    Black Sesame Latte

Great little coffee shop with some fun flavors! I really like the space. It's small and there aren't really seating options for more than two people at a time, but it feels cozy and is very clean. The giant eagle mural is really pretty, and they sell all kinds of cool merch. The logo design is beautiful, so I see why. The coffee was well made and strong. Both my partner and I enjoyed our selections. I also noticed they have a ton of cool seasonal flavors (if I make it back before they change the menu, I really want to try the honey gochujang latte). The woman serving us was super friendly, and coffee came out pretty fast. Water station is available while you wait if you're thirsty. Overall, a great experience!

Great light roast espressos are a more common sight on the West Coast. Even so, Abba Coffee Roasters takes the cake with their Strawberry Coconut Cream Latte being the only Strawberry Latte that I've tried that's not syrup water. You can clearly taste the fragrant and complex notes of espresso paired perfectly with the strawberry. Just from the latte alone, I would've loved to sample their espressos because it was seriously that good. And while I can sing praises for their Strawberry Coconut Cream Latte, I can't say the same for their matcha version. The strawberry coconut cream overpowered the matcha making it less of a matcha and more of a strawberry drink. Despite this, Abba is known for their coffee so really it was my mistake to order something other than coffee. Abba is also a great place to get work done if you're working remotely. The coffee shop is relatively quiet and calm and the staff are polite. There's limited seating but it seems like a lot of people order and take their coffee to-go so it's easy to snag a table. If I ever got a remote job and somehow land in Portland, you best believe I will find my way back and sample their rest of their espressos. Honestly some of the best light roast I've ever had.

    Hot and iced sesame latte

What we ordered: * hot sesame latte (3.5/5) * iced sesame latte (4/5) [Taste: ] Probably one of the best coffee places in the area taste-wise. A good selection and they are good at what they serve. Coffee wasn't too strong but still powerful enough. The sesame flavor wasn't strong enough and got overpowered easily by the cream/caffeine. [Service: ] N/a

I entered this location with high hopes, on a Thursday afternoon, as it offers a very cute and aesthetic vibe. There was ample seating and a few groups there upon entering. There was no line when we entered, but required time to decide what to get. While browsing, I caught eyes with one of the workers and exchanged a smile. While looking at the menu, this employee continued to watch us and seemed to be waiting (almost impatiently nearby the register) for our order. This definitely didn't feel very welcoming while we browsed the menu. After deciding to grab a Matcha Latte for $6, I watched the other coworker make the drink and immediately knew there was too much milk. The matcha concentration had that nice green matcha color, but upon stirring it, it became a light green color. It wasn't very good, and I was disappointed in not only the employee's service but also the product. This was definitely not the service I am used to experiencing in this city, though I don't venture out to the Pearl District often. I would have definitely preferred my home matcha and strongly believe that the matcha latte is not worth it at this location (unless you like milk with a hint of matcha). I visited a different barista location to ask for a few modifications, the addition of more matcha powder and simple syrup, but was still left with a very disappointing drink. As I didn't want to waste my money, I did drink it reluctantly, over the span of two hours.

My go to matcha spot in Portland!! I've tried many cafes around Portland and usually the espresso is good but the matcha is lacking at these cafes. I travel for work, and I was looking everywhere for a solid matcha latte with cream top! And ABBA is the best and most authentic tasting. (I also like project matcha but it opens too late to get before work). I always get the iced matcha latte with sea salt cream top and almond milk!! It's the perfect balance of salty and sweet! The matcha flavor is great. They actually introduced me to Asha Tea House matcha and I bulk order it and make it when I'm back home in LA. There is plenty of street parking. The interior is nice and there are plenty of seats plus they have wifi! The pastries are also delicious. It is a bit pricey and a bit inconsistent in the pricing. I've ordered the exact same drink with the exact same modifications and sometimes I'm charged $7.25 and today I was charged $9.50. They only have one size and I wish it was bigger because it is great!!

This is literally my favorite coffee spot in PDX right now. I come here every weekend (so sad they aren't open on Sundays): ! I love a good cold foam on my lattes and they have the best sea salt cream I've ever had. I always usually get an iced almond milk latte with sea salt cream and a matcha with sea salt cream. Every single time they are perfect. They also have the best pastries from Jen's Pastries. The staff is sweet and it's just a cute space. Highly recommend!

