Beautiful beach in North Lake Tahoe. The parking is not very plentiful and it is located at a neighborhood with narrow driveways. Plan to park somewhere else nearby or have someone drop you off to this location as the only parking spots I had seen were for active loading areas. Some people were parking for greater than 5 minutes. During the week day they appear to not enforce towing...But I highly suggest to plan around the parking situation. Beautiful beach! Overall I loved my stay but will say it's not as much of a beach as it is a cove... Parking- free! And along the road which is through a housing area. Not super busy and a decent amount of parking for the side "beach" Facilities- nice bathroom, seems relatively new. There's a water fountain and foot wash place on the path in/out. Well maintained walkway and stairwell Beach- room enough for maybe 4 people to lay out and sunbathe. Most people were there to access the shallow area for SUP/kayak, which it is perfect for. What I liked most was, though there was limited space to actually lay out, if you walked up the shore a bit you could find small little books big enough to set two or three lawn chairs and sit in the shade with your feet in the water. Overall, it's a great place to go and get away from crowds of people. Beautiful and quiet. Just don't expect to lay out and sunbathe unless out swim to the rocks read more

Avoid in the summer. There's nowhere to park and it gets way too crowded. Someone almost died a year or two ago because they jumped off rocks and the ambulance couldn't get to him from all the cars parked on the small road. Wish they'd get this under control. Kings Beach or Tahoe Vista are better options for a day at the beach. read more

This small beach is perfect for accessing the giant rocks located off shore. I love doing the polar plunge here each year because it's a quiet beach and gets deep quicker than the other beaches around. The views are beautiful and on a clear day you can see clear across to South Lake. I often paddle board or kayak to this beach & it's definitely a great Tahoe gem. This beach is a perfect little hidden gem (although not so hidden now that it's mentioned on Yelp!) that is nestled in the North Shore near Carnelian Bay/Kings Beach. It's nice because it's a bit secluded and it's free! Yes there are some speedboats here as well as other types of boats but don't let the name fool you - it's perfect for chilling out especially if you have little kiddos with you. There are little nooks and crannies of these beach that are particularly sweet spots to chill out on with lots of rocks to scramble on and even set up an umbrella or two. Just keep in mind that parking is super limited and if you come late, better luck next time unless you're super lucky! The water was perfect when we came (August) and tons of people were hanging out on SUP boards, floaties, and the like. The sand is pretty soft especially by the water. Overall it's pretty, clean and mellow, which is partly due to the limited parking which seems to put a cap on the amount of beach goers here. Enjoy! It's a sweet little spot! read more

If I had to pick my favorite part of Tahoe it would be Crystal Bay. There is something dark and mysterious about this little town, so by default I would have to say my favorite beach would be Speedboat. With the water as high as it is now there isnt much "beach" left, but that's ok because it is tucked back far enough that it doesn't get tons of traffic like all the others. That alone is reason enough to choose this beach every time! The parking is super limited, so I suggest getting there early if you want a spot. It is quiet, clean, the sand is soft, and the views cant be beat! I would definitely suggest Speedboat to anyone looking for a relaxing day at the beach, but with homes on each side wouldn't suggest it for partying, there are plenty of other great options for that! read more

Why people come here: It's free. It's picturesque. Those who claim it's the prettiest beach probably don't go much off the beaten track in Tahoe but that's okay. Let us who are willing to hike a lot farther to get away from crowds stick to those "locals only" spots and let the tourists try to kill each other to come here because they can save $8. What you need to know. During the summer, don't even bother coming here and claiming a spot unless it's early in the day. Off-season, it's a lovely spot to have a sunset picnic. Private residential areas are clearly marked. Don't trespass. read more

Loved this cute little area part of the lake! We got here at 8am and there was no one there, we were able to sit and relax and enjoy the peacefulness! Water was cold, but your body will get used to the temp longer you're in it. Next time we visit we will definitely bring some breakfast to enjoy! read more

Finding this beach was like finding a little gem. It's not the same location as indicated in Yelp. We drove 2 hours to find a beach in Tahoe & found parking for nothing. We were just driving around checking out the area and decided to check out this beach. It's pretty cool! We didn't have our beach gear with us walked down to see if it would be worth a trip back later. Pros are it is free, there is some nice sand castle sand, lots of boulders to climb on, it is a beautiful view. Cons- only saw about five parking spots and its residential. Wasn't to busy when we came but it was a cooler day. Other reviews said it fills up fast and the beach really isn't all that big. We would definitely check this one out again. read more

Not worth visiting during COVID-19 - one of the tiniest expanses of sand I've ever seen to qualify as a public beach. Accommodates *maybe* two families with social distancing guidelines. Public parking extremely scarce in nearby neighborhood. Hostile signs threatening to tow you away and "no through access / turn around" posted everywhere. read more

Good free beach, with very clear water (I was a little freaked to see all the fish swimming right near the shore.) Parking is pretty impossible since it's all residential. We got there on a Saturday morning at 10 am when Kings Beach parking was full and managed to get one space by some miracle. If you can get there early, do it! read more

This is a really cool beach with very fun rock formations both in and out of the water. Because of that, there isn't much sand to set yourself up on. It can get really crowded, though, and the parking is difficult because it's all residential. But if you get a chance, and it's during the week - go! Really really great beach for the family. The tide is low and there are plenty of little places around the rocks to take the little ones. The sand is soft (but super duper hot during the day), there's a lot of space for everyone to set up a canopy space, the view is fantastic, and is overall a great beach. There are porto-potties at the entrance as well. Just be aware that there is usually a cop at the front monitoring people parking the right way on the street and making sure no one is bringing alcohol on the beach. Parking is limited, so get there early or prepare for a long walk. Also, maybe not the best place to have a sit down meal because the wasps will be sure to join you as well. Either way, the beach is pretty quiet for how many people are there and I think it will be a must-go-to place every time I'm on the north shore. read more

You can park in the residence area. No parking fee. Beautiful place to see the sunset. There used to be two portable restrooms on the side of the way to the beach. But they removed them and I couldn't find any other restroom but correct me if I'm wrong. Nice beach and worth to come here for a peaceful walk if you are nearby. read more

A free and sandy beach with decent parking. We ended up here a bunch while staying in Kings Beach, because it's nicer than Kings Beach and isn't overcrowded like Sand Harbor. Yes, parking can be a little bit of a challenge, but not less so than other Lake Tahoe beaches. I'd rather have to walk in a residential neighborhood than on the side of a freeway. People shy away from setting up on the other side of the pier because the pier has private signs on it, but that refers to the actual pier, not the sand on the other side of the pier. The part of the beach that is near the tree line is "private" and some one will come tell you to move if you set up there. This is a nice spot to watch sunset (and parking is real easy in the evening). There is a cool bar at the top of the hill (Mellow Fellow) so you can get hot food & cool beer if you're willing to walk uphill a bit. read more

This beach is a gem, and I love it. Last year, it was fabulous with about 20 ft of beach and great rocks to climb. However, the lake level this year is so high that there is 24" of beach at the bottom of the stairs and the rocks are a swim. Maybe another year. read more
