I've been to other locations but taking a meeting here marked my first time. At first it was just a regular coffee shop and then it hit me... they were offering Negronis! This was going to be special for sure. Sadly, no before lunch booze for me but the mocha was delivered quickly and as ordered (not a complicated thing but man, the number of times coffee shops get anything "special" wrong is staggering). So excellent service! they had peanut butter cookies! They're my favorite and nearly extinct in the wild. Huge win. Being in northeast corner of The Sovereign building there was a ton of window seating. It was pleasant but busy and too noisy for the conversation we needed to have. Fortunately coffee is portable! Cafe Umbria is chic, clean, and delicious. The beautiful tile work and array of plants makes for the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee (or a cocktail, if you're feeling brave.) The space was so idealistic that I spotted a few people posing for Instagram photos during my visit. I ordered an ice lavender oat milk matcha, sweetened, and a macaroon. My drink was too sweet, but I take full accountability for that. Next time, I'll order it unsweetened if I'm also going to add a flavor. The macaroon's shell had a nice crunch and the middle was jammy and sweet. I visited on a quick coffee break, but the cocktail menu did catch my eye. First place I came to when visiting portland for the first time. Walked in and it was so pretty inside and when ordering the girl was so sweet and had complimented me after I had gotten my coffee. Speaking of coffee, I ordered the Cardamom Latte hot and a chocolate chip cookie. Best coffee i've ever had most definitely a 10/10. Definitely ask what it is because it sounds a bit odd to be put in coffee but i gave it try.. The cookie on the other hand was a bit harder for my own liking. My friend had gotten an eggnog latte, it was good we both rated it a 7/10 and the cinnamon roll cookie?, id say was good it but the cinnamon roll cookie was a bit sticky and would stick to your teeth but overall so good! Alternative milk options available. With free Wi-Fi and outlets, it's not hard to see why many choose here to study or work. Dispense your own water from the water station at the pickup counter. For explanations of the various drinks and unlabeled pastries, look no further than your friendly barista. I opted to get a Caffe al Pepe, an interesting twist on a latte with black pepper and honey. Their menu is pretty standard with lattes and espresso drink varieties. Staffs were very nice and friendly; they seem to have local regulars frequenting the spot. Their pastry offering was great. We got the Apple Bread Pudding and it's so unique and tasty with flaky pastry on top and gooey pudding inside. A winner indeed! read more

I came here for a quick bite and there weren't many food options. I decided on a panini that looked like it had been sitting in the display all day because it was the best option and the lady at the counter (very nice, hence why this is isn't a 1 star review) told me it would be almost $11. I couldn't justify that. This café isn't in the Space Needle. I can get a made-to-order breakfast bagel with more protein just down the street for $10. I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't tell you about their coffee which seems to have good reviews but this definitely isn't somewhere you should stop to grab something to eat. I can guarantee that the Cappuccino here is the best in the city . Period. This particular coffee shop has a very Italian vibe the walls are adorned with beautiful tiles and Italian fixtures . The huge windows provide a very bright and cheery vibe, which is awesome because we are surrounded by gray clouds eight months of the year. I really love coming here but because it's slightly smaller and has limited seating compared to the one in pearl and also because parking is hard to find in downtown, I tend to come here slightly less but every time I am in downtown, I ensure I grab a cup of my favorite cappuccino prepared to perfection. After more than ten years working in coffee, I can confidently say nobody in the city does it better. Every drink is spot on. But what really makes this place shine is the staff. Every single person is a delight--super friendly, personable, and always welcoming. They remember my name and my order, and they seem to bring that same kindness to everyone who walks in. On top of that, the staff clearly enjoy working together, which creates a genuinely lovely vibe that sets this spot apart. I could easily list dozens of times they've gone out of their way to be kind, but tonight was a perfect example: even though I walked in right at closing time (something I know from experience is never fun), the two baristas didn't hesitate. They let me order, joked with me about it, and sent me on my way with the coffee I desperately needed to tackle a research paper. Their kindness made a difference, and I'm grateful. Fine drinks and okay atmosphere, but $7.25 for a small iced dirty chai is absolutely ridiculous. I ordered the dirty chai (which was originally $6.25) with oat milk because I am lactose intolerant, which they charged me an additional dollar for. Usually my experience is that cafes will add only a 50 cent charge (or some drop the charge all together). Then when I saw them making the chai, I noticed the entire chai came out of a premade store bought mixture, which the barista then added a small amount of oat milk to and then called it a day. side note: the drink also tasted like total ass. overall not a great experience, which was a real bummer because I had heard good things about this place. read more

The space is bright and beautiful, though the acoustics aren't great. It can get quite loud.
