TLDR: They installed a faulty part, diagnosed an issue wrong (AFTER I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR A WEEK) and charged me extra to fix it. 100% their responsibility to get a good part on my car only to have it fail a week later. Clay Dooley charged me an arm and a leg, denied fault for bad used part, then charged me another leg. I had work done on my car back in January. It was a knee assembly. Insurance totaled my car and so I had to pay out of pocket. I took it to Clay Dooley remembering that a family friend used to own the place. After battles with insurance, work finally started in the vehicle. They said that I needed a specific part that they couldn't find. I asked them where they sourced it and found the exact one they were looking for on the website they listed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I contacted Clay Dooley about it and they were mad at the website that the customer found the part before they did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then I had the part installed into my car- came back with a $1800 bill. It drove fine for a week before the rotor started chaffing and we found a groove. I had my dad check it out, and while reinstalling the wheel we discovered no matter how tight the lug nuts were it was wobbly. We took it back to the shop and they recommended "a new rotor and brakes". I then described what we did and then asked for further inspection. They found the used part had bad bearings. WHY WOULDN'T YOU CHECK THAT BEFORE INSTALLING A USED PART ON A CUSTOMER'S VEHICLE. So they had to install new bearings with a very expensive tool only they had. They wanted to charge me another $600. I said no way this is YOUR FAULT. I disputed it with corporate and they denied responsibility but gave me $200 off. I had no choice but to accept- I couldn't keep driving it the way it was. So it cost me another $400 for a mistake THEY MADE. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

I drove over when my car got a flat tire, I made it to the shop before it was completely flat. I had heard that Clay Dooley was a good and reliable place to go to so that's where I went. They put my spare tire on and got me set up to get a new tire on. So I took the car to my mechanic and he broke the bolts loose for the tow arm no problem.(they are adjustable as are the cam bolts) So this seems like they lied to me but I will just chalk it up to miscommunication. The regional manager did reach out to me and is sending me my money money back so that is good. I understand miscommunication... it happens all the time but this was a little extreme unfortunately. Should have talked directly to the mechanic and when it was up in the air he should have showed me what he did. These guys were fantastic. They diagnosed a TPMS issue for my daughter last year and did not charge her. Today, she had what she thought was a worn tie rod and it ended up just needing a tire rotation. Again they were not going to charge for the service, but she insisted on doing so and they accepted $20.00. Went to Clay Dooley for a safety inspection and was quoted at $1300 for a tire and ball rod repair on one side. I was told it was extremely urgent as my car was leaking grease and this needed to be addressed immediately. And I would also need an alignment which would cost an extra $100. I took it to a different place in town for a second opinion and inspection. The second place told me while it definitely needs repair it was not urgent and was not posing a safety risk. They also found that both sides were needing some attention not just one. They quoted me at $650 for repairs on both sides and an alignment. Needless to say, I feel like Clay Dooley was taking advantage of me and trying to rip me off and I am glad I sought a second opinion. read more

Clay Dooley Auto Service Center- BUYER BEWARE! +Surprised to see any good reviews. Today 10/2022 they deserve ZERO stars. +CLAY DOOLEY AUTO SERVICE CENTER will add on extra charges whenever they can! As I waited for my initial service, I witnessed 2 elderly females arrive to pick up a Jeep. She paid what sounded like $1,000 to get her Jeep back. They man at the desk then told her they found something else wrong "that's just how it is with a Jeep" he said. The 2 women left without the car, saying to each other "another $900!" SAME STORY FOR ME. +CLAY DOOLEY was a BIG mistake on my part. +Had a flat, got 2 new Uniroyals, alignment, & "rebuildt valves" x 4 (thought it included sensors, but no) +Work completed, left shop, had to drive out in the country, tire pressure light went on. +Next day, thought I should just drive it more, no, pressure light still on. +Called the shop, was told to come in to check the pressure "Pressures are all fine about 35, which is where it should be. Try the reset button underneath that vent there." +Looked it up in the car manual, found the reset button, attempted several times, light still on, enlisted the help of family members, light still on. +Called the shop again, "You need an appointment, we can check the pressure any time, you need an appointment for us to look at it." +Saturday morning, I show up at 0800, "service advisor" says "we can try our best to look at it today, but you need an appointment, say Monday" NO, this problem started from here. +They found time to check it Sat. morning, He says "Ok, we found the cause of your pressure light being on, your batteries on the sensors are all bad, all five, including your spare" I asked what about the 4 new valves I got replaced here? "Oh, those were rebuilds, the battery in the sensors are what's bad" "So all 5 sensors, labor, you're looking at $623 out the door. +DO NOT GO TO CLAY DOOLEY! They will not correct their own error, will just charge more money! I took my car back and left. read more

I had an appointment on Dec11, for a oil change and tire rotation. It took 2+ hours On the way home I lost two hub cabs that were not put back on properly after the tire rotation. Clay Dooley said they would replace my hub caps, a month later I finally got them, this took 1.5 hours for 4 hub cabs. I have taken my car to Clay Dooley for years and have always had great service. I called recently because the check engine light came on. I dropped the car off the next morning on short notice. The technician called late in the afternoon and advised they couldn't get the part in to make repairs. I advised no problem waiting a day. They called at 8:30 the next morning and advised it was ready to go. Last week, I ended up with a flat tire and had many options for where to choose to go. I chose Clay Dooley because I knew they would be honest with me about what I actually needed and not try to upsell me. After finding out they couldn't repair my tire, they told me they didn't keep the size of my tire in stock but they'd order it and have it in on Monday and they'd call me when it was in. They moved my spare to the rear (i have a FWD car) so that throughout the weekend, my car would handle a bit better. By 10am Monday, they called me and my tire was in. I will never go anywhere else for car repair while I live an hour of this place. Sure, I've been going here for years but recently they went above and beyond and I am so overwhelmed by how kind they were. I took my car in for an oil change and to get some stuff checked before I took a week vacation in Virginia, turns out I was leaking oil and every step along the way things were coming up that was prolonging the process (which wasn't their fault). I was getting nervous I was going to miss my trip and they were doing all they could to ensure I could go. They were honest with me, gave me updates, and was sincere about the price, but however it was already past when we were going to leave and since they are AMAZING they kindly offered their loaner for us to take on our trip to Virginia for a week for no added cost because things we're simply just taking longer than anticipated. This is a first class location. They have helped me with our Volvo several times. Jermaine Harris is the man to see. He is the epitome of customer satisfaction. There is a Volvo dealer in town, but they are standoffish and really do not care if you have a problem with a car that your daughter relies on. The Volvo started leaking coolant on Saturday. We had it towed to Clay Dooley and they looked at it on Monday. It needed a water pump and was repaired promptly on Tuesday. The price was exceptional! The service from Jermaine truly exceptional.
