This place was a great find. We were on vacation wanting to try some Montana steak. We called ahead to check for a wait. It was under ten minutes. Upon arrival we waited for the 10 mins and were seated. The tables were less than 6 feet apart and our charming and warm waitress did have her nose out the top of her mask but we looked past that. The menu is small, but the food is good. As a party of four we had mixed reviews on the spaghetti that comes with the meal. It seemed odd, but as we are not from here we don't know if that's normal. Either way we ate it. It was okay. Not the best not the worst. It seemed like you get the same amount regardless of party size. We had the same amount as the party of two beside us. The spaghetti was just an odd feature but enticing none the less. The steaks are steak. They are not seasoned, but they are high quality meat. They at first seemed bland, but you get the full flavor of the meat. The cooking job on all of the steaks was perfect. Especially since we all got different levels and all four came out at the same time. The food came quickly. Oh, they also did salad which was nothing crazy, but still good. One member of the party said he had far too much dressing, but mine seemed perfect (granted I love dressing). We did feel slightly under dressed in our hiking attire, but it didn't seem to matter to staff. Other customers were there in church clothes. I cannot brag enough on the charisma of the staff. The hostess was sweet and our waitress was warm and welcoming. She was clearly busy, but did everything perfectly. She even took out time to talk with us for a second about the area. Very charming. Dined again mid-October after September stop. You come here for the meat!! Steaks area great. However, the other offerings are very average. Salad is just basically iceberg with a few sunflower seeds and a carrot. Spaghetti also served is okay. Mashed potato is a side and extra cost, very creamy but small plop in a dish. Day two of the 5-day flight layover. Went for steak. We sat at the bar. Irene the bartender is friendly and awesome! So is the rest of the staff. They made us feel like we were part of the family, could talk about anything. The food is fairly average. I had a filet mignon. It was cooked properly, just average cut of meat. It came with a dinner salad, which was average, Texas toast, which was average, and a plate of spaghetti, which was average. I did have cheesecake for dessert. It was great! (I asked for extra whipped cream.) Overall, it was a very nice dinner. We could have talked with the staff for hours. The food might be average, but we will definitely be back. read more

I chose to come here for my 36th birthday with my family and ordered the 20 oz Porterhouse T-Bone steak. We had never been here before. My boyfriend had the same thing and our friend ordered the ribeye - we all ordered our steaks rare to medium rare, and they all came out OVERdone and flat as a pancake and had absolutely no flavor. I can't even get over how bland everything was. I ordered mashed potatoes with my plate for an extra $3 and I received a TINY bowl of INSTANT mashed potatoes and NO gravy. The only side that comes with your plate is BLAND and COLD SPAGHETTI with what tasted like grocery store quality sauce (Ragu or Prego at best). Our plates reeked of CHLORINE and the service, though diligent, was over attentive and made us feel rushed. The only plus to this experience was that our server brought out a free slice of birthday cheesecake for me. We paid $145.00 for this experience! A cup of instant ramen has more flavor than the food we received here. STAY AWAY if you like GOOD food - all the reviews who claim to have gotten the best steak they've ever had - I dare you to come try my boyfriend's steaks here at our house and then say the same thing. It was a bit odd to me to have a spaghetti side, and neither that or the mashed potatoes lived up to how good the steak was. I've eaten at Spencer's many times, and have always been satisfied with the food and the service. Last night was an exception. My friend and I arrived at about 7:30, the place was packed, and the hostess told us it would be a 15-20 minute wait. So we went to the bar and ordered a drink. 15 minutes later, we ordered another drink. 30 minutes later, and I asked the bartender if they'd forgotten about us. (The restaurant was clearing out by this time). We were seated immediately, but then had to wait about 10 minutes for our server to take our order. It took forever to get our steaks (6-oz. sirloin, ordered medium) but they were well-done and very tough and grisly. Our server was snippy and seemed to have an attitude, and she never came back to check on us. We spent a total of an hour and a half there. Extremely disappointed. Best Steakhouse in the Flathead Valley by far. The menu is simple with a variety of steaks, seafood options, great pork chop and salads. Service is always exceptional and they do have a full bar. For those that are expecting appetizers and side dishes be prepared that everyone gets a side of spaghetti and a choice of homemade mashed potatoes and/or sautéed mushrooms. Where do I begin? We called ahead to check if there was a wait. The server assured us there was no need for a reservation and seating wouldn't be a problem. We arrived at 7pm. We waited 20 minutes to be acknowledged. Although there were 3 free tables they put us at the bar to wait. The server seemed annoyed when I asked for a beer list. After another 30 minutes watching two empty tables never fill. We tried to get the bill for the drinks we had ordered and no server would comply. Eventually we just left money on the table and walked out the door. The younger server seemed embarrassed and said sorry but the rest of the staff ignored us as we left. If all you're looking for is a fabulous piece of beef, Spencer's filet will do it. But, don't expect a baked potato, garlic mashed potatoes, broccoli, asparagus or any other traditional side. This is a local favorite and has been for years. The menu hasn't changed much in years and everything is good, from the filets to the chops to the seafood salad. The owners manage the bar and serve as waitstaff and know most of their patrons by name. If you're in search of a good steakhouse while visiting Whitefish, then I'd suggest waiting until you get back home. Apparently none of the restaurants in this area serves "prime" grade steaks. They all serve "choice" grade steaks. However, most of the local restaurants omit this important fact from their ads and menus. According to our resort's front desk attendant, Spencer & Co. is supposedly the best steakhouses in the area. I should have known this was no real steakhouse when the waitress told me that spaghetti and toast were the only two available sides. The truth be told, the Texas toast was the best part of the meal. The steak was served on a sizzling hot plate, which was strange. I'm not sure if they realize that the steak continues to cook after it is taken off the grill and cooks even faster being on a heated metal plate. In short, the steak was awful. It was probably the lowest quality "choice" grade steak available. Costco has better cuts of "choice" steak. Notwithstanding the poor quality of food, the service was excellent. read more

We went to this place based on a recommendation of a local friend. The place was pretty simple and from what we can tell it was mostly locals who were in the restaurant. I ordered the porterhouse and my wife ordered the ribeye. The steaks were only okay and needed steak sauce to add to the taste. We did enjoy the garden salad and spaghetti that came with the steak. I visited Spencer's with a group of 6 people and while they seemed to enjoy the meat they were served the appetizer salad (bagged iceberg) and the service left a little to be desired. One of our guests ordered a cocktail, had it remade, and once more time before simply switching to wine. I, myself am a vegetarian, I travel often and am used to getting by in restaurants and finding something to eat. Here, there were absolutely no options (besides previously mentioned iceberg). I was excited by the pasta side until I found that too had meat. They offered no vegetables or other options to accommodate. End of story, I ate when I go home. read more

Great steaks. I had the 10oz sirloin and my wife had the 6oz. Both were cooked to our perfection. We added mushrooms and topped off the dinner with a slice of chocolate cake. It was huge and topped with whipped cream. The price was reasonable and the service was outstanding. Along with your steak you get spaghetti. It too was very good. The only downside is Yelp doesn't know the difference from north and south. It took us south of town when in fact the steak house is located north of town. So we took a long detour to get there but it was worth it. read more

Yelp says it opens at 9 and closes at 5. It actually opens at 5pm and closes at 9pm. Also the map tried to send me south of Kallispel but it's actually a few miles North of Kalispell on your way to White Fish. The service was amazing and the food was excellent. I love Filet and they cook it just perfect here, it comes a little under sometimes and I can use the hot plate to finish each bite off! Spectacular!
