A very small, standing-room-only coffee shop. The barista was super friendly and clearly put care into every single drink. Both the espresso and the drip coffee lean dark roast. It's a great spot for a quick drop-in to grab a quick cup, but just be prepared to wait a bit if there's a line since it's a small operation.

Very cute Italian coffeeshop! Super small but that's part of the charm - having your espresso standing up. The Macchiato and Shakerato were tasty and strong. A great spot for a quick pick-me-up in Downtown.

Another amazing coffee experience in Oregon. Small space that packs a huge flavor punch! Service was incredible. Best Chai I've ever tasted.

Oregonian Sept 24, Readers Choice survey, reports Spella is one of the best coffee rosters in town. I'm here to check out the news buzz and buzz out on a macchiato - which was A-OK-O buzzzzin! Medium sweet roast, Rainforest Alliance certifiedl! Spella service and cafe vibe definitely A-OK-O! Small space standing room only rubbing elbows with other coffee "peeps!" Spella works / sources coffee cherries with farmers in India and Latin America. Roasts beans in town, Italian style, small batches producers bold, big flavors, the robust way I like it! I walked here in the rain to try it out. Definitely made my rainy espresso day!

Stopped by Spella for the first time today. Ordered an espresso. There's a small counter where you can drink it if you get it to stay. I also got a complimentary sparkling water to cleanse my palate. The espresso is hand pulled and tastes great. If you buy a bag of beans you get a free espresso. Will definitely be back for that. The space is tiny but service is great.

Delicious oat milk latte made within 2 minutes!!

I got a creamy delicious latte from Spella, promptly made within 2 minutes (felt like record speed) so I could catch the bus. Thank you! Definitely coming back :)

Small, cool looking spot with some of the best coffee in town. We had cappuccinos. They were top notch. They have some of their gelato and some chocolates as well from woodblock. They were out of pastries.

We stayed at a hotel nearby and saw this coffee had high ratings. It's a pretty straightforward menu... pretty sure it's aunthentic italian coffee. I got the iced latte and an almond crossaint and it was so delicious. I'm usually a super sweet coffee girl but the coffee was so rich and tasty without any added sweetener. The barista was alone and was super friendly although it was a bit of a rush in there.

An absolute gem. So small and cute, and right in from of the Trimet 15 line stop. Not only was coffee great but service was quick. There is no more convenient coffee stop in Portland!

    Great cappuccino!

The space feels cozy, welcoming, and full of personality. I especially loved the little post-it wall where customers can leave behind anything they want a small detail that makes the café feel even more personal and community-driven. What I ordered: Soft Cream Matcha One of the creamiest matchas I've ever had! The soft cream was incredibly fluffy and smooth, while the matcha itself was bold enough to come through with every sip and also had a coconuty essence to it. It had just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the matcha. If you love a rich, creamy matcha, this is definitely one to try. Es-Yen A classic Thai-style iced coffee made with condensed milk. This was strong, sweet, and definitely had that much-needed wake-me-up effect! The condensed milk gave it a creamy sweetness while still allowing the bold coffee flavor to shine through. It was the perfect balance of sweet and strong exactly what I needed. Buttered & Sweetened Condensed Milk Toast I originally had my eye on the pandan toast, but it's clearly a popular choice because it was already sold out earlier in the day! So I went with the buttered and sweetened condensed milk toast instead, and I'm so glad I did. The toast was crispy on the outside, buttery, warm, and finished with that sweet condensed milk flavor. Every bite practically melted in my mouth. The pandan toast is definitely on my list for next time! My Portland experience was made even better by my stop at Kaleido Coffee. The owners were so sweet and welcoming, taking the time to give me recommendations and making sure everyone was taken care of even during a busy rush. Until next time, Portland!

When I don't know what to do with my day, or I have work to catch up on, I go to Tov and go from there. Drink-wise, I often go for a Mucho Caliente, the "Mushit," a mushroom-based chai invention, or a Rose Mocha. I've had mochas all over and none compares to the way Joe and his staff concoct the drinks at Tov. The chocolatey-ness, viscosity, mouthfeel, flavor, sippability, sweetness, always satisfy my palate, and the balance of coffee to other flavors is always to my preference. Their drinks are decadent and may take a bit longer to make than expected, and I find it is well worth the wait. I enjoy getting comfortable on Joe's very colorful red cushions, taking in the purple Egyptian vibes within and the eccentric vibrancy that is Hawthorne outside. Fun fact: Joe doesn't believe in plain old ice, and instead he freezes cubes of milk! The cubes stratify into discrete layers that are fun to crunch through, reminiscent of the layers of baklava. Very enjoyable for someone who normally avoids ice or chewing on ice.

We stopped in here after playing a round at the Wonderwood Mini Golf. It had been hot and cramped and we really needed a drink. The door was being held open by a line of people and usually that is a great sign. Being busy is awesome for the business and I am glad they are so popular. It was a weekday, probably around 11 am and there were just so many people in line. It was really cute inside but SO chaotic. There were tons of kids screaming and at times it was difficult to tell where the line really was. After about 5 minutes of the line not moving, I started to get a slight headache from the noise and we agreed we would have to go somewhere else. It was probably for the best as all the indoor and outdoor seating was full so there would have been nowhere for us to eat even if we had braved the line. I think when a business reaches this level of popularity, it's important to put systems in place to keep patrons from feeling crowded and overwhelmed and it's definitely something they might want to look into in the future.
