's overall performance is beyond abysmal. It is absolutely STUNNING - the degree of pronounced, repeated INEPTITUDE that permeates virtually every department, from Billing to Marketing to Customer Service to the "contractors" under their employ. A WARNING TO ANYONE MOVING TO LOS ANGELES: AVOID TIME WARNER CABLE AT ALL COSTS - Time Warner Cable sucks. We were customers of Comcast until TWC took over (most of?) Los Angeles. Years later, they STILL CANNOT GET THE BASICS OF SERVICE RIGHT, and they cannot deliver a relatively reliable product, be it Cable TV, Internet Service, Phone or any of the elements of same, contained therein (such as On Demand). For the first eight months of our relationship with TWC, they were charging us for a connection speed that, after multiple tests at bandwidth.com and dslreports.com, it was determined we were not receiving. Inquiry with TWC resulted in them telling us that "the speed for which we've been charging you has not been attainable since we took over Comcast's areas." Nobody home at the helm of this company. There is no leadership, no follow-through, no commitment to the customer and no comprehension at TWC that they are as dope-slap STUPID as they are. All of their "services" are subject to constant, repeated outages, included, but not limited to: faulty or unreliable DNS servers, Cable TV signal, On Demand, DVR, HDTV. This is BY FAR, the WORST company of its size that our family has ever dealt with, period. Calling Customer Service is like sticking toothpicks in your eyes, as most of the employees we've spoken with (likely 50+ thus far) are so dumbed-down, it's virtually unbearable to speak with them for any length of time. "Now let's see, is the computer plugged in?" My wife and I are programmers, and we both do a fair amount of work from home. Using TWC is like having an absentee business partner who keeps taking the keys to the establishment, loses them and can't remember taking them in the first place. The people of Los Angeles need to organize and stand up to this poor excuse for a company, which is currently being sued by The City of Los Angeles because of their BEYOND POOR service - and fraud. Google it. As professionals who have worked for major media companies, both directly and as contractors, we can't help but wonder - who is at the helm at TWC? Who is in the board room? Where did they go to school and what type of IQs are we talking about here? Because this type of behavior typically doesn't play (for long) in the professional business community. Why do we have to put up with this? We have no choice in LA for comparable (when working) internet connection speeds. The kicker here is TWC's marketing (on their Cable TV system). The level at which customers are BOMBARDED with self-congratulatory, overblown, overstated claims about the greatness of TWC is - first - heretofore UNSEEN from a cable company. And we've lived in 5 of he top 6 media markets over the past 20 years. The level at which this company interrupts national spots prematurely, dropping in their brand-propaganda, is nothing short of masturbatory and is cause enough to puke after only a short time as a TWC customer. They are FUCKING over anyone who had Time Warmer that didn't switch over to one of their packages. I was paying 74.99 for my 200mb internet package before Spectrum bought Time Warner and raised my rates to 79.99 , then 89.99 and now 99.99. Meanwhile Spectrum customers are paying 79.99 for 200mb and 99.99 for 400mb internet. Some people have complained in the past and you can find news articles about this, according to a Spectrum rep the reason the prices are getting raised for legacy customers is to bring them up to current pricing with Spectrum. Hmmm that's odd because I am paying more than Spectrum customers. I called and complained about this increase and their customer service rep took it upon themselves to switch me over to the 400mb plan without my consent and Spectrum now refuses to put me back on my legacy plan or give me a better rate for their fuck up. I filed a complaint with the BBB and Spectrums customer service rep (Elizabeth) was beyond useless. She is there to do their corporate bidding and not help the customer. She enjoys screwing over hard-working Americans. I wouldn't be surprised if she got a bonus for every customer she didn't help. Today I went to Spectrum, Van Nuys location and it was a terrible experience I have had. The customer area was full of people waiting and there was not enough customer service representatives. When I asked one of their representative, he said they are on their break. I wish they could post this kind of baloney online that nobody should come from 5 to 5:30 PM time because all the customer service representative's will be on break. After a long wait of one hour 30 minutes my name was called, it took me just a few seconds to reach to the window, and the representative took another customer after me and she canceled my name. I asked the next standing representative that why it happened, I am waiting for an hour 30 minutes. The answer I got was our customer wait for that long. I should continue to wait so that somebody will call me. I was stunned and shocked by this response. Such an attitude and they claim that they have the best service ever. I'm not frustrated but I am scared that how long people will take this BS. Spectrum should change those customer representatives. The company should think about it and create a better environment, a better service, and a better customer-representative relationship. read more