This cute little cafe was only a few blocks from our hotel, so we walked over for our morning coffee. Inside is hip and clean, and the service was amazing! Fast and friendly. I ordered an iced hazelnut latte, my sister got an iced Nutella latte, and my mom got a hot latte. My latte was perfect! Not too sweet, but very robust espresso flavor. Highly recommend! My family loved their coffees too. We also got banana bread, a blueberry scone, and a poppy hibiscus scone. All pastries were absolutely delicious! The blue berry scone was heaping with blueberries on top, and was probably my favorite blue berry scone I've ever had. Some stating outside is nice since it's summer and the weather is perfect! Fabulous little cafe.

Abba is a nice little coffee shop, and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. I was particularly fond of the sea salt cream latte. My only real complaint is that the drinks are extremely expensive. For two lattes, plus a reasonable tip, you'll be looking at spending nearly $20. And the drinks aren't big either. I don't think I can really recommend it based on the value, even though the drinks were pretty good.

My matcha latte with the pretty color but no so great taste

My actual first stop I made Friday when arriving to my hometown for a weekend visit! Matcha has been a long time ritual for me in the morning therefore it was time to support a local cafe while home. I searched "best matcha PDX" on TikTok and Abba had great reviews so there I went. Upon arrival, I loved the location and setup. There were two patrons out front and about 4 inside either chatting quietly or working from their computers. I walked in, was not greeted by anyone, that's fine on some occasions. There was one dark haired male with his Back turned as he measured filtered water slowly coming out of the faucet and a blonde woman (i believe) with a cap on. I made my way to the register and said "How are you doing?!" with a smile and the woman immediately said "what can I get you today?" Smh she decided to set the energy from that point on and it did not match mines or that of a barista in good customer service. Not leaning into anything but positivity, I repeated "how are you doing today?" Because to me that's most important and anyone is allowed to say they aren't feeling so great today which then helps the person respectfully care for or address them with grace. In response, she makes a face by pursuing her lips together, squeezing her forehead muscles and brows together and what appears to roll her eyes up. She may have said "good" after that but her negative disposition and aura spoke more for her (it's not what you say or don't say, it's what you do that resonates with people). So I proceeded with my mission and ordered an oat matcha latte with honey. She rung me up and went to making my order which I had high hopes for despite the exchange. when someone isn't operating from care or love, it will show in what they do and the matcha she put on the counter for me was not it. Had a nice deep green hue to it but the taste was more of milk and with of hint of green tea. I left telling her to "have a better day" because I genuinely dislike when service providers pass on what they are going through on to another persons days (especially when they may be someone's first exchange for the day) when lot of people out here, like myself, may actually be capable of empathizing especially with all that is going on in the world, and in general, life. Hope things get better and wish I had a better review to share but better luck next time.

Abba is the cutest coffee shop, and luckily, my hotel was just around the block. The two ladies that were behind the counter were extremely kind, we chatted for a few minutes and even received a few Portland recommendations from them. I had one of their seasonal drinks, the yuzu matcha hibiscus and it was delicious. The matcha was a deep, rich, green and it was whisked to order which is nice and appreciated. So many places are now batch making their matcha due to the high demand. The drink had the sour component from the yuzu and it was balanced so well with the matcha-- I enjoyed it so much that I tried to come back the next day, but it looks like they are closed on Sundays. In addition to my drink, I also ordered their breakfast sandwich which was really good too. I do wish they had packets of either hot sauce or ketchup. I also had their chocolate chunk cookie which was good. Nothing extraordinary, but wouldn't mind getting again. The store is on the smaller side, but it has a cute aesthetic to it.

As a matcha lover, I always make it a point to hunt for the best matcha drinks in every city I visit. I came across Abba and decided to try the Matcha Latte with Cream Top and the Iced Sea Salt Cream Latte. The matcha itself was solid, but the cream top was absolutely delicious! The owner was super friendly, and the cafe has a super cute vibe. I'd definitely recommend stopping by!

Great friendly baristas and team here. It's a cute cafe with some delicious morning treats and the macadamia half caffe latte was smooth and the foam was plentiful. I highly recommend it it's a few blocks from the hustle and bustle

I love trying new coffee shops, especially if they have distinct items on their menu. I am a sucker for anything black sesame, so when I heard they have a Black Sesame Latte, I knew I had to try it! Not to mention the shop has a cute and cozy aesthetic with an array of shades of blue. We tried both the Black Sesame Latte and the Nutella Latte. The Nutella Latte had a distinct sweet hazelnut flavor that paired well with the coffee. The Black Sesame Latte was such a perfect balance of nuttiness, subtle sweetness, and bitterness. The black sesame flavor wasn't too overpowering either. There are so many other lattes I will love to try from here but I know I will be tempted to reorder the Black Sesame Latte, it really was that good!

If you want to try eclectic coffee, definitely try Abba Coffee. The pistachio coffee is a popular choice along with the black truffle.
