After having the windshield ding "fixed" it looks exactly as bad as before. The tech came out and said it couldn't be totally fixed without windshield replacement. Nice of them to tell me beforehand. It's a rental so I just blew $91 for nothing - car company will still ding me. Would not recommend. People were nice, though. I've used them years ago and got better results. read more

Our car was broken in to and we are single car family. My husband uses our car daily as part of his job, so being without a car is not an option. First thing in the morning when we realized the car was broken into, we went to their website and requested a quote. We didn't hear back, so after a bit we called. We provided them make, model and year info, but the gal never asked our VIN number. She said they had not 1 but 2 of the windows we needed in stock and they could get us in at 10am. No quote. Kinda weird, but whatever. We drop the car off, they say it will be one to 1.5 hours. We go for a walk. 1 1/4 hours later they call to say oops sorry we don't have your glass, that was a different car. WHAT?!?! We go back to pick up the car. It's not ready yet, they're still putting the door together. I sit there long enough to hear several conversations with other clients- all of whom she asks VINs to confirm model and glass size. Knocked the window out of my camper shell. Called Speedy as I have used them several times over the last 30 years so they have always been my first choice. Pleasantly surprised they said yes they can do the glass. Bring in the frame and drop off, paid cash for the entire cost of 365.00. Next day they call, don't have the glass but can order it. Called me back, now the glass is 570.00, I decline. Told to come back 2 days later to pick up refund. Go back to pickup the frame and refund. No refund, they have to mail it. Ok, not a big deal. I asked about plexiglass (acrylic). They looked but said they didn't have it. They called again later and said they found a piece that would do the job so I returned (trip number 3) thinking that I could at least get something inexpensive to keep the elements out. They did the install and I came to pick up and the bill totals the original 365.00 that I paid for tinted laminate glass? Now I'm told that the plastic acrylic cost is the same as tinted laminate glass (over 270.00 for 58" x 18"inches) really?. The bill also included a 9.95 credit card fee (I paid cash), a 9.95 disposal fee (nothing to dispose of), and I think a shop fee of some sort and labor. It was pretty evident that even though the material used was cheaper than the glass they did not want to refund a single penny so they just made up the invoice to match what I paid for glass. After waiting for phone calls to the somewhere else manager about the credit card and disposal fees I gave up and left feeling that I had just been screwed pretty good by what I had always considered a legitimate honest business. Surprised by so many negative reviews. We needed to replace our truck windshield - decided to pay out of pocket vs insurance. We received a $50 off coupon in the valpak and decided to give this place a try. I called on Monday to get an estimate and see when they had openings. The estimate was a fair price (not with the discount) and they were able to get me in the next day. Dropped off 8am Tuesday and picked up around noon. Very friendly service. When I picked up the truck the gentlemen upfront gave me a run down on what to do the next 2-3 days with a new windshield. Honored my coupon no issues. Brought a double pane, wood framed window in for glass replacement. New glass is fine (Speedy Glass doesn't manufacture them), but the experience was terrible. First, when I arrived to pick up the window, the front desk has you sign the pick-up paperwork (including that the repair was satisfactory) BEFORE they bring your glass out. Dumb, but whatever. Well, wait! The sealant on my window is still wet! Also, the tech used clear sealant on one side of the window and gray sealant on the other!? Why? Oh, you don't know, and your tech isn't here? Plus, there's a chip of wood hanging off the window at the bottom of the trim! So I left the window with them over the weekend so the sealant could dry and they could repair the chipped wood. Got busy and didn't pick it up until Wednesday. Sealant is dry, did they fix the chipped wood? NO! I gave it a quick fingernail check and the chip popped right off the window! They didn't even try to glue it, just pressed it back into the window and hoped I wouldn't notice. Abysmal service and I will not be returning to this location. It's worth noting that I have had good service at other Speedy Glass locations in Anchorage in the past. I called 4 businesses for estimates on repair of 2 vinyl double pane windows with broken seals. Speedy came out and did an estimate. I had to call 2 times for the estimate to get e mailed to me 1.5 weeks later. I called 2 times to schedule the replacement and left 2 messages for Regina. My message was supposed to be returned before close of business. It wasn't. I went to Speedy Glass and spoke to Regina who informed me the quote I received was incorrect and was missing a $170 line item. Speedy's quote was $100 to $150 dollars more than 2 of the other quotes. I do not recommend this company. They actually don't follow through in a timely manner, return or respond to phone messages, cannot give an accurate quote, and are more expensive then 2 out of 3 other buisnesses. read more