Time Warner has absolutely no credibility. They do not honor their service agreements. I tried to upgrade my internet service from Turbo to Ultimate @ $74.99/mo. One week later, no upgrade. I called customer service at the number in the confirmation email I received (855-889-4113) and spoke to a rep named "Al." He said my order had been cancelled because TM was no longer offering Turbo at that price, but offered to upgrade my service to Extreme for $10 more a month. I have an email confirmation and printout of the checkout screen verifying that TW agreed to upgrade my internet service to Turbo @ $74.99/mo, but that did not seem to matter. The rep told me he would try to place my order again, but said TW would not honor the upgrade at the advertised price. This seems to me to be a matter of false advertising and Time Warner cannot be trusted to honor its agreements. Time Warner advertisement cannot be trusted! I am not sure if you can post zero stars - if I could I would. I cannot thing of a worse company to get service from. Countless hours on the phone with people being less than helpful. Changing departments multiple times with zero results. Paying for internet speeds that are supposed to be 200Mbps - to only get 16Mbps! The technician who finally came to my home (after many requests) told me to go and buy my own modem because the equipment from Spectrum was poor. Their OWN technician! So I did, and it helped in terms of not dropping the wifi connection - that is now rock solid - but did nothing to improve the speed or the overall service of this terrible company. Also, they were supposed to send me a new modem to use just for the phone - did it ever arrive? No. Three phone calls and 12 months later - still no modem. Now on the phone again, for almost 2 hours. Time to cancel the service. The absolute worst. They should not allowed to exist as a company. When 5G is here - cut the cord people. read more

Wish to god I could give negative stars. Barring that, I just hope I can save other people from this nightmare. Internet goes down all the time and is incredibly slow when its working. The DVR is a piece of junk - it will jump from 55% full to saying it is too full to record if you record just one more show after the 55% marker, so I have missed a number of shows that I thought were recording. The DVR can't seem to fast forward or rewind without skipping to the beginning or the end of the program. The phones cut in and out (a lot of crackeling). The customer service is a nightmare, as it can take dayyyyys for someone to come, and then they want you to wait all day for them,. Most of the helpless folks on the phone are nice, and you can tell that they know they work for a POS company. I can't have a dish where I live so that's out, and because our gov't is allowing monopolies again I have no other cable choices. grrr If you can, go with ANYONE else. Seriously. ANYONE. read more

I don't understand why my billing statement can't reflect the correct charges for the services I DO use, what's so hard about that? I wasted almost an hour of my day trying to help the billing department understand my frustration of being billed for a service that I requested THREE times to be removed. It is not my fault that the billing department failed to do their job and billed me incorrectly, why should I deal with their short-coming and lack of professionalism? Spectrum wanted me to pay for a service I did not want or utilize and will credit me the amount later...something just doesn't make sense...my previous bill was adjusted for the service I requested to be removed, so why can't they do the same for my current bill and why should I have to pay and be credited later? Perhaps it's time to improve on communication and information relay within the departments. I'm tired of dealing with the same issue. This review has nothing to do with the store branches, but rather their general service -- residential and business cable, internet, and phone. Twice within a month, service went out in my whole neighborhood for several hours -- and they gave no explanation. No internet. No cable TV. No landline telephone. I have two jobs, and they both rely on heavy use of the internet. Needless to say, I couldn't perform either job during these outages. Since Spectrum took over Time Warner Cable, their reliability lately has become very poor. In retrospect, TWC was far superior in comparison. They clearly spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a plethora of commercials that inundate your viewing, but can't seem to offer dependable basic service. I completely agree with other respondents. It is in this location that non-professional employees of this company work. What is their chief manager worth. He gives such incorrect information that you call customer support in front of him and hear something completely different. For example, he insisted that I rented equipment and now I have to pay for it for a couple of years. At the same time, I never use the equipment of this company (and I do not advise you). Not as bad as the others are saying, but not too far from it. I went in, I needed an HD receiver, waited about 40 minutes. Thais is already not OK, but whatever, that's just what it is. The customer service is really where this place irks me! It's like going to the DMV, except TWC is a private company and I shouldn't have to fee like that here. I honestly hope I never have to come back, but at the end of the day despite the long lines, I was able to get my problem resolved.
