I brought my vehicle in for a complete oil change at the speedlube in Bloomington Illinois. I specifically asked if they could check my manual transmission oil level. I am concerned about it because my transmission seems to be starting to cause a problem. They said yes they could. They come out to collect the money and then tell me they couldn't check the oil level. I checked online and it looks like an easy check if you can get underneath the vehicle. So I paid more than $60 for a job that was not completely done. When called to ask he was unapologetic and said the did the rest of the job. He finally offered $6 back. I do not want to go back to this place again so I declined his offer. I want people to know that this could happen. read more

I've brought my old work truck here and that was fine. I didn't check under my hood to check coolant levels but they said it needed to be topped off. I agreed. I should've asked to see it myself because it could've been a cash grab. I brought my Toyota in for an oil change and they wanted $80 so I said no and asked them to open the door so I could leave. The interaction was short but it felt super sleazy so I left. It's ok to say no. I think that's really high especially for a speed lube type of place. And of course they'll try and get you to change your air filter too. All quick oil places do. So I'd be out the door for $110 with tax. I called Sam Leman Toyota and they offered the exact same price at $80 (and they won't try and sell you something you don't need). So basically if you value your car I would take it to (in my case) a certified Toyota technician. Why would I pay the same amount at a speed lube shop and not have the peace of mind I get from professional Toyota mechanics who know exactly what they're looking at? The manager here has always been polite and has always answered all of my questions... we are moving and I hope to find another oil change place as good as this one. I think people forget that employees in settings like this do not owe people fake smiles. No one owes other people a "good mood" either. Employees are real people with real lives, and they do not owe customers any sort of "mood." Reading other reviews I realize how entitled and frankly awful capitalism makes people toward each other. Been going here for more than 10 years. I always get honest, prompt service. My vehicles are well taken care of. The service is always worth more than I pay. I feel bad for the folks working here. Been coming here for many, many years. Fast and honest. The employees seem to stick around for a while which I take as a good sign as opposed to the places that the names and faces change every time. Usually I just do oil changes and an occasional tire rotation or wiper blade replacement, but they offer many other services as well. Not the cheapest in town, but a good, honest place to take your vehicle. read more

Last couple of times into the shop the service manager gave a lot of attitude for no reason. Absolutely would not go back nor would I recommend anyone go there. There are plenty of other places in town that would be more than happy to service your vehicle. read more

At my oil change today I declined the air filter change. Got home and found that I was charged for it. Called and asked them to refund my credit card the $16.95 plus tax. They said they could not do it unless I brought the card in. Understandable. I asked what they would give me for wasting an hour of my time. Mike said "what are we going to give you for wasting an hour of your time?" I said "yes". Mike says "ABSOLUTELY nothing!" Emphasis on absolutely. Wow. That is great service recovery. Could have offered a coupon on the next service. Free air filter. Anything. Manager wasn't much better when I talked to him about the in your face treatment. Won't be back. read more

First time I went here they pulled out my cabin air filter and it had a big ball of what looked like blue carpet on it, I told them to just throw the carpet away and I would be replacing the filter myself. I got a new cabin filter at auto zone and it was much cheaper than having the speed lube replace it. So when I went to pull the cabin air filter out I see they had put the carpet mess back on top of my filter in a little wad. First of all there was no blue carpet in my car at all so I believe this is something they pulled out of their trash from vacuuming out other vehicles. Second.. I asked them nice just to throw that away, they had to put the filter back in and then take that wad of carpet and place it on my filter after they put it back in. I told my family not to go to them and my dad went there anyway to see what kind of experience he would have... crappy thing is they actually did the same thing to him and came out to show him a pile of carpet on his filter. This is obviously a little scam they run to squeeze more money from customers. Needless to say I will never go back to a speed lube because this seems to be how they operate and the manager was there when they did this to me... no excuse for this. I wonder if they skimped on anything else. I feel the guy who put the junk back on my filter instead of throwing it away must be a real jerk. NEVER GO HERE AGAIN! read more

Guy who greater was courteous. Place os clean unlike most oil change places. One employee wax standing in the shop area drinking coffee and smoking a cigarette which I didn't care to inhale his second hand smoke. They changed my oil and I paid. I pulled in the place with low air on my tires. I got in my truck and my tires were still low but on my receipt it stated that they filled my tires with air. I decided to try getting my oil changed here since I was in the area anyways. I needed to change my headlight too and I brought the bulb with, I figured it should be no problem for a professional mechanic. When I asked if he could do that for me, he cut me off and said something along the lines of "probably not, id most likely have to take a bunch of parts out to even get to it," which I thought was odd. (Turns out I was given the wrong headlight, but the mechanic told me he could not change it before I even gave him my keys). So I got my oil changed, got the right headlight, and decided I would google it to see how hard it really was. It took me 15 minutes to successfully change it by myself and I have no experience with cars. If they were busy, I would have understood that maybe it would take too much time, but I was the only customer there and there were multiple mechanics on duty as well. I guess when you are a college-age woman, they think you'll believe anything. If anyone from Speed Lube reads this, please make sure your "mechanics" know how to change a simple headlight, or at least say they will give it a try instead of treating me like I'm an idiot. If you ONLY need your oil changed and are in a time crunch, maybe consider going here because they were speedy with the oil change and the guy that checked me out was way more professional and courteous than the mechanic. read more