My rear quarter window was broken into, on my Subaru, and went to two auto glass places for estimates. I called first, but then decided to drop in and talk in person, because neither place had the part available in town. The first place was local, and gave an estimate twice as high as Speedy. I know you often get what you pay for, but as far as customer service goes, I think I lucked out. Melissa at the front counter seemed knowledgeable, and solution-oriented. She checked several places to see if the glass was available (it wasn't) then called the dealer to see what they could do. While she called and dealt with my insurance, she also had the shop gentlemen tape up my window and offer me coffee. She also warned me about mildew (it was raining,) so I should dry out my car as soon as I could. I could see the experience being different depending on who you get to help you, but I have to say, for this experience, Speedy Auto Glass held my hand through a pretty stressful situation, and made it as easy as possible for me. Called and scheduled an at home windshield replacement. On the day they were supposed to show up, no call no show. I spoke to a gentleman who admitted he was new and didn't know what's going on. Then I spoke to Sharon and she said that I have to bring it in, even though they told me that I can pay an extra $45 to have it done in my garage. Sharon didn't understand what she was telling me about why they can't do it. She just kept repeating a line from her computer,"you have to be able to open both doors" she said. The truck doors or the garage doors? She didn't know. I left work to accommodate the repair man and they didn't even let me know that they weren't coming. I want to thank your people for such nice, fast, professional services on Saturday March 17. They repaired 2 cracks in my windshield that were significant that happened Friday evening. When I called, the woman set me up with an appointment for the next day (because they were closing in moments) but beyond that she told me to turn my defrost off and to apply tape until morning. I appreciated the extra advice and the work came out excellent. The ding was right in my field of vision! I work really hard to keep a clear windshield. I had my cracked windshield replaced a few years ago. They came to my home and replaced it in the driveway which was very convenient. Today, I am having it replaced again but won't be taking it here as they cut the wire to the microphone for the phone capability on my BT radio. Instead of bringing their mistake to my attention, they hid the cut wire by tucking it away out of sight. I wondered why my phone audio wasn't working as well as it used to and understand mistakes happen but the installer should have fessed up and I would have tried to get it fixed a long time ago had I known. I really appreciate you coming out within a few hours to board up our window after a home invasion. Then I received your quote for over $900 for one window and went into total "sticker shock". I Called another glass company and they are replacing the window for $325. What the heck ? That's $600 difference and the window is being installed next Monday (exactly one week after the break-in.) I wanted to be sure to pay for the board and time & I asked how much do I owe you for the board being put up and was told $200. So I don't usually badmouth businesses on here but here it goes. A little over one month ago we had a freak thing happen to the back window of our car where it exploded. Took it to speedy and got it replaced. They stated a 90 day warranty where they would replace the glass. After 35 days the glass on the rear window of our Subaru broke again while traveling 65 MPH down the highway. It broke into my dogs fur and easily could have reached My 7 y.o in the rear seat of our car (but didnt thank god). The road was clear and non-graveled and there were no adjacent vehicles anywhere within at least 2000 ft (possibly further). I returned it to Speedy expecting them to replace the glass for the warranty. They did not honor their warranty and refused to replace the rear window or give a refund. They stated that a rock "or something" hit the rear window while driving and imploded it. There was little remaining glass in the vehicle when they inspected it and they made this claim based on a small amount of glass around the rim of the window. I showed them a photo where you can clearly see a window gasket that came loose in the upper right hand corner of the window. This easily could have caused the damage in my opinion and no one at speedy could explain it as anything other than gasket "but not the cause of the breakage". I asked to speak to the regional manager (Jennifer Houck) also who relayed that she would be present at 9:30 am this morning. She was not. She refused to speak to me over the phone and then made me wait 2 hrs to meet with her. I spoke with her and she backed her employees and the branch manager (Regina Huskey) and refused to replace/refund the window. They did offer to discount the price of a new window, but I told them "i refuse to pay a company two times for a job that they couldn't complete correctly the first time". They also called later in the day after I had already taken it to another shop (I couldn't miss another day of work and have only one car to transport my son in) and my wife and I stated that we would be happy if they applied the cost of the window back to our credit card. They also declined that. Please do not use Speedy Glass. read more

I had a lot of referrals to this place. I had my car window busted; so I called them and set it up. I was told that they'd clean the broken glass out and replace. When I saw my car there was glass everywhere. I had to clean it myself. The window was fine and worked, but I was oversold. Not to mention I didn't get a receipt and had to keep pestering these guys.
